I love people's reactions to hearing Pantera for the first time. Takes me back to junior high when I first heard them. Still my favorite band to this day. As a guitarist, Dimebag will always be my favorite guitarist, as well. RIP Dime and Vinnie
I hit year 11 in 92.... yup gen x.... still have the original tee, these guys way over did many of the old school bands of the time... So many people didn't like that. Being off centre isn't always a problem....
Its hard to believe but I'm from Dallas and I saw Pantera back when I was your age at a place called Joe's garage. It was a convenience store with a garage on the side. This was back in the 80s before they got big. I remember being in awe of Phil's singing, just like you were. The guitarist is, in my opinion, one of the top 5 of all time. Imagine going out on a Friday night and going to a auto repair shop and hearing a singer like Phil and the guitarist ripping it like u never heard before. Then an hour later smoking pot and shotgunning beers with those guys. Those were the days. You should listen to this love by Pantera, another classic
As much as I love Domination and that specific version the vocals does not stand out there. I would recommend better something like "Shattered" where his vocal range goes incredible high
Pantera originally formed as a hair metal band in the 1980's. When Phil joined the band, he brought with him some heavier music including Thrash metal. The band turned towards that direction and the rest is history. As for Thrash, you should listen to Megadeth. Dave Mustaine voice is no where as good as Phil's, but he has a unique sound and approach to delivering the lyrics he writes. Listen to the song "In my Darkest Hour", but not the official video. The official video is edited for time and has been shortened. A lyric video or the original album cut is better. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I don't know what I enjoy the most: whether a song I loved in my youth or your surprise faces! But I insist: your voice deserves a new video of you singing, young kid!
With this album and the tracks on it, I think Pantera had begun their journey to becoming one of metal’s top bands. And not many groups can say they truly were. What I love most about their sound is the very heavy use of groove in those songs. I know that groove is found in all sorts of music, but bands like them had so much of it that they got labeled groove metal. And Phil is a baritone, with a deep speaking voice, as you heard from his low lines. It’s just that instead of going for deep growls, his vocal style involves high screams, creating that exact contrast you mentioned.
If you are really interested in Phil's vocals, then you definitely should react to the whole The Great Southern Trendkill album, especially the first 3 songs! It is**heavy**
Great Southern Trendkill is Pantera's rawest album, definitely not one for metal beginners; my personal favorite album of theirs though. I'd love to see her react to Suicide Notes Part 1&2 together, those two really showcase Phil's vocal ability, all while making the listener feel his raw emotion at that time.
I'm a Pantera fan and regularly listen to their music, but Great Southern Trend Kill is way, way too much. Same with most the songs on Far Beyond Driven.
Hi. Loved your reaction to Cemetery Gates. This was great too! 😊 I love Pantera. Have been listening since I was in high school. I’m 49 now. I’ve been listening to an artist named Ren for a while now. He’s from the UK. He’s super talented and has a great singing voice. I recommend checking out his old band, The Big Push. Their cover mashup of I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop(Ren is wearing red suspenders, as there are a few versions and this is the best one) on UA-cam. It’s a great vibe and the talent level is apparent. Cheers!
Drummer and guitarist were brothers, absolute chemistry. Their daddy ran a country music studio and was a great musician, and they came up under his wing. Dallas/Fort Worth has produced many great talents, including Stevie Ray Vaughn. As for Phil, he is from Louisiana, and has done a million projects. Check out his band Down, the song :"Stone the Crow" is an extremely moody, bluesy, southern heavy rock song. His vocals and the music are much more complementary.

I read that Pantera is one of Floor Jansen's favorite bands, that she met her husband on tour when he was playing Pantera in his room and she went in to talk to him about Pantera. Hannes supposedly has said that "a metal singer who sings Opera and loves Pantera" hooked him on her immediately
If you want to hear an example of their range.... their next album (Planet Caravan) had a song 'Planet Caravan' that, even if you don't react to it, you should listen to

