Damn it. You always have a way of telling these stories to make one go from “WTF” to tearing up. Don’t ever stop doing you. I couldn’t get through Austin traffic without your narrations.
Fun Fact: my grandpa helped build/work on the rocketships and equipment for NASA. There are still things that he worked on that he can't tell anyone about.
My adopted Grandfather worked for NASA also. He was the most brilliant person I ever knew. He also built planes for WW2 movies (he was a vet) and one was for a Robert Redford movie!
My granddad worked on the Manhattan Project, was the primary inventor of stealth technology, and worked for the space program briefly, also. He's got like 250 patents and some of them, 50 and 60 years old, are nothing but a number and his name. No info about them. The only spontaneous trip he ever took was July 4th, 1947, right after Roswell supposedly happened. He ditched the family and spent 2 weeks of 16 hour days at Sandia National Labs. Why? No idea. I solved a problem in his branch of physics and asked him what I should do with the solution decades ago. "Burn it," he said. "Forget it. You don't want to spend the next 50 years asking the DoD for permission to leave the country and listening to the FBI bug your phone."
@@MrBrachiatingApe My grandpa also worked on the Manhattan project if my memory is correct. I never asked him about it but I believe he was helping with something involving coding.
@@mezzykrazy interesting. In the computer code / microcode since you need? Or do you mean in the NSA cryptography and code and decode sense? Manhattan project was mostly done with slide rules though it's possible they had access to one of the first handful of computers ever built by the end. I was super lucky because my grandfather was in the very top tier of physicists, having earned his PhD in the same class with six or eight future Nobel laureate including Oppenheimer and two of my maternal grandparents' semi distant cousins, oddly enough (Pauling and Seaborg). His best friend, my "great-uncle" as most of us kids called him, was Dr Louis Alvarez who figured out and proved an asteroid or comet impact wiped out the dinosaurs, and I got to hear some of these men talking about their careers and experiences in the war. I wish I had been older, old enough to really appreciate the privilege I'd been granted, but my granddad had to stop having reunions by like 1989 or so. So many things I'd ask him about.
Being a huge fan of all things space and cosmic horror, I loved this! Really does make you wonder what's out there. And what they're telling us.....and what they aren't!
You know what Creepypastas do for me? When I am falling into monotony or boredom, these stories take me by the hand and walk me into another reality. When I'm having a really hard day they take my mind into another world. The escapism can be very therapeutic when you have to hit the pause button on your pain, anxiety, and stress. Thank you Dark Somnium & Romnex. Today is a day that I needed this.🙏🏼
I get this. I'm holding down the fort with my boss and he's just finished telling me about how nice the new C8 Corvette is for the 30th consecutive day and is now starting another rant about the pandemic. Luckily, my default responses of " for sure", "yeeep", and "dangggg" allow me to focus on this and use autocad at the same time.
Sure beats the hell out of cable/Sat or what they try to pass as quality tv by the networks.keep up the great work!!! I like the space stories they remind me of the stories from omni mag or the other pulp mags
I agree with you Megaman. I'm not obsessed with Creepypasta stories, but I'm usually (much more often than not) so intrigued and entertained by them moreso than most stories I happen on. Thanks for the thrill here. I enjoyed it immensely. 💘
Ha! My grandma was the same. The very second after Jenny! Are you hungry? I’ve got ham. I’ve got stew. No Meemaw. I’m not hungry. I’ve got chips and ice cream. No Meemaw, we ate on the way here. Are you sure? Oh look, I have goulash left (after she looks in the fridge). I miss that woman every darn day.
the voice of grandma was played by an actor reading the transcript of conversations between the grandson and her over several days. but don't let the 'creepypasta' name fool you, the story is a genuine one.
I wish they had gotten a better voice actor to do the grandma. The moment I heard the twenty-something girl attempting vocal frying to sound older, the story lost all credibility and I immediately disengaged. This is a Heartfelt and Sincere critique, and not me trolling here. In fact, the other reviews seem so positive I may just apply a little suspension of disbelief and settle in for the ride maybe later on. 👍🏽
Hell yes, are you a fan of Jack Parsons? He's one of my my top 3 favorite people. He was a rocket scientist and founded JPL, and was in the O.T.O. (I only gave that basic info to get people curious about him).
I just found you today... wonderful binge time!!! This one,I must say, is my favorite one!! SO entertaining!! ALL if them have been VERY good... pretty excellent, really. This one is at the top of the list, however! Thx, SO much for the great entertainment!
Female voice actor was amazing. This story needs to be a TV special, amazing execution. Clear as a bell what my mind created with your expressions, kudos!
It's interesting that you say that because I immediately noticed she sounded like a young woman trying to sound like an older woman. I didn't care for it at all.
I am 71 and trust me, that is NOT a senior's voice. It is the voice of a much younger person trying to do a senior's voice. It's not just the tone and timber of the voice that gives it away, it is the current day expressions used that give it away. The supposedly well educated grandmother mistakenly used the term 'morally' instead of the correct term morality for what she was describing. That would not have happened with a real senior from that era. These are mistakes that are more common today.
This story has so much content it feels like a single echoing point of many stories you narrated : Star Force, Tchernobyl, The entity of the Deep Web.... Awesome
@@JCavinee the part of the deep web we arent supposed to see is the title of the story. But its actually only the second part of a much larger series. I spotted a mistake at 08:09. If they were facing their morality, they would be facing their ethics and behaviour, I think the writer means they were facing their mortality, meaning they were facing end of their lives,
4 роки тому+2
Good catch mein furor I thought I was alone with this one
True. Although maybe the writers were trying to communicate the fact that the men were losing their sanity, their reasoning. A.K.A., they were facing their own views of morality.
...there was also the line about "taking deep, shallow breaths". Pick one. Love the premise of the story, but could use a revision. Grandma's cursing could probably be reeled in a bit too.
That is what I was thinking. After all, the truth is stranger than fiction, and I have often wondered how much inside knowledge is contained within some of the most incredible stories.
Nah, the orbital mechanics and rocket engineering doesn't check out. A 3 man capsule in orbit for a whole day in 1960? Not happening. And the bit about the capsule drifting off towards the sun is not how orbits work. Lastly, even if the throttle got stuck on the liquid fuel motors and you somehow managed to get into a stable orbit rather than a high apogee parabola, the capsules used separate solid fuel retrorockets to deorbit. In the highly unlikely scenario where the retrorockets ALSO fail, you can use the RCS thrusters to deorbit. Just saying, it's a fun story, but it's not a possibility. If there were secret crewed missions, they would have had similar capabilities as the public ones.
@@VecheslavNovikov Right. Even the Nazi Bell popped into another dimension in time and crashed landed in the USA many years later, and that didn't have 3 men.

