This video was recorded at my three day wedding photography workshop 'SHINE' so firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who attended and made it such a memorable few days.
In this video I show you how you can 'create something from nothing' using off camera flash and MagMod. This is a great set-up if you want to take a creative off camera flash portrait but the venue you are shooting in doesn't offer you much. All you need for this shot is a dark, clear space.
A huge thank you to Helen Williams, Paul Flannigan and Nick Georgiou for filming, to Alex Buckland for lighting and to Darcie and Matt for modelling. Also, a big thank you to Paul for providing much of the behind the scenes video from Shine - and to Alex for his awesome FPV drone footage!
All the photographs in this video were taken on my Sony A9II camera with my Sony 35mm f1.8 and Sony 35mm f1.8 lenses.
I used the Godox AD200 and V860ii speedlights and a MagMod Pro 24" Octa.

Which do your prefer? The 35mm shots or the 85mm?
My absolute favorite lens is the 85, but the images with the 35 are gorgeous!
Thank you! I went in to this shoot expecting to like the 35mm shots the most, but I actually preferred the 85mm shots too
All images are incredible. I love the variety of the wide and tele. Brides and grooms would absolutely love both
I’d prefer my photo i could take AT YOUR SHINE WORKSHOP ! Wishing !!!!
Vancouver to Manchester ! 😊
Amazing as always ! Beautiful!
Both are great and you need different focal lengths to give variety.
Excellent! I loved it, we want to see more of the workshop, not all of us have the possibility of traveling to England. Thank you 🏅
Thank you very much Luiggi! SHINE is very much for those who attend in person but if you would like to see more of my education, please consider joining my Patreon or Flash Masters :) Thank you again
Another excellent tutorial and I'm very jealous of those who attended the SHINE workshop! 😊

What exactly do you mean by ISO 50 being a dangerous region.
We will find more of these clips on patreon? Thank you! I follow u about 2/3years ago… 😇
Thank you for the support! The content I post on Patreon is mainly live streams (I host at least 3 a month and have done for 4 years and counting now) as well as lots of extra images (I post all the images which feature in my videos for example) as well as early access to every video I post on UA-cam. There is no contract with Patreon so if you do want to try it and decide it's not for you, you can cancel straight away :)
Please offer Flash Masters branded red Crocks.
Yes! I would LOVE to make that happen 😂
Crocks???
A useful video for every cameraman who just happens to have a couple of assistants to hold his softbox/flash combis.....
I’m only counting 1 person holding a light….
@@NeilRedfern ok but who is filming?
@@graxxor that has nothing to do with the photography though? There could be 100 people filming, it wouldn’t matter?
