The gas stamp mission you can go into the basement and find a switch that deactivates the alarm for the safe. You can do the whole mission unnoticed. I love details like that
you also get a trophy/acheivment for getting the stamps without raising the alarm, i only know that from when i platinumed the game, otherwise id have had no idea about it lol

To this day driving home in a taxi in deep winter, getting out and talking to all the neighbours who recognize you and even the guy working at the newsagent, all while let it snow is playing in the background, easily is my most immersive gaming experience Ive ever had. This game is a straight masterpiece.
In the mission to get the lockpicks for the Jefferson you can customize the car with anything you want that's available, color, tyers, rims, engine for free. Easy way to get Money is to rob gun stores plus free guns. :P
I love being able to go in and rob a clothes store. Running in with a weapon, making everyone freak out and watch as Vito changes his clothes 15 times and then dissappears out the back door. 😂😂
I loved Mafia 2 the only thing that annoyed me was at every other chapter I lose all my money, and guns. But it did give me a reason to start stealing cars, and robbing gun stores.

This game deserves so much more praise than it ever got. The game industry needs to look at this as a perfect example of world building, dialogue, historically accurate, fun, immersive, badass, you name it. Mafia 2 is one of those games that you end up finding yourself getting lost in

... Quite sure that is not true. In the ending of Mafia 1, the last cutscene is the same as what plays out in Mafia 2. I think, but not sure, that in witness protection the name was different. But when Vito and Joe walks up to take him out? The name used is the real one. Something like that. That is why in Mafia 2 you get a Red Sportscar for the mission. I even think Joe is dressed differently in that mission too. Because in Mafia 1 the cutscene shows that exact same car. Joe is also modeled after the Mafia 1 character. Anyways. Found it very strange as to why you got that Red sportscar in Mafia 2 for the mission. At that point of the game your broke. And you get a very fancy car for one mission? Anyways. Mafia things.
This game has the best driving mechanics. It's so easy to just get lost and roleplay while driving, going to the diner, or buying clothes. Wish they had more shop and housing options, Empire Bay is a beautiful landscape and you easily fall in love with it. I wish they had more chapters in the story as well, I felt cheated with only 15.

The last time I had covid I played the mafia definitive trilogy. The remaster of 1 was absolutely stunning, and it was incredible revisiting the second one. I LOVED that one back in the day. Mafia 3 was in there as well.

Loved this game when i played it, only gripe i have is that i wish they gave Mafia II Difinitive edition the love treatment they did for the 1st game when updating the graphics/visuals. looks so much better looking in comparison to this one. i was kinda jarred going from that game to this one and kept thinking my settings werent being saved or somethin' lol also had to do some shenanigans for the physics to work which was unfortunate but not a deal breaker still a 10/10 game

bro I tried playing 3 for 2 times already and both times the game starts feeling dead after finishing Vito's missions, after I do those Irish guy's missions I don't wanna play anymore and after a district or 2 I end up hating the game. if mafia 3 was linear like older mafias I think it would've been regarded as a masterpiece back then, the shooting and animations are fantastic, the vibe is phenomenal and story has weight the first hour or 2 of the playtime but it's stretched too thin after that. wasted potential really.

Just be careful though, there were multiple occasions when I didn't shoot fast enough and got blasted by the shotgun lol
