Wait. Are you saying that if you happen to pull one cobra and it doesn't happen to have the item, if you pull subsequent cobra on the same day you will NEVER get it that day?? (you can get another bait by killing and skinning mobs - that takes about 20 mins of skinning to reduce the cd timer). I asked cause I pulled several cobras (and other creatures - some rare other not) over four hours.
Yes, You can technically kill the cobra as much as you want but you only have the a chance for the cobra skin your first kill of the day, so farming is pointless. Think of it as a Weekly World Boss, you can technically join groups and kill it as much as you want but you get the special loot only during the first kill. Same thing but daily

They need to add a way to respec our profession points if we make mistakes on the first go. As an established skinner, i cant just get more knowledge points real quick. Its ridiculous
I went to the pool today and someone had summoned their cobra. They were seriously under geared so I helped them kill it. I skinned the cobra and did not get an obsidian cobra skin. I then laid out my bait and it summoned but the cobra did not appear. I attracted some random 4 legged creature, so no skin today. EDIT: I've skinned that cobra everyday for the past 5 days and no obsidian cobra skin drop. I got it on my second try and that was it, so I'm wondering if they nerfed the drop rate even if you have the bait and appropriate skill points. Checked the auction house just now and the skin has gone from 70k down to 17k. Grats to all who got it while it lasted.
No problem! If you haven’t gotten Artisan Consortium rep before, you may have to level it up a bit more but once you do, those points are available to all your toons!
Same, never knew skinner had daily/weekly,quests, I just skined to lvl up, max skinner (100) but only like 50ish skill. Like I did not know the fang that I picked /or dragon orb was my daily, I just skin every thing, even in dungeona.. I been yelled at and kick for not catching up, locked out of boss fights.. but I already out geared heroic so did not care
The cooldown on the elusive creature bait drops everytime you skin a mob. It might be part of the knowledge tree to unlock, but this allows you to farm a bunch of quick kill mobs to skin, then you just lay another elusive bait. No need to wait 12hrs.
So I followed this guide, but when I went to the location in the Burning Oasis the cobra was already spawned. (Not by me) and I skinned it after murdering it and got it first go. So yeah I guess if you get lucky and its already spawned... You do have a chance.
same as you so i confirm what you say 100% ,and no clue if there is a intern timer spawn but when i killed the cobra spawned by someone else ( i got the skin btw easy game, sold it 35k in EU) i used my bait and it didnt spawn the cobra but a elusive mammoth, dont know if its normal or not
30 days later, the price is below 9K, and as far as how often you're actually going to be able to find the skin after stalking the cobra, well RNG is definitely in play, and after 7 days this week, I've skinned exactly 0 of the item. So unless you know of a way to beat the RNG, the only bonus is, it takes less than five minutes to pull and kill. Be ready for disappointment though. The silver lining is, it sells like hot cakes if you get one.
Anyone else having trouble with drops? I have seven characters between level 60 - 70 doing this skin and none of them received a cobra skin in two days. Either the drop rate decreased for low level characters or I'm just really unlucky.
Just wanted to add this is still a very viable for easy gold. I just leveled a team of 8 druids to 70 just for the purpose of doing this each day, the antlers in Emerald Dream don't list for as much but still worth doing. Very cute voice, @Penguinr2gt !
Renown access is account wide, so if you have it done on at least one toon, you should be able to do it on a fresh toon. If you don’t have any renown whatsoever and are a new player, I recommend playing thru the niffen campaign and working on renown. Renown is a huge way to get knowledge points
If people need to upgrade their weapons/armor that uses the cobra skin, there’s a chance it will go up. Season 4 normally does increase prices but it won’t be as much as a normal season since there’s no new raid. There’s a lot of ton coming out at the same time, so we will have to see how that affects the demand. If you need the gold now, I would sell it. But if you don’t, you can hold onto it and see what happens
In just 8 days the price has crashed from 79,000g down to 14,000g each, and by the time I have these things figured out it will be down to 4,000g each. Just not worth it.

