A couple of videos back I posted a pretty rude comment about the background music, but honestly, since then it's actually been great. Not just the background videos, but the whole series. I really like the project!
So did I. It was annoying but soooooooooo much better now. Then they do this project too. Really loving it !! Professional, concise and moving along smoothly. 5 thumbs up !!!
HEY guys I will be transporting my Porsche 996 Carrera 2000 model to build a stroker engine using ITB throttle bodies. from 3.6 liter to 4.0 or 4.1 liter. I will discuss this with Chris when we comes to it. It will be leaving Melbourne Australia and it will dock at Portland Origeon. Then I will drive it to LA and enjoy may self for a week or so, then straight to Arizona. I have spoken to Chris many times over the phone and he is a brain box with all model Porsches air-cooled water-cooled, he is amazing. I have the upmost respect for him. Greetings from DOWN UNDER
Indeed, should be on the other side... that happens when you feel the need to talk through the whole film and disturb unknowingly the mechanics. Actually the only thing that I hated throughout all episodes, but it almost made me quit. Stop all that talking when assembling. The info is great, but feed it in afterwards or use text. They need to concentrate... Hope they fixed that alignment at some point.
What I paid was just parts not labor since I shot the videos as an exchange with TK. You're looking at 15-20+K USD depending on what you want done and the components used.
+kananisA75 Hi -- The bore of the insulator matches the bore to the head, and notch in the insulator lines up with the notch in the injector block -- but no, it does not line up with the original CIS injector's angled notch. The spray cone pattern of the ID1000 injectors clears the edge cylinder head's intake port, no interference. If different injectors with a wider spray cone been used, the heads' intake ports would have had corresponding notches cut into them, too. If the heads' intakes are ported & polished to a larger bore, 36mm I.D. or larger, then you can use any injector, every spray pattern will clear.

+ACOUPER100 It's hard to give an accurate breakdown since my labor and parts were discounted but if you were doing this at full pop you're looking anywhere from 10 - 40K depending on the rebuild and parts needed.
Can't wait to see this bad boy fire up and blipping that throttle! How long is your break in period on the motor before we see some hard pulls on this thing?
I don't see how cause the turbo is rated At 640HP. What hot side are you running anyway please don't tell me A 63 AR. If so that's why roght there go 83 AR.
Curious why you guys stuck with the old CIS intake manifold vs going with a better flowing carrera manifold? Cost? fitment? just curious.. Awesome build..
@@speedacademy Hi. Did you guys do any porting to the stock manifold at all? What about the throttle body, was that stock or was it ported or changed to a larger one?
+jim dandy It's hard to give an accurate breakdown since my labor and parts were discounted but if you were doing this at full pop you're looking anywhere from 10 - 40K depending on the rebuild and parts needed.

+HarryYese Good to hear the music isn't so annoying. I've lowered it so that it's not as pronounced anymore.
So did I. It was annoying but soooooooooo much better now. Then they do this project too. Really loving it !! Professional, concise and moving along smoothly. 5 thumbs up !!!
Nice engineering work on the injector blocks.
This project is coming along ,I like the billet pieces for the EFI conversion. This is probably the fastest 12:52 video on UA-cam, it went by so fast.
+JCE10NYC Thanks! If the videos feel like they are flying by then that means we're doing a good job :)
Great video, I can't wait to see the final bill
Dammmmmn Speed Academy, back at it agin with the Turbokraft EFI!!
Chris and the guys are at Turbokraft are amazing. You just build amazing engines, my up most respect too you Chris, greetings from Australia
They certainly are!

YES! YES! MORE YES! So glad to see this back
Love this series, cant wait for the next video, and to see this beast run.
4:14 something doesn't look quite lined up.

Chris sounds like a super knowledgeable and cool, calm dude. I would trust that dude to build my house.
Or your engine right? :)
+Speed Academy of course without a doubt, then we can work on building me a house lol.
Every time I watch one of Pete's Porsche videos, all I can think is, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
So bad ass though.
+UndergroundTrev You wouldn't be wrong. This build is not a cheap one.
@@speedacademy Since you brought it up: What's the total cost of this set up?
(Don't worry. I am sitting down with and have taken all my heart meds)
What I paid was just parts not labor since I shot the videos as an exchange with TK. You're looking at 15-20+K USD depending on what you want done and the components used.
@@speedacademy could you please include a part list with cost details of this engine rebuild in your website or as a seperate video. Thanks
Awesome vids as usual :-)
I dread to think of the final cost for the build haha - but OBVIOUSLY worth it.
As some others said, the spacer at 4:14 maybe is up side down .

