I have experienced exactly what you said. And it’s eaten me up inside, even though it’s just hair.. it really is a big part of who you are.. and the fact you pulled the information about sensitivity and pain tolerance..that plays a huge role in personality.. so when people are confused about my strawberry blonde hair it’s like they’re confused about who I am.. and that makes me feel very alone.. I have messed up my hair from trying to get it to a red color that makes sense to people.. and now I am struggling with damaged hair and I am missing my natural color. After seeing this… it’s helped me say f*** people who don’t get it, that’s their loss for not understanding the beauty of a natural strawberry blonde. Thank you so much for posting this. Literally! I was the only red head (strawberry blonde) at my school, and there was this new kid that came who has hair that is more red than me. People were joking about how they were the “superior ginger”. When I met the new kid, the first thing she said to me was “are you kidding me? That isn’t even red hair! It’s DARK BLONDE” and it honestly really hurt. I think that strawberry blond hair is WAY more rare than bright red, or other more red colored hair. People don’t see how beautiful it is hah. Just stumbled across this video! I have always had naturally strawberry blonde hair. It's amazing how some people have called me "carrot top" or "ginger" and others will argue and say "You have blonde hair, it's not red." You look like you could be my much younger sister, our coloring is almost exactly the same! It can be quite frustrating to live with this weird "in-between" hair color, but at least we won't go grey!

I’ve heard that comment before too, also “dirty blonde” and I’m like “wtf, are you blind?”..in my head, I don’t actually say it lol.
But I also don’t like to flaunt any physical feature I didn’t earn. Some people DO have brown hair and dirty blonde hair and maybe they would like to be a different color, maybe not. I don’t like to indulge my own ego when it comes to physical features. I actually have quite the ugly face so I know how it feels to be on the other side of the humble bragging, so even though I have very few desirable traits, I do not like to say “look at me” in the name of “self love”. To me self love is about loving who you are at your core, not what you look like. My hair color is fading now anyway, it’s going from red and blonde to the color of a faded, dirty penny, or worse. Eventually it will be all gone..not looking forward to it because I don’t have anything else going for me. When blondes and red heads go gray, it shows up as a dulling of their natural color.

I’m strawberry blond a bit on the light side and I get made fun of for being a ginger at school and it’s annoying because I don’t understand why people have so much hate for a hair color or even a skin color.
As a strawberry blonde, this video was so necessary. My hair color has been a battlefield my whole life, especially when I point out that I’m technically a redhead just a different shade. I find that ppl argue less with me when I call it strawberry blonde as it’s sounds kind of like a neutral between, but it’s so dumb when ppl ask you what color your hair is and then tell you no ??? Like why did you ask if you’re going to correct me on my own hair color like it’s a set up for some sort of “gotcha” moment🙄it’s so weird that a hair color has to be so controversial
You're so lucky to be a strawberry blonde, it's so pretty; I was just a redhead, as a kid my hair was copper, not blonde, and now it is faded to a very warm dark bonde. In the past, I have felt some stigma at being a red-head, ill-tempered, bad character - there's no way I'm going back to this color at the moment; I highlight my hair to blonde balayage and feel good with it.
I'm in my 40's and didn't realize until a few years ago that I'm strawberry blonde, not simply golden blonde. My hair is very light and bleaches easily in the sun. It looks different colors depending on lighting, angle, and background color. My eyebrows and eyelashes are definitely blonde, very light. I remember observing that my hair was multicolored, but I had no idea it was "red".
After a few surgeries in which the anesthesiologists commented on my "red hair", and a few other people commented on it, I went looking for info on the internet and found out about strawberry blonde. I now understand that my brother and I are strawberry blonde, born to a mother who is blonde, and a father with brown hair. You have to go back to our great grandmother for red hair.
Anyway, regarding anesthesia, I've had several surgeries. When the anesthesiologists have commented on my red hair, everything went smoothly, I woke up in recovery easily and with no pain at all, and I felt pretty good for the first couple of days, until anesthesia wore off. For my last surgery, the anesthesiologist didn't notice because I had dyed my hair blue for Halloween and I didn't think to say anything. He must not have read notes from my previous surgeries either (which is scary). I woke up in agony, they gave me multiple doses of fentanyl and then dilaudid and still weren't able to get the pain under control. They had to stop because they'd given me so many IV pain meds my BP was sky high and I was barely breathing. The nurse was giving me oxygen and screaming at me to breathe. It was terrifying. Then they gave me oral oxycodone and finally got the pain under control, but that only lasted a few hours. My post-op pain came on much sooner than normal (not enough anesthesia in my system). I suspect that it's a miracle I didn't wake up during surgery. So yeah, knowing that you're a redhead matters.
Also, yes, obvious redheads tend to gatekeep if you're not red enough. Maybe they've endured more teasing and comments on their hair color and wear it like a badge of honor, and feel like if you're not "red enough" you haven't earned it? Non-redheads will deny it too, for various reasons. It makes me feel crazy to have my reality questioned like this. When I talk to other people about it they look like me like I'm a bit silly for even caring about it. Perhaps if you know what your hair color is, and have always known it, you are much more secure in your identity, in this regard at least.
Despite all the evidence, I still question my hair color and have thought more than once about having my DNA analyzed to answer the question once and for all ...
Sister, we have the most beautiful haircolour, and yes everyone does not see it, but that doesnt mean anything, its just because its so rare unique and versitail! It looks completely different in different lights, and thats totally unique. Wear it with pride! I look a lot like you but maybe a little bit "less ginger", so I have been denied my gingerhood many times XD :) But its just funny to me. I am a proud ginger/strawberry/blonde in the summer/ dark in the winter/ redhead! :D Much love!
I think at the end of the day, we should not be prideful about what we had no choice or say in. None of us earned our hair color, this includes the “true red heads” who are gatekeeping this girl. We should not strive to be like them.
@@aikaterineillt9876 Well you are right, pride is something to have for your acomplishments and not what you were born as, but as many other groups using the term the meaning has slightly changed. But anyway, maybe pride isnt the right word but I think we agree on the message that we are all good and worthy and should feel beautiful as we are. I just wanted to express some strawberry love since this video made me so happy as ive felt the same but never heard it expressed in this way. Strawberry love and all kinds of love, bless!

