- We purchased a 4 wheeler for $150 that had been setting in the woods for years , over grow in weeds.Well see if I threw away money or did I get a diamond in the rough.
"You won't believe this... well, yes you will" speaker wire and pliers... I think this used to be my old wheeler! Haha
Hahaha I’m sure of it , it looks like something you boys rode the piss out of and sent it packing once you out grew it. Lol
It’s a lot like the on you’re using now lol
150$?!?!? What a deal !!! I hope your son had fun learning and help rebuilding this beaut because these are the best machines to work on as novices or just in general
Holy cow.... great transformation ... and it runs! Well done .. good having your son help you. 🤗
Marie Dunn oh yeah he’s learning to turn wrench’s now. This is his to work on and own. The difference was shocking night and day
Great video man and props for rescuing this old school ATV 👏🏻
Hi SSH Family. How cool. A "new to you" 4 wheeler. Keep the videos coming on the rebuild process. Cheers and God Bless. ~Mike and Ester~
1980s and 90s Yamaha an Honda atvs are the best ever made in my opinion
Awesome buy for 150 well things 30 years ago built to last.. not like the disposable we get today.
Have a good monday and have fun rebuilding it.🌻🌻🌻
chele michele that’s the truth , this thing after washing was in good shape. I figured the motor would be locked up or at least smoke like crazy. I will be drawing the oil to see if there more to it
The look on your son's face is worth it all. He looks so excited.
Jamie Lynn R every part coming in the mail he’s wants jump on getting it installed lol
@@SunnySlopeHomestead that's great.
These were inspiring videos. I just acquired a moto4 same model. Going to try to get it nearly as spiffy as yours.
Awesome 👍👍👍👍
I’m so looking forward to watching you fix this 4 wheeler 👍
Dandelion Fields Homestead thank you my son is too
That cleaned up amazing I've had about fifty of these machines over the years
How do you fix a fuel issue when I push throttle it misses
@@leebee87 I would Clean the carb and put a new air filter in along with a spark plug and make sure the fuel is clean
That's awesome, my uncle and I did a fourtrax with Yamaha plastics, it's still running, looking for one myself, cool video
Wow That’s Awesome, your son looked so excited 😁👍👏👏👏👏
Fun project!
Auntie Ann lol let’s hope it stays that way 😳
Great stuff! Now I might need to start looking around for 4 wheelers :)
I just bought a red Moto 4 today. I’m interested to know how it’s still running. I’m told these things are bulletproof. As long as it drags out a deer, it’ll serve its purpose for me.
It’s still running strong but I sold it last month
@@SunnySlopeHomestead how.much did you get out of it I'm 11 and thinking to buy one and flip it
@@triballking sold
It for $1200 👍
@@SunnySlopeHomestead oh ok thx
Moto4s are good to start and I personally have a 200 moto4 which needs a top end but all around it a firm quad easy to do wheelies on and the best part no suspension.
I just bought this on the side of the road in amazing shape. I was born in 81’ and I remember dreaming to have this. Dad bought my 5 year older brother the 250dx three wheeler cause it was cheap. Well I wanted that blue moto 4 and I finally got it😊
Awesome feeling isn’t it 😊😊😊
Great video! Look forward to seeing you rebuild it!💕
Cheryl Williams yes it is going to be fun for my son and I . He’s really excited to work on it
I could tell!💕
I’ve made it to video 4 so thought I’d jump back to video 1 to leave a comment. First of all i think it’s awesome your son is involved in this learning as y’all go. I bought an 86 Moto 4 last week for $400 and luckily it had been kept in a building so she looks clean and lean. Im going to get into it this weekend. Thankfully no one had made and crazy mods on it so all wiring is all intact and nice, no snorkel jazz going on. She’s ready ... I hope. Just got the new battery for her with a set of post nuts and bolts. Got the oil and filter ready to go. Going to tackle the initial breakdown this weekend .. ha wish me luck! It does need tires but thats later. Appreciate the video series man .. this is exactly what I need to run through the maintenance on mine.
Man you that’s awesome you’re lucky you scored a sweet find like that. 👍👍👍👍
@@SunnySlopeHomestead Ha that’s for sure! this jewel had the original owners manual and tool kit in it
Just bought me an 86 moto 4, its blue but exact same as yours with the dual range, it was running when I got it, paid $250 for it and just had to clean the carb and put on a new gasket, only downside is I need to piston rings but these things are tough, rode it for 5 hours this past weekend. Looking foward to watching the rest of the rebuild vids. 👍👍
They don’t make them like they used to that’s for sure hahahha. Awesome buy though sounds like you got a good deal as well 👍👍👍👍
@@SunnySlopeHomestead I saw what you did with the front wheels so I swapped mine around and it does handle a lot better
I had one just like it ,it was blue and it was in about the same shape. I brought it home and got it running in about 30 minutes but it smoked like hell and I finally got rid of it about 3 years later, but I sure rode it a lot before I did get rid of it. it will pull hell off the hinges and go about anywhere. Best I remember it had a high and low range on it. I should have kept it and just put some rings in it. But you know how hindsight works.... I think I paid about $100 for it.... It was well spent I definitely got my money's worth out of it.