Have just found Dark Somnium in this last week and have already listened to about one a night. Have loved the stories! The narrator has a very nice voice and is easy to listen to. His music (which he writes himself) and sound effects are awesome too. I really like that I can close my eyes and listen (wonderful when I have a migraine, and can’t watch tv or look at computer, it gives me something to focus on besides how bad my head aches.) I do sometimes fall asleep while listening, but I am excited to go back to where I left off and see how it ends! Thanks, your channel is amazing! Will be tuning in again and again. Thanks.
My first story with you and its still my favorite, love hearing your voice. It adds a calming vibe to each tale which at times can make each story more tense.
I really enjoy the subtle piano notes in the back ground. It's simplicity adds not only a bit of sorrow but also a bit of depth in the horrors that happened. Great Job Dark Somnium! 👏
Decided to check the newest comments since this is like my fourth rewatch. A lot of pointless negativity. This is one of my all time favorite stories, thanks so much for your and Rom's hardwork!
OH MY GOD..... I’m a little freaked out right now, not so much because of this story (definitely freaky), but because the dome light in the car across the street has been flickering on and off by itself. It’s was around 4am and it’s a Sunday morning. I’m sitting outside on the front porch in my sleepy neighborhood, while listening to this story, and practically chain smoking, when the dome light of this car (parked on the street in front of the neighbors house across the street) start purposely flickering on and off. It started about 20-25 minutes into the story. It seemed to be Morse code. After about a minute, I started asking questions out loud, into the thin air- or what ever (or whom ever) was causing this flickering. With every question, it waited until I was finished asking it to reply with flickering. It seemed so purposeful and definitely Morse code like. Short-long-short-short, pause, short, pause, short pause, long-long-short, etc. It went on for about five minutes. I was so dumbfounded by it I didn’t think to film it. Then, about 40-45 minutes in, it started up again. This time it only went on for two, maybe three minutes. It was crazy. No one else is out here. No one else seems to be awake. I don’t think it’s even a new enough car to have key-less entry or anything that could control the light remotely.... And even if it did, car dome lights cannot not flicker like that when a remote is used. I’ve witnessed the paranormal several times before, but never while listening to a scary story; which I often do- especially at night, especially outside.
Faulty wiring be cray-cray. That, or they didn't close the door properly and a light breeze is causing it to barely activate the button that turns the light on when you open the door. Why do people jump straight to paranormal?
I bristle when you say " long- winded" and " tangent" in reference to to her narrative. Youth is impatient sometimes arrogant, often clueless because they lack wisdom based upon experience.
They had better technology back in the 70s than today but they couldn't figure out how to give astronauts more oxygen? I do find it amazing to think how much in the dark we are from whats really been happening
This was enthralling; I thoroughly enjoyed it. Despite being a creepy pasta, it was so well written that it seemed real; almost to the point of making one question. In my opinion, that's when you know you've got a good story on your hands.
Maybe something worse maybe we’re in the era of the end of our days Ik this is a fiction story but space is huge so who knows what’s out there and what’s to come
These ones about space, the ocean, and top secret government shenanigans are my favorites. I think it has something to do with the fact that for all we know, this could be true. We have no idea what’s out there in space or really what’s even in our own oceans here on Earth. The unknown is scary.
Congrats you are talented. This is entertainment at it's best. Great script. For those of us who have been at it for 35 years, the USSR and The US went in 59'. The Nazi's went much earlier. The "battle" that Phil Schneider mentions was an implanted memory. The battle was between US and USSR military, 65 were killed. The USSR was banned from Luna (Project Adam) for a year.

