No idea it was a vampire movie. Watched it with my 70 year old grandparents. I'll never forget everyone's reactions when it hit the fan at the Titty Twister. Priceless!

Both this movie and The Frighteners were originally going to be Tales From The Crypt movies before becoming their own thing, and almost ironically Bordello Of Blood came out in the exact same year and it's very similar to Dusk in a lot of ways. The vampire designs were also inspired by the ones in the Tales From The Crypt episode 'Comes The Dawn'.

Had a similar experience with Mike being surprised by the halfway twist with The World’s End, where a friend of mine saw no ads and knew nothing about the twist until the bathroom scene happened. He had to pause the movie to process everything.
the same thing with The World's End happened to me, i thought it was just gonna be a movie about 5 guys in a pub, and then the bathroom scene came up and I was like "holy shit"
I love Mike but he sorta looks like he's the one on the outside listening his best friend James chat it up with two of James' good buds that he hasn't met before so he looks out of place.
I love Rental Reviews. The atmosphere is so nostalgic and cozy and the conversations are very well put together and feels very casual. Please keep doing these segments!

I own this movie on DVD... and wait... what is this "Includes Full length feature Full-Tilt Boogie"... turns out I have two things to go watch and it was sitting right behind me for a decade. Good look back on a classic guys!
a neighbor of mine recommended this movie to me, he said that it was an underrated Quentin Tarantino film. And since I was familiar with more popular ones I thought I'd give it a shot. The vampire thing completely through me and several other people off and he was just laughing his butt off at our reactions. He was even telling us to carefully focus on the movie because they were details that would become important much later on.
I saw this movie because a friend recommended it in the early 2000's. He said it stars Salma Hayek as a stripper. Never told me it was a cameo and vampire movie.
Good show. The Hangman's Daughter (another sequel) is actually a really good story. it's the origin story of Salma Hayek's character and it takes place at the end of the 18th century. Also, one of the main characters is a fictionalized version of Ambrose Bierce (author of the Devil's Dictionary and one of my favorite authors of all time), so there's that.
I remember absolutely hating this movie when it came out. To me at the time it seemed like the Vampire stuff just broke a perfectly good Tarantino movie... but as time rolled on I have done a 180 and I totally love this movie.

Have you watched "Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight"? It's a pretty decent movie, even scary if you watched this as a teengager. William Sadler and Billy Zane, perfecto.
I actually prefer FDTD 3: HANGMAN'S DAUGHTER the most out of the whole series (just a GREAT Prequel, and Michael Parks' pretty much the lead character).
There was a Harley Rock bar I use to go to here in Greece where the bartender based his style and look on Danny Trejo from this movie and they constantly played a lot of the songs from this as well. Including the famous Cheech Marin Pussy speech. So that is when I decided to finally watch this film and buy the soundtrack. Great times in my younger years with good tune, good brew and good buddies.
My dad surprised me with this movie when I was a teenager. He didn't tell me what the movie was about, didn't let me see the box, he just put in the VHS and hit play and told me to watch. He wanted to surprise me with the sudden vampire reveal and it was an amazing memorable moment from my childhood.
I went to the movies with my pal, we were teenagers then. Befere we left, his mom was asking if there is any violence or sex in this film - so I've assured her multiple times "Noooo, no way, no such scenes ma'am." - oh boy, I was soooo wrong about it :D
I'm so happy to see this video. I love this movie so much, as well as this whole kind of movie and I keep trying to show them to my friends but I can't get any of them to share my enthusiasm towards them. And you gave me that, with the addition of the small stories and giggles. Thank you :)
It is great, but it's shame it had so small budget. Moment werewolf showed up destroyed movie for my. Still watch it, but can't get over how cheap they looked. Firt half of the movie was masterpiece though.

I watched this movie soon after release, so memory may fade a little bit, but even when I google it now they still remind my monsters from old movies, where you clearly see the guy in the costume and I can't help it. The sequels are prequels I think. The 3rd is definitely a prequel because it's set in the 1800s. Also, the series got cancelled after season 3. Pretty shit that they done that. It was building up to a point were you seen a new layer to hell every season.
I remember seeing this as a little kid. It freaked me out. I had a lot of nightmares because of this movie. The ending where the vampires starting killing everyone and where main characters stared turning was so freaky.
I just saw Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood. The reaction to the Ending was just like Mike to the Vampires. I dropped my jaw and said “What just happened to this movie?” and I burst out laughing.

I love this movie! My mom got me to watch it. She knew I was a really big horror fan and she told me to see this one but didn't give me any details on what it was about so I went in blind. I absolutely had no idea it was a vampire movie. I just thought it was some gory criminal film and then when all the vampire stuff started I was shocked and excited. It ended up being one of my all-time favorite films.
