Seems bout right for the u.s😊 japan and the u.s seem to have prices that way. Maybe from the mass flow and import of bikes through the 2 countries🤷♂️ if your anywhere else it seems that your 💩 out of luck and paying an arm n a leg
I bought a 84 Honda ATC200S for $100. Has all plastics and seat in 7/10 condition. Headlight w/o lens, no rear light. No metal racks. Bought a coil, CDI, spark plug, stator for $70ish. Tire has a wobble but it runs great
@@why3011 how donkey??? If you'd by a locked up 30 year old bike for $2000 then you need to strap your helmet on tighter and stop riding the short bus to school while eating crayons and licking the windows you clown
I love these kind of videos Joe. Piecing back together what you already have! Great investment for just 75$ those parts will go a long way! Hope to see you working on this again after the rm125 first ride test!!!!
If you put 5-10 psi in those type pipes and heat the dented area cherry red it will come out. Maybe not cherry red but at least orange. Joe, you da man. Love watching
Joe i used to have a kx 100 that i port and polished as well as had it bored out. It would tear a new asshole in almost every 125 and some 250s. I sold it 5yrs ago because i had blew out my knee and couldn't ride it anymore. Keep moving forward and grinding with the dirtbikes.
Hi bud hope you doing well ,enjoying the builds , the kx250 2 stroke from 1998-2006 sell for $6000 in Australia ATM. (Still in lockdown here in Sydney Australia.. currently I’m building a custom Yamaha wr400 supermoto.
Recently acquired a 97’ KDX200 out of a pile of scrap, the jug has been off and the thing sat there for about 5 years. I’m gonna do what I can to save it, parts availability has been my only issue so far. Hope all is well, love to see your channel grow as you explore your passion more and more
Black non hardening form a gasket is what we used to use to seal a crack in an intake boot way back in the day... Squeeze it into the crack and smooth it down with a flat scraper and throw some heat at it using a heat gun and it seals the crack... Or just press some high end sillycone sealent into the crack if you're in a hurry and don't care what it looks like.. There's also vulcanizing cement but that's a pain in the a55 using a hypodermic and scraper and heat for a permanent fix...
where do you find these deals!!!! i get a 1986 kx125 for 800 that didn’t run but came with a lot of extra parts tho but now i’m looking for a donor bike any help?
my man, the debris in the air cleaner and the corroded carb are not why it failed, thats all stuff that happened to it when it was sitting for countless years. Looks like it lost compression they pulled piston out and gave up and it sat for 15-20 years. Edit... Apparently after watching more... the piston removed itself
Got a little... you find the rusty ones for sure. Got one today. guy wants fixed been behind his dad's old house for about 10 years. 77 XT 500 rust bucket. It was black and brown, now it's all reddish brown rust colored. Can't wait, yeah B.S. crazy but still cranks over, said it waslubed well at least every fall for past 8 years. Loads of wd 40 etc. Down cylinder and filled crankcase with it too.
I bought a 1987 Kawasaki kx 500 for $400 that ran. Later I found it had radiator fluid in engine oil. Got frustrated sine parts are not available new anymore, so traded it for a 1997 honda xr 400 that had no problems.
i would really try to save the 87 get the cylinder re bored and split the cases its worth saving a classic bike and with it only costing you 75 worth a thought id like to see it get saved
i just give my friend a big Syringe Pump where is a plastic hose stuck at the top, and I told him to put end of the wire inside the hose and the other end of the wire into the oil tank and start sucking oil into it, he got the old gas and clutch caples work like a new one.
Hey what's up man? I really enjoy all your videos and l also learn plenty of new things from them. To answer your question, I would love to see you take on a snowmobile project of some sort. Appreciate everything you do man!!!
Take that bottom end out of the frame on that 87 turn it upside down and blow compressed air at the same time you're rotating the crank that should take care of that last kink in the rotation of the crank and it'll help more as yk lubing it again first, and the point of it being upside down is so that whatever piston or other foreign junk that may be in there will drop out
We use to just spray the crap out of the crank with a power washer and rotate that b**** until it spent freely🤣, thinking back on this old tactic of mines it's actually Very effective! Then let water run out of oil plug hole too same time so when you do the engine oil flush you'll only need to do only 1 or 2 times and she's ready for fresh oil👌
My theory is this.... The bike got a rip in the boot, and someone kept running it lean to the point it blew the piston to bits.... Then took it apart and saw the damage and it sat in the back yard for many many years
Hey bud I was still rebuild an engine though because I think it's just a cylinders is stuck on the lower end maybe if you got the lower end case apart get my baby to get all of those cleaned out reuse that engine
You know its going to be a good video when this sentence is uttered at the beginning of the video when looking at the airbox - "Look at all the nuts in there..." LOL
That's a resto project there bud it's all fixable but going to be costly I did one two years ago , Millennium technology did the cylinder highly recommend them top notch work .
Definitely never made a surging powerband bike even in 85 lol but they may of had some bad roads or some bad power valves or some sort of air leak if you got a surging power band you got a problem needs fixing
Breaks my heart to see the neglect by the previous owner. Split the case, rebuild it, a one over bore/piston/ring and mill the head and it’ll be a beast. ?????
That’s what I was thinking. As long as the case isn’t cracked that engine isn’t gone. I’d save it for a rebuild. That’s me though. I guess to somebody else it’d be too much.
Are you going to split the cases on the '87 KX125 that couldn't be saved? That might still be useable, and who knows, the crank "might" (and I stress "MIGHT" :-)) be salvageable with a new rod and big end bearing. Glad you're saving these old lime green bikes!
Hell yeah man . Wherever you live you find the most rarest and cleanest dirt bikes forget about it where I come from Rhode Island I’m lucky to even have my CR 85R In good condition and it’s a 2004
You should really mask up with those mouse / rat nests. You could accidently breath in a virus from the mice waste called hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. It can be fatal for some. Be safe thanks for the videos
I've had several bikes come in with carbs looking like yours and much worse. Every one of mine has had rats nest built in them and their urine runs down into the carbs and eats away. A lot of mine have turned into a chalky white inside and the layers of the carb peel away

The 87 is a clean bike. Split the cases and replace the crank and replate the cylinder.

It’s crazy the price of the bike. That would be a minimum of 3k in Australia.
Absolutely love the videos man, keep it up ❤️
NO BODY IS GOING TO PAY THAT FOR A NON RUNNING BIKE
The old kx's had that light switch powerband that was so fun. Kx had nikasil barrels have to be bored and replated expensive.

Once you realized the piston pieces were in there, why do you continue trying to turn it over? Just curious for learning...
Rat 🐀 piss special !
If that crud is in the cases , the lower end is toasted too . I’ve pulled a part a few bikes like that
Piston grenaded inside, may be tons of it inside crank case, might have to split it to clean it.
That piston in the crankcase could have cracked the cases. You need to split the cases. Good luck finding all these parts…
Wouldn't be one of your videos if your phone didn't go off at least once lol love the videos bro
Piston chunks under crank locking it up... it happens, sucks bit real deal

half a piston scrapnel confetti down in the case ~ no wonder its not spinning
