Close but not technically correct. George Moreland sat in the drummers chair in the 70s - all the way thru 1974. Ernie played on the title track of 1974's 'Live lt Up' but George played the rest of the album. From 1975's 'The Heat Is On' with one or two exceptions in the early 80s, it was Ernie all the way.
Isley Brothers stays on my listening Rotation...along with G n R, Rick James, Stevie Wonder, Van Halen, Prince. Sadly this Musicianship is forever gone from R & B music.
Besides Singing - He is Guitar Virtuoso - That Unmistakable ISLEY BROTHER SOUND - I LOVE THEM ALL !!! Phenomenal Player Up there with All The Great Guitar Players Past And Present- he SURLY picked up some Tips From JIMI Hendrix👍🏻👍🏻🙃
There will never be another band like the Isley Brothers Cannot get this song out of my head. What a great guitar performance by Ernie. They were fantastic performers and guitar players such a great sound. Then Ronald took over and "Mr. Biggs" stepped in. Ronald has some health issues now but Sunday in San Francisco he did a pretty good job despite his weakness etc.
DAMN!!!!!! Think Jimi rubbed off on a young Ernie during his time with the Isleys?I've had this song suck in my head for a day. Ernie is just a Bad Ass. This song, especially that tone, that fuzz and fazer tone is the reason I picked up a guitar in 1973. Thanks for posting this Gem. All I can say is D A M N!!!
Dude, who do you think taught him how to play guitar? In case you missed that part Jimi Hendrix was once the guitarist for the Isley Brothers. Ernie idolized Hendrix which is why you see so much of his playing artistry to be the same as Hendrix.
@@OGK_Show Hendrix did not TEACH Ernie to play guitar. He Inspired him. Ernie was a young child when Hendrix used to live with and play for the Isley Brothers. So said Ernie himself
@@OGK_Show : we partly...jimi did play with the isley's and lived at his ( the isley's ) home, earniey was about 11yrs old at the time. I have no doubt jimi showed his things, but earnie was more so influenced by his sound, style, etc, than actually being taught by him. The public sort of created that legend. You can read more about this from earnie 's words in a book called " the stratocaster chronicles"
"Ernie (Isley) was born in Cincinnati (March 7, 1952), where his older brothers formed The Isley Brothers, first as a gospel group, then as a secular singing group. In 1960, his family moved to Englewood/Teaneck, New Jersey. He attended Dwight Morrow High School.[3] During this period, Jimi Hendrix (known then as Jimmy Hendrix) joined the group and lived with the Isley family from Spring of 1963 through Thanksgiving of 1965.[4] Young Ernie was fascinated watching Hendrix practice and play. It was a great influence on his guitar playing. [5] - Wikipedia ua-cam.com/video/OQrqa8eBWFE/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Amazing talent.Thats a rare white Fender Stratocaster. Ernie played Strat, banged drums, sang. He played like Jimi, making love to his white Strat. The neck used rare and best wood. A virtuoso's guitar. That's one reason for the strong sound.
Ernie Isley solos like ... a Hendrix with mature focus and staying power.
SO UNDERRATED AS A GUITAR PLAYER, ONE OF THE GREATEST EVER
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Criminally underrated! He’s better than anyone on the Classic Rock stations, if you catch my drift.
Absolutely!
You better believe it
@@TonyUnyunhe's not underrated in the Black community

I know right who would give this a thumbs down ? 👎 they was trippin
Little broadcasted fact. Ernie Was, also, the studio drummer for this and all of the band's seventies hits.
Really?!

Ernie Was?? Is he the brother of Don Was??? (I'm pointing out your capitalisation fail.)
If I'm not mistaken, earnie played bass on " it's your thing", and the late great Charlie Pitts was on guitar.
Thanks a lot for enlightening me, sir.
