I don't know why people are talking like they're smart and calling you down Joe, I think you did a perfect job of rebuilding that sweet bike. May God be with you and your family Joe. When is the last time you bought clutch plates. They're not that cheap. There are a few other possibilities you didnt mention that i would look at before saying the plates are worn. And as Lime Redux said. I dont see why you say it was slipping.
Anyone who thinks that the clutch in this bike is not slipping should never come within 20ft of any bike. 2Vintage is completely clueless and has proven this over and over, not surprised the majority of his audience is just as without a clue.
Mess with the air mixture screw. Turning in richens the mixture turning out leans the mixture. If your out more then 21/2 turns you need to richen the pilot jet. Also raising the slide needle will richen and lowering it will lean it out . Check the spark plug too . Clean the ignition pickup behind the flywheel, if it's dirty it can mess with spark.
Good to see it running. That is one of my favorite years for the Honda CR125. Have a few trophies on the mantle from that year CR125. Sounds good. Running strong. Just reroute the Front Brake line to the inside of the Fork Leg and she is good to go. Should certainly be faster than Charlie's Honda CR125. I already can tell a drag race is in the works.

Very hard to watch , please adjust the clutch before riding it HARD. Joe you have to shift through the gears quicker, that motor won’t last very long the way you are riding it. Keep up the good work on the vids !
Joe the title should have read "Can you get into the dirt on a two stroke for under a grand?" Because that is exactly what you just proved! Don't sell yourself short on this one GREAT JOB and if anyone says anything less they are full of doodoo! You scored 5 of 5 squirts 💥💥💥💥💥 on the WD-40 rating scale!
@2vintage , if you shift gears and the sound doesnt change(rpm drop slightly) or if the rpms increase and you don't increase speed , you're slipping. It did sound like it could have been slipping. You hit about 3 gears and it sounded exactly the same each time. A weak clutch can give the illusion that its grabbing. Has enough to feel it pull. But if its working correctly you will know the difference. If a 2 stroke is running right and you got it wide open, the front wheel should have very little if any contact with the ground.
"Bikes run better with stock pipe" funniest quoter of 2020. No they run better with aftermarket pipes. They breathe better and improves top and bottom end power. You just dont know how to get them dialed in properly😂
A little haste with that conclusion. You have no way to accurately determine that. Might just need adjusted. Might just be worn springs. Maybe it was installed incorrectly. Maybe he left out a plate. You cant possibly have the knowlage to say.
@@briankennedy5578 old comment but dude, in the other video when he had to side case off you can see the clutch basket is notched to hell. It also is lean, you can here it when it’s idling.
I have an 88 of the same bike, whenever you put it into gear it starts to stall on its own. When you pull clutch in while coasting it still rev hangs and doesn’t completely break free. Is the from clutch plates sticking?
To know if a clutch is slipping if the power doesnt wind out if you change gears and the power note or sound doesnt drop down you know its slipping its all in the sound.
Tbh, premium gas in a small 2stroke is not only a waste of money, but it also hinders performance. I just often share what lil knowledge I have on the subject. My favorite 2stroke by far tho, love the 90’s cr’s.
Uhhh what? Lower octane fuel definitely has a higher risk of predetonation. Running straight race gas would be a waste, but you should not run anything lower than premium pump gas. That thing would be pinging for sure on regular 87
