I Eagerly Await Shipping to the UK Joe ,Thanks,Neil , From Wales UK
@@2vintage Cool that you've started with the merch. Greetings from Sweden, you would be amazed how cheap used Japanese bikes are here compared to over there. 🇸🇪😊
Just bought the black/black Vinnie hat. Love the channel Joe.
The farmer stored this thing in his living room ... in a glass cabinet.
In a vacuum
Fuckin-A right
😂
In a giant coffee can full of argon gas to keep the rust monster away from it even 😅😅 ..
and sold it for $600.
That’s a unicorn for sure. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that clean and the deal you got on it! WOW!!! So jealous 😊
It's a clean one!
all he do is probly lowball people on facebook market all day
This is a great wholesome channel by a good guy. I dont even work on bikes, and I've learned the steps to diagnose issues.
Same here
Same here as well...👍
I've worked on bikes my whole life, yet I still enjoy watching someone else doing it. Joe makes these videos in a very detailed hands-on manner that anyone can appreciate.
Same, his calm, knowledgeable approach and not in your face presentation
My son and I have been watching your channel for years. Appreciate the methodical and thorough way you troubleshoot. It’s helped us multiple times with our own projects. He’s heading off to Engineering school next fall; I think the fun of fixing up old dirtbikes stuck with him a bit.
On another note; you get way better deals than we could ever hope for here in New England. This titled XT is probably one of the best deals you’ve pulled in a while.
Keep up the good work!
You were so confident that it just needed a carb clean that you just finished putting it together before testing it out. 😅
I’m currently restoring a ‘66 Honda S90…an ‘82 CM200C and a ‘95 VT1100 Shadow waiting…I raced a Suzuki in the 70’s while I was in college just for relaxation…now retired I’m restoring as a hobby…you’re “relearnin” me the diagnosis process…keep up the good work…BTW, bought a Vinnie hat…hope my pets don’t get jealous!…
This is a XT225. I had 2 of them. Love them!!! They are great trail/dualsport bikes!
Bem me parecia! A XT250 nunca teve arranque eléctrico e foi descontinuada em 1990. Só uma correcção: é uma "trail", as "trial" são as que trepam às paredes. 😉
i thought it looked like a 225 serow as a buddy has one just like it. but i am not super familiar with em so didn't know if they also made a 250.
As soon as he said 250 I thought, no that's definitely a 225. 😂
@97delkron yes there is a 250 model
@staygold902 there is an XT250 but there wasn't in 1994. This is an XT225.
I have a feeling this beauty might be staying in the collection!! What a rare find in that condition 👍
That colour scheme is atrocious!!
@@gpw203 It's so 90s I love it and would almost be tempted to try and buy it. This would have been my dream bike in my midish teens when it was new. The only thing that could be more 90s is if it had the blue/purple swish design on it that everything in the 90s had.
@ I’m not a huge purple fan either but that’s just how they were in the 90s, colors don’t matter when they’re in this nice of shape 👍
@@gpw203better than nowaday vehicles
@@gpw203 you must be born after the 2000"s cause these colors were and are fire. yamaha made some nice colors on there quad and bikes back in the day.. its nostaligie this clean its rare
Hey Joe, a golden rule, always hook up the negative (or earth) last, that way you will never short the positive (or live) to earth. Loving your channel!
We were taught Negative Positive and Positive Negative or NPPN
I was always taught the red goes on first and comes off last
@ Think about it. I the negative is attached and you put a wrench on the red terminal and it goes to ground, it arcs. If the ground is removed first, there is no path to ground. The opposite is true for connecting hence NP/PN
The particular trouble case is the last clip that you put in place. If you attach the negative sides first, then one positive clip, the other positive clip is now at 12V with respect to the "ground" of the other car's body. If the other red clip touches the other car almost anywhere in the engine, you'll create a short circuit. This is really easy because there's a lot of metal in an engine compartment!
i found out the hard way. made some nice sparks! plug the red one in first
Yes! Finally another bike! I know Joe gets more money per hour working on the bigger machines, but I love the bikes, especially the older ones. Second are the ATVs. Thanks Joe!
