Hello friends, hope you’re having a great Lunar New Year! 🎊🧧 I’ve created a google doc where with all the links to the items i mentioned, and you guys can comment right on there if you have better alternatives! Also don’t forget the first 1000 people to use the link will get a free trial of Skillshare Premium Membership: skl.sh/katiemai02211 LOVE U
You are right when you say here in the US it is confusing all the different rules on which items are recyclable. It is also frustrating to receive packages with plastic bubble wrap and tape. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone would use eco friendly products and packaging?
Even though it costs a bit more than regular packing supplies it's worth I think. I am slowly changing all my packing materials into eco friendly and I love them all. And I didn't know Noissue comes from UK too cause I've got my all tissue papers, stamps and stickers from China with the price difference (which was about $200 difference). Now I am getting confused. Anyway you made a good video as always and it's always nice to hear your voice too. Thanks. Have a good day, Katie.^^
Such an inspiring video, I can see how much you care for have a sustainable business and at the same time recognize is nor easy go sustainable immediately when you start as an artist a business. You are so kind!
Thank you for the helpful tips! I reuse my cardboard boxes and get a bunch of free ones on BoxGiver. I think everyone should reuse their packaging so they could be more sustainable
This is so precious 💖😍 Love seeing fellow small business owners using eco friendly 🌿📦 I've got my first studio vlog up today and I'm so excited to explore all eco also! This video was so informative 👏 Thank you so much!
apologies if I missed you saying this in the video - do you use chipboard as well as the rigid mailer or is the chipboard only if you don't use a rigid mailer? Thanks so much for all of this amazing advice!
Ahh! I love this so much! Because I don't use cellophane bags for my stickers or prints, I repurpose the plastic bags that my USPS stamps come in to send off my stickers if I know they are going somewhere where there is a wetter climate (snow/rain). I wish all glassine bags were actually recyclable, too :( I had to source mine that doesn't have wax since waxed materials can't be recycled where I live.
What a great video! ⭐ Thanks for sharing all the infos and your feedback. It's always great to look back and I reflect on how we can keep on improving. I'm planning on launching my small business this year so i'm doing a lot of research to create a safe budget and focus on sustainable materials. I feel that packaging is one of the hardest parts because it's so easy to fall into temptation and purchase really pretty things but that aren't necessary 😅 I'm also considering using glassine bags even though I'm not 100% sure they're recyclable in my country (thin paper bags would be another option but not as water resistant) but they're easily reused. I also got the feeling tissue paper is very much overrated and used excessively XD Still struggling to find more eco-friendly options for some of the products you mentioned here in the EU or locally, in my country. I think ecoenclose has such advanced options that sadly aren't as readily available around here yet (as far as I could figure out). Regarding noissue, I see a lot of people using their products and they're definitely really cool. I'm still a bit unsure about their production method as they don't clarify that your order will be produced in your continent. They only mention they'll produce your order in one of their manufacturers that can offer that price so it seems unclear if you would always get something that's produced in your continent or not 🤔Waiting on their reply to clear that out! Their soy based ink pads seem great, there aren't a lot of options out there unfortunately for more eco friendly ink pads! :( Can't wait to see you try making your own stamp! It's something I've been wanting to do myself, it seems really fun and relaxing ^^
I’ve been looking for ecofriendly sticker paper everywhereee. I have the online labels sticker paper too but I found out the backing paper isn’t recyclable :( and that’s the part that gets immediately trashed. Still searching for a better alternative.
I don't know if you have tried the carving yet, but if you haven't, this is the kit I have www.amazon.com/dp/B08B83NPC5/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_7WN1KBR9YZ4FZAJ175DQ. The tools are all super sharp and really high quality, and then if you wanna do mini stamps (or super fine details) I'd also grab this little guy www.amazon.com/dp/B003PG0FSI/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_QN03CMDY95JHMQZ826TE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1, both are pretty cheap and work super well. Also if you aren't looking to do big stamps I would just buy erasers from the dollar tree, they carve super nice and they come out looking great 🤙