Born to late to explore the planet and born too early to explore the universe
Whoa hey that's what I'm obsessed with
Fun Fact: my grandpa helped build/work on the rocketships and equipment for NASA. There are still things that he worked on that he can't tell anyone about.
Any more storys?
2 months later and this story still gives me chills and that ending still gets to me.
Me too definitely. I decided to take a pause today and listening to this is forcing me to relax
same for me
His grandma : Dead space is a real thing.
My grandma : Eat !
Me : I'm full i can't.
My grandma : So you have chosen death.
Thanks for the laugh
If you didn't gain atleast 5 kilos after leaving your grandma's house did you really went?
my grandma: "thank god, i really hope with covid we'll finally have the thing that's gonna wipe out civilization" lol
Her voice reminds me of old lady Winona Ryder in Edward Scissorhands.
Lol took the words right out of my mouth 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂 thats so accurate
That's exactly what I was first thinking at the beginning of the story!
I still have Edward Scissorhands on DVD! It's one of my all time favs!
Tim Burton films are my favorite!
Thought it was only me haha
the voice of grandma was played by an actor reading the transcript of conversations between the grandson and her over several days. but don't let the 'creepypasta' name fool you, the story is a genuine one.
Did she ever mention a man named Carl?
Man the people who can makes these long stories that all connect and scare the heck out of me are amazing