I've been strawberry blonde my whole life. I refer to myself as a redhead. Being now 42 it is much lighter. Still strawberry blonde covered in freckles. People can (and do) call me blonde. When I hear blonde I hear barbie. I do not have barbie blonde hair. I know who I am. I live like a redhead and all it comes with.✊🏻 Power to the genetic mistakes out there.
i lived my a whole life as a blond and became ash blond in my teens, and out of nowhere i had a red glow, i was like o that can happen, and then people couldn't decide which hair color i had. i moved now to sweden and my hair started to change out of nowhere, i didn't colour my hair for several years and always cut quite a length off everytime i go to the barber until covid came. my hair transformed in being very blond in the ends, in the middle being very red and on my top i'm, ash brown. and i didnt knew for some time why it happened or which colour i'm, my boyfriend calls me copper blond, what is just strawberry blond. and i wondered for a long time if it was after effect of my teen when i coloured my to a lot of brown, but the red glow stayed over my whole hair now and did not change. i'm intrigued to shine light in different brightness and different ankles, my hair has all 3 colours in its shine. i discover i look more brown headed when my hair is very fatty but fully clean it looks a lot redblond. i got a lot of compliments for it because none saw it before.

In college, my hairdresser asked if I had rust in my water!!! That was the first time I started to realize. It's not the water because I have lived all over since then.
I really don't get people who have audacity to tell you that you don't have red shade in your hair. Like I get that somebody considers strawberry blond hair separate colour to both blond and red(mix of both), but to say your hair don't have element of red to them, is simply ridiculous. Everybody should agree that your hair at least should be included to wider spectrum of reddish hair. Who cannot see that should get their eye-sight checked.

I've had numerous hairdressers say they have clients who pay a lot of money to achieve the bright blonde and sparkling ginger of my hair. All genetics: mother ginger hair and bright green eyes. She had Czech genes. Slavs also are known for light hair and eyes. My skin is peachy. Eyes green/light brown. Often been told I have unusual coloring. And it does turn silver, not gray.
I have natural strawberry blonde hair. People say it just looks dirty blonde with red highlights. Theyve always told me its a shade of blonde and so I was surprised to find out its actually the lightest shade of red.

I have strawberry blonde hair it looks really bright and red when the sun hits it and it’s the only thing I love about myself although people will say it’s just a light dull brown and that I’m not special or it looks stupid when I never even I said I was special or bragged why can’t people just just let me be confident about one thing :(
It’s the only thing I have left to feel good about too. But it’s fading as I age. I’ve had the same comments honestly, and I never brag about it either because I know how it feels for people who don’t have this hair color but may want it.
I have tons of other undesirable features and I LOATHE when people flaunt their looks, they did literally nothing to earn them. I applaud you for not bragging and it is very wrong of them to make you feel terrible ESPECIALLY when that is one of the only things you feel confident about, I am so sorry.

