    This video. Duval's swing was poetic. The music was diabolic.

    Duval man, I will say this, such a gentleman and humble to the core. Will never gloat or be obnoxious. One of the greats but will treat anyone as his equal 🐐

    Thanks for compiling and putting this up. Duval was/is special. Hope he can win a few on the Champions Tour. Miss seeing this cat. Was cool to see him back in the day.

    Just the sexiest golf swing there ever was, tried to emulate it on the range, it's so unique, the arch of his body, the swing round the neck, gorgeous

    He recent swing is looking great, so long and loose. Watched him and spoke to him at the Open the day after his 91. I said keep the chin up Mr 59. He hit it great on the range that day, apart from the odd very wild shot, and that's all it takes at that level.

    • @AJF-mm8te

      I saw him warm up at the Boeing Classic last year.. I thought he was gonna shoot 64. He didn’t miss a shot, beautiful fades on everything. Then on the course he hit 3 pull hook double crosses off the tee, and shoots 77. I think there’s something mental that he’s lost from his heyday. He has the ability still, as proven by the pre-round range session.

      @@AJF-mm8te That's the same thing I saw a few years back when I followed him both days at the PNC tournament (around the 6:43 mark in the video). He hit some truly incredible shots those couple of days out of some tricky lies but also had some head-scratchingly bad drives that you knew were OB as soon as he hit them.

    I think the mechanics of this when you're great as long as you don't overswing I honestly think his back problems are because of the swings were he went out of a little too hard this way. You can't physically turn your spine like this and expected to be okay. A good example would be Annika not over swinging. Or maybe Steve Stricker both have great rotation but they never really go after it after it the way Duval did.

    • @harrybaulzack6934
      @harrybaulzack6934 Рік тому

      Nah theoretically it doesn’t matter how hard you swing for this swing because it’s actually extremely back friendly due to his hands and body being extremely in sync his back really got bad cause of activity outside of golf likely and he got wrist and neck injuries which caused him to compensate he also got vertigo so he got screwed

    • @jacobr4558
      @jacobr4558 Рік тому

      @@harrybaulzack6934 nah this swing is all about rotation of the lower spine. There is scientific fact that supports the idea that separation of the lower lumbar and the hips creates a dynamic that is not sustainable by the physical structure so if Duval was over swinging in this fashion it would 100% cause spinal injuries.
      Do you have facts to support your assessment?

      @@harrybaulzack6934 his body and arms are not in sync and if you have watched his videos about his feels it is heavily reliant on throwing the club over the plane and turning as fast/hard as possible. Where did you hear that his swing is "back friendly"? And what are you basing your comments on?

  • @CaribSurfKing1
    @CaribSurfKing1 Рік тому +1

    As soon as he aged and lost his wrist strength, it became impossible to keep that club face from staying square. Look at his early swings, you can see in real time his hips are almost open 90 degrees and the ball still hasn’t been hit. Only a young strong un injured person can hit like that. However, it was, at the time, amazing

    • @AJF-mm8te
      @AJF-mm8te  Рік тому

      You can also notice that in recent years, he plays with a closed stance and sort of hits a pull cut. Kuchar does the same thing, and they have both worked with Chris O’Connell. I wonder what the reasoning is for having the closed stance.

  • @markmark5269

    Fred Couples' and Duval's swing are pretty much the same in concept, unbelievable hip drive and clearance, that of course ruined both their backs.

    • @AJF-mm8te
      @AJF-mm8te  Рік тому

      I would have to disagree. Fred’s clubface is much more open at the top while Duval’s is very closed. Duval doesn’t do much with the hands on the Downswing, while Couples uses them to square the face