+Turbokraft Team Thank you for your informative reply.
the wangan midnight blackbird with pete at the wheel !
+Behind The Wheel Coming Soon!! :)
Very nice package! Thanks for an interesting show!
+Jonas Södergård Glad you like it!
That spacer looks wonky at 4:14?
Definitely upside down and didn't line up.I hope the look at the comments and see this

Thanks for the reply! You guys make me really miss my '86 911. Really nice work and craftsmanship.

such motor progress. so wow.
clean build buddy .
+22Brodrick Thank you!
Be sure to test drive both turbos on the street and track. Dynos do NOT reveal *transient* response!
if they do partial throttle tuning and focus on torque and wot tuning there shouldn't be a problem. and you can pick right from there which is best.
@8:50 watching it ooze was satisfying
Right I'm watching this pretty late at night and I picked up on the really faint music at the start. What is it? It sounds beautiful...
Instant like for this video, your getting so close i can almost hear that thing running.
+shay rubino Its going to happen really soon!
By the way: Did you remember to fill out the "TPS" reports for that throttle body? ....yeah, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and do that.
+Jeff Loker Haha, great quote! I always think of that movie when I hear TPS.
Very nice 👍! How's she holding up?
I wonder how much this all cost? Crazy awesome build, I drool at all of you guys cars!
+Scott M. It's not cheap, a build like this can run anywhere from 10-40K depending on what you're replacing.
+Speed Academy awesome thank for the reply. I would have guess starting at the 40k mark and going up. Good work ain't cheap and cheap work ain't good!
Awesome video!
May I ask what the song in the background is called?
yes gtx3076. or efi. twinscroll
How did you wind up suitably cooling the water jackets on these Garretts?
awsome products! thanks for sharing
What is the music called used on this vid?
Thumbs these guys and sub, link the vids on forums etc. These guys are producing great vids for us.
+piecartbox Glad you're enjoying it!
choo choo noises
+Kevin Duong CHOOO CHOOOOOOO!!!!
Very cool .
Best project on youtube. Any chance of a price breakdown?

Can't wait to see this bad boy fire up and blipping that throttle! How long is your break in period on the motor before we see some hard pulls on this thing?
+0ttoman It gets heat cycled twice then its off to the dyno :)
Yeah yeah baby
Does the TPS sensor provide TPS reports to the ECU?
I guess you will reinstall the mouse at some point?
I am surprised you didn't paint the shroud.
Should have just dropped the G35r turbo off the bat, bigger is always better (that's what she said)
Phenolic insulator, so Bakelite?
I just came to say hello :D
+Boosted Lifestyle Hello back :)
Good shit man
The GTX 3076r is more then enough.
+SI RICKO It actually turns out not to be but you'll see in a future video :)
I don't see how cause the turbo is rated At 640HP. What hot side are you running anyway please don't tell me A 63 AR. If so that's why roght there go 83 AR.
Its the 82 AR housing but the small size chokes it up in the top end.
Speed Academy Damn really my old as gt30r made 501hp and i have A 82 ar on A build 1.8L
Curious why you guys stuck with the old CIS intake manifold vs going with a better flowing carrera manifold? Cost? fitment? just curious.. Awesome build..
+Sam Collier Cost and fitment. There would have been a lot more custom work done and I wanted to keep it somewhat original looking.
Also the flat manifold gives you bottom end torque.
@@speedacademy Hi. Did you guys do any porting to the stock manifold at all? What about the throttle body, was that stock or was it ported or changed to a larger one?
it's about time Pete nut
it so great I love it
Great video, what will you be using the car for?
+Maximum Torque Street driving, weekend fun car.
That's going to be a real fast 930 classic to surprise many-- what is the cost of that ??
+jim dandy It's hard to give an accurate breakdown since my labor and parts were discounted but if you were doing this at full pop you're looking anywhere from 10 - 40K depending on the rebuild and parts needed.
i wonder what spec the gtx35r is?
2:25 Injector spraying at the back of the exhaust valve?
back of exhaust, directly at intake.
+colormesarge Still doesn't compute for some reason
+wolfy9005 Yes, I meant to say "intake valve."
Why not paint it all black and silver?! It looks soo clean than
+Rick Kampen The fan shroud was forgotten hence why it didn't get painted black :(
Do you mind me asking you how much? This is really interesting.
+930Scarlet Really depends on what you change out but it can cost as little as 15K all the way up to 40K+
I wish I could do this to my car. Very interesting show. Thanks. Keep it coming.
35R!!!
Mad af!
curious as to why that cover was left red. it looks out of place. everything else is silver/black, except this piece.
+AR It was an afterthought. So when I put it on I realized I should've painted it. I'll try to get around to painting it in the future.
That red cover signified it being a turbo from the factory..
how does the heater work on a air cooled engine?
+sanshou2 You see the pipes that are around the headers? The'res a fan hooked up to them that cycles air into the cabin and voila! Hot air!
i know the smaller one is a gtx3076
I hate to think how much this engine overhaul is costing. 🙀
This guy just be a millionaire what does he do for a living
