    You DON'T EVER force a 1911 extractor over the rim, that can break the extractor. It's designed for the case to slide up into the extractor claw. Besides being a 12B Combat Engineer I was my Company's Armorer, and graduated from the United States Army's Armorers School. The magazine could be the problem, or it could be the Gun needs broken in. I'll tell you this, LUBE the weapon. Steel Frame Hand Guns want lube. You shouldn't let the slide slam home with out a live round, or a snap cap. On an empty chamber ease to slide forward.

      You could say that about any pisto lol, because practically every pistol has a feed ramp. My Ruger, Tisas, Rock Island, and Colt 1911's all ate hollow points like candy. The problem with this gun was the extractor needing tuned. But you are the expert so I'll let you keep thinking it's the hollow point...

      @@BuckeyeBallisticsI mean it only messed up on the hollow point so, and it’s pretty well known that certain hollow points might not always feed well simply because of the feed ramp and the angle of it. I have to agree with the other guy. The resistance the hollow point caused going up the feed ramp was likely enough to keep the slide from slamming forward hard enough to go into battery. Js. It’s pretty obvious it was the hollow point causing issues.

      1911s need to be ran wet. They don't run dry like a Glock. Most idpa shooters that use a 1911 45 have oilers with full synthetic 5w30 in them. I personally use Lucas oil gun oil which works wonderfully and resists burn off.

      It's the little claw that latches onto the right side of the bullet case when it's chambered in the barrel, and yanks the case out as the gun is fired; that's how it ejects.

    Great video 👍. I am looking into these. I only have one thing to add, and I am not trying to be an internet dick. Watch wilson combat videos on pistol misuse. You shouldn't be using the slide stop to drop the slide on an empty chamber. It can damage the sear and over time mess up your trigger. I have to admit I didn't know of this for quite some time. It's really a 1911 issue, or any handgun with a hammer.

    I noticed on this particular 1911 like most EAA products it has that very basic three ball site that comes on most of their firearms. I had the same problem with it is aiming low with my Tangfolio Witness and witness P compact. What I noticed was no matter how high or low the target was placed my shots always seem to be firing low. Out of curiosity I put a laser bore sight in the Chamber to see the trajectory of what was coming out of the end of the barrel and I realized that the rear sight on both firearms( same one on this 1911) was a couple millimeters too short and because of that while looking down it the end of the gun is always aiming low. After swapping it on my full-size it has fix the problem. Not sure if this helps when maybe it's something to check into.🤷‍♂️

      You Are correct, sir. Thanks for the reminder.
      I remember in the '70s, buying a brand new Colt and turning it in to the gunsmith, unfired for: replacing sights, tightening slide rails, replacing trigger springs, lightening trigger, smoothing surfaces, dehorning, replacing grips, replace magazine spring, replace firing pinand spring as well as slide spring, and using an aftermarket barrel. After $500 or so of gunsmith work, only then could you take it to the range for break-in. Fun times ...

Also, we posted 2 more videos of *this* gun and put more ammo through it to "break it in." I could sit here and detail everything that happened, but you can head to the playlist and see for yourself.
      I believe they're good guns in general, I just think we got one that needed a little re-tweak to run hollow points reliably. When they test fire them at the factory (all guns), they generally only use fmj ammo and only shoot a few rounds which is why this kind of crap gets out the doors.

Buyer has to pay for overnight shipping both ways (not optional), almost a $ hundred dollars. The sights they replaced it with were awful looking and the replacement job marred the slide a little bit. Took almost 2 months. The shooting low aspect is very common on all of these Girsans. I'm split on it. I have heard of break in periods working, but personally it has never worked for me. Apparently 1911's tend to be picky guns... But my Ruger, Colt, and RIA all run flawless. But to be fair, they were all used guns prior to me attaining them, so they were "broken in". After 100 rounds this thing still hung up on the HP's a couple times so I'm just gonna go with it didn't like em. Might not even be the HP, might just be that serated crimp on the case...

