After YEARS of waiting, it’s finally coming out! Huge fan of junji ito, uzumaki is a truly insane story, I’m glad everyone will now see the utterly twisted world of this manga.

Since they took a longer amount of time and man-power making Uzumaki, hopefully it'll be better (the extra time would have been needed to get all the details that couldn't be afforded for Junji Ito's Collection). I do worry if the extra detail still isn't enough or there's some fans that'll still say it's not like the manga exactly - extreme hatching/crosshatching details from comic/manga mediums don't always translate well into anime where characters get designed more simply to make the process more streamlined.

It’s gonna be on cable and streaming. Pretty sure it’ll get a physical release but they may not make that many copies cuz after streaming really blew up I noticed there’s less physical DVDS or Blue Rays now

As much as i hate the amount of fake outs we got with this series, I’m so happy you guys took the time to iron it out rather than just releasing it as is. Development hell is (majorly) better than a rushed item.

I’m totally hyped, this is definitely going to be the best anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s work so far. Such incredible soundtrack and atmosphere in just this trailer alone, as well as promising us a lot of different Uzumaki stories such as obviously the first two-part chapter as well as the scar, the snail, the black lighthouse, twisted souls. Definitely seems to be only focusing on the first two volumes, but I’d be so glad to see them adapt the final parts of the story and maybe even include that one lost chapter as a little side episode (even if it doesn’t fit into the canon very well)
Uzumaki by Junji Ito is phenomenal. Body horror isn't as widely recognized as other genres of horror entertainment.

I think Ito Junji made a ritual bringing two different realities together. There is no way people in the comments saying this looks like the books, I feel like I'm in a comedy skit. That would be equivalent...... Only to classic painting enthusiasts thinking Carioca Funk is fitting describe their feelings.

Me too already. I stumbled on video here in YT where a man attracted to whirlpool as swimming, should have got out but kept recording and had to die drowning. Real tragedy, RIP, but "spiral curse" popped out in my head. The very psychological awe was similar. Fascinated by the phenomenon. The psychological detail in Ito's story is the actual horror part for me. And yeah geometry as well not seen the same way again since.
So according to Junji ito there Is a character who dies early on and now plays a pivotal part. I guess that Is suichi's mother as her fear to spiralls could help to alert suichi and kirie about the presence of the spirall curse
Correct, the only one repelled, the rest attracted to the curse. I forgot how impactful it was till the very end, thought it was just Suichi all along. Thanks for sharing!
Finally! Justice for Junji Ito's work
I like that horror here doesnt depend on jumpscares but rather weirdness.I always say horror is the lenses on which we explore different perspectives, it lets us see through veils we could never see on our own.
This story was the one that sent me down the junji ito rabbit hole, glad to see this animation is doing the manga justice...but a large part of me wants it to follow the previous ito adaptations and straddle that line between tense horror and abstract comedy that arises almost entirely due to the English dub and the background music that's used alongside it.

We're all talking about the animation over the soundtrack because everytime a adaptation of junji itos work has been made, it's always had dog water colour animations

People right receive the other ones all that well, so using the feedback from those before attempting this one was a genius idea. Uzumaki is easily Ito's most ambitious story, it deserves to be done right
WELL WORTH THE WAIT. I was so afraid this would be yet another subpar adaptation but the delay proves it was needed
I got the manga at a Toys-R-Us (those kids just can’t get enough of that zany body horror!) a while ago and reading it was a joy.
This adaptation seems really faithful to the original and it really feels like it’s pretty much the manga brought to life via animation.
This really is the ideal way to adapt Junji ito to the screen

Awesome that it’s finally coming out, personally never thought Junji ito was scary but my god are his stories interesting and entertaining.
Some of his concepts are genuinely disturbing. Its very interesting seeing horror takes from someone who seems all-around untroubled by the horrors of the world.
There's a difference between fear, horror and terror. You should learn that difference before you try to comment saying a work of terror isn't scary, because you look uneducated.
