I really enjoyed your reaction. TV shows of the 50s and early 60s didn’t have couples sharing a double bed because it was considered scandalous for viewing at home, hence the separate beds.
My grandparents had separate beds.

Wanavision is my favorite thing ever created in the mcu... so much creativity and imagination... Elizabeth and Paul are excellent... introduction of Kathryn Hahn is brilliant
That opening to episode 4 is always such a kick in the face.
Why are people telling Cristy the MCU goes downhill? Even if that wasn’t subjective, why put that in her head now? People have been saying the MCU was bad since phase 1. Phase 4 has highs and lows. But there are definite attempts and successes to break formula (wandavision, werewolf by night) which should be appreciated and crowd pleasers (Shang Chi, No Way Home)
People like to be know it all’s. I don’t get why they don’t get that even hinting at something can drastically change the experience for someone.
Honestly I felt like it just got better after end game while I love all the MCU movies I remember being super hyped for all the shows which I think I personally enjoyed more than most the movies not to mention the holiday specials both Soo amazing and fun
But then look what happened to Ant Man 3.

I remember when the show first released everyone was confused for the first episodes.
I am glad they originally dropped the first two episodes on the same night. Enough to tease the fact that there was more than meets the eye.
It was great to see that Jimmy Woo mastered the sleight of hand trick from Ant Man and the Wasp.

Voodoo Child playing at the end of Ep 4 was perfect 😙👌
Yes! I love the music queues, at the end of episode 3 we heard “Daydream Believer” while we ended with Wanda & Vision all happy with their babies. Then the same ending scene, but with “Voodoo Child” playing while Vision looks worried & confused. Absolutely 😙👌
The show with the witch twitching her nose was Bewitched! Hart's wife was played by the woman who played Kitty in a series called That 70's Show. 😊😊👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠❤❤

3rd. Brady Bunch and that's the Brady Bunch house.
Episode 1 had a nod to the Dick Van Dyke Show in the very beginning when Vision walked through the ottoman. It's reminiscent of when Van Dyke would repeatedly trip over his furniture throughout the series.
Still my favorite non Netflix MCU show. I love classic TV.
I think Hawkeye was my favorite, but WandaVison is definitely up there.

It's a hard call for me, being a Agents of SHIELD fanboy. Both shows have amazing actors
@ccricers AoS is a network show. It isn't a fair comparison. 20+ episodes per season vs a limited-run series. AoS took a whole season to find its footing.
Don't let people tell you everything is worse after Endgame. Marvel takes some big swings starting in phase 4, and while not all of them are the best I'd rather they try new things! Even the worst phase 4+ shows and movies can still be fun.
Right endgame took 10 years to lead up to. Of course nothing is going to live up to that. But i still think they're fun

Episode 1: You're thinking of Bewitched. The show ended great because the 50s-60s sitcoms all ended in a good place despite the awkwardness and miscommunication that made up the bulk of every episode of every sitcom. Also, the opening credit was Bewitched Themed for Episode 2: Their bedroom set (separate beds) was modeled after my favorite sitcom of all time (and the BEST sitcom of all time)- The Dick Van Dyke Show. TV couples didn't start sleeping in the same bed til The Brady Bunch (Episode 3) in the 1970s. 19:27 Episode 3's house set was modeled after The Brady Bunch. Mike Brady was an architect. 25:30 Cheer Up Sleepy Jean- Day Dream Believer, by Davy Jones, is an honorable ode to Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, and The Brady Bunch. Episode 4: You didn't quite catch exactly who Monica Rambeau is. And, finally, I can't believe you're not a sitcom lover. And here I thought you were the perfect woman. (Kidding). In honor of me (your fan) and the Joey and Phoebe Club- you have a lot of 'splainin' to do, Lucy!" :)
The doll that Vision practices diapering on is either the same doll or a dead ringer of the one that Cindy Brady had.

She probably could have, but at the time she was operating under sitcom logic. Many solutions to various issues which would be obvious in reality are often forgotten or unavailable for the sake of sitcom shenanigans.
I was confused, too, first time I watched, but it was still engaging in a quirky way so I watched the rest. I wasn’t disappointed!
The separate beds for episode 2 was a reference to early sitcoms where the broadcasting company wouldn't allow unmarried actors to share a bed as it was seen as taboo even if their characters were suppose to be married
I actually LOVED the first 3 episodes more than most of the others. The mystery aspect was the best part of the whole thing
The other green guy in that photo is The Swordsman, you’ll meet him when you get to the Hawkeye series.
“Bewitched” is the name of the “other witch show” where the character, Samantha Stevens, wiggled her nose to use her powers.
I just rewatched this reaction and your theory about Wanda creating this pocket universe, which you gave up explaining tutned out to be pretty spot on.
It's weird as Dick Van Dyke was early '60s and Bewitched was later '60s. The first two shows were set in the '60s. Geraldine is Lt. Trouble from Captain Marvel.
During that era of TV, no one showed couples in the same bed so they showed bedroom scenes with twin separate beds.
The first four episodes of this are some of the best Marvel productions. I love the progression. The little reveals. The settings in the familiar comforts of old sitcoms.

