They’ve impacted many and have managed to stay relevant when many of their peers couldn’t keep up with the ever changing tastes of musical trends. I salute TIB
Now, I know how great James Brown was. Then, not so much. I always knew that Al Green was unique. How could you not. But my favorite, besides the guy from The Stylistics, was Ronald Isley. It was cause of "Who's That Lady." Was there ever a voice that went with a guitar so well? I'd hear Ronald sing, or Michael Jackson sing " Got To Be There, " then Stevie Wonder's "If You Really Love Me" then Curtis Mayfield "Freddie's Dead/Superfly," top it off with Sly's" Family Affair" ...70's soul/r&b went way, way beyond Soul Train and any other connotation. I bet Seals and Croft were dam n proud to hear the Isley Brothers do "Summer Breeze."
Ernie's tone and style are so beautiful and unique. It is so easy to identify him. And the Brothers with their incredible vocals. One of the best covers of any song.
Yeah, it is a cover (written by Seals and Croft). It's just... the Isley Brothers bring something to their interpretation that's just not able to be described.
