I really like this guy.
So wholesome, no swears.
So happy, i wish more channels were like this
I agree but I like how he goes people take this way too seriously it's all about having fun. I've been modelling my whole life and it's about relaxation and now since I've been out of the military it kind of helps me take the edge off and relax. Thanks again Andy keep it up at love your Channel.. from one of the mediocre modelers.
I agree .. I like his cheerful demeanor and presentation. I also like his minimalist approach to weathering. I'd even buy some kits from him , if he shipped to Australia.
This is the most wholesome man I have ever seen.
Thank you.
My favorite part of a build is the turret, having two turrets is double the fun. Looks like a cool kit.
The resemblance to the KV series is not a accident. The designer Josef Kotin designed the SMK to meet a 1937 requirement.
Kotin also designed a single turret vehicle with a shorter hull. The shorter vehicle met with approval and was adopted as the KV-1.
IIRC there were three tanks sent to Finland for combat testing. The SMK, the T-100, and a KV prototype. SMK hit a mine and was disabled. It was so heavy the Soviets were not able to retrieve it for two months.
The T-100 was not reliable and had very poor reliability and was not adopted. The SMK didnt do much better. The stand out performer was the shorter hull single turret vehicle based on the SMK. This vehicle did well and was adopted as the KV-1.
And one T100 hull was converted to the box tenk we all know: Su100Y :)))
The detail of the SMK is good, it's the paint job that brings out that detail. You use tried and true idea on each of your builds which make it a lot easier to do. Thanks again Andy for letting us in on the build so we can listen to what you are doing step by step.
If the t35 and kv1 had a child!! Looks fantastic mate! :D
Well yes, but SMK came first and inspired the russian mobile bunker aka KV-1 :)
But is funny idea.
I always enjoy your videos Andy! I just wanted to say I appreciate your content, it really is a respite from all the craziness that we live in.
Super well done. Thank you for making them
The KV1 is based on the SMK, not the other way around. The SMK was a called project, but the turret got it's use in the later KV1 built by the same people who made the SMK, at Kirov's factories.
I've been motivated to build again due in part to your videos. The techniques you demonstrate for armor models are stress-free and efficient which is helpful for those who have limited time to build.
Best thing to watch in the morning before school
Great work, love watching your weathering technique really interesting and very informative thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed watching your work! 👍
Love your channel Andy! Just bought a Tamiya Hanomag, my first model in forty years. Thanks for all of the tips and tricks!
Really nice Andy, it came out great. I really like the rivet detail on this model tank!!
Very nice build, I've just started a 1/72 3D printed version of this vehicle
Small correction, the KV tanks were actually a parallel design to the SMK from the same design bureau, instead of the SMK being designed from the KV tanks.
Good to know , thanks.
That is correct. However the KV5 development was based on this hull without the extra turret.
Another great build can't wait to get this kit Steve 🇬🇧
Wow. Awsome result. You're an artist. Thank you for this well detailed video.
Outstanding build! Just found your channel and really thank you for sharing. Enjoying all the technics making me a better builder! Regards Mike
Nice to see the fast forward/Time laps build section again Andy. Thank you!
Where is the tow cable? LOL
What a great build mate, excellent job.
As always an excellent video and build.
Awesome job Andy, as always.
Nice build Andy, interesting tank!
You should make t-shirts with Let's get Started. Keep up the good work
Man you are still amazing!!! I have been watching you since I was five!!! And I’ve never seen a difference in what you do!!! Unlike most other modal makers. Anyway I love you!!!!!!
Siempre es un gusto mirar y admirar cada uno de tus trabajos ...gracias por todo Andy...
I am just about finished with mine. Easy build and highly recommended. I am using Master Clubs KV-5 metal tracks and a winter camo scheme. Nice model.
I love the music selection on Andy’s site, I also love the way it’s all produced, pity it’s so far away.
This channel is the best!!!!
