One of the greatest swings of all time. If only he kept playing at this level. Tiger would have had his work cut out for him. Just so so pure. Mesmerising to watch. Great video. This was the Era of Golf which I truly believe will never be repeated. Men like Duval, Tiger Els etc all were grinding every day. Living and breathing their craft. That’s gone now. Money and fame are more important to most of the new generation than the purity of the craft on the course. These times will forever be remembered as the greatest.
love his swing. that solid, planted left foot and acceleration was a big part of his awesome swing. He had sensitive eyes and always had those shades on. Coolest guy on the tour! the 90s were the golden days of golf. els, ian woosnam, colin montgomery, seve, and of course, "grip it and rip it "daly! i miss those days!!!!!!

@@jacobr4558 ...but not for Duval. He's swing seems very natural and when a golf swing is natural, you can repeat that swing over and over again forever.
Amazing collection. You can really see his swing slowly breaking down over time. The clips from 98'/99' are incredible. His move was so efficient. A true ball striking machine at that time.
Yeah the club starts coming going back outside too much, almost like he's lifting some massive weight compared to those silky smooth, flatter swings from way back when.
watching DD swings and some Hatton keys, letting the head emerge with the through swing allows me to hit a 5 iron as square as 9 iron. Setting up with more weight on my heels, keeps me steady against the natural centrifugal forces of the swing. Some of the swing is intuitive, some pure imitation and always with hand eye coordination. Use all three and every swing has a chance. I have the hands of NFL Wr ( prospect letters from Chargers, Raiders and Bengals) so once I recognized the hand eye connection , became a confidence builder. Watched Mac OGrady and his school. of thought all work-needed the verbal interpretation of Gary McCord. Some the greats are artists, they cant accurately explain what / how to do.
awesome video!!! there is a good one out there of fred couples too. i always thought he was the coolest guy on tour. Great, selftaught swing. always in sunglasses. Up there against all the refined pros and beating them.He was just cool from start to finish. i really miss golf in the 90's. so many cool guys. daly, couples, vj singh, ernie els . that was the golden age of golf.
jakethemuss3 one of the greatest swings of all time. the 90s were the greatest days for golf, els, ian woosnam, duval, fred couples, i loved those days!!!! the masters in the 90s was something to never miss. Golf today is boring.
Devised an entirely new way to hit a golf ball. Remember, he had a spinal tap when he was 11, trying to save his brother. Then his BACK gives out at 28 YOA. His parents divorced and he goes out and finds a family. Golf served its purpose for him. Very surprised more people didn’t attempt this swing. It worked for David Toms but he didn’t have the forearm strength to sustain it. Look at DuVal forearms in his prime=bag full of rocks.
I see what you mean about david toms but their swings really weren't similar. Toms had a much more neutral grip and didn't need to hold the angle all the way through the swing like duval.
Very unique action. Today, Dustin swings a lot like this, face shut-to-shut. David's swing was solid, firm, yet ultra loose and relaxed at the same time. Love his rotation thru the ball. Whatever happened to this guy?
Duval was such a pure ball striker .. I thought that he was under rated cause he played during Tigers era and you can argue that Tiger was the best of all time ( Even though I think Jack is the best )
His decline in form happened straight after his girlfriend of 8 years Julie McArthur dumped him. They were going to get married and she left him for another guy and he fell apart.
That might of played a part, but another point of his decline was serious back injury from lifting heavy weights, like Tiger Woods now, they try to lift too much weight too fast and that causes serious injury.
should have been seeing this guy going head to head with tiger through 2000s. Had he maintained form I dont think tiger would have been anywhere near 14 majors. Shame.
I don't know Mr Duval, so I have no real justification for this opinion, but *from what I've read and heard* David Duval was almost too *intelligent* for his own good. Or maybe the right word is "philosophical." I've read that at some point after winning majors and shooting 59 he sort of asked himself "why am I doing this? What's the purpose of hitting a little white ball, finding it, and hitting it again?" It seems like perhaps he was searching for his purpose in life and along the way decided golf ain't it. I don't know that - just a suggestion.
I remember reading that he was underwhelmed after winning The Open Championship, like he got to the pinnacle of his profession and realized it wouldn't change David Duval, the person. Actually had a ton of respect for him in that regard.
Easy to reproduce. medium strong grip, full turn with club across chest and left shoulder, then fire hips HARD as fast as you can and throw the club with the right hand- this will put you in a mild reverse C. Hard on the body but it can work

Its like Duval swung under/over and Woods swung over to under.
I'm a huge admirer of Tiger, but David Duval was my favorite player.
Same Here!
Perfect and the so repeatable. This dude was an ASSASSIN in his prime. A prime cut so short by injury. He's one of my favorite commentators too.
One of the best swing vids on UA-cam