It is awesome that you are continuing past Endgame, or at least with WandaVision. I would love for you to keep going with Marvel. It isn’t all downhill, it stays the steady course of fun entertainment with some incredible highs and a handful of extreme lows. All of which are purely a matter of preference and personal taste. Can’t wait for more Wanda & Vision & Darcy 😉

They're sleeping in separate beds because it was quite common in those time periods to show couples in separate bed on television shows
The girl in the wedding photo you showed, by the way, is Mantis. She was an Avenger several times in the comics before she joined the Guardians of the Galaxy. The green dude is a spoiler for later in phase 4 in a weird way.
This was one of the few highlights of Covid. Exceptional series, absolutely perfect - but you have to enjoy a mystery and have a strong knowledge of old TV. I can understand why some people disliked it.
This show is insane.
Cristy, in the movie, Age of Ultron, Wanda had on a necklace with a centerpeice of a vial of red liquid, if you saw a movie called Thor the Dark World, you would know about the Aether, a red liquid substance that is also known as the Reality Stone , it was resting between two rocks, and i think Wanda's father , used his powers of Magnetism, to open that doorway in Europe to get some of that Aether before Jane Foster got it, and put it in a necklace for his daughter, and that would eXplain why her magics are Red colored and can manipulate REALITY
Couples always had separate beds in 60s tv shows.
6:50 "The other witch show" would be Bewitched, with Elizabeth Montgomery. I watched that show on reruns for years when I was young. Her name was Samantha, and her husband's name was Darren. Darren was Dick Sargent (sp?) and Dick York (recasting)
10:12-10;15 The show at this point is based on 1950/1960s era television programming. On television for reasons we shall call "censorship" or "acceptable for public broadcasting" couples had separate beds, because it was "inappropriate" to suggest a man and woman (actor and actress) would share a bed. It was, too... "taboo" for the time. and the impact of television on morality was in question. Fun fact this tradition continued into the 1970s with "The Brady Bunch" which launched in 1969, but a show that started in 1964 eventually showed the first "married couple" on television with one large bed on television.

26:30-26:50 This revelation took me for a loop upon first watching because I remembered "Lt. Trouble" as a kid. But after a few minutes it dawned on me "Captain Marvel" was set before the collapse of Blockbuster Video. In my head I was "she couldn't have aged up during the blip." but the blip was years later, so she would be in her 20s minimum.
35:20-35:45 you expressed the reason that if a show is suggested to me, or for any other reason, I give it a shot... I make a commitment of "you have 3 episodes to either hook me in, or at least entice me to give you an extension of 3 more." I've watched several series through 7+ season on the "3 episode extension" basis. If you can't give me a reason after episode 3 to watch episode 4, I'm done. But if at some point you "hook me in" you have either "the rest of the season, or another 5 episodes, whichever is more" Any show can have a rocky start.
I know what my thoughts were by episode 4, but I can't really explain them without struggling to avoid spoilers. I had ideas and concepts, some of which panned out, some didn't.
You’ll appreciate the beginning episodes later in the series
Episode 1 look & feel was based on I Love Lucy. #2 was based on Bewitched, which had a similar animated intro. #3 was 70s, largely the Brady Bunch look & feel.
Your questions will be answered. Eventually. 😏 Be warned there's a lot of false clues, as well as obscure real clues. Even the "commercials" have meaning, although you won't see it for a long time.
Just be glad you didn't follow this when it first came out. One episode per week. We were all going nuts trying to figure out the clues, and anticipate what would happen. The wait was excruciating.
And, yes, it was nice to see Jimmy Woo & Darcy again!
I know others in the comments have said similar but i want to add mine : do NOT listen to anyone else's opinion on the mcu. Go in without any expectations and you'll enjoy it more
Okay, I'm here. I've been burned out on Marvel for a while and quit watching reactions to the films. WandaVision is great, though, so here for it.
People say it's all downhill because every movie afterwards isn't equal to or better than endgame. This is phase 4 in the mcu BUT it's phase 1 in the multiverse saga
wandavision is my favourite show in the mcu, with hawkeye and ms marvel close behind
Green dude in the comic was a reanimated Swordsman, marrying Mantis in a dual wedding. Comic Mantis has a much different personality than MCU Mantis.
Phase 4 is interesting. I think phase 5 does steer where we are going with the upcoming titles and name changed to avengers 5 so we will see what goodness comes up. You should watch the old Spider-Man movies and X-men as they will be getting referenced in this new saga. After all is the multiverse saga so all Marvel is canon

Most of the Phase 4 TV stuff is decent (with this being one of the best). The slams of Phase 4 come from a few different sources. First, that the Phase 4 movies were, mostly, substandard. Second... Superhero fatigue. Third, on the TV side a big resistance from some to character-based stories instead of big spectacles. Fourth, a sharp rise in trolling and a lesson they learned that with persistence, they actually CAN break through and get reactors, media outlets, even some critics to cater to their perceived audience by taking on that same negativity. It is NOT an exaggeration to say that the inclusion of more female heroes, black and muslim heroes, etc pushed the trolling into hyperdrive.
There are a few stinkers in the TV lineup, but only one or two. I won't prejudice you against anything by saying ahead of time my pick of those one or two.
Don't listen to the haters. Phase 4 is just as strong as Phases 1 and 2. Phase 3 just hit SO HARD because of Civil War, Spider-Man, Infinity War, Endgame. So damn hard. But Phase 4 (while massively overstuffed) was so diverse and introduced so many amazing new characters. Phase 5 will start bringing everything together the same way Phase 2 did. Just gotta give it a chance.