Finaly a model of my favorite tank
Thanks for the video! Just received one of these in the mail from China! Not a big tank builder but have built some in the past. I like
different vehicles so I grabbed this beast to build. Looking forward to it and have some muddy ideas for this Soviet experiment!!
Godspeed
dt
Great video Andy, couldn't wait for you to build it and I cant wait to add it to my collection😁
Great build Andy.
Nice LOTR background
If you ever lose the clear lenses or don’t like them, the easiest thing to do is paint the inside of the light bucket a bright silver and mix up some five minute clear epoxy and add a drop of it into the bucket, enough to fill it and let dry and you’ll have a great headlight
Excellent build mate
Yet another great build!
Interesting kit.
Great build! Currently I'm building KV-5 also from Takom (similar parts, track, hull construction etc.), hope to final effect will be as good as yours :)
Davaï tovarich Andy!! Thx a lot for your wonderfull job!! À très vite à Provins, France!!
Fantastic work. I think I'll have to build one myself.
They have this vehicle in War Thunder. It's definitely interesting, great video.
ACrazed Tanker I have the SMK in War Thunder. Definitely a pain train.
I suggest yuo buy, if yuo have War Thunder that is
It's a premium tho
Great video.
Wow, Andy, that is a cool looking vehicle. As you mentioned, the tracks dont look too bad. When you do them one piece and only leave one linkl open, you might try to do that at the peak of the sprocket, that way the links get pulled together and into place once you finally monte them. Did that on several tanks now with a great result. Even on sprockets with larger teeth like T-55 for instance.
Quality video Andy, as always!
Just picked up a couple of t-shirts, one Andy's Hobby Headquarters and one Mediocre Modelers Club....grabbed one of Luka Cee's t-shirts while at it!
We all need to rethink the weathering of metal tracks and metal wheels and track guides! machines used daily are nor going to rust! They will be shinny steal. During the rainy season track do collect mud. But with my time spent on the FDR. I never ran into rust colored mud!
Love it! Alltought it was kinda stoopid idea 4 a tank (imagine to be the commander and give directions to the driver, tell him to stop every time a turret have to open fire, load your main gun, be aware of the battlefield...), it still looks fearsome... Very glad you did choose that model. I was hopping to see you building it when you show us the new lot... Great job, as allways!
I love your models!
Que buen video!!! Muchas gracias por tantos datos. Excelente.
Andy, awesome kit and build. I want one! One niggle, what you call the “transmission cover” (connects to the sprocket) is actually called the “final drive”. Just a bit from an old tanker.
Andy, I love the music you picked for this video! PEACE:)
Nice build as always Andy! One strange looking vehicle though.
Tchaikovsky and tanks. Very nice!
This tank was really used in Finnish Winter War,but got one hit into tracks and game was over...Funny thing was ,that this tank stayed in place till the end of war ,because like Russians,so even Finnish had not so powerful tow truck to tow it away...after war was towed and scrapped..
Cool build, cheers from sweden :D
Gracias gran kit. Sonora México
LOL whenever Andy posts a video build he is immediately swamped with incredibly diverse requests. So here's mine:
Andy, can you come by and paint my front door?
;-)
Nice kit. I'm building one as we speak.
hello Andy... thanks for uploading... anxiously waiting for your next 1/12th scale Yamaha R1M build... hope you would do the carbon fibre finish for the kit (instead of spraying TS14)... anyway greetings from Malaysia... cheers
Amazingly
Looks amazing
It’s like the Russian equivalent to the Landkreuzer p1000 Ratte
On the decals it is written - "our forces are unlimited"
Interesting - so you laid the decals over a flat clear coat and not a gloss clear coat. No problems with silvering?
Super site super music
Iv been keeping up on ur Instagram page and saw this on it
My granpa and his 3 brothers were on that front this beast was operational on...on the Finnish side.