Being any shade of natural RED hair makes you a target and its usually a twofer target because with redhair comes freckles. Growing up in 60/70s with redhair was hard enough, from kindergarten on. Our mother an auburn redhead always told us freckles were angel kisses. However the rest of the non-redhead world didn't quite see it like that. Don't let humans define you, that's what I learned young and stay out of the sun as much as possible. I have never had anyone accuse me of not being a real redhead, that's laughable, but I have had hundreds of women say how envious they were of my natural strawberry blonde hair.
Todays hair color craze allows a range of red shades for the UNRH (unnatural redheads) but they will never be a true redhead because we are more then our hair color and we know it!
I'm with you girl! Don't agree with some things, but I do agree with the "hair color" battle. As a strawberry blonde, I have had (since childhood) been called blonde, red/ a red head ( a red head has negative impacts) , and brunette. No one can agree on my hair color. Thank you, to my mom! She knew I was a strawberry blonde when I finally started growing hair at the age or 2ish. She constantly reminded me that my hair was unique and not duplicated. I see video's in 2020+ and know I get it. 35 years later, non of the channels can truly duplicate what WE were blessed with.
im strawberry blonde as well, ive heard many times that my hair isn't red or ginger or whatever. Personally I was really on the lighter side as a kid and over the years my hair has darkened- but its still the blonde/lighter red on top and then the brownish red the further you go in. I started dying my hair a few shades darker red because I got tired of people saying stuff about it. its kinda insulting sometimes when a large trait of my family for 3 generations (at least) is that every redhead in our family always gives their kids red hair. My grandfather had fire red hair, my mother was strawberry blonde, and I'm strawberry blonde too. Half the time I want to carry around a picture of my birth certificate to show people.
Its also frustrating to me when people think they can dye their hair this color- its not just one solid color- its several colors. I look at my hair when its not dyed and I can find individual strands of blonde, red and brown.
I was born with strawberry blonde but it faded away know no one believes me when I tell them I had strawberry blonde hair as a baby and growing up

It was more like your hair when I was younger. I believe my hair has lost almost all of its red because it’s so dark. I miss my natural hair when I was younger. I don’t want to dye it but it’s sad. And I completely agree with you and some people dye their hair to be a “red head” which is kinda offensive in a way because of what you said, because it is more than a hair color. I think people should be able to change their hair color to whatever they want, that said, I am like you, in that my hair’s brightness has faded so it looks less strawberry blonde than it did when I was younger. Yet I don’t want to dye it because I’m so used to not wanting to, and nothing is going to be able to do my natural color justice. Good news is most people with red hair have light eyes..which can look very striking with gray hair.

I love my strawberry hair and it is DEF red! My DNA analysis prove this as well! But yeah I have a lot of blonde too. In flourescent lighting it looks more ashy and pale but in the sun it's like GOLD METAL! I'm always shocked when people don't see the red. And it annoys me so much. It's so apparent! Strawberry, Alburn, and Red are all red hair! eanwhile my white blonde sister gets redheaded comments all the time. It's so weird. People's eyes are weird. What drives me crazy is I rarely ever see my hair color anywhere. I'm trying to figure out my skin tone and every video that comes up I don't see myself in and it's so frustrating! They show dark gingers and then people with copper hair and then people who have no red in their hair at all but Medium dark Strawberry Blonde and Blue eyes never!
A ton of my family on both my moms side and my dads has red hair but its always been a very bright or dark red and I ended up with strawberry blonde hair, I grew up loving my hair and thinking it was amazing to have red hair but I get these comments every time my hair color comes up so many people have called my hair blonde to the point where I felt like it wasn't really red. Its almost like people discredit the color this video was in my feed and im so glad someone decided to talk about it.
I never knew what that feeling was that I got when people said 'your hairs not red' to be completely honest I don't like my hair I'd be happier if it was blonde like people have said but I still get a strange feeling and after watching this I can definitely relate 💕
I don't even know what to feel because everyone says something different about my hair color. It also looks different in different light, clothing colors, how it is styled, etc. It's weird.

Its a weird colour. Mine is strawberry but also very light blonde, so confusing. You dont know what colours suit you, cool undertones or warm. I kind of hate my strawberry blonde for that fact.

Thank you so much! You honestly confirmed my strawberry blonde hair. I recently went to go get a baby tooth extracted, and I had to get much more Novocaine because in my previous experiences, the average amount wasn't enough and I felt all the pain. AND my doctor even said that redheads/strawberry blondes do feel pain more, and most likely need more medications in situations like mine.
My dentists office has a completely separate plan for redheads. One of the first things they asked me is if my hair was natural.
I am a natural strawberry blonde red head. It breaks my heart that anyone would say mean things because of the color of your hair. There is an old saying - happy people don't hurt other people, unhappy people do. So just realize that anyone who says mean or hurtful things about you - they are the person with the problem, not you. Say a prayer for them and walk away.