I'm new to your video song analysis, I also like opera, but I'm definitely a fan of rock and metal. I remember seeing pantera in garland Texas they had there first singer then , they sounded like the band RAT back then lol it was a very long time ago , great reaction 👍
GIve a listen to some of their late 80's hair metal stuff when Philip first joined the band, he was singing even better at that point. Or if you want to move further into their heavier discography check out "Hollow".
Pantera appeared out of nowhere in 1990 w/ 'Cowboys from hell'... and proceeded to demolish & conquer on tour... In reality, Pantera had spent years working on their craft as an indie heavy metal band from Texas... Brothers Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell were kids when the first heard and saw the band Kiss in the 70's... Darrell seemed to be better on the guitar, so Vinnie got a drum kit so that they could jam together in their dad's house...Van Halen and Judas Priest were huge early inspirations. In the early 80's while they were still in school, they formed Pantera w/ vocalist Terry Glaze and bassist Rex Brown joining... At the time, bands like Motley Crue, Twisted Sister and Dokken were becoming huge sporting big hair, spandex and eyeliner... so, Pantera went w/ those trends as they played shows and events in their local Texas area... Because their dad Jerry Abbott was a musician and had his own studio, Pantera was able to record 3 albums w/ Glaze on vocals - 'Metal magic' (1983)... 'Projects in the jungle' (1984) and 'I am the night' (1985). However, the band was also becoming fans of thrash metal and bands like Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax... and Terry Glaze was not that kind of a singer, so he was fired by 1986... Pantera could not find a replacement easily for months... but then, they finally met vocalist Phil Anselmo from New Orleans, who was also in a glam rock band... Anselmo recalled seeing Pantera play and was blown away - "They knew... and I knew... that they could play anything," he said and joined immediately. Pantera released a 4th album 'Power metal' in 1988, but they were still unsigned and doing local shows and putting out their own records... Every record label had passed on Pantera... Around 1989, Pantera decided that the glam trends were going away and the band was getting heavier... so, they opted to ditch the spandex and big hair and embraced the casual look that was in this video. In 1989, an A&R guy from Atco Records Mark Ross went to a Pantera show in Texas and he was blown away... The band saw him leave and assumed he had lost interest. But after the set, he came up to the band and told them that he left to call his label boss to arrange a contract to sign Pantera. Producer Terry Date recalled getting a call to work w/ 'the next Metallica' ... and he was dismissive at first, until he saw them play live and knew they were great... The studio sessions were quick and impressive, but Pantera's partying was legendary - shots during sessions... shots after sessions... drunken rowdyness... On Pantera's first tour for 'Cowboys from hell'... they rented an RV and it was destroyed by the band and crew... Vinnie Paul said, "I remember driving from Chicago to Minneapolis w/ no headlights..." The album did not chart initially, but Pantera won a huge fanbase on tour between 1990/ '91... they did not play any songs from their indie catalog (It went against their image in the 90's to be exposed as an 80's glam rock band) ...Their 1992 album 'Vulgar display of power' was even heavier and it charted in the top 40 charts as Pantera played high profile tours w/ Megadeth, Skid Row, and Ozzy Osbourne.
Saw them at Joes Garage in Jan, 89.... They were pretty popular by then around Texas and with the thrash metal scene. They were actually hanging with Metallica by 88
@@Duke_2373 Rita Haney said Metallica actually visted them in Texas around 1985 during the 'Ride the Lightning' tour... I think she posted a pic of Dime w/ a young James Hetfield.
el que juega muchocon los saltos de octava en la voz es MICHAEL KISKE de HELLOWEEN, te recomiendo su cancion MARCH OF TIME donde deja ver un registro impresionante y sobreagudo
i like your passion towards heavy metal and you just made a reaction video to a prog rock legend. one of these days, i might see your cute reactions when listening to Gorgoroth or Deicide haha
Pantera is one of my absolute favorite metal bands of all time! Phil’s range, especially back in the day was phenomenal. If you want to hear range from something newer and different you need to check out Nightwish. The most recent singer is an opera inspired Dutch woman named Floor Jensen. she is probably the greatest vocalist on the planet right now. Everyone knew to her usually do their first reaction to the live version of a song called Ghost Love Score from Wacken Open Air Festival in 2013. You should definitely do a reaction video for it.
You should have a listen toGuns n Roses "I.R.S" If you didnt listen to that song your channel is missing a piece i have never seen such an amazing vocals like that have a look!
Pantera is no doubt one of the best power metal bands out of Texas. Another must listen for you is Helstar's (another Texas band) "Remnants of War" and listen to James's highs he hits!
Hi Aaliyah, question / remark: If you like Floor (Nightwish) and Simone (Epica) Than I have something for you ! Check Ayreon !!! Begin with: Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down - The Source (2017) song / composition 13min (sort) with 11 main singers also Floor and Simone ! After that Check Ayreon - Everybody Dies (Ayreon Universe) LIVE also with Floor ! I'm very, very, very sure you will like and love it ! And there much form Ayreon. It's Prog/ metal / rock of the highest level. all songs are a story line. So when you dive in not the order of the song ! If you want to see and hear the composer / creator, Arjen Anthony Lucassen then check the song: Ayreon - Garden of Emotions (Electric Castle Live And Other Tales) LIVE ! The first singer is Arjen ! You only did one song and there are many more !!!!