What do you mean more money per hour, there his machines
@Johnbruzzi4234 , if he spends 10 hours working on a machine that has a retail market value of $3000, and the same hours on a machine that retails for $10k, he makes more money per hour. Look at the by sides. He buys them, puts hours into them and can sell them at a higher retail price. Then look at the older machines. He can't get that kind of money out of them.
It sounded a little throaty from the pipe when you first started the bike, also it has old gas in there! Good job Joe, another success.
Every morning first thing I do is look to see if you posted a video for the day. If amazing how you find the problem and fix every machine you get your hands on. Keep it up
Amazing, diagnosing and repairing a 250cc was not unlike that of a 6.7 turbo diesel
We definitely need more Vinnie on the channel. I know it's really cold out, but Vinnie is a must whenever possible. ❤
Yes Joe 👌 back to the two wheels 👊❤️🇬🇧
I am currently restoring a Yamaha XT 350 very cool bike, and I am exited to finish up the restoration! Looking forward to watching your video :)
I had an 1986 XT350 (red and white). Great bike except was a pain in the ass to start in the cold (no electric start), and too front heavy going through sand. Other than that, was a shame I had to sell it when I moved out the house.
Great find Joe glad you snatched this one.I remember drooling over these at my local Yamaha dealer when I was 17 and I had an 86 IT 200 which was my first bike at the time and I was in there buying parts. Thanks again.
What a gem!! It's 30 years old and still mint, such a great find.
Another great video, what an amazing find! Just ordered my Vinnie hat, I spent the last 23 yrs working full time in dog rescue and I will wear it when I walk dogs. Happy to support an amazing channel!
Man! What a little gem 💎. Such an easy fix. I think your right about that O ring. It was flooding the carb, therefore running rich and caught fire due to access gasoline. Great little find brother. Can't wait for the next little cream puff. That things basically brand new. 😂 Vinny approves as well that's the important thing.
The PURPLE IS AWESOME just as MY 95 banshee!! Love it
If Vinnie could talk !! Bring home more of those!!
yes he needs more doggies
Ol' Joe loves his dirtbikes! Congrats on the 2Vintage hats, they look great. Canine labor laws prevent 2Vinny from working overtime. Good looking little cycle, now let's tear it apart.
I would guess 2Vinny has a 750cc in him
Faster than a flying Vinny, more powerful than a DT175...what a find! Great channel all round. Keep up the good work.
Please get an exhaust fan, so u can breath 20 years from now! :-)
I commented on that before. I know some diesel mechanics in their 50's with failing health. You think you are invincible when you are young until cancer hits you unexpectedly.
Ol mom probably never revved that bike past 3k, just needed the Gramma tune up to knock the carbon off the piston.
Awesome find! One in a million even.
2 things: something fell from the bottom of the tank and landed on the head when you first started it and revved the engine and then fell on the ground a bit later.
2: the black smoke (mixed with the black spark plug) leads me to believe it’s running rich on the main/needle. I had this issue with a KLx140 that got a big bore kit and bigger kx85 carb.
How the hell do you keep finding bikes like this, in such amazing condition, for so little money. Here in the UK, someone's selling a Maico rusted frame with wheels, no engine, for £600.😢
I know it's stupid prices in the uk even 2001 kx 65s are going for 900 😂
I think l it's the area.
i think he,s bs about the prices...but i dont know why..
Because sellers get in touch with him.
Also, he lives in Wisconsin.
There's a ton of people with off road vehicles in that area.
Here in Sweden 600 for such an old bike in good condition is about what it's worth..... I'm amazed how much you guys pay for old machines in the US
I absolutely LOVE all Yamahas. You've gotten an old motocross bike rider back into something he loves. Always remember, you're making people happy with these videos! Love the dog, getting his exercise! You're a helluva guy, and I feel like you're such an older soul in a young man's body.
