- Awesome launch of Starship this morning! Here’s my phone video that captures the excitement of the crowd and the immense sound of the rocket. This is from 6 miles away at South Padre Island, Texas. From the 8th floor of the Margaritaville Beach Resort.
Again the was a test flight so incredibly pleased that it got farther than the first test flight last April.
Taken with an iPhone 14 Pro. Just set the phone on a tripod and let the recording go. Starship goes out of frame but the sound continues. I was too busy with my other cameras to move the phone during the launch.
Other camera shots (close-up), including those from my remote cameras near the pad are on our social media channels. - Наука та технологія
That is probably the most violent launch sound I’ve ever heard, and I worked with the F9 all the time. Insane! Love it!
@@roncaruso931This was 6 miles away (with people allowed to be around 5) and spectators were about 3.5 miles away at Saturn V
@@roncaruso931I don't know if you are aware but this rocket is twice the power of the Saturn 5
@@roncaruso931not all of us are old enough to have seen the Saturn V launch but I’ll buy you a cookie if you want :)
@@roncaruso931this rocket is substantially louder than Saturn 5 due to how many engines there are
@@roncaruso931 wtf you on about? Stop being a boomer. It's a prototype of the most powerful rocket ever made designed to be relatively affordable and reusable for space industry. It uses engines that no one thought could be made and they reach pressures no engine has ever achieved. It's no toy. It makes saturn 5 look like a toy.
The sound of thunder!! That crackling is incredible, pure unadulterated power
those Engine sound is crazy
The sound of the sky being torn apart, amazing.
How in the world do alien spacecraft move without all of that noise and heat generated? We are soooo far behind😱
@@prmath aliens only exist in movies, we dont know how advanced any civilization is
@@tyle_2860 What about the pentagon whistleblower
@@tyle_2860it's better we don't know , if one day we know it will cause mass hysteria😂
@@FireKingMadness if aliens actually exist, do you think the government would allow him to say that
Absolutely incredible sound. Thank you.
Oi ! Hi ! Thanks You Very Much !!! This idea to use of the Metalic Sodium, was me, Bráulio Machado Campos. Thank you Very Much !!! Big Hug ! All The Best !!!
Excellent footage and audio. THANK YOU!
Glad you enjoyed it! We sure did!
amazing, from 6 miles away, that sounds is incredible
Amazing and much louder than the first launch! All 33 raptors performing at peak performance this time!! Also crazy to think from the top of the rocket to the end of the flame is over a quarter mile in length!
This is the best video of the launch so far. The audio is superb
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
The rhythm of the acoustical sound wave like playing a drum. I have never heard a rocket sound like this. I think dis is a good thing!!!😎
Thanks for posting this! Great reaction
This is Amazing, i have no words how human kind can make this such thing.
It is a old technology Oldje then 80y . This is bullshit rocket engine
If a persons from 2000 years ago saw this. They would think it was God leaving.
nice shot and sound! Thank you!
Amazing footage! If you look in the middle left you can see the trail form the NASA WB-57 imagery plane!! Can’t wait so see videos form it.
Yeah isn’t that awesome! I noticed that after I uploaded the video. I love seeing the jet turn away after liftoff!
Yeah, that and the images from the IMAX cameras that spacex installed near the pad.
Amazing sound! Thank you!
Sounds amazing.
great footage, but amazing breathtaking audio!
I love the deep crackle of those 33 raptor engines firing in unison!
this is the most expensive alarm clock in the world
It sure woke me up! 😆
In the last seconds of the video the altitude of the rocket was 12.5 miles so the sound was coming from a distance of about 14 miles, really incredible... I don't want to think about the noise at 100 yards!🙃
Did you consider the speed of sound aswell in this equation? It takes the sound almost a minute to travel 12 miles
@@peppi0304 Yes, at the start it is 26 seconds, then I wrote "about" because the rocket exceeds the speed of sound and also at 10 miles the air temperature is -50°C, so it is very difficult to make a precise calculation 🙂
sound propagation through the atmosphere doesnt care how fast the thing that creates it is@@Renda2000
i still dont get how you even "roughly" you get those numbers
@@Renda2000 assuming it goes straight up and not too much sideways i get this and the t+1min and 12 seconds its around 12 km up
((9.6km^2+12km^2)^.5)/0.315 m/s = 48 seconds. which matches the end of the video at almost 2 minutes. So 12 km are vertically plus the 9.6 km horizontally gets you about 9.5 miles in hypothenuse.
