Its smooth indeed. And not much shoulder turn but rather a lot of arm swing. Actually not what is going to be taught nowadays. However he managed this move perfectly and hits pure shot after shot.

Never broke a tee. Only took a divot when he wanted to. Very grooved swing and contact. Unachievable by any of us watching unless you are like 12 years old ans starting. But a thing to take away,,,, not so wide of foot stance, very relaxed and smooth stance and swing, 80-90% swing. Contact first. he still watches the ball on where he's going to strike it.
Everyone calls Fred Couples' swing so pure and fluid. But why do I almost never see players with the same purity and fluidity? Is this so hard to achieve?
No but because pro golf these days got so competitive and physical that dudes have to emphasize on power in order to win. You don’t win tournaments for having a smooth swing, you win them by smoking the drive 380 yds

Im 66 with arthritic issues, amazing he still has the flexibility to swing like this. Sam Snead was incredibly limber well into his sixties
Great flexibility, but Couples does struggle with his back. This was his first tournament since the Masters because of back problems.
try the carnivore diet and see if it helps with your arthritis . Did wonders for me .

Just like everything else in this country we've taken it to the extreme, so distance became king. John Daly started the shift and Tiger sealed it.