Great song, one of my favorites! Maybe try a band called Helloween with a song called "Keeper of the Seven Keys" or " Halloween". Nice video, and keep up the great work with your channel. I always have a good time watching, thanks. Till the next one, Enjoy.
Dear Aaliyah, you enjoyed a lot and that's so pretty : )) In this case here is diffrent kinds of suggestions from same vocalist and big big show material. RECOMMENDED: Down-Lifer/Pillars of Eternity(first 3 Albums are absolute gold and out of this world). Phil Anselmo and The Illegals-Walk Through Exits Only. Warbeast with Phil Anselmo-Conflict and Family, "Friends" and Associates. Any Pantera album but as a Cowboys from hell lover you must look for live show on Ozzfest at 2000! And of course Moscow '91. Please hear that call, you will adore each one in another way(Sorry if your ears are not yet ready for some), don't look how many people suggested, count doesn't matter quality and speciality does! Take care!..
You kidz are catching up. I was listening to this back in the 90's. Pantera don't age they get better as time passes. Whilst talking about the 90's you need to look up Mike Patton the greatest range of any known singer to date.
Its Phil Anselmo on lead vocals and Dimebag Darrell on lead guitar. Just wanted to clear that up with you as in your confusion last time you had Dimebag as lead vocals. Dimebag Darrell was probably, without a doubt in my opinion, the greatest rock guitarist of all time. Sadly, back in 2004 while Dimebag and his drummer brother Vinnie Paul, both former founding members of Pantera, were 30 seconds into their set at a club in Columbus, Ohio when a fanatical fan of Pantera who was mad at Dimebag Darrell because he would not reunite Pantera again (He was playing in his new band Damage Plan)...the fan came thru the back door entrance which led him straight to the stage and with his gun extended to the back of Dimebag's head, rapidly fired 4 times killing the worlds best guitarist instantly and also killing 3 other people while injuring 1 I believe. RIP and all hail to the king and lord of heavy metal rock...Dimebag Darrell Abbott from Arlington, Texas.💔🌹......P.S..My apologies to you. Last reaction I could have sworn you stated Dimebag as lead vocalist but I did hear you stating Phil as lead vocalist in this video so please accept my apologies! 😂
Probably the "hardest" music anyone might suggest to you. That being said, I'm not overly familiar with them, but know enough that I know the music is good and surprisingly think you'll enjoy it.
I saw Pantera a bunch of times and they always sounded right off the record live. The intensity and crazy crowd was not something cooked up for a video either. This was standard behavior at any Thrash show back then. You'd leave bruised, sometimes bloody, and that blood might not be all yours either. It was all done with a sense of camaraderie and esprit de corps. Great times, probably never to be repeated.
I am born in 79 and I must say that all the young millenials missed that epic era when the music was actualy good. No tik tok no crappy rap and no Taylor Shit. Im talking real gold music...
We need a taka adele cover reaction Taka is the man as well as his band one ok rock people have been sleeping on them for so damn long and no one is doing reactions this guy's cover is amazing but all his originals are amazing
@@AaliyahCapilino problem, One Ok Rock is the pride of Japan their song "we are" live performance was incredible esp Taka was so sick but he didn't want the show to be canceled so he went on anyway and he still sounded amazing and the whole crowd singing along with him absolute chills... I love ya reaction videos keep em coming!!
I loved your 2 reactions to Pantera but as an opera singer that you are, I would like to see you react to Postmodern Jukebox: Creep (Radiohead cover by Haley Reinhart). Success!!
Aliya. Good morning…. A pleasure to greet. As always, your reactions are excellent... I wanted to ask you if you could react to Song So Hee with her cover of Spring Day by BTS, which is like a crossover with Korean folk music that I think is called Gugak... I came across it because of those algorithm things... I listened to it and was impressed … …… I looked up an interview they did with him and I was impressed with one of his answers and I don't know why it crossed my mind…. I transcribe that part for you: What does gugak mean to you? I have received this question many times. Each time I think for a moment and ask myself: "What can I say so as not to sound too cliché?" When I was younger, I always gave an overly formal answer: "Gugak is my destiny." Now, however, that is the exact answer I want to give. Yes, gugak is my destiny, I would say. If I had not demonstrated a natural talent for music at such a young age, if my parents had not noticed that talent, if they had not encouraged me to try singing in the National Singing Competition, or if I had given up . half way. , I would never have gotten this far. However, all those things happened. Taking all these things into account, I believe that gugak is my destiny and what I was born to do. Well, I don't want to be too extensive... I wish you happy holidays and a good start to the new year, which is already approaching... I wish you the greatest success. Greetings from the south of the world. PS1: I love your psalmodies… I wish you would upload more videos of it and sorry for the basic English
You're a beautiful opera singer but there's still a metal head in you wanting out!! You know how some singers change song from metal to country or something like that. If you can turn a Pantera song into opera i guarantee that video will blow up on here!!

