    Joe, been watching you for 2 or 3 years now and I’ve only commented a couple of times. But you have extraordinary patience and are also very even tempered! I have noticed (since yt started rotating comments) just how stupid and rude many of the comments are, very poor! I am a retired Navy Captain, you are a good young man!

      Agreed, Joe comes across as a really good guy. He has a great voice and sounds exactly like my best friend from years ago, who was an excellent mechanic. We used to ride and wrench our bikes together, and I'd get on his case for doing the same ignoring-good-ventilation stuff I see Joe doing in his videos...and died from cancer just before the pandemic. Hearing Joe speaking almost brings tears to my eyes at times, I still miss him most every day and every time I watch one of Joe's videos. So I can't help but nag Joe about it.

    Joe, as a general rule it's considered best practise to initially fill a rebuilt engine
    with just water. After you know the build is good, drain and refill with appropriate
    coolant/antifreeze/water level. Saves wasting lots of expensive coolant mix.
    Love your channel BTW.

    Couple suggestions. There are a few companies that Replate cylinders. Replate being new Nikasil Plating. These cylinders are not steel bores. They are Nikasil Chrome
    plated. The service typically cost under $300 including shipping to and from. Power Seal and Millennium are two companies that come to mind. Your cylinder comes back looking brand new and the bore is 100% to spec. Much better than an expensive used cylinder.
    Second your not supposed to hone Nikasil Cylinders as the coating it very thin and hard and most standard hones won’t created usable cross hatch. A Diamond hone is needed.
    Some other advise I would give since I’m assuming your flipping these bikes is that I would use Namura Piston Kits. They are very good pistons, come with or without gaskets and are priced very good.
    On this build you probably would have saved $200

    • @baitmaster8706
      @baitmaster8706 2 місяці тому +5

      Man you seem knowledgeable on cylinders but why would he do the cylinder the right way just to put a shit piston in it?. Joe's reputation is worth more than the savings between Namura and Pro-X, he doesn't have to be scummy to make a profit. Don't get me wrong, I buy chinese parts but not for my big bikes. My PW80 that I use for tool/beer runs (shed to garage, not to the store) has a namura cylinder and piston on it and it already looks like shit with about 6 hours on it. That bike makes like 4.79hp, I'd hate to see what a Namura does in a real engine.

    Awesome ride and rebuild! If I lived in your area I would be buying this bike from you. I have too many now as it is though.

    The powerband on the 99s can be adjusted by the screw on the left side of the cylinder I go 1 1/4 with it you can go a little more or a little less than 1 turn you can feel the difference when you hit the powerband its all a preference! ive had this bike since 99 & its still in my garage in 2024

    What a beautiful bike. Great build. What does that power valve rod connect to? Is it throttle position? Do they restrict the exhaust for some reason?