I bought one just like it today nice man
Awesome project for you and your son.
Oh yes , he very excited to work on something
Heard about your channel from the Cog Squad. 4wheeler looks like fun build👍
Stephen Campbell love his channel 👍👍👍👍 welcome to Sunnyslope 😃
I have a 1988 Moto 4,225.
Had it ten years, must've hauled a hundred cords with it. On top of all the running the kids did with it!😁👍
They are beast ! To bad they don’t make like that anymore.
What an awesome find! Congratulations!!
Paulla Wells I was lucky 🍀 I was looking at a 1969 el camino I owed as a kid and seen this pile next to his brush pile.
SunnySlope Homestead - That’s what makes it an awesome find. Your boy and you are gonna build great memories working on it. 😁
Hey hey....I just bought the same bike ! Looking forward to these vids ! I'm subbed.
B4ITS2L8 for sure , I have to fix the clutch . That little bike has some power lol
Thanks for subscribing 😆
Rocking the purple hair. 😀 The chicken looks delicious!
I got mine for 35 dollars after it sat for 13 years... had it running that day. Nice find.
Marty McFly man that’s even better 😳👍👍👍👍
@@SunnySlopeHomesteadstill no honda... ;)
Nice video Man keep up the good work!
Thank you 😊
i got a 230 n the 250 ,had them 4 years ,they out last any new machine out there ,i had 1 parked for 4 years i added gas n a fresh bat. n less then 20sec. its started ,love old yamaha `s
That’s no joke , I have a ranger that is having issues and it has less than 400 hours 🤦♂️ just don’t make stuff to last now days
Great find!
Kevin Hayes tell me about it ... funny thing about the whole thing is I was looking at a project car and notice this junk 4 wheeler and bam I bought on a hope it wasn’t blown up
I love this video im doing the same thing with my daughter with the yfm 225 my father bought the same year i was born its a family airloom that were going to restore..
My neighbor is giving me one of those once I'm headed from my back surgery and hope it starts right up too!
David Weeks damn that’s a hell of a score ! Here’s to a speedy recovery 👍👍👍💪
gl on the surgery 👍
Looks like you got yourself a steal!
Great content.
Thank you 😊
Who would leave a four wheeler in the woods and y’all got a lot to do with that great video
This guy place look like sanford and son lol
Love this one!!!
Me too!
It's also pollster to on the left side of you take the cover off by the high and low shifter there's a gear there you wrap a cord around it and fall it and it has a directional Arrow on it
It’s all jacked up so ill take apart see what up I may need some pointers
Man my '86 moto 4 sat in the elements for like 5 years, got it out of where it was sitting, had it running TWO HOURS LATER!! These things are some resilient mfs. (BTW it was out on my friends old property)
My 87 lives in direct sunlight, they are absolute tanks
Nice 👍, it's started the rest is easy to do... Pretty cool for a 150...
Tiny Ducks surprising enough the parts are really cheap which helps cause I’m very cheap lol
@@SunnySlopeHomestead my wife keep saying that Cheap is my middle name...lol
Armor all will do wonders in that kind of plastic. I ha very a friend that use to clean up used cars. He would use Vaseline to bring back the luster in plastic bumpers of used cars he was cleaning up.
I’m using that on the black section I think but not sure yet
This vid made me smile
Good to hear 👍👍👍😊
That is a nice four wheeler
Thank you
My friend had a blue one and it keep up with blaster
WOW150 bucks is a steal, especially since it works. Yeah sure you got some work to do on it but that time can be for father son bonding time and that itself is a heck of allot more then 150 bucks.
Right , you can’t beat father son project time is priceless
i think your going to make a great toy for your son and daughter lol hugsssss from Ontario Canada
Yeah let’s hope it has some life in her still
I got one like that and mine is way cleaner but that one is nice mine needa be rebuilt
Great Buy!!!!!
Thanks I lucked out this time and scored a deal for once
I really want to start restoring atvs, do you suggest a certain website that I can find them because I’m having trouble finding restoration projects. Also, do you have any tips for someone just starting out I’m very new to this. Great video guys!
Craigslist and Facebook marketplace is a good start. A lot of folks can’t fix them or don’t have time so they sell them or ever give them away.
Tips , I would start out with something that’s 90’s or newer until you know where to find parts. Older stuff is though to find and stay away from China stuff ATV’s they are appealing but are nothing but a money pit. I’d suggest not using China carbs to and rebuild old if you can.
I’ve used them in the past and they never hold adjustment and are always an issues. Hope this helps 👍👍👍👍
@@SunnySlopeHomestead thanks a lot!
That's so awesome!!!