XT225 , we have a 2007 with maybe 2400 mile as it sits , very very reliable little dualsport . I found it with 1200 mile & in exc cond like yours but had to give 3x your $600 around 6 yrs ago , got it for my wife . That 225 will take you wherever you want to go & back , good score .
Sweet score.
Currently out of work and have been looking for bikes to flip. So far made 300 off a mint 78 puch moped...going to pick up a 2007 crf100f for 600 here in an hour. Great condition. Hoping to make a couple hundo...
Enjoy your vids.😀👍
How old are you
Hey Joe, I’m 19 and have been watching since 2018 and finally bought some merch (a green Vinny hat). Hope this year brings many more gems like this one to come!
I love the windy off-road paths around the grounds (& the dog!).
Whoa! Not only is Vinny getting his sprints in but, he’s become the official mascot of the channel! Hopefully he’s negotiated a reasonable percentage cut of the merchandise bearing his likeness - lol!
@@billwalter9917 we worked out a pretty good deal haha
@@2vintage Yeah, free room and board.
😢Just wait till 2Vinny's agent calls with his NIL fee schedule
Joe looking out for us always making sure its safe before he takes us on a ride 😂.....nice find brother......🔥🔥🔥❤️👍🏽💯
Your the man Joe! Looks like Vinney was having fun
I remember those bikes back in the mid 90s, life was much more simple back then , cell phones were not glued to people’s hands. Great find on that old bike. Definitely a keeper.
this takes me right back to 94, I was 16 and we were riding bikes just the same I had a YZ80 and we had a YZ125, buddies all had bikes.. we'd all walk them down the ally to the moon or over to deltes and ride all weekend, nobody complained nobody called the cops.. now? ha.. there's warehouses and street there and the cops won't let you ride, well not in years now it's all been paved over.. too bad.. what a GREAT time to be a kid growing up..
You just took a $600 bike and turned it into a $2500 bike! Great job!
Guessing he paid $2500, and turned it into something worth $2501
He did not pay 600
Normal condition is 2500,,that’s a 3500 dollar bike
Joe, you prove over-and-over that the basic principles of an engine being able to run MUST include: Fuel (1), Compression (2) and Spark (3). Add those up and you have the lifeblood of a simple engine, be it two or four stroke. Obviously it has to be in time, but that is it. Figure out those three things, make sure there are no air leaks and most engines will run just fine. Another great job young man...... good on you. Satisfying for you, and us alike.
I'm glad this bike worked out well it looks practically brand new. The hats look awesome too.
🧢👍
Another great mechanic job! It's always awesome to see a new video pop up in my feed..watching your expertise and then scrolling through the comment section with zero drama. Just good vibes, great mechanics, and everyone appreciating the work. Loved the part where Vinnie was racing you...too funny! And that bike? Absolute beauty. You can’t go wrong with those classic 90s colors. Keep up the great work!
Dang, I bet his tractors don’t even look like they’ve been in a field. Love when people take care of things.
I would love to have that little bike to commute to work.I have about 6 miles of 2 lane blacktop to travel to work each day.😁👍👍
Well, all the clean freaks won’t have anything to comment and complain about how your working on this bike lol
Maybe the farmer can teach Joe something.😜😜🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪💩, the dirty geeks can’t wait for Joe to dirty it .🤪🤪😂😂
Love it brother!Prefer the bigger thumpers 600tt! Cracking find Joe!👌💯👌👍💪🤝🇬🇧🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Just wanted to say love the content and watching you bring these machines back to life. I've own a few of the ones you have worked on. I also do all my own mechanics and ive learned a few new tricks off you that never thought about doing . But anyway just wanted to say hi and let you know I bought one of your limited edition all black hats to help you keep doing what your doing and entertaining us boys in illinois. Lol... thank you.
Nice find and good thing you don't have room for any more four wheel toys!!