Rhythm and Tempo repeated
Effortlessly
Literally nobody underrates David fuckin Duval. Lol

Awesome swing. So smooth and elegant
What a swing. What a man. Fantastic video. I could & will watch over & over (with the sound turned down). Thanks for posting.
*Wow: We Still Remember David Duvals Incredible Round of 59 - Cheers! - One of The Finest Rounds Ever Played!'*
That takeaway and shoulder turn is just so memorizing.
People forget just how good this dude was. I really thought it was going to be him, Tiger and Phil battling it out for many years.
Me too. I always considered Duval Tigers true rival. Not Phil. But yeah, those were the three musketeers in the 90s-2000s
Had it not been for poor health your statement would have proven to be true

Love the music...and love the swing!
Maybe second only to Freddie in how smooth and easy his swing looked. I always loved watching him.
Duval is a great guy and my favorite golfer. Those swings are so pure to his natural form. He was a bad man

awesome video-Duval was amazing.
Ill always love this swing. Ive met and played with a lot of tour players but sadly not DD. I would love the experience.

and ian woosnam, ray floyd, paul azinger. those were the days. bubba is the only character on the tour now. the rest are robots.
yeah he lost his brother when he was young.
singh's not a cool dude
Soundtrack is pretty sweet!!! Thanks!
Duval and Couples both smooth with STRONG grip. Something they found that worked really well for them.
*Wow! We all still remember: 'David Duval, Winning The Open Championship! Cheers: What a Great Rounds and Swings!'*
Such a solid player tee to green. I felt for a long time, it was him, Tiger and Els that were the top 3 in that regard for a long time.
One of the most talented there ever was..
My all time favourite swing
This was my fav golf swing of all time, smooth as silk.
Such a smooth swing
I love this video, I love this video, I love this video. I love this video. I am a golf nut and I probably need to get a life. and I love this video!
Haha! I love this comment, I love this comment, I love this comment. I'm a golf nut too, and I'm glad there are other people as hopeless as I am! lol
Great player, great swing, shame injury ruined him when he was at his peak.
Loved his swing the most in the late 90's. He was good enough to knock off Tiger as the #1 player in the world for a short time there.
jakethemuss3 one of the greatest swings of all time. the 90s were the greatest days for golf, els, ian woosnam, duval, fred couples, i loved those days!!!! the masters in the 90s was something to never miss. Golf today is boring.
Agreed. Throw Olazabel and Rocca in there though
Yebbb.. and Tiger on his prime!
I sat about 10 feet away from him at the LA Open/Glean Campbell, as he hit a bucket of balls and talked with Fredie, they were so smooth.
Simply a beutiful swing.
Take away the injuries and I truly believe he has at least 25-30 Tour Wins, along with 5 Majors!
What did you practice with her to fix that? I’m having a similar problem to where my hips go closer to the ball on the downswing. Any tips?
My number 1 forever...

Great Video en Music
Crazy he hit 14 strokes on the 7th today at Royal
Best swing I've seen, very Hogan like.
I agree, I see a lot of Hogan in his swing.
the best
One of the great sports what if he never got injured stories
I always considered Duval as Tiger's main threat when he was at his best.
Great compilation (minus the music)
2021 Dec.,I still remember his wet eyes under his sunglasses with wonderful swings.
It would be awesome for Duval to return to form! Golfing gods you owe him! Lol!
What a swing plane
Best ever until 2019 .
He was pretty much as long as Woods was back in his prime... Sad to think if what he could have been had he not been derailed by injuries.
Very unique action. Today, Dustin swings a lot like this, face shut-to-shut. David's swing was solid, firm, yet ultra loose and relaxed at the same time. Love his rotation thru the ball. Whatever happened to this guy?
Over rotation ruined his spine.
What song is in video?
pure class...
Not a golf swing you want to teach but man is it cool!
Why?
In 1997, he was basically throwing darts
David Duval...load of talent, great underachiever....now he questions Mickelson's manhood...he has no right
He seems to have very little hip shoulder separation. Does anyone agree with me? He is throwing the clubhead from the top à la Mike Austin.
Yeah there’s some Austin in there for sure: the throw and he off the right side really fast.

Good god that music…
drum and bassssssss
David Duval and techno house, dance music. Lollll. He was a baller though before Tiger ate.
Hogan with a super strong grip. Wonder what Duval's compensation was to not hook it.

vertigo was the biggest problem

Smooth as molasses

Music ruined it.
+zakmichael i like the tune. energetic, exciting beats.

Terrible music, great golf swing
This music is so bad.. I think I have aids now.