Most people who have been playing DF will have reputation unlocked on at least one toon, and that is all you need (its an account wide unlock). If you are a completely new player, that is okay! but you should expect to put in a bit more work. For Artisan Consortium rep, Buy an artisan consortium contract from the AH (costs you about 50-60g) and go do world quests! Each WQ will reward you with 150 reputation, not including the extra you get from the Anniversary buff atm. Do your profession weeklies and those will reward additional rep. Should be able to hit the requirement very fast. For Niffen, that might be a bit harder to do, but still very doable by completing the campaign and doing world quests. For Artisan Mettle, here is a tip from another player (you will need niffen rep to do some of it): "start with the skinning trainer, you'll receive (additionally to the 10 points) 50 mettle. Then go to zaralek and buy the points for BOTH your professions - you'll get 100 mettle for that as well. Now go to Thomas Bright in Valdrakken and get your weekly free 50 mettle. Then buy the item for 100 mettle in valdrakken and it'll also give you 50 mettle, which should leave you with 150 for the other item... hope this helps!" If you don't have Niffen rep, here's another tip: "as far as the artisans mettle you can actually do the first few quests of the artisans consortium chain up to the point it asks you to skill the elite and THEN go do the skip in waking shores and you walk away with 6 dragon shards instead of 3. the first fewquests are quick and easy "talk to this person, fly here" type of quests and can be completed very quickly." Once again, if you are a completely new player to Dragonflight, you might not be able to knock this out in 15-20 minutes, but its worth the effort once to make a lot of gold.
@@Penguinr2gt thank you im not exactly new i have been playing for just over a month now, unfortunatly spent hours and figured it out myself, theres a weekly quest chain in valdrakken which gives you a bunch of mettel called "wheres the meetel" or something i found on wow head. and i was lucky enough to stumble upon a 4 month old reddit post saying that 7 day puff item now giving 150 rep and not 15 so yeah

