      Btw is the cedarwood oil Virginia? (Especially if it smells like a cedar chest) or Atlas which is one that seems to be used more often for massages and smells less like a cedar shake or freshly cut cedar tree?

    True story, just last week my 8 year old granddaughter came out of my bathroom smelling to high heaven. She had sprayed herself with the room spray thinking it was perfume. We laughed so much and she was embarrassed. I’m going to have her come and we will make some lavender body spray for her. Knowing it’s natural, she can wear as much as she wants.

    Please watch citrus essential oils on the skin in the sun! Many are phototoxic. Means the sun attracted to them will make them burn on your skin! Better to spray on your clothes if you plan to go outside. Obviously it also depends on how much you put on, how often etc but this is such a great idea to make your own sprays just want to make sure people dont get burns!

    Oh what fun! I will give this a try.
    Note, from Wikipedia .....Eau de toilette (French: [o d(ə) twalɛt], meaning "grooming water")[n 1] is a lightly scented perfume.[2] It is also referred to as aromatic waters and has a high alcohol content.[3] It is usually applied directly to the skin after bathing or shaving.

    Cedarwood and frankincense, your favorite also. Benzoin resinoid ( smell like vanilla) are some of the best natural fixatives used in perfumery for centuries. I always add Cedarwood to my lavender essential oil soap to make the scent last longer, You should try Cedarwood, lavender and bergamot. I think you will like it. Thank you

    When looking up scent notes, the ones looked at had a zillion scents. How do you determine the main notes in order to get a similar scent?

    • @LittleHillHomesteadGa
      @LittleHillHomesteadGa  Місяць тому +1

      I tend to sniff the products and see what I pull out of it. Many times amber, musk, thinks like that are the base with other scents added. I tend to use vanilla as a base and build off that.

    Ali, my fav is the Japanese Cherry Blossom. They have changed the formula and I don't care for it. Not to mention I would really like the natural version. Could you help me with coming up with what oils to use PLEASE???

    • @LittleHillHomesteadGa
      @LittleHillHomesteadGa  Місяць тому

      Here’s the scent description cherry blossom, Asian pear, fresh mimosa petals, white jasmine and blushing sandalwood.
      I’m sure you could find something natural to smell like cherry and pear as well as jasmine and Sandlewood. No sure about mimosa. I’d say take a look and see what you are comfy with that has the scents of cherry and pear and use those as the main notes and the others in less amounts. I wish I had an exact answer for you.
