The Mtv dudes in suits didn't think her look would appeal to the masses. So when they filmed the video for Alone, they dressed her in all black and never showed a whole body shot. They even fixed her hair in a way to disguise the visible weight gain in her face. It was absolutely despicable. I can't watch that video. What those dudes in suits didn't realize was Ann was already a rock goddess way before Mtv.

Heart is a great band. Ann’s vocals and Nancy’s rhythm guitar and vocals are amazing but people always forget the rest of the band. Roger Fisher played amazing lead guitar (most of the solos) and was a founding member of the band along with Steve Fossen on bass. Michael Darosier was the drummer and Howard Leese played guitar, keyboards and backing vocals. I’m not trying to take anything away from the talent of the Wilson sisters I just want to point out that the other 4 members of the band were fantastic talents as well. The whole band should get the credit they deserve.

Roger Fisher is such a unique player - he never tunes his guitar the 'right' way, he tunes it to make weird, interesting chords that fit the song and make for amazing solos. It's really obvious in "Magic Man"; his B and high E strings are tuned up 3 semitones each to a G and D. He broke 7 or 8 high strings recording that song lol

Yes! I remember that now: there weren't any female rockers back then before Heart. Except for Linda Ronstadt. Heart paved the way for the GoGos and the Bangles. Thanks for the memories- rocking with the girlfriends after school on my parents " hi-fi."

🇨🇦 They stayed in West Vancouver, practiced there (wrote and outgrew being a Zeppelin cover band, among others), and recorded the Dreamboat Annie debut album. It got massive Canadian airplay six months before it was released in the US. We knew that when they returned to Seattle and the album was released internationally, they were going to be big.

Hey man, I hope you associate the fact that you were really concentrating on it and picking up all that detail with the fact that you were just focusing on the audio only with no video to go with it. Live video of some of these classic things is fascinating of course, but as a musician, I really feel like you've got to hear the thing that made them famous, even if it was one of several hits, it's the thing that everybody heard and marveled at and it's the thing that they went in there and recorded. And I promise you there is literally no way to put as much percentage of your brain's attention on listening when you have to divide it with watching something. It's physically impossible. Which is why it's great to do both!❤

I got goosebumps in the middle of it just as you're starting to really absorb her voice when she starts going hard near the end, and yeah just the fast Galloping acoustic guitars in the background and that simple but powerful riff that repeats. And everything about it is so well done. The pacing and the Dynamics and the different parts of the story that it comes back through each time. But it's a little different each time. A little more intense each time.

In the 90's, Ann & Nancy Wilson recorded and performed as a duo called The Love Mongers. Their cover version of Led Zeppelin's THE BATTLE OF EVERMORE is fantastic! And they multi-tasked.
Ann plays John Paul Jones' acoustic guitar part, and sings the Robert Plant lead vocal. Nancy plays Jimmy Page's mandolin part and sings Sandy Denny's co-lead/harmony vocal.
    And they flippin' NAIL it.
    * Make sure you've experienced Zeppelin's original studio version before you hear the girls do it!