I was actually making a video on this too but kind of lost steam so i never finished it XD so id like to share some information i gathered. you actually CAN skin it and get the cobraskin on a character that did not summon the mob, even characters that dont have the correct bait or mastery to summon it as long as you get a tag on the mob. the timer between rare summons is about 10min just like the rares on the forbidden reach. as far as the artisans mettle you can actually do the first few quests of the artisans consortium chain up to the point it asks you to skill the elite and THEN go do the skip in waking shores and you walk away with 6 dragon shards instead of 3. the first fewquests are quick and easy "talk to this person, fly here" type of quests and can be completed very quickly.
So, those "Notes" purchased at "Rubal" - the quartermaster to gain the knowledge points cost a total of 450 Mettle AND you have to be repped with the Artisan's - something I am not. So, this only applies to folks who are A: already repped with the artisans and B: have enough Mettle to buy those outright. I have neither. but in the end - I am glad I identified that prior to going about doing this. The cobraskins on my servo only go for around 6.8k each... and there was 400+ in the AH last time I checked. Good stuff - but a small going and unachievable to a brand-new toon with no Rep and no Mettle to spend.
There are multiple other ways to get KPs if you really want to do this, the notes are just a very easy route (since most people have rep due to it being account wide and if you don’t, the AC contract got buffed) and mettle isn’t an issue. There’s a comment by Perse that tells you exactly how to get a ton on a brand new toon. But yes, if you are someone who isn’t as established/just starting out, you will have a bigger grind than someone who’s been playing for a few weeks.
@@Penguinr2gt Psh. I have been rather unsuccessful in making gold (even using many of your methods) up until this. I have a TON of KP in skinning so my drop chance is much higher than 30% and I've been making bank off this, and now it's going to be ruined! Jokes aside, love your videos
I am not sure if you have the ability to get the drop at 60 since it’s a lvl 70 mob. Since you can just wait out the 5 minute timer and not have to kill it, it might be worth a shot
I just try. With a lvl 60, it takes me ~1h30 to up 50 knowleged points (no artisan's mettle for a fresh 60 but max rep consortium). I rush the cave and around the pool mobs are lvl 70. I summon the mob, it was the good one and it was lvl 61 (my char was also 61). Easy to kill with a tank (mine monk), but no luck today for me 😢. I will try again tomorrow but it's working with a lvl 60 !
Then you either skinned it already this day, or your skill isn't high enough, from my xp it seems you need around 110 skill, so maxed out skill (done in 15 min.), and 10 points from either equipment or points in tanning. Or you can just have someone else summon it and still loot it.
There is a rare cooldown timer that you can't really guess/know if its up. I recommend trying again at a different time. You can lessen the cooldown of the bait by skinning extra mobs, so dont feel like you need to wait a whole 12 hours for the bait! Just remember, once you do skin the Cobra, youll have to wait until the next day for a chance again.
@@Penguinr2gt I understand, but I wanted to know if it existed because I have a jewelry store, and to close the unlimited gems, I need to use the Illustrious Perception reagent, as there is very little left to close the skill.
Looks like it still counts as your one for the day if it's from someone else's Cobra however. I tried summoning two more times after getting one from someone else's summon and got an Elusive Mammoth both times instead of the Cobra.
Yes thats right. But you can get the skin with Zero knowledge If you have spoken else to Spawn It. Anyways Its dropping hard. Few days and Its down to 20k
It is not working. I did 6 times and no Magma Cobra appeared. All my baits were nex to the lava pool where you were standing and put it where you put the bait.
OMG! I wasnt even aware of this reagent! Dunno if its a once a day thing or only chance it is to summon it is with bait, cause if its' the latter, the bait CD can be shortened by skinning regular mobs.
Its only one chance for the skin per day! You can technically summon/kill it as many times as you want, but you only have a chance to get the skin during your first kill. Good luck farming!
If it’s a brand new character, go to the azure pools flight path in waking shores and skip the dragon shard quest line. This will reward you 3 dragon shards which you can turn in for 150 artisan mettle. You can also do your skinning weekly quest once you hit level 25 in Valdrakken if you’d like for a little bit more. You’ll also gain some KPs from doing these too. In Valdrakken, there is a guy with the quest “Show Your Mettle” sitting on a bench near the alchemy/scribe area. It will also reward you mettle anywhere between 30-150 depending on your status with the artisan consortium
This is the definition of "at your own risk" & the dangers of investing heavily into items to resell...Saw this video 4 weeks ago, sepc'd my skinner, went out & after 2 tries, got the Obsidian Cobra skin. Immediately turned around & sold it for 30k...saw market prices dropping & snatched up over 4.5 Million gold worth (327 @14-15k each), & thought I could double my investment...prices almost immediately bottomed out, they are sub 6k currently. Losing 4.5 million of my 5 million toptal gold has ruined the game for me & I haven't played in weeks. It will take years to recover & I will never again use "investment advice" in Warcraft & I don't have the interest after 18 years...thanks :P
Perfect scenario of “you need to know why you invest”. losses happen to all of us as beginners. When prices started falling you needed to ask yourself “why is this falling, will it go back up?” In this scenario it was not expected to rise…. The reason why it was so expensive was due to scarcity since not many people knew how to farm it and people were finally getting enough sparks to craft a 2 handed weapon (the new 2 handed weapons require this item). As time goes on, more supply is on the AH since more people know about it and less demand since less people are buying because they already have the weapons and items they need and so the price falls
@@Penguinr2gt Most invest to make profit. I made the mistake of going big & investing majority of my gold. I was joking about not taking investment advice. It was my decision & it failed.
sold at massive loss, but recouped about 2 million gold selling about a million @ 7-8k & about another million selling @ 9000-9500+...hopefully after all is said & done I will have lost ONLY a million or so. I lost hope on breaking even, but there is less supply (along with less demand) & the prices seem to rebound slightly over night.
FINALLY sold all the rest of my Obsidian Cobraskins at roughly 5-7k...took over 3 months & I raked back a majority of my investment. I still lost (I think) about 1 to 1.5 million +. Lesson to be learned, speculators BEWARE flipping is NOT for the faint of heart.
I’m not super skilled/knowledgeable in skinning so I’m not 100% if the gathering stats affect drops from bait… if it did, since it’s a rare drop, I imagine perception would be key
Do you have the correct specialization (Mastery maxed)? The viper will spawn if you do not have the correct specialization. It could also be a side affect of another cobra being spawned recently. You can try again in 10 minutes if you believe the second reason is true

You need bait crafter mastery specced to SUMMON it, but not to LOOT it. Just find someone who can summon it (and who is maybe happy to help kill it fast.)
More or less waste of time on video, isnt so hard open map and show where it is, have no idea what addon need to enter cord and fly... for returning player will be easy see on map and just fly, like all other doing

If you’ve never done goldmaking before, picking up gathering professions (mining, herb or skinning) is great to start making some gold then you can branch off into crafting

