When I saw them play this live in the 90s I was in the front row. Vinnie Paul's kick drum was hitting me so heavy and loud that it was actually hard to breathe. It was the best thing ever.
I endured that front row 5 different times, and it was life changing every time. Lol.. Holding on to a front row spot isn't for the weak, thats for sure. Id give almost anything to relive one of those times.
I heard Dime in a relatively small club with DamagePlan, and his guitar was the loudest damn thing I ever heard. It’s a shame he was gone less than a week later.
Cemetery gates is on the album Cowboys from hell. That entire album was an absolute beast, but this was the end of their 80’s ish sound. Vulgar display was their evolution into 90’s groove metal. Gotta check out Message In Blood from Cowboys from hell, an amazing B side track

It blows my mind how little love "The Art of Shredding" gets, so I'd suggest that song next. It's from the same album. The song lives up to the title, so let's shred!
Cowboys From Hell is the title track to their 5th album Cowboys From Hell (1990). I remember in 1992, I was in 12th grade, my buddy put a cassette in my truck stereo and said, you gotta hear this -- and it was this song. I was hooked since. You just transported me back 30 yrs.
Pantera! They created a new metal genre, had the best single musicians/singer and worked together so perfectly! This album is metal history that can’t be compared to anything else! I had the pleasure of talking to Vinnie several times when I lived in Fort Worth. He was such a humble, cool dude. He actually came into the club where I worked with the guys from Hell Yeah when he was first putting the band together. 💙 from Texas.
This song was a great jump for Pantera going from their earlier hair-metal days into groove metal. Love the tempo, Dimes guitar work and Phil’s vocals! This whole album is 🔥. Great reaction guys!
Pantera has been around since 1983. Cowboys From Hell is the first major label release in 1990. This is the album that changed the game for metal. They blew the roof right off and saved metal from dying due to grunge.

Pantera really had some of the best mix of sound with all their different influences. Plus they where brothers so they played together for yeaaaaars which definitely contributed to the timing ⏱
"Cowboys from Hell" (1990) is Pantera's fifth studio album (if you count their independently released glam metal albums), and their debut on Atlantic Records. This album was their first commercial success. It is perceived as the official debut of the band by many fans as it has definitely left the glam metal label. This is the second album with Philip Anselmo on vocals. The song "Cowboys From Hell" and also "Cemetery Gates" were both from this album. You should also check out the song "The Sleep" from this album.
Thrash and groove metal come from the same foundation of heavy metal, especially bands like Sabbath. Pantera helped popularize it in the 90’s around the time Metallica were becoming more commercial around Black Album. Sepultura and White Zombie were others that fit the groove metal mold. In a way groove metal was like a bridge between thrash and nu metal.
I walked into a club one night in Houston, turned out Pantera was the band that night on the Cowboys from Hell tour... Phil wore a "Fuck You, We're From Texas" shirt... Dime was just fucking bad ass!
Pantera has a mixture of styles in their catalog. The earlier stuff is more thrashy but as they progressed they became more groove based. Want a great example of groove? Do “Mouth for War" or “A New level". Classics boys. Keep up the good work!

Pantera in many ways we’re also considered pioneers of this genre too, especially with “Shredding guitars” I mean Dimebag was a signature sound, and now is considered among some of the greatest of all time. Vinny Paul was an amazing drummer RIP to everyone, PANTERA was just a revolution of bad ass music and this IMO their best album with some serious heavy hits top to bottom

In my understanding Dimenag, Vinnie Paul and Rex brown are from Texas and Pantera in a Texan band but Phil Anselmo is straight from New Orleans, so it's fair that you assumed they're from Louisiana
Back in the day, this was the album that blew everybody's hair back. Dimebag's guitar was revolutionary but so was his brother's drumming. So fucking tight and groovy and aggressive and whatnot and shit.
Vinnie definitely doesn't get the credit he truly deserves, absolutely amazing drummer all the best wanted to be like... and one of the nicest dudes in metal.

Vulgar display of power kicks ass! Start to finish. Some great workout music imo.
R.I.P Dimebag Darrell......still missing you 😰😰😰😰😰😡😭😭😭😭🍻🍸🍄🍺🍺🚬🚬🌲🌲🛸👽👽🤟🤟🖖🖖🖖
Long time subscriber and daily listener to your channel. Thank you guys for the Pantera reactions. Absolutely my favorite metal guitarist. RIP Dime and Vinny. You guys have just begun the Pantera journey. So many greats. Please react to Medicine Man, Piss and Art of shred.
You all need to do Pantera's Good friends and a bottle of Pills,Floods, and 10's.
I fucking love the Acid Bath shirt!
At least 87-88 the time I know of them in the smaller clubs. Phil was super quiet and cool off stage. He would walk up to you and say how's it going etc. Glad you are seeing this piece of history. Take care.
The art of shredding!!! Do it! C.F.H. 🤘
released in 1990 I have the original pressing on cd on atco records pantera,s 5th full length album Phil,s second full length album with pantera his first album with pantera was a underground album on a underground label that was dimebag Darrell,s father,s label metal magic records power metal in 1988 actually started as a glam metal band with very first vocalist Terry glaze amazing song
I grew up listening to lots of metal, but Pantera is numero uno for me 🤘.
In my understanding Dimenag, Vinnie Paul and Rex brown are from Texas and Pantera in a Texan band but Phil Anselmo is straight from New Orleans, so it's fair that you assumed they're from Louisiana
Love the acid bath shirt
Cowboys from hell was there 5th studio album , released July 24th 1990
Back in the day, this was the album that blew everybody's hair back. Dimebag's guitar was revolutionary but so was his brother's drumming. So fucking tight and groovy and aggressive and whatnot and shit.
Vinnie definitely doesn't get the credit he truly deserves, absolutely amazing drummer all the best wanted to be like... and one of the nicest dudes in metal.