@@ahmedsamar7648 Sad to hear you were disappointed. I think Phase 3 was so good and most people forget that it took them 11 years to get there. Phase 4 was too stuffed and had weak elements, but also had amazing elements. I think Phase 5 will start bringing things together so that Phase 6 will reach Endgame-level highs.

I remember being so bummed out when I started watching this show but it just got better and better every episode. I thought the entire thing was going to be a 1950’s sitcom or whatever they called them then.

One of those rules was that married couples had to be shown in separate beds. Maria Rambeau is the daughter of Monica Rambeau, who is Captain Marvel's best friend. You probably weren't into the early episodes as they American TV specific, that you aren't as familiar with. Great reactions to your first four episodes of WandaVision, Cristy!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏

When the Blue Noses created the Hollywood Code Of Morality married couples had to sleep in separate beds. And if they ever were on the same bed the main had to have one foot on the floor.

Hola 👋🏻. We took like a year and a half break from Marvel, thanks to Covid😩. This is a great show. Leads to the second Doctor Strange movie.

I feel like the MCU is up and down from here, the ups are WAY UP and the downs aren't too far down...expect for a couple movies.

Oh this was such a fun series, and trying to figure out what's going on.
People saying phase 4 is bad are just wrong... just because not literally everything is amazing doesn't mean it's terrible. WandaVision, Loki, Doctor Strange 2... some of the best Marvel projects. Really even most of the stuff that people says is terrible is actually good, it's just not absolutely amazing like people have grown to expect (emphasis on most, because there's definitely a couple clunkers in there).
Don't listen to dumb fanbases, it isn't down hill from here, there films that work better than others just like in phase 1 to 4 where others movies worked better than others, ppl just overblown things
It's not all downhill. I love 85% of it. There are some decisions they make that make you scratch your head but overall Its still good. I loved Wakanda Forever, Quantumania was pretty good, Loki and Wandavision are amazing. Falcon and Winter Soldier was good in my opinion. Ms Marvel was ok. Thor love and Thunder would make more sense if they Subtitled it (as told by Korg) because some decisions were a little odd and Korg is narrating it. Absolutely loved Guardians of the galaxy 3 and Spiderman No way home. Hawkeye was amazing. Werewolf by night was great. Moonknight is some people's favorite. Echo was really good at the start but didn't stick it's landing. The Marvels was good there were just two scenes it could have gone without. Deadpool 3 looks like it could be the No way home for the X-Men in the M.C.U. I'm super stoked still.
WandaVision and Loki are fantastic shows. There is a lot that is mid post Endgame, some that is terrible, and some that is great.
Just remember what happened in Endgame 😩.

The series takes place in 2023. Five years after the blip.
In the '50 & '60s, men & women in TV shows couldn't be depicted in the same bed. That's why they slept separately. (Oh! And toilets couldn't be depicted too.)
Cristy, if you ever read Xmen comics, there is a villain who owns a tv studio , i think they are the big bad behind this tv show, let me know if you want me to tell you their name, they never say their name in this tv show, but i think they are behind it

Phase 4 is LARGE. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the midpoint of Phase 4 (there are 8 MCU projects before it, & 8 MCU projects after it).
Start with Phase 4, Marvel WILL ASSUME you’ve watched previous Marvel-related/non-MCU movies & will now start ADDING HEAVY ELEMENTS of those properties into the MCU WITHOUT INTRODUCTION/EXPLANATION.
BEFORE YOU GET TO SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME, you need to watch (bare-minimum):
The previous 5 non-MCU Spider-Man” films
X-Men (at least the first film)
Daredevil (at least the first season)
Again, heavy elements of these properties will be introduced into the MCU without explanation; it would be very wise to react to those BEFORE “No Way Home.” As you get closer to that movie, the comment section will definitely start reminding you to watch those other properties.

Whhen this first aired, I kinda gave up around an episode or two. I figured, ok, purely for the mega retro fans. It was nearly a month before I gave it another shot… glad I did. I still think ep 1&2 could have been a single ep, and still been too much of the b&w era with “nothing” happening.
Why listen to critics? It's best to go into things without expectations and having people say it goes "downhill" just ruins the viewing experience

Downhill after Endgame? I'd say the MCU hit more speed bumps in phase 4. There are great shows/movies, a few stinkers, but mostly just average productions.
Whoever said "all downhill after Endgame" is tremendously wrong. Nearly every project has been either critically acclaimed or universally loved by audiences. To me there are only two subpar projects after Endgame, they're both in Phase 5, and neither of them is the one that was the target of the chauvinistic online bashing campaign.
WandaVision and the next four projects after it are top game Marvel. You're going to have a lot of fun.
