That was amazing..... I am 61 and just bought my first ATV. I will not be bouncing the hill but it will help around the house. I also help my neighbor and it will save me from taking the Jeep. Out here neighbors are not always right next door.
I really enjoyed this video please don't change anything the actual trial/error work is how others learn. Keep doing what your doing don't edit any of it out 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I picked up one of those moto 4's for 10 dollars it had almost new plastic but it had been sitting in the woods for about 15 years. I took the carb off cleaned it and it fired right up! that thing never lets me down ever best wheeler ever.
I had a blue moto 4 just like that one, shaft driven with auto clutch and reverse..the thing was bullet proof. It was Yamaha's first 4 wheeler. I also had an 83 Yamaha Tri Moto which was just a yellow 3 wheeled version of the Moto 4. My family was hard on machines in the woods of Maine and for my money next to Honda I put Yamaha ATVs right there with them
Funny thing is I watched this and a week later I bought a forgotten Moto 4 225 for $100 haha! Just got that running. I also have a Moto 4 200 that I've had since I was 13, got it running but it needs timing chain guides that I'm waiting on
I got a 86 Moto 4 200 for $150 from a friend about 4 years ago. It sat outside for years and I was originally going to part it out until I saw it had spark and it fired up. Long story short I fixed it up, put a winch on it and now it's my reliable trail quad. Even though there are 2 wheel drive, with good tires will go anywhere
I bought a brand new 225 Moto 4 in 1986. Was a great machine . I just bought a 1989 250 Moto 4 ! Still a great machine . Can't kill them .Those Chinese carbs are junk .
This was a great video. I really enjoyed it. The moto 4 is a tough cookie. I got the same 200 cc machine in pretty ragged condition 2 years ago. It did crank and run but still needed a lot of parts replacements to get it cranking easily and running fairly smooth. When I get the time, I'm going to do a complete restoration on mine, probably this spring. If any of your viewers would like to see my moto 4, I have an initial video on my channel. I could use some advice however because I currently have a problem to diagnose. One day without warning the moto 4 failed to crank so I just left it sitting up for a while. I believe it may be a fuse issue, an interlock issue, a ground out or electrical short, or a kill switch issue. I think I can find the fuses and check those but I am wondering if there is some sort of lock out switch or kill switch that might have gone bad which would prevent the machine from starting? Any advice on how to troubleshoot the wiring to be sure nothing is grounding out would be welcome. I do, fortunately, have the original owners manual which might help me. I've had basic auto mechanics training and used to do basic work on my own motorcycle but I am not an ATV mechanic. Also, if anyone knows of a good AFFORDABLE source for replacement plastics, please share it with me.
@trehan creek county Those moto 4’s are fairly basic as far as fuses. I believe there is only 1 main fuse on the wheeler under the seat. Will it start with the recoil?
@@rockspowersports Progress is slow as I am checking item by item trying to find the issue. To answer your question, the one inline fuse is good. That's not the problem. I got the machine 3/7/20, replaced a lot of basic tune up parts and did a few other minor repairs. See the first 3 videos on my channel. (Posting Video 3 tonight.) It was cranking and running fine for about a full year. While I did not use it very much, it ran well until the day it just stopped cranking. So I know the machine can crank and will run if I can find what's the current problem and fix it. But it has been sitting up for almost 2 years. It has a new coil, plug, carb, and air filter. The recoil starter DOES produce spark at the plug, There appears to be plenty of compression. It's getting air and fuel. But it won't fire up. NEVER hits a lick although the motor turns over and, as said, the plug fires. I'm thinking it is something electrical that might be shorting out, such as the kill or ignition switches that in essence is grounding it out. I also wondered if it might be something less obvious, such as the timing has gotten off the mark. I'm wondering if the timing chain may have broken although I don't hear any strange engine noises when it turns over. Any suggestions welcome.

Hey Rock, any of those honda 4x4s are good flips if bought for the right price. Everyone seems to love them the 300 has their own fan base. I agree that blue is sweet. It's nice finding them when people still think its 90s pricing. They're cool little light utility cruise around the woods machines. Kinda small if over 6ft but turn great. That one you got running I would say is $2500 (crazy). One thing I absolutely hate is how those brakes can get rusty and be a pain. I scored a 95 few years back when I did this for $750 plow and all ran great low hours.
@Motofarm max. You got that right it seems they have a pretty big fan base. The drum brakes on any of the older Honda’s are a pain.. usually the adjusters freeze up and when the shoe wears down enough to lose pedal you can’t adjust them to get the pedal back without freeing up the adjusters or buying new..
@@rockspowersports exactly. Ive revived a few but some just needed new wheel cylinders. Like I said tho guys love the honda 4x4s they sell fast. Ready to see the update video!
My four wheeler leaks gas and won't start I cleaned the carb (needle and floats) but it still leaks and won't start. Any suggestions? It's a 1999 Polaris Xplorer
I’d like to see more of these personally cause no one really shows this they just say oh it needs fixing then fix it off camera an then come back and it’s running but won’t say how or what they did
@Thomas Langton I will be doing more of these types of videos, it seems like there is an audience for this type of content as well. I will make sure I do the Grizzly 700 rebuild also, that one is going to take some time though... Thanks for your feedback!
