As someone who makes their rounds on reaction channels (especially the ones that react to metal), I cannot tell you how refreshing your videos are! The only other vocal coach reactor I trust aside from you is Mary Z of Voicehacks-and she’s in a metal band. So...what I mean is that it’s lovely to see you becoming more comfortable doing more metal-style vocals. Your channel is going to be huge. With that being said, my top reaction recommendations are Leprous, Spiritbox, and Unleash the Archers. Einar, Courtney, and Brittney, respectively, are among some of the best vocalists in metal (aside from Tatiana of Jinjer and Devy). Much love to you. 🖤🤘🏻
I must have seen every single damn reaction to this video of Devin Townsend all over UA-cam during this quarantine ... and yours is the first where I find detailed and convincing explanations about his singing style. And definitely the only one in which the person commenting on the video demonstrates real vocal capabilities. All my respect.

Hi there! I don't really comment on videos but I wanted to take a moment and thank you for your videos. In a world that often seems to be getting more and more unabashedly unpleasant, your quirk and joy for what you're doing is a sure fire way to help put all that stuff aside for a few minutes whenever you release a new video. Keep up the good work and you're an A+ human being. :)
Great vid. I’ve seen a couple but now you’ve done Devy I’ve hit subscribe. He’s my all time favourite artist and you’re now dangerously close to going down the rabbit hole that is his back catalogue. I’d love you to check out something from his latest album Empath. Maybe “Why?” from his quarantine concert? Bit of a change of pace from this track for sure!
He is one of the most genuine, generous humans in the business. Even back in his days with Strapping Young Lad, he was always incredibly decent & kind.
you know how "they" say never meet your heroes? Well Devy is one that will not disappoint. Caught him after an acoustic show when he was loading the bus and he took about 20 minutes to chat with me and my girlfriend, signed his book, and even drew a picture in it. I guess it's the Canadian in him but he's mad chill.
In some languages (Hawai'ian, for example), a glottal stop is phonemic-another consonant, represented (in Hawai'ian) by an apostrophe (e.g., in "Hawai'i," and "Kamakawiwo'ole," the family name of "Brother Iz," singer of "Somewhere over the rainbow/Wonderful world"). Nice analysis; thank you.

I want to sing but can't, and you offer so much insight in a positive and humorous way. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent with us!
Yup. And we're not talking about the infamous guitar solo, here, but the rythm during the song which is nothing like the rythm he's singing. (Not sure I use the correct term here, since I'm from Sweden. Also: not a guitar player, but from my viewpoint the rythm he uses while singing are quite complicated. The solo is not, which is the joke/wise-assing from him to us.)
@@Hummingbirder1 the statement that it is the greatest guitar solo in the history of the show is actually true since he was the first guest lol. But you already knew that. :)
What's amazing about him is that he has no form of training. He hates watching reactions to his music because he has no idea technically whats going on with his voice. It's pure natural talent. P.S. that vocal fry you did was very immpessive. Most people with years of training still can't do that.
He did go to three training sessions when he joined Steve Vai but the only thing he wanted to know was how to scream without causing damage to his voice. After those three training sessions he never went back.
I have watched many reviews by vocal coaches of this Devin Townsend video and I found yours the most interesting. It was filled with a lot of information about how Devin is producing his vocal sound and you actually duplicated them while explaining it. You were also entertaining and had great video editing. This is the first video of yours that I have seen. I immediately subscribed and look forward to watching your other videos. I hope there are many more. Cheers!
The only thing on his lead vocal is reverb and compression. Anything else you hear is from his background vocals that are on the track he's playing with. He uses his voice as an instrument to create layers in the background blended with synth.
I became an instant Devin Townsend fan when I first heard "Love?" when he was still doing Strapping Young Lad. He has an entire world of stuff you can peruse, it's fascinating!
I’ve only just discovered you, and I am friggin impressed. I’m a metal vocalist with some opera training and a couple decades of research and practice in the finer screaming techniques and I have NEVER heard someone describe the process so fluently and accurately on UA-cam and I have watched A LOT of vocal coach reaction videos. The way you then demonstrate the process is a singing(pardon the pun) testimony to your mastery of the craft. I'm going to go for a walk.... try to calm down....
3:10 this sneeze is pure art and i'm marking it for my self in here 😂 much love respect 😍
There's no reason those sneezes should've been so funny to me, but here we are
You're curently my favourite vocal coach reactor, I love your reactions and your breakdowns. I maintain that you give the most comprehensive instruction on what they're all doing, let alone with demonstrations. Another amazing video!!
I think you'd really enjoy listening to Heilung.
Oh! So happy you saw Mr. Townsend. Like your mix of reaction and analysis. Would love to see you do another Diana Ankudinova video. Maybe Rechenka? Sending love from South Africa.
This is my first time watching you. You have an *immediate* point of difference from most vocal coach reaction videos, in that you don't just talk about what the singer is doing, you demonstrate it yourself. This was so good! Subscribed. :)
Those glottal onset movements 😂😂 how does one present them nicely ahaha, you did a great job!! Great reaction again 😁 and that sneeze haha 😂
Owh my lord i know darling hahaha! The lil pharyngeal butt hole hehe. Lots of love to you, thank you xo
Watching and listening Devin live in a concert hall is a life gift.