Piper Homestead thank you , my son is excited to work on this together , he’s become my little helper to becoming my big helper to just sit down old man 😆
@@SunnySlopeHomestead the circle of life! Love it! My son will be 30 in just a few weeks, I'm all how on earth can that be when I my9feel like I'm just 30. Hahahaha😂🤣😂😂 Teaching him how to work is a great gift. Good work ethic is hard to find anymore.
I know this is an old video. But for next time or if you haven’t painted the plastic yet. Use a heat gun. Just don’t hold it in one spot to long. And it will bring back the plastic like new. Then use sc1 or wax on it to keep it looking like new.
Congrats to you. Hugs.
Tina Douglas I need to get back this project now I think of it 😳 thanks
I got 2 in my shop a to motes
They can be a bicht to strat. One runs on idea why took it apart carb. The other one both val dropped
They are known vals to drop .dont forget to check oil are cleaner
The Crooker”s Rule lol
😆😆🤡
Need help have same bike cleaned the carb but still misses when I hit the throttle I adjusted the carb a few times and still no luck
Could be a bad ignition module , check spark when could them again after it’s warmed up . If so the sparkle will be weak and orange when running warm and a bad ignition mod
Ive got the same bike!! Did the same kind of restore also, but can't find plastics for it. The rear fender is shattered. Any ideas on where to find new plastics?
I had to restore the one I had cause they are hard to find. eBay is you’re best bet I think bud 👍
I had one of these in the 80s, rode the doo doo out of it!
I didn't know moss could grow on plastic lol!
Same 4 wheeler I use right now but mines green and looks just like that one
Awesome 👍👍👍
It looks just like my sons 86 yfm moto 225
That powerwash works great. What brand is it, Arctic cat? Suzuki? I can't read the name. Sweet! Well done, and your son learning valuable skills.
It’s a Yamaha moto4 1986 yes my son is going to be right by my side
Does anyone know if the 225 cylinder rebuild kit would work on my yfm 200?? Just bolt on kind of deal like normal installation?
Not sure but I’d say your jets would be to big
That atv didn't have brake lights back than my friend. Just headlights and taillights.
We found that out too lol
What became of this project
Some if u take the left plate of u should have a plull start pully
Your welcome .if u have any questions messages me i know all about motes and others brand s
I had a mint 1990 Yamaha moto 4 350 2wd, but then I ran it Into a tree going about 15 mph. Everything is good just can't find a new bumper/front rack. 😬
Ouch man
My kids was in worse shape we cleaned it real good put a eBay carb in it and he’s been riding it for months real tough little machines these Moto 4’s
thy are cheap fun projects aren't they
What wires do I put together to bypass my ignition that my kids took a screw driver to 😢😂
Oh boy I can’t recall
Does this charge while you are driving it?
I believe so
Hidden Heights Farm sent me!!!
Awesome thanks for checking us out and hope you stay for the giveaway coming up here soon
What size trailer is that?
5’ I think
There is no brake light on these, it sucks but that what yamaha decided
I’m seeing it now lol dang 🤦♂️
@@SunnySlopeHomestead LoL, i kinda figured you did at this point, hoping to start "Restoring" mine soon
Goof find. You got lucky
👍👍👍👍
It doesn't have a brake light..per say...only a rear tail light
I saw this on Craigslist
Really , I’d like to have it back. Where was it posted ?
Sweet deal
It was and lucky I came across it 👍👍👍
@@SunnySlopeHomestead how did you find such a deal what website did you use
How many cc is that?
200cc if I remember 👍
@@SunnySlopeHomestead damn that’s insane
what model is this moto 4?
A 250 cc I think
@@SunnySlopeHomestead right on thank you sir
Yo I wish I could find something this cheap
Just keep your eyes peeled and ask around. Guy at work knew of this one his friend had in the weeds
It ain't fun if it ain't dangerous
Is it 4x4?
Nope this is not 4x4 😔 be cooler if it was
A rebuild kit is cheaper than buying a new carburetor rebuild kit is 15 to 16 and new carbs $36
I kept the old carb to rebuild
I just got me some carb cleaner and some gasket paper and mine is like new again, but on Amazon the rebuild kit is around 30 and a new carb was 27
i thought it was a honda fourtrax at first it looked like it a lil bit
Right lol I always thought Yamahas were yellow and Honda’s were red lol
Hi new to you channel
Awesome 😎 thanks for coming over
These Moro fours will go forever
100% truth 🙌🙌
They don't build them like this no more
I’m about to get another one
@@SunnySlopeHomestead yeah I got a Moto 4 350 I had a bunch of them over the years
It's a YAMAHA that's why it's a tanks lol
Amen to that because this thing was beat
@@SunnySlopeHomestead I have a 87 and mine will go anywhere a 4x4 will
Your local Yamaha shop will have that thing running in no time.
Wayne Leamon no way Wayne I do all my own work in house 😁
Do yourself a favor and use the original carburetor.
Meth got to it