@@peppi0304 no, starship telemetry after 1.30 (1'56"-26") says 20km=12.5miles, non 12 km, sound speed a.s.l. is 334 m/s, good day
Thanks mate. Fcking awesome!
amazing sound
Thanks for the Video ❤❤❤
Really cool. Gives you a great perspective. Thanks for your handiwork 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
@@YourSpaceJourney Cheers to you 👍

absolute insanity. I hope to one day see it in person
living here would be cool af
This is what humanity is meant to do. Amazing.
Amazing Cameraman!
brooooooo.. your sound quality is insane! My windows are shaking over here 😂
Yeah honestly I can’t believe the phone picked up the sound so well. It was my backup in case my other cameras didn’t work but it performed great 😊
Wow! Power!!
Well half of that was exciting.
cracking like my vape :) nice sound so clear !
Didn't you mean to say 'crackling'?
So sick
It is almost like it got a pop and bang ecu tune 🤣✌
My 07 ford focus sounds exactly the same when I start it up....😂
This is such crisp footage. Amazing quality.
But did you ever want to throttle camera designers for never giving the user a "permanent infinite focus" option, so issues like autofocus wouldn't plague intentionally distant captures?
Unbelievable amount of decibels.. Although at this point you have to think more in terms of continued EXPLOSIONS.
The banging sound is IMplosions, the atmosphere crashing back into itself once the rocket exhaust has lost it's momentum.
@@TransoceanicOutreach Implsions are explosions from the other side
Cool how the con trail to the left that shows the plane got diverted around launch.
Love it, but It deserve to be a little bit longer...

Did you see the aircraft to the left and then the piece out at 1:40 ?
Yep that was NASA’s WB-57 imaging aircraft. Bonus!
im going to watch the next launch, where should i take the kids to see it?
I’d recommend South Padre Island, Texas. Everyday Astronaut Tim Dodd has an excellent video that discusses where to stay and what to do: ua-cam.com/video/aWvHrih-Juk/v-deo.htmlsi=aYxXfHYqdIXZ1rG1
That one bird was like "WTF! RUN(fly) FOR YOUR LIVES! WE'RE BEING ATTACKED AAAAAAARRRRGHHH"
Awesome video! What video recorder did you use?
Thanks! That was an iPhone 14 Pro
So bitter that I overslept the stream…
Wow, you could have tracked the rocket itself after launch. Woud have loved to see the RUD of the booster from this perspective.
I wish I did - that would have been awesome!
@@YourSpaceJourneynext time 👍
The system seems to work..go figure. I suspect the next launch will come soon.
is it as loud irl as it sounds on video?
Louder!
no birds were harmed in this launch fish and wildlife, no seals had hearing problems afterwards
Haha! Totally agree 👍
did you see what about it?'s episode where he showed fish and wildlife putting headphones on small captured seals to simulate a sonic boom to test them? It looked so stupid and comical@@YourSpaceJourney
Yes I love @Whataboutit -Felix and his team are awesome. And that episode about the fish and wildlife concerns was crazy. 😝
which city is that?
South Padre Island, Texas (I’ll add that to the description-thanks!)
Was it just me who seen it?
Could hasd used my samsung S23 ultra for extra zoom. 😅
You forgot to lock the focus...
Yep-I realized that afterwards. I guess I just had too many other things to focus on (3 other cameras and a, well gigantic Starship lol )😆
You could've followed it with the camera!
I wish I did!
All the people were hooting and hollering, till they got hit with a sound wave, and it went silent from the people. I wish I could’ve been there. I didn’t have enough gas money.
Actually the crowd didn’t go silent, the sound waves from the rocket drowned them out!
And then there are flatearthers….
people in Gaza and Ukraine probably hate this sound..but for me it sounds great because we live in a free world!?most I hope do..peace!
When the subject spends the second half of the clip out of frame then you know that the clip wasn't filmed with a potato, it was filmed by a potato.
Damn these stupid phones and their stupid auto-focus....
Totally agree!
happened to me with my camcorder too lol, hate AF