You gotta do Opeth now "Ghost of Perdition" from the roundhouse tapes would be nice.
Hands-down the best technical analysis of Devy I've seen! Plus you're fun and super talented! I can tell you've really taken the time to understand what he's doing, otherwise, you wouldn't be able to replicate it so precisely. Devy fans love Devy unequivocally, but we also love to watch people and vocal coaches see him for the first time. I believe you're one of the few that have the chops to keep up with him and give his fans insight into his uncanny talent. Subbed!
Have you heard the Sound of Silence by The Disturbed? I’d like the hear, and see, your unique take on the vocals.
oooooh! I must check it out xo
@@TheFairyVoiceMother If you do, check out the live performance from Conan, rather than the music video.
@@TheFairyVoiceMother ooh, my son is gonna be pissed that you answered me.haha....we only discovered you yesterday, and he already said you are going to teach him how to sing
@@TheFairyVoiceMother Ahhh someone already suggested it! :D I said the same as well. Lovely song!
Here is a remainder that the all-mighty lovely Fairy Voice Mother hasnt yet reacted to more Devin. We, your loyal subjects, NEED more Devin on this channel!
Yay! Finally a new video from you :) And a great one as always!
You're brilliant ! 💕
"I'd play with him, with supervision." Made me laugh so hard It caused a coughing fit. Thank you love, great vid
Devin is awesome! Many thanks for explanations. :)
This is so great, always learn something from your vids. Would love to see your thought on something like LEPROUS - Slave (Live At Rockefeller Music Hall) or maybe TesseracT - Hexes feat. Martin Grech - Live in the Studio both phenomenal vocal performances
Oh hell yes, she has to hear Einar! Dan too! Both great suggestions.
LEPROUS - Castaway angels is in my opinion a better display of Einars and bands mastery and artistry.
Best reaction I've seen - love how you actually demonstrate things
Vocal coach joins UA-cam
Gets bombarded with Devin Townsend, Jinjer and Nightwish requests
Down the rabbit hole we go.
Hi there!
I don't really comment on videos but I wanted to take a moment and thank you for your videos. They're not only informative but there's a positivity and you seem to have such an honest love for what you're doing that's infectious.
Bit of a change of pace from this track for sure!
aw yaaaaay welcome!! I'm so happy. Thanks for the suggestion, sounds like a plan xo
You are hands down the best reaction video I have seen to Devin Townsend yet. Well done, you super awesome human you....
This is fascinating! Thank you 💜🤗
I love finding vocal coach reacts channels that I didn't know about, BRB watching all of your videos!
I'm so in. Love this song.
Hi everyone who's also binge watching vocal coaches reacting to Devin Townsend 👋I'll see you in a few months when you inevitably binge these videos again.
Me again; two months later as promised. This is my favorite reaction vid, as Our Fairy Voice Mother is by far the most knowledgeable and can actually recreate Devin's many techniques. See you in a couple more months!
Would love love LOVE to see you do a reaction to "Awakening" by Unleash The Archers!
There are people who can play a song on an instrument after hearing it. You do that with your voice, that's mind blowing.
Hey GORGEOUS Fairy 🧚♀️
ok, it may not be most wanted BUT
AMORPHIS 'Towards and Against' live,
is a must hear! and as i said earlier:
ANY GIVEN DAY 'DIAMONDS' Rihanna Cover
One I love is Wardruna ft Aurora, Helvgen , live. 2 different singers, but together thier voices are heavenly. But whoever you react too, will be an amazing video to watch. I want to sing but can't, and you offer so much insight in a positive and humorous way. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent with us!
How come no one talks about how he's doing all that while blazing away on the guitar 🤣 ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!
I was so entertained i was i was i was just overwhelmed hehe
@@scyphe Good info. I didn't know that.
I heard he had vocal lessons after Accelerated Evolution... I could be wrong, though.
I've probably seen all Kingdom reactions to date - yours is the most beautiful *and* in-depth of them all.
Then you you’ll get recommendations for Why. That’s more of a Disney style movie song.
Cheers!
If you want acoustic you can hear him singing "Bring Him Home".
Wasn't that on the Christmas concert?
@@rog2224 it was, but i preffer the version with the audience from 2019
The only thing on his lead vocal is reverb and compression. Anything else you hear is from his background vocals that are on the track he's playing with. He uses his voice as an instrument to create layers in the background blended with synth.
Devy is God, pride of canada
I became an instant Devin Townsend fan when I first heard "Love?" when he was still doing Strapping Young Lad. He has an entire world of stuff you can peruse, it's fascinating!
"devinstated", LOL! If I wasn't already subscribed, that would have done it! :)
hahahaha you can always ely on me for a dad joke/ terrible pun. Loads of love to you Michelle xo
Aside from having a likable personality and camera presence, I applaud your ability to paint a picture of the inside of a vocalists throat while demonstrating proper technique. Thank you.
Devin's quarantine concert, Why
You're knowledge is great, I'm learning a lot of the physiological and mechanical components of the voice and singing from your analysis. Thank you👏👏👏
Please react to Sound of Silence by The Disturbed live on Conan - it's bomb :)