The sun can bleach out the red also, if you have photosensitive hair, which you likely do if you consider yourself to be a strawberry blonde.
same here, I had a buzzcut for a while, and my hair was so blonde that one time I got called bald by a classmate in 4th grade. Never had a buzzcut since 🤷♂
My older brother was a strawberry blonde as a child it darkened to brown in his teens but you can see his OG coloring in his beard now.

Strawberry blondes are red heads that are the lightest shades of red. I have also known going up the redness in my hair will show more during certain seasons. And the older I got the more red was shown. I regrets snot flaunting it. I see all these people trying to become a strawberry blonde but the thing is, no box dye or even getting it done professionally will be a strawberry blonde. A strawberry blonde is a rare color that cannot be replicated.

Very interesting, growing up i had strawberry blonde hair. But after i had children my hair got much darker. And my brother also he red hair. He got teased a lot as kid. And as far as pain I believe that i deal with chronic pain and have for many years. And I noticed that pain tolerance is high compared to other people but i still in tons of pain all over my body and spine. And very much true that i can take medication that knock out some people but not me. Thank you very interesting and helpful

My grandfather too the dna test and it came back that he was 100% Irish.
I have not met another one in my life.
Along with that, I am the tallest in my entire family tree aunt’s and uncle’s families included at a size of 6’6” tall.
All this being said, I know your pain ( to a certain degree, I don’t want to sound like I know you completely) and when listening to your voice, I hear similarities to my own recordings.
It’d be nice to say everything is great or something kind, but we are one of the biggest minority on the earth. Not the mainstream definition, but the original version.
Not to many people to relate to out here. If you’d ever like to chat, let me know. I don’t want to be a creep or anything. Just having another person that can relate is wonderful. I have been told I think far to vastly improved degrees beyond the normal level. Others have suggested it’s mental disabilities. Has this ever been the case for you? So many questions, so little time.
Everybody says my hair looks blonde end it kind of annoys me on the other thing you said I hate taking medicine I will not take medicine for pain in surgery only if I absolutely need it

Its usually the opposite for me, getting called a red head or a ginger when I consider myself blonde.
My baby girl is strawberry blonde and she is mixed with black/thai and German. People been saying she is just blond it’s not red but that’s not true she does have natural blonde highlights in her but the majority of her hair is strawberry blond. I hate that people don’t see it as red.

What happens if instead of an equal mixture of blonde and red you have brown and red.. I had strawberry blonde hair for years as a child and now its brown but with red undertones?
I’ve seen some people with hair like this before. As we age different genes can turn on. I’ve seen people refer to the hair color as strawberry brunette and it is a very pretty shade.

I'm strawberry blonde, but in highschool I got called "ginger" probably just as much as I was called my real name. Started to really dislike it and thought about dying my hair, but I didn't, and now one of my friends that called me ginger often realized "oh, that's not really ginger" and it's alright now 🤷♂ still get the occasional "You're a ginger!" comment on a post, put I don't let it effect me at this point cause it's just one guy

I have a constellation name and people don't say these days but with my hair colour strawberry blonde you pay a lot of money to dye there hair that colour but for some people,it's just what your born with. Dude im fucking 24 and I have decided to grow my natural hair color out... im fucking ginger. Im blown away. My baby photos i had red or blonde hair depending on exposure to the sun. I wasnt blonde enough for the blondes, or red enough for the redheads. Im going through an existential crisis 😂 thank you for this video

Sorry if this is random but my hair is mostly dark blonde with red/orange tints but when the sun shines on my hair it looks very red/orange. Is that also strawberry blonde? Im very confused about the hair color 😂
There is also the possibility of auburn, which still has red in it, but if you have any blonde at all then you most likely aren’t auburn and more likely to be strawberry blonde or copper.

I actually did get my DNA test done, I have a full mutation and I did some investigating and I have some genes that are not genotyped and they coincide with albinism. Thanks :) however I do darken my eyebrows as they are very blonde.
What I cant stand is that people throw around the word GINGER....Kinda is equivalent to the “N” word....

I have mixed feelings when people use the word ginger. I think in America it isn’t used as much, but I’ve definitely have heard “Ginger!” While out and about. I feel like it is something that kids would use more to hurt someone’s feelings. However in the UK I understand that it does hold negative connotations, enough that they now consider gingerism a hate crime and beyond the word ginger many more hurtful words are used. The one I find most offensive is ranga.

Is you hair really so dark? start liking yourself every person is differently beautiful and that we are so different makes us so beautiful

Strawberry blonde often looks different in certain lighting and there’s not just one shade of it my hair looks really bright and light red in the light but if I go somewhere darker it sometimes looks more brown stop hating
She most definitely has strawberry blonde hair, if not more on the red side.
You don’t understand what strawberry blonde is, in some light it can look red-brown, but that is not the correct term to refer to it as.
