Today I am going to show you how to repair these master wand controls. These are designed, they have a couple three gears inside. And what happens is if the center control is not able to turn and someone continues to try to turn this, this deal will pop out and the gear portion inside will pop out. What you can do is reset that.
So let me show you here. Just set your screwdriver in and rotate it and you can see the gear piece here. Now right now when you turn the wand control it is turning the center portion but what happens with these is if it is forced this little gear pops up and out like so. Sometimes it will pop this portion out so what you can do is remove your end bracket and slide this forward so that you can see it and pop this assembly up like so giving you access to the gear here. Often times you can just push this down.
If it's broken you can change out this little gear here as long as this particular one is the one that is broken. So you can pull this out and inspect the teeth on the gear to make sure there is no breaks. Also you can peek down inside there and make sure none of your gear teeth are broken. If they're not what you can do is just reinsert this and push it down till it clicks into place. Close your lid and now you're all set. 'll work good. - Навчання та стиль

How do you remove that piece, especially with out taking the blinds down? I live at an apt, and I don't want to get charged for breaking anything more then I already have. I think mine is a metal one.
It would be SO much better if: 1) the video was in focus 2)if you zoom OUT a bit.
I was able to remove the end bracket and slide out the gear assembly. All I needed to do was push down the gear and reassemble. You saved me from spending 100.00 on another set of vertical blinds.Thanks for the information.

Worked perfectly. Saved me not just money for a part which I thought was broken, but tons of time to go to the hardware store, see if there was a specific master I had to get (or are they universal?), and avoided adding more unnecessary waste to the planet. The peg that turns and has a spiral on it--that does not snap/click into place--it's sort of held by the lower circle and the rectangular cover that snaps back into place.

KFM, thanks for your effort to show an issue and a repair option. So that i understand you correctly: the wand control as shown is that part that controls open and close of vertical blinds; so when blinds wont close or open properly or get stuck at some point; most likely this the part that needs to be looked up, repaired or replaced as shown, correct?

The blinds rotate but it won't slide open? If it is a matter of sliding perhaps one of the carriers is not positioned correctly in the track. Does it open at all and get stuck at a certain point? You might watch "The Master blind Gear" and some of my other V blind vids that show the positioning of the carriers a bit more.

This worked very well. The guy was correct. The white plastic screwy thing popped open the square case. I took it out and looked at everything and nothing was broken. It was simply dislodged. I thought this would be too complex to fix, but after watching the video, it wasn't. It's more difficult than it appears. I had to remove both ends of the valence and take something else out in order to get the white box to move past the valence so I could work on it. Also, it isn't easy to reconstruct.

I have the blinds with this control, but the upper tab (the part that hold in the vertical gear) has snapped off. I don't even know who made these blinds, as they were in the apt. when I moved in.
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for this control unit, and what the part name and number is?

@WFGFinancialEducator If it is the end of the wand itself that broke, replacement rods generally insert into the master control gear just by inserting them at the proper angle. you should put the master wand control in view of the camera so people can see what you're doing.
I managed to disassemble the entire wand control and yes, the gear had popped out. I can't get gear to pop back in. Is it supposed to be extremely difficult?
I have vertical blinds that wont slide open. They all seem to be in the track. I dont know what else is the problem, do you have any other advice?

You move a little fast, but mostly, it is terribly out of focus. Everything on my screen is sharp, but your video is fuzzy and details are very difficult to see. There is also a lot of motion and movement that makes it difficult to follow.

Although if it is a good Apt. Complex it may be better to just call it in as a work order. Should be one of the benefits of renting.
How do i take this assembly down
Let me just say that my gear kept popping out of its base, but I simply turned the piece holding it down over and replaced it on the gear assembly, which caused a tighter fit and solved my problem.

+truedownmexican It's best to get same type/brand but not always so easy or practical. There are some types that don't slide quite as well in different brand track but this can often be overcome by lubing with silicone spray. ~ Hope that helps!:0) Thanks for watching!!!

You know, if they didn't make these fuckers out of low grade Chinese plastic and instead used metal like any sane engineer might, this would not be an issue. I can't even superglue the rod onto the mechanism. Thanks for sharing this!
There's a reason it's made "cheap". This is because you want the turning mechanism to be the weak link in the chain. If it wasn't, then the force of it turning against something else that's not working correctly could result in far greater damage. As for not being able to glue the rod, I was faced with the same problem. This is because the plastic is too oily. I solved this problem by simply drilling a tiny hole through the rod/turning mechanism and inserting a small cotter pin! Saves $10.
