    and I thought I did a decent job for my couples but then I see your shots and I most definitely need to work harder! Tomorrow I'll be shooting on silent and maybe 6fps as I definitely see the advantages. But then hours and hours of culling.... will be worth it. Thanks Neil

    some great little nuggets here Neil !! there is a huge difference between shooting through the moment and spraying and praying !! Ive done second shooter a few times and its always the candid shot that gets the reaction and very true what you said the posed controlled shots are fantastic for now its the candid documentary that will spark the emotional side. Take care

    You are true inspiration for me. Whenever I reach to my saturation point as a photographer, you show me the way to get out of it. I hope that one day I will be able to meet you personally.

    I do still find that you have to set up certain moments to get certain shots. If you’re doing a first look or first touch, there’s a lot that goes into it. You’ve gotta clear people away. Stage the groom or dad, stage the bride, these things don’t just happen naturally. You stage them and then let them happen on their own from there.

    Very useful video for a fellow like me who does a lot of candid/street-style photography which is always challenging to do on the fly. I am always trying to improve my output, and your tips have inspired me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and tips in this video!

    My favourite video so far Neil. Great images of candid moments. Defiantly the hardest thing to capture. I'm lucky if I come away with one or two great candids from the day that make me happy...
    Silent shooting indoors on anything but a A9/A1 is to risky for me. You can't always see the banding until you get the images on a monitor ...
    Cheers....

      Thank you so much Andy, that is very kind of you! Great point about silent shooting too, you are right, I should have mentioned in the video that banding can occur on most cameras when shooting silently

    Really great photos!! Full of emotions! Well done, once again Neil! And a question I want to ask…. Do you prefer/recommend a 35mm prime lens or a 24mm?

    • @NeilRedfern
      @NeilRedfern  Рік тому +1

      Thank you so much Ilias! Very kind of you. It's close as I love the 24mm too, but personally I would go for a 35mm as first choice

    Can I just ask about banding. maybe not a problem in an A1 or A9 but certainly is on an A7iii. Now have Nikon Z6ii and haven't even tried silent shooting but remember a huge problem back when I had the A7iii. Thanks

    • @NeilRedfern
      @NeilRedfern  2 роки тому +1

      You are right Allen and I should have mentioned this in the video. I shoot with the A9 which has a stacked sensor so doesn't suffer too badly with banding but yes, that isn't the case with other cameras and they can struggle with banding. I don't know about the Nikon Z6ii I'm afraid so I would recommend testing in various lighting conditions. The fact I could shoot silently indoors was the reason I chose the A9 when I first went mirrorless

      @normandy2501 Рік тому

      Late comment, but the z6ii does have banding from my own experience. The threshold seems better than a sony, but only slightly from what I remember with my time with sony.

    Do you shoot in manual or AP? I struggle with blur when the subjects are moving. Also, do you shoot in AF S or AF C?

    • @NeilRedfern
      @NeilRedfern  6 місяців тому

      I always shooting AF-C and manual - there is no right or wrong though

  • @andresmanuelgonzalez4693

    Very useful, but I've got a question: I like to shoot silently, but sometines I can't because usually the places where I have to shoot (weddings), there is fluorescent lighting and this produces some bands across the photos. I use the Sony A7III.

    Hey Neil, may I ask how many final images you typically have at the end of editing?

      Hi Leah, of course! I deliver around 600 images per wedding