I don’t usually like story’s like this but your voice made this one so much better! Thanks you man. Keep up the great work!
As someone who’s studying astrophysics, wanting to work at NASA, I love this
Hell yes, are you a fan of Jack Parsons? He's one of my my top 3 favorite people.
He was a rocket scientist and founded JPL, and was in the O.T.O. (I only gave that basic info to get people curious about him).
Alexia De Sousa I also study astrophysics! That’s why I love the stories of space and aliens specifically from this channel.
Right on. Love this videos comment section. Stay with your goals.
Kyle Schoneck-schranz that’s awesome!!
limbo 777 I just searched him up, and wow!! That’s actually really interesting!
GRANDMA ISN’T TALKING! SHE SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE YOUNG TRYING TO SOUND OLD. CAN’T LISTEN
This sounds like someone reading a script. Sounds like the female actress narrating Edward Scissorshands. It's not a memory, it's read.
It's Lorraine McFly from the year 2025.
I see a new video from you come up and I have to stop myself from smiling like a lunatic in the break room. Thank you!
Hey! I’m new to narrating and would love you to check me out! 👻

Best one ever. Talk about a soft disclosure, Your grandmother was the best. You should be exceedingly proud. Thanks.
It's fiction, bro.
These stories are amazing I use to listen to stories as such ages ago and here recently stumbled back on creepy pasta and love the creepy aura it can cause.
Glad you like them!
Even in stories, Buzz Aldrin is still the ultimate nice guy.
You guys do such a great job together. I don’t often like the significant other duos for narrating but you guys BOTH have a gift for it.
Thank you so much!
Either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both scary a/f
If we are alone why were we chosen I dnt understand why do we have so much will power why do we sense what going to happen how can we speak and believe in good will come and it do what really is life we are all powerful beings in a way why are we so special
If we aren't alone why haven't we met others or are they cloaking their selves for us I believe we have met beings that are not of this world in humanly form because I have seen if but then again ppl will say the same when i have helped them
Just my ideology brother

Oh! So very true, hun! It WILL get better. When? Depends on Leadership, as well as the general public listening to the CDC, WHO, Dr. Fauci in the US, Doctors & nurses on the front lines, as well as the people who have survived this dreadful virus.
Nobody has to panic nor become hysterical over this terrible crisis, but, damn! Common sense seems to be in short supply.

Great Story, excellent narration and the ending was both happy and sad, a rare combination. I listen to all kinds of creepypastas and stories but some of my favorites have to be space based stories. Thanks again for the excellent narration ( both you and romnex) and another shout out to the author for an engaging and interesting story.

More of this, love the history and the adventures of spunky Nasa grandma. Great voice acting too, fun for all involved. The end nearly made me cry
I just found you a few days ago. I love all the stories I have heard. Thank you.
This is the best so far in my history of listening to creepy pastas while doing normal human things. Thanks Dark Somnium, you’re doing a great job entertaining us and keeping us sane during this outbreak. Stay safe everyone.
I spotted a mistake at 08:09. If they were facing their morality, they would be facing their ethics and behaviour, I think the writer means they were facing their mortality, meaning they were facing end of their lives,
Good catch mein furor I thought I was alone with this one
Roger Morris Auto suggest/correct is ruining communication!
Don't be so nitpicky. I caught that too.
The funny part is that this could actually be for real and yet none of us would actually know. We just thought it was a story of horror
That is what I was thinking. After all, the truth is stranger than fiction, and I have often wondered how much inside knowledge is contained within some of the most incredible stories.
It does intersect with the hoax that there were other apollo missions we didn't know about.

Thanks.

I love these space horror stories so good because you just never know ...

Cray girl
That was wonderful to experience reading through that lol
Faulty wiring be cray-cray. That, or they didn't close the door properly and a light breeze is causing it to barely activate the button that turns the light on when you open the door. Why do people jump straight to paranormal?

No the unknown is beautiful and exciting, yes can be scary too!
Congrats you are talented. This is entertainment at it's best. Great script. For those of us who have been at it for 35 years, the USSR and The US went in 59'. The Nazi's went much earlier.
