  • Hi, everyone! I'm SO excited about today's video because it's something that I am super passionate about - making everything as eco-friendly, recyclable, & zero-waste as possible! Today I'll be showing you how I make eco-friendly stickers that are made from 100% recycled materials, 100% recyclable, and made with a zero-waste liner. Did you even realize most stickers are not recyclable and the the lining on the back of sticker paper is coated with silicone? In this video I share what "sticker" paper I use, go through the differences between this paper and normal sticker paper, and show you step-by-step how I make stickers with my cricut explore air 2 for my packaging.

      Thank you! I know shops who actually make sticker sheets to sell have to focus more on the quality of the stickers and may not be able to get more eco-friendly ones depending on their needs, but I just mainly use these for packaging and making orders look cuter, so I figured it's the best thing to make them eco-friendly in that case 😊. Thank you for watching 💜💜

    Hope you’re all as excited as I am about recyclable, zero-waste stickers! If you already know about the difference between traditional sticker paper and the sticker paper I use, skip to 7:36 for the step-by-step tutorial on how I create my file, design, and cut a sticker sheet with cricut. I also share the “trick” for how I’m able to fill up the page so much since I’ve gotten a lot of questions about that! Links for everything are in the description. Hope you enjoy and thank you all for your support! 💜
    EDIT: I found a website that offers full label sheets that are certified compostable (so no cut-line down the middle like ecoenclose's), but the sheets come out to 80 cents each before shipping as opposed to ecoenclose which come out to 32 cents each before shipping. Also, it seems only their "natural" color instead of "white" colored ones are compatible with inkjet printers, but thought I'd share it if you think you'd be interested! www.purelabels.com/full-sheet-labels-blank-25-sheets-25-labels/

    • @TanaMakes
      @TanaMakes  3 роки тому +1

      You're welcome! I think once you start getting into sticker sheets with more than a dozen or 16 stickers, it's probably best to design them in photoshop or illustrator. I'm pretty sure any app where you copy, paste, and adjust the positioning a bunch of times starts to lag. It happens with my laser cutting machine app too 😕. If it's a simple design like the one I showed in the video, you should be alright. 😊

      @TanaMakes  3 роки тому

      It's under their shipping labels section! As mentioned, I use the shipping label paper that's the same size as printer paper so that I can print whatever I want on it 😊. I don't use a cricut joy, so unfortunately I don't think there is an option for that yet. If you use a mat with the cricut joy, you'd probably have to cut the paper to the max width it allows after printing your design on it.

    • @TanaMakes
      @TanaMakes  3 роки тому

      What I'm showing in this video is a "hack". They don't actually sell blank sticker paper. I'm using their shipping label paper the same way you would use normal sticker paper. You can order custom stickers from them with that are recyclable and with the zero-waste liner, but it's much more expensive that just using shipping label paper and printing/cutting yourself.

    Does the ink smudge if touched with wet hands?

    • @TanaMakes
      @TanaMakes  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, these aren't waterproof. Waterproof stickers have coatings that would make them non-recyclable. These are more for branding/accenting your shipping materials.

    thanks great but online labels has Eco friendly sticker paper too

    • @TanaMakes
      @TanaMakes  3 роки тому

      You have to be careful because 100% recycled and 100% recyclable are two different things! Onlinelabels has 100% recycled meaning that the paper used to create the paper that goes on the coated backing is made with 100% recycled paper.

    • @TanaMakes
      @TanaMakes  3 роки тому

      You can say that their 100% recycled sticker paper is more eco-friendly than regular sticker paper, of course it is, but the liner is not a zero waste liner nor are the stickers and lining recyclable. As far as I know, they don't offer that, but let me know if I'm wrong and provide a link to it so I can share it!

      Directly from onlinelabels.com responding to a customer asking on their Facebook if they can recycle their liners: "Unfortunately, the answer would be no. Most, if not all, liners (backing sheets) have silicone that enables the label itself to peel away from it without leaving sticky reisude. Due to the silicone, the liners become non-recyclable."

      Sorry for being so extra and leaving yet another comment lol. But I emailed onlinelabels.com regarding their eco-friendly stickers just to make sure I'm not crazy or sharing misinformation 😅 and here is their response: "Thank you for contacting OnlineLabels.com. Due to the acrylic-based adhesive, our materials are not considered recyclable or compostable. Due to the wax coating on the liner material, the liner would not be considered recyclable either.
      I will be happy to forward your request for a recyclable material to our Product Development Team for future consideration."