If the title simply said "Potential 50k+ in 15 minutes" or "Daily chance for 50k+", it would be clear that you're not actually going to make 50k+ in 15 minutes as your video suggests. But I realize that UA-cam videos need click-baity titles and you're certainly not the first person to do this.
If the drop was guaranteed, people would rush to this method and the price would drop extremely low and fast. Disregarding the one time setup, each day you can log into your toon and take 5 minutes to go kill the cobra. Let’s say you get 1 skin every 3 kills (3 days) that would be 1 skin every 15 minutes of active work. Very doable
so I came back today to the spot and it's not summoning the cobra anymore just other elusive creatures... (Edit) I tried again on an alt and got it to spawn. and I got a Cobraskin!!
Im not sure where I got it wrong but I did everything in your vid, I am 40/40 in the Mastery and I went to the Burning Oasis (coords). Yesterday I summoned the Elusive Cobra, and today it was a Magma Mammoth, at the same little lava pool, so the cobra is not guaranteed? I thought the mob was location specific...The cooldown was off on my trap thing, it had been enough time...I think. Thanks again for another very useful video!
The rare is on a 10 minute timer, so sometimes if someone was there right before you and summoned the cobra, you’ll get a different creature. That just means you need to skin some mobs to lower your bait cooldown and do it again. It’s not about your first summon of the day, it’s about your first skin

Can you explain what you mean by once a day? are you referring to the elusive bait CD?
Once per day = once per reset. You only have a chance to get it on your first skin per reset

You can potentially get the item only once per day, that means that if you skinned and didnt get the item today, you wont get it at all that day

you actually CAN skin it and get the cobraskin on a character that did not summon the mob, even characters that dont have the correct bait or mastery to summon it as long as you get a tag on the mob. the timer between rare summons is about 10min just like the rares on the forbidden reach. as far as the artisans mettle you can actually do the first few quests of the artisans consortium chain up to the point it asks you to skill the elite and THEN go do the skip in waking shores and you walk away with 6 dragon shards instead of 3. the first fewquests are quick and easy "talk to this person, fly here" type of quests and can be completed very quickly.

So, those "Notes" purchased at "Rubal" - the quartermaster to gain the knowledge points cost a total of 450 Mettle AND you have to be repped with the Artisan's - something I am not. So, this only applies to folks who are A: already repped with the artisans and B: have enough Mettle to buy those outright. I have neither. but in the end - I am glad I identified that prior to going about doing this. The cobraskins on my servo only go for around 6.8k each... and there was 400+ in the AH last time I checked. Good stuff - but a small going and unachievable to a brand-new toon with no Rep and no Mettle to spend.
There are multiple other ways to get KPs if you really want to do this, the notes are just a very easy route (since most people have rep due to it being account wide and if you don’t, the AC contract got buffed) and mettle isn’t an issue. There’s a comment by Perse that tells you exactly how to get a ton on a brand new toon. But yes, if you are someone who isn’t as established/just starting out, you will have a bigger grind than someone who’s been playing for a few weeks.

I am not sure if you have the ability to get the drop at 60 since it’s a lvl 70 mob. Since you can just wait out the 5 minute timer and not have to kill it, it might be worth a shot
I just try. With a lvl 60, it takes me ~1h30 to up 50 knowleged points (no artisan's mettle for a fresh 60 but max rep consortium). I rush the cave and around the pool mobs are lvl 70. I summon the mob, it was the good one and it was lvl 61 (my char was also 61). Easy to kill with a tank (mine monk), but no luck today for me 😢.
I will try again tomorrow but it's working with a lvl 60 !

Then you either skinned it already this day, or your skill isn't high enough, from my xp it seems you need around 110 skill, so maxed out skill (done in 15 min.), and 10 points from either equipment or points in tanning.
Or you can just have someone else summon it and still loot it.

There is a rare cooldown timer that you can't really guess/know if its up. I recommend trying again at a different time. You can lessen the cooldown of the bait by skinning extra mobs, so dont feel like you need to wait a whole 12 hours for the bait! Just remember, once you do skin the Cobra, youll have to wait until the next day for a chance again.

Looks like it still counts as your one for the day if it's from someone else's Cobra however. I tried summoning two more times after getting one from someone else's summon and got an Elusive Mammoth both times instead of the Cobra.

It is not working. I did 6 times and no Magma Cobra appeared. All my baits were nex to the lava pool where you were standing and put it where you put the bait.
Do you have the correct specialization layout? If so, give it 10 minutes then try again. You need mastery maxed in order to get the cobra to spawn

Droprate is not 30%. It's way lower. More like 5%.
Wowhead reports 24% while our pool of testing was about 33%. But it can seem much lower if you have bad rng due to only having 1 chance
OMG! I wasnt even aware of this reagent! Dunno if its a once a day thing or only chance it is to summon it is with bait, cause if its' the latter, the bait CD can be shortened by skinning regular mobs.
Its only one chance for the skin per day! You can technically summon/kill it as many times as you want, but you only have a chance to get the skin during your first kill. Good luck farming!