Vinnie Paul said, "I remember driving from Chicago to Minneapolis w/ no headlights..."
The album did not chart initially, but Pantera won a huge fanbase on tour between 1990/ '91... they did not play any songs from their indie catalog (It went against their image in the 90's to be exposed as an 80's glam rock band) ...Their 1992 album 'Vulgar display of power' was even heavier and it charted in the top 40 charts as Pantera played high profile tours w/ Megadeth, Skid Row, and Ozzy Osbourne.
Yes, I saw a pic of Dime and James when Metallica was Promoting RTL@@sumonjamal1653

Phil is a beast! Loved your reaction.? ❤😊
Thank you!! 🥰
Awesome 😎
Thanks so much🥰
el que juega muchocon los saltos de octava en la voz es MICHAEL KISKE de HELLOWEEN, te recomiendo su cancion MARCH OF TIME donde deja ver un registro impresionante y sobreagudo
Thanks so much for sharing💕
i like your passion towards heavy metal and you just made a reaction video to a prog rock legend. one of these days, i might see your cute reactions when listening to Gorgoroth or Deicide haha
Oh thanks so much😊
Pantera is one of my absolute favorite metal bands of all time!
Thanks so much for sharing
Floor Jansen and her Husbabd Hannes van Dahl are fans of Pantera too,
😍😍😍
The last 30 secs of Cemetery Gates is by far his more impressive moment. IMHO.
🥰
we're taking over this town 🔥🤘😂

Pantera is no doubt one of the best power metal bands out of Texas. Another must listen for you is Helstar's (another Texas band) "Remnants of War" and listen to James's highs he hits!
Thanks for the recommendations💕
Thank you very much for all of the recommendations🥰🥰🥰

Thanks for the recommendation
Thanks for the recommendations
You kidz are catching up. I was listening to this back in the 90's. Pantera don't age they get better as time passes. Whilst talking about the 90's you need to look up Mike Patton the greatest range of any known singer to date.
Thanks for sharing
How about Scar Symmetry - Prism and Gate? I think that vocal changing would be mindblowing for you.
Thanks for the recommendation
Incorrect on motivation for the murder.
Oh thanks so much for sharing🥰🥰🥰much appreciated
RIP Abbott Bros🙏

I am pretty sure the audio is album audio, not live audio, so there were likely some effects on his voice during those deep parts you liked.

Probably the "hardest" music anyone might suggest to you. That being said, I'm not overly familiar with them, but know enough that I know the music is good and surprisingly think you'll enjoy it.
Thanks so much🥰
And I have to say for somebody that speaks Japanese as their first language his English is amazing
🥰🥰🥰
Try reacting to 'Revolution Is My Name' from their final album, Reinventing The Steel.
Thanks so much for sharing
I saw Pantera a bunch of times and they always sounded right off the record live. The intensity and crazy crowd was not something cooked up for a video either. This was standard behavior at any Thrash show back then. You'd leave bruised, sometimes bloody, and that blood might not be all yours either. It was all done with a sense of camaraderie and esprit de corps. Great times, probably never to be repeated.

"This Love" "Cemetery Gates" "Great Southern Trendkill" if you appreciate Range.

Pantera ist legendeär!
🥰
I am born in 79 and I must say that all the young millenials missed that epic era when the music was actualy good. No tik tok no crappy rap and no Taylor Shit. Im talking real gold music...

There's always something fun about seeing such nice, normal looking girls making the stank face to metal 😅
🥰🥰🥰

I transcribe that part for you:
What does gugak mean to you?
Hello, thank you very much for sharing, for all the recommendation too. I truly appreciate it. Wishing you happy holidays too🥰🥰🥰
You're a beautiful opera singer but there's still a metal head in you wanting out!! You know how some singers change song from metal to country or something like that. If you can turn a Pantera song into opera i guarantee that video will blow up on here!!
Oh thank you very much🥰