One of the best things about the Takom kits is the sprue numbering/lettering are cut out and easily read.
smart move to finish up the tracks off-camera :-) if it were me, i could see myself making an absolute mess of linking those segments together and a tirade of swear words would be flying out of my mouth!
3rd, Thanks for good content as always!
Very similar to my KV1 small turret 1/35 Trumpeter, but only tank body was not separated and many parts was bent
Looks good! Arent the return rollers supposed to be rubber?
great build!! would like to see you do the amt re release of the 1/24 d 8 bulldozer.
Hi Andy i never had problems with ts80 and decals.
Greetings from Germany
Funny enough, I am from Finland and I know a lot about the war but I never knew this tank existed. But I read that tank is real Soviet Union made that, but they scrapped it because it was too heavy and very slow.
Hello and greetings from South Carolina! I enjoyed watching this! I really like the Takom products, thansk for showing this! DO you intend to cover the upcoming Rye Field Models T-34/122???
Awesome, but a different looking Russian Tank
Great video as always, I wonder if they'll do a T-35 superheavy in that scale.
Do they make tarpaulin and boxes in that scale to add on top of the side fenders?
It'd be interesting if Takom did one. Alanger/ICM did one, and then Hooby Boss and now Zvezda have all tackled the T-35. Takom does like to wander off the beaten path,, that's for sure!
Really cool tank build! Wonder if your gonna do the "new" STUKA kit soon?
sound and looks god to me need 5 of em yes 4ok be fun to do will see more and chek em doors
another great video. Can you elaborate a little on the tamiya coat and the testors coat and why
Looks like the upper "barbette" comes right to the sides of the lower hull - could have been difficult moulding a seam along that edge ? -so better to build upside-down .
Great job as always but I can't tell if you painted the upper rollers black, you had mentioned they were rubber. One thing I wish you would show during painting is how your mixing the paint with the thinner in the airbrush, what's the ratio of mix? Be nice to see the mixing :)
Next Fine Molds O-I super heavy tank, please ?
Wish i was that good. Do a video for "Tips for people who absolutely suck at modeling.'
yes
Nicely done as always, but just a quickie query; you used to gloss coat before decals to minimise silvering, now you matt coat. Why is that. I thought the silvering was predominantly caused by decals going on to a ‘rough’ surface (matt coat being microscopically rough compared to gloss) and air being trapped between the decal and surface; do the latest ‘sets’ and ‘sols’ alleviate this issue?
I always chuckle when I see this thing. This thing was captured by the Finns during the winter war. Think about it, the nation of Finland capturing a Russian super tank.
is it in the finnish armour museum ?
@@oddballsok no, I believe that it was destroyed.
no it wasn't.the soviet army recovered it and transported it back to the ussr by rail.
Can you do the 1 700 trumpeter New Jersey since i have currently stalled that kit
Andy, what type of thinner do you use with Tamiya panel liner for weathering? I had clear coated a project with testors spray dull coat and then tried using some testors thinner (the little glass bottles) and Tamiya panel liner to weather but it ended up causing my base paint coat to strip
I tried using Tamiya glue and found it not to adhere too well at first. On your video it looks pretty sticky but it doesnt seem to do this for me. How are you making it so sticky?
I've never built a model (yet), but I want this! Love the Russian vehicles.
I’d recommend a modern Tamiya kit for a first build. They’re pricey, but there’s always the second hand option. They generally have fewer parts than the other Asian kits and fit together very well.
Hi Andy. How long does a build like this actually take you from start to finish?
Weathering the tank is awesome, but why don't you weather the tools on the tank? No rust spots on the shovel or axe heads? No sun bleached handles? No rust/grime streaks protruding from their stowage areas?
Hi from Mexico City 🤩
Hello
Decal says: "Our forces are countless"
could i recommend the tamiya panzer 2
I would love to see you build a T35 it has one 76mm turret two 45mm turrets and two mg turrets
do you play World of Tanks? great videos and great skills by the way. I appreciate your work. keep up the good work.