How do I get that many artisan mettle? I only have 13
If it’s a brand new character, go to the azure pools flight path in waking shores and skip the dragon shard quest line. This will reward you 3 dragon shards which you can turn in for 150 artisan mettle. You can also do your skinning weekly quest once you hit level 25 in Valdrakken if you’d like for a little bit more. You’ll also gain some KPs from doing these too. In Valdrakken, there is a guy with the quest “Show Your Mettle” sitting on a bench near the alchemy/scribe area. It will also reward you mettle anywhere between 30-150 depending on your status with the artisan consortium

This is the definition of "at your own risk" & the dangers of investing heavily into items to resell...Saw this video 4 weeks ago, sepc'd my skinner, went out & after 2 tries, got the Obsidian Cobra skin. Immediately turned around & sold it for 30k...saw market prices dropping & snatched up over 4.5 Million gold worth (327 @14-15k each), & thought I could double my investment...prices almost immediately bottomed out, they are sub 6k currently. Losing 4.5 million of my 5 million toptal gold has ruined the game for me & I haven't played in weeks. It will take years to recover & I will never again use "investment advice" in Warcraft & I don't have the interest after 18 years...thanks :P

Perfect scenario of “you need to know why you invest”. losses happen to all of us as beginners. When prices started falling you needed to ask yourself “why is this falling, will it go back up?” In this scenario it was not expected to rise…. The reason why it was so expensive was due to scarcity since not many people knew how to farm it and people were finally getting enough sparks to craft a 2 handed weapon (the new 2 handed weapons require this item). As time goes on, more supply is on the AH since more people know about it and less demand since less people are buying because they already have the weapons and items they need and so the price falls

sold at massive loss, but recouped about 2 million gold selling about a million @ 7-8k & about another million selling @ 9000-9500+...hopefully after all is said & done I will have lost ONLY a million or so. I lost hope on breaking even, but there is less supply (along with less demand) & the prices seem to rebound slightly over night.
FINALLY sold all the rest of my Obsidian Cobraskins at roughly 5-7k...took over 3 months & I raked back a majority of my investment. I still lost (I think) about 1 to 1.5 million +. Lesson to be learned, speculators BEWARE flipping is NOT for the faint of heart.

The cooldown isn’t the issue, your first kill is the only kill each day that has a chance for the skin to drop

Do you have the correct specialization (Mastery maxed)? The viper will spawn if you do not have the correct specialization. It could also be a side affect of another cobra being spawned recently. You can try again in 10 minutes if you believe the second reason is true

You need bait crafter mastery specced to SUMMON it, but not to LOOT it. Just find someone who can summon it (and who is maybe happy to help kill it fast.)

It is a once a day skinning rare, and the cobraskin does not always drop even then. Price will stay up for a while, not really farmable in bulk
hey new to wow what professions would you suggest for beginner gold making?
If you’ve never done goldmaking before, picking up gathering professions (mining, herb or skinning) is great to start making some gold then you can branch off into crafting

If the title simply said "Potential 50k+ in 15 minutes" or "Daily chance for 50k+", it would be clear that you're not actually going to make 50k+ in 15 minutes as your video suggests.
But I realize that UA-cam videos need click-baity titles and you're certainly not the first person to do this.
If the drop was guaranteed, people would rush to this method and the price would drop extremely low and fast. Disregarding the one time setup, each day you can log into your toon and take 5 minutes to go kill the cobra. Let’s say you get 1 skin every 3 kills (3 days) that would be 1 skin every 15 minutes of active work. Very doable

Im not sure where I got it wrong but I did everything in your vid, I am 40/40 in the Mastery and I went to the Burning Oasis (coords). Yesterday I summoned the Elusive Cobra, and today it was a Magma Mammoth, at the same little lava pool, so the cobra is not guaranteed? I thought the mob was location specific...The cooldown was off on my trap thing, it had been enough time...I think.

The rare is on a 10 minute timer, so sometimes if someone was there right before you and summoned the cobra, you’ll get a different creature. That just means you need to skin some mobs to lower your bait cooldown and do it again. It’s not about your first summon of the day, it’s about your first skin
