    Thanks for building this, its good to see all the new Takom kits, they give us many subjects that we wouldn't have otherwise. Cheers and thumbs up. Shared on my twitter feed and FB.

    Hi Andy, well that was a great little build, and as always you put a lot off effort enthusiasm into the build, you are a true inspiration to the rest of the modelling world, many thanks once again. Just maybe Tacom will bring out a Ferret armoured car.

    Came across your 'build' video a few days ago ... I just got the Takom AML-90 and after watching you 'slap' this together, I got motivated, broke out the kit and got to work. You indicated the fit was good - I guess I got a jinked-up kit then. The left rear fender had a good gap, and both fenders when completed have a seam where the parts joined, that, as far as I can tell when looking at photos, isn't present on the actual vehicle - I had to fill and sand to blend that seam. When I attached H15 to the rear of the chassis, again a huge gap. When the turret was assembled it was clearly 'segmented' in appearance. Looking at static displays on the internet, I got the sense that the turret was smoother looking ... again the filler and sanding routine. One other thing I took issue with is all the mold seams that have to be removed ... even on the tabs that are to fit into the slot of another piece. You don't remove that mold seam, you're going to have fit issues when trying to join parts .. and some of the tabs are small with not much surface to work on. I get that some modeler's like the challenge to overcome shortcomings of a particular kit ... I'm not one of them :) I like parts without sinkholes, mold seams, and flash. I suppose that's why a lot of modelers like kits like Tamiya. I heard a modeler use an analogy about Tamiya kits, he said the fit and finish is so good that all one had to do is shake the box and the kit practically assembles itself. I liked the finished model you did ... I hope mine will turn out okay.

    nice kits brings back memories for me I was a driver on the 60mm one during my service in the South African defence force in the 70's the version was called The Eland(a antelope) and was developed and built in SA also was nicknamed the Noddy car by the troops I will have to see if they are available here I know you can get resin kits here but very expensive

      It was also known as 'gesleepte geskut' (towed array), because they broke down so much. It wasn't until the turrets were fitted to the Ratel chassis that the 90mm came into its own. The 90mm Ratel was used extensively as a Tank Destroyer in the SADF. Yes it could and did kill T-54 tanks, but as a TD i.e. ambush situation etc. it was by no means a tank replacement.

    Lovely model of an interesting vehicle. BTW the gun could fire H.E.A.T. rounds and they would have no trouble going through the side or rear of a T-54. 👍

    I'm building my first military plastic model kit from Tamiya, the quality of the plastic needs a bit of work. Is this normal? I ask because I've been strictly building Gunpla.
    Also do other companies like Takom have the same quality as Tamiya, or better?

    Looks like the same sorta plans with the guns that the french used in the AMX-13 light tank, 75mm, 90mm and the 105mm, speaking of which can you make either the Tamiya AMX-13 or one of the Takom versions please.
    Great build as always! =D

    Hey andy, I have three kits I would love to see you build, the 1/35th Meng ZSU-23-4 Shilka in the Afganskii configuration (bit of a modification to the kit itself but it would look so cool) Essentailly they removed the radar dish and added a night sight. the 1/35th Meng Smerch MRLS. and the Takom KV-5. Though seeing the Shilka would be like a wish for me, I love it so much but I cant afford the kit.

    You are right, these couldn’t knock out a T-55 with the 90 mm. Also from deployment point of view these were employed mostly in supporting special forces advancement into hostile area and later on they were used as boarder guard with some found its way to the South Lebanon Army and Lebanese Forces militias.
    Would be great if you can build the AML90 from Tiger Models

    large gates are annoying but you should always leave nubs and then clean them off the part otherwise you risk damaging the parts.
    the damage or stress marks are certainly easier to hide on armour kits but anything shiny will show up the damage a lot.

      Vladan Covic I'm using AK gloss varnish.

    • @vladancovic9998
      @vladancovic9998 7 років тому

      Mat Diamond Ok, when you put the varnish on model, live it to get dry....usually 24h. Then you can wash or weathering products using only and ONLY enamel thinners. Don't use any acryl or lacquer thinners on top. You have to live a varnish to be totally cure.