That totally reminds me of the brand new bike I bought from the show room! Mine was also missing decals, had a burnt seat, discolored plastic, and paint worn off the frame! I watch and like every single video.. but this one had me scratching my head..
Man you get some amazing deals Joe!
Well done, you deserve it too.
Joe, buy a lottery ticket you're on a streak! Great bike and great diagnostics! 31 model years old and runs like a showroom demo! Congrats!
Well at least you have a real excuse now for not washing your project.
Hahaaaaaaaa
NO CLEAN, just fix!😅
Wd40 detail❤
Doesn't need an excuse.no reason to wash them.
Wow, I didn't expect it to fire up that easily. It must've been something wrong with that carb.👌❤️
Hello, This bike was sold in Brazil from 1997 to 2005. But was 225cm. I had a xt225 in Brazil. The year was 1997 and the colours were the same. I loved This bike.
Dear friend in my country such a bike would cost 1500 euros,I watch your videos and I feel great for all these unique vehicles we see.Greetings from Greece
What a beautiful old bike you dont see them like that anymore
Its so mint. Recently fixed up an XT225 for my dad! Such an awesome little bike man, pleasure to work on and ride.
A girl in my area had one like it . She had a yellow seat made. And installed duel purpose tires on it.if the weather was ok she was riding it.
Dang Joe. This is one of the best finds ever. Gotta love buying an old couples stuff. Always taken care of.
Here in PA that bike, they'd be asking 3000+ for it. The prices where your at not just on this one blows my mind. Id make out much better here too 👍🏻
YUP, had to get me a Vinnie hat. My wife and I call it the Vinnie Show (no offense lol). let’s see a special edition collage of all of Vinnie Antics with the machines !!!!
I think Vinny had another gear in him... he was holding back. Another great video Joe! Awesome find!
A $600 bike here in Chicago might get you a frame with maybe 1 wheel! Oh, and no title.
Where did you get it? What can I say, it fell off a truck
@ no, it’s what I’m seeing on marketplace 🤣
Man I have been watching your videos for about a year now.keep up the great work.
Incredible find
Love the Vinnie hats, it's a pity I'm not in the USA. 👍❤️🇿🇦
0:35 Keep the bike you won't find another one like it
Great vid & love your channel. What a gem. That bike was built the yr I grad HS & still runs great…open the garage door Joe!
In 1989 I was looking to buy my first car. Saw an article from a rural town for a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere. Farmer said it used to be his kids who had left for the Peace Corps and never returned, in 1969. Went out to the barn to see it. Paint was oxidized and tires were rotted out. Popped the hood to see a 426 HEMI with a 2x4 cross ram. My Dad looked at me and said “Uh oh”. Car had 17,000 original miles
Yeah, kinda same thing happened to me in 1979
I was a high school senior and found a 69 Dodge Dart for 900 bucks but I needed to borrow money from my parents. Dad went with me to look at it but when he saw the 383 and 4 speed he walked away.
What a find!, great video again Joe! This is the best UA-cam channel
I bet the previous owner stripped the fuel selector and thought the gas was on when it wasn’t. Ran with what was in the carb and then shut off.
Good idea
at 10;15 when Joe unhooked the fuel line the gas was already left on as Joe stated, maybe it was the carb as Joe thought ??
HATs....as soon as you figure out shipping to the UK, I'll definitely be ordering one of your hats. Love the channel, so thank you for creating such a such brilliant content!
That cracked blinker housing is evidence that the bike fell on its side at one point.
You should be a detective....
You are sure the Sherlock Holmes of Mechanics, love watching you solve these mysteries....my wife thinks I'm nuts!!! Wow, how do you even keep a bike that clean.....
Looks like he rubbed it with a diaper.😂😂 wow
You are one lucky lad, wish I could find bikes like that here in the UK, if you ever feel like sending any over here Let me know would love to own a clean bike like that, reminds me of my youth and the bikes I wished I could afford but never could as a school kid
Man you just got your hands on a completely beautiful time capsule!! Great buy buddy!!!!
