and how many miles up going at +1k mph and accelerating i think about 30 or 40 miles up on this short clip rough estimate incredible sound.
AND with honestly crappy mics.. I mean, they are great for voice just as they are made for, but you could tell even at this distance they were getting blown out. Wow to hear that in person!!!

I was by La Copa Inn, in the island. I could feel it in my entire body. I'll never forget it. I'm planning to see the next launch as well. Everyone should see a launch at least once. It is truly amazing. It left me speechless.

I've never seen you so quiet and emotional, don't worry, it was the same here, still gets goosebumps from those shockwaves. This is the start to the next level, and I'm happy I can experience this at my age. I've seen Apollo, the Space shuttle, now Starship.
I miss those sonic booms we used to hear in the 60's. On the farm I could look up and see a contrail moving over head.
When it got to about 1:00 high i knew the blast was coming. It made the cows and horses jump. It was part of life in the
60's.

The sound of POWER
The flame was incredible. It looked to be 3 times as long as the Starship and booster combined.
The rocket and flame together are about 1/4 MILE tall! It's remarkable how huge this thing is, the angry astronaut's video puts it into some perspective.

I was like that for the Total Lunar Eclipse in Illinois in 2017 what a glorious thing to witness and feel a part of. I still hae to go back to Space x, they cancelled twice while I was there.
The tilt you see is pitching down range. We love ya.
To me it looked like the launch achieved a good 75% of its goals. The launch and main booster separation looked perfect. And that was the main goal of the launch. The second stage lit off and took over. Eventually, something went wrong with that and the mission was terminated deep into the launch cycle. The main booster drifted away from the second stage and then exploded maybe 15 seconds later. Not sure why it exploded but it might have been intentionally destroyed. I don’t think the main booster was suppose to do a controlled landing this time as CNN claimed in an article I read shortly after the launch ended. But I think SpaceX had a pretty launch this morning. And likely learned a lot.
After the main booster separated it was supposed to fly back towards the launch site, then do a controlled splashdown in the water several miles off the coast as a test of its landing capabilities. The second stage if it had survived would have reentered the atmosphere near Hawaii, but it would not have attempted a controlled splashdown it would have just slammed into the water.
I came here to hear the launch sounds, not her screaming.

People seem to forget that these raptor engines are not like the thrusters that we grew up with on the space shuttle, and other rockets. I mean, they are still in their experimental phase. I think there was damage to the booster, due to the hot staging by the vehicles engines. This is most likely the most important part of their data collection. Figuring out what percentage of power to use on each set of engines, to most efficiently separate the two masses. I wouldnt be surprised to see structural failure near the hot staging ring, in the coming reports. However, the booster did roll... Albeit the roll looked undesirable. Right before the booster explosion, it looked like the booster vented an enormous amount of fuel, and it looked like it may have been upside down. As far as the ship's Flight termination system, .. All I could see was maybe a few pieces of the heat shield fell off. The predetermined (pre programed) flight parameters were set to take the ship "to the brink of orbit, not all the way to orbit - to stress the hull, and the heat shield.". It could have detonated due to the sensors reading too much heat... but honestly thats just a shot in the dark, as I could not see it at termination. All-in-all, I would say Elon and the entire Space-X team has cause to calibrate a lot of success on this flight test. But personally, I really liked the explosion. It was really cool.
Any news on the launch pad. I know they made quite a few changes over the months. I’m wondering if it could take the heat this time around. Let’s hope they can launch another soon

Very concise summation. I've re-watched the launch several times on different channels and I agree. The only thing, IMO, Starship experienced a RUD before SECO. Just an opinion.

I watched a Shuttle from Jetty Park launch and when the soundwaves hit me I could feel it in my chest. Can't fathom what those 33 birds sounded like and literally felt like.

As a child I would go to titan 111 launches at Vandenberg my day ran tvls that's television launch support she would do great ellie rocks and the feeling of vibrations at launch with the sound is unforgettable lucky her

When you are calm enough and don't have the worries of making ends meet, you can see the beauty in a lot of things. Learn a trade you can do online or around the country, get an RV, and travel and park and travel and park....his/her eyes open!
The Saturn V rocket made a similar tilt on launch. A small 1-degree tilt in order to more comfortably clear the tower. I am not 100% certain, but that may have been why the Starship did it.

I have a very short bucket list. Seeing a major launch is at the top. Either Starship in Boca Chica or Falcon at Cape Kennedy.
I could see the vibrations in the reflections from the phone mounted on the tripod!