    Your correct your not getting a 1911 that has rails without some god awful ugly aftermarket add on its incredible what they can do for the money but I was dead set on a tac ultra RIA for my first 1911 it’s just going to be a nightstand and a range gun I have polymer to carry so preferably I’d like it to have a rail and previously rock island seemed to be the best budget option with albeit machined upgraded parts over the standard 1911 like everything this girsan has making them really no brainer upgrades considering what the aftermarket cost would be. So I looked and the cheapest rock island I could find brand new is going to run all together $650-750 I was shocked when I saw these for 5 with everything you can want in that type of gun I’m just not sure about the longevity and reliability rock island is tried and true and has a pretty good reputation, but with everything I’m seeing I have to say I’m leaning towards the girsan. Who knows maybe I’ll just save up a little longer and get a Springfield TRP as my one gun 1911 collection this is unbelievable value though it’s kind of like the shadow systems equivalent to Glock but they are based in the US. I have an Rex zero 1t Ive been Uber impressed with so it’s not hard to see turkey is capable of making some incredibly reliable and quality built guns for stupid low prices girsan also has a m9 clone I’ve been itching to try out hell instead of the TRP I might end up with 2 girsans who knows too many choices 🤣🤣 I would be curious to see a vickers test though on some of these budget options on not only the frames but all the internals and parts

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  2 роки тому +1

      We featured 2 of those "m9 clones" you mention on the channel, the Girsan Regard. From what I understand, it is literally the Beretta because Girsan actually used to produce the 92/m9 *for* Beretta, and the Regards they make today with their own name on it are built on Beretta tooling. They are smooth as glass and dead reliable, one of my favorite guns, especially for the price. Highly recommended.

They appear to also have some of the lowest prices on 1911 with rails I’d be curious to know if they took that tooling from another manufacturers well. It makes sense they are able to offer such a good product for so little because they didn’t have to spend money on their own dyes and tooling and manufacturing equipment

      Like literally the barrel flipped up to such an angle that the bullet came out the *end* of the barrel and into his head, killing/severely wounding him? I have only seen this happen a few times and it is extremely rare and is due to very poor grip on a very powerful gun- I have never even heard of this happening with any caliber other than a 500 S&W. What happens is, if a novice or someone with weak hands handles a very powerful handgun and doesn't hold it tight, the initial recoil sends the barrel of the gun straight up, or even slightly backwards. Then, in micro seconds time as this happens, the trigger resets for the next round and since they lost control of the gun, their trigger finger is in limbo and catches and pulls the trigger again, sending another round out the end of the barrel. If it happens to be pointed at your face when this happens, goodbye face. I've only heard of it happening with hand cannons (seen a few close calls on youtube) like the S&W 500 magnum. I can't imagine this happening with a .45acp though as it is a lot less powerful. But anyway, to avoid this, firm grip to control the recoil is paramount. If this isn't what you're talking about, then as I said, you didn't give enough descriptors for me to understand what you're talking about...

      @@BuckeyeBallistics thank you I feel much more relieved he made it sound like the bullet flew out of the gun out of the top of the barrel like some sci-fi nonsense like the bullet blew through the top of the barrel and hit the guy but I just don’t understand how that makes sense anyway RIP the poor guy

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  3 роки тому

      If something like that happens then that is due to a squib load (defective ammunition). A squib load is when you get a low powered round that doesn't make it out of the end of the barrel, so it gets "stuck" in the barrel. Due to the low power of the squib, it will not cycle the gun. But if you fail to notice the squib load in the barrel and chamber another round behind it, when you fire it, the next bullet slams into the bullet stuck in the barrel and can cause the gun to explode. I've never heard of anyone dying from this however- most modern guns are built stronger to handle this. I actually had this happen to me on my channel, thankfully only with a .22, so I wasn't harmed at all. But bigger calibers exploding could throw some shrapnel into your hands and face. I learned that day that not every squib load makes noise, as mine was silent. So now if I get just a "click" and nothing happens, to check the barrel for a stuck bullet before firing again. So to avoid this happening, always check the barrel if you get a weak load, or one that just goes "click." If you want to see that video, it's my review video of the Taurus TX22. If you're sensitive to strong language, then you're not going to like it. If you know how to navigate youtube well, it'll be in the popular video list, or find it easily in my .22 playlist on the channel.