Why hook up negative first , you never do that one first
Explain why that would be an issue, or are you just repeating something you heard. Just curious.
It doesn't matter which one ya hook up first.
@@jerrywilcox9890 👍
@ well if you connect the positive first , you can not short out the battery on the body of the vehicle .common sense
@ so how many batteries have you hooked up
Other then the colour and year, 2004, I had the identical bike. Did a lot of riding. Taught my kids to ride with it too. I ended up selling it but got more for it then I paid for it new. It was always hard to start, especially when cold. I wished I'd bought the kickstart kit because of that. Thanks for sharing!
Looks like it was made in 2023
What a gem! Like going back to the 90's ! Very cool find!
Bike hasn't started in years, let's rev it to the moon right away. SMH
Get a set of JIS "Japanese industrial standard"
Screw drivers it will make life a lot easier working on these bikes with the Phillips head screws.
Hope you understand how blessed you are and give thanks.
i fell; asleep last night watching this 10 minutes in, i had to search my history to find it and it seems that ive watched 9 episodes in my sleep, no wonder you are top of my feed every day hahaa now i have to re watching them all, i have a game while watching your videos, i tried to diagnose the issue before you, the cool thing is i learnt all of the issues and diagnostic work on this channel and i think im ready for my first bike and a new channel on youtube called 3Vintage hahaa lets go!!
This is why i always run or drain my carborators dry once i started doing this i never had carb issues ever again 😮very nice bike joe a keeper for sure
Epic find! I wanted that bike so bad as a kid in 94 i was 14 but never did get one. Love those 90s colors!! Great vid man big like and sub👍 have a great weekend!
Great video. Makes me think it's time to get my XT250 back on the road. I purchased brand new in 1980 for $1300 including taxes. Mine is Red/Black with white fenders. The bike has more sentimental value to me, which is why I could never sell it. Cheers!
This is what I took my class m cert on… even with a finicky carb that day, it was cake to maneuver
JOE! You bad boy! You hooked up the negative first on that battery???! I’m surprised by that! An awesome mechanic such as yourself knows you hook up positive first…..must have been thinking about the sweet deal you got on this bike and overlooked that? 😜 I’ll let it slide bro…👍
It's nice to see Vinnie racing you again 😅 That bike is mint, and for $600 was a steal. It's impossible to find something similar in Spain. Here bikes are way overpriced.
Great find and excellent results! Be sure to turn that petcock off after every ride.
That was a great buy and Vinnie gave it his seal of approval as well!
What a beautiful vintage machine. Very well taken care and stored. You got at it and running in a couple hours. $ cha ching! Nice job!
Good Score !! I just picked up a 1987 XT350 188.6 miles. Dirty as crap because it sat in a mechanic shop since 1993.
I always look forward to your videos, Joe. And, have you ever thought of auctioning off your vehicles, as I think you may get good dollar for them, more than normal due to your channel?
I wish I can find stuff this clean 😂😂😂 the stuff i find ....always mousse infested and broken. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Wow, that's an excellent deal, and certainly a keeper. If I ever do get another bike, something like that would be perfect. My first bike was a Yamaha dual sport 80. I don't even remember the model. My mom bought it for $500 back in the late 80s.
Clean bike..250 was my favorite but in a Honda. Miss the all weekend trail bike rides with friends. Housing developments ended all our riding spots 40 years ago.
Its an xt 225 not a 250.
Also XRs > XTs
I think this bike now holds the record for the cleanest carb before disassembly on this channel!
Yeah, reminds me of my keeping my bikes clean with S100 motorcycle cleaner and Endust on the paint job. My motorcycle dealer had suggested using Endust on the paint. Keeps dust down to a minimum and gives the paint a wet look.
Wow that bike is clean! What a great find! Awesome price! Hey you forgot to show us the tool kit, I'm curious.... keep up the awesome work, love your videos! 🏍
