I'm sure someone has told you this by now, or you might have looked it up, windmills use the power of the wind to turn grain into flour. The process is called milling and it's an old profession that people in old times would pick up the last name Miller. I'm sure you've seen what a milling station looks like. It's that thing that you can see through the opening at the bottom of the windmill. It has a circular table with grooves and a wheel that is closely affixed so that it can press the grains into flour. In times before the windmill was invented or those who couldn't afford to build them would use a mortar and pestle to grind the grain into flour or would use less expensive things called querns that would work similarly to windmills only the stones used to make it would need to be rotated by hand. It was a simple early tool that someone could have made themselves or bought that greatly helped you grind all sorts of things like herbs in addition to flour.

I would love to see an add-on in Skyrim or a mod where you can restore all the Dwemer cities back to their original luster, repairing pillars and everything as you walk through there. You can either make the things you need to repair or become in cahoots with theDwemer museum in Markarth. And he can supply you with things that he has, and all the rooms dotting around Skyrim can be restored because it would be cool to see what they looked like before they were desecrated by time.
I love the Heljarchen Farm mod! It's a staple in most of my playthroughs. I spend way too much time picking plants, cooking food and brewing potions, in between hunting trips for pelts, meat and ingredients. So relaxing. Another favorite is Silverstead Manor. I once build the entire thing by gathering every single piece of building material myself. I had to dive into so many Dwemer ruins for that one and spend hours chopping wood, but the sense of accomplishment was worth it.

As far as i know there are two different types of windmills used on farms. The big building ones are used to grind grain. And the smaller metal ones are used to draw water up out of the ground.
This was a really fun video. I actually really like the aesthetic of Skyrim for a farming sim. Maybe some game developer will see this and make a fantasy farm sim in this style too
I love seeing Heljarchen Hall getting the love it deserves. It is a beautiful location, practically in the center of Skyrim, and the property is just a short horse-ride away from Whiterun. This is apposed to Lakeview Manor where I feel like bandits are going to come out of the woods and try to kill me.
I got a video suggestion if a mod lets you do but pretty sure there is one skyrim but as a guard could be good immersive random encounters also adds bandit raids on cities aslo great vid btw i hope you channel goes far
A Windmill is a wind powered millstone. Millstones aka grind stones were used to make flower from cereal grains. Fun fact, that is were the saying "keep your nose to the grind stone" comes from. It was to make sure it was not spinning too fast causing it to burn due to friction.
10:03 Wind mills (or the more reliable and efficient water mills if there's a river nearby) were used to turn massive mill stones that grind down large batches of raw grains like wheat, corn, and oats into usuable cooking ingredients like corn meal, oatmeal, and flour. If a farm was wealthy enough to build and maintain their own they not only saved a lot of money since they didn't have to pay someone else to mill for them, but smaller farms would probably have paid them to mill THEIR grains as well. Some places that didn't have a river or reliable winds would instead hook mules or horses to poles and make them THEM turn much smaller mill stones. I believe you can find one of those in the base game in Rorikstead.
Now that was a good video, it's a hard choice on whether I prefer this slice of life style content compared to the apocalyptic style of the other videos. They're both amazing- Although, the cat army at the end does give this one a few extra points. The next course of action is clearly to make Gjeoffriehy a Jarl! I'm sure there's a mod based on that concept. (this is a joke, even if there is a mod for it I feel like you'd make Skyrim a barren wasteland by the time you get all the resources.)
This was such a calming video that both held my interest and helped me wind down for the day. Your narration and story telling was perfect for this farming adventure. It's amazing what the modding community has created and how players are reimaging Skyrim!

10:15 A windmill uses wind to turn the sails on top, hooked up to a gearbox. The gearbox rolls a huge stone (millstone) around a track. It's used to grind down (mill) wheat into flour. That's why it's so essential. Uses the power of the wind to save so much labor of manually grinding the wheat

That one Whiterun guard really misses his home :'
this on its own would be such a good game, like skyrim mechanics, graphics, all the works; but its a world of farmers defending and growing their homesteads
I can't express how much this video truly messed with my brain! Both Skyrim and Stardew Valley are games I have put thousands of hours into, and seeing Skyrim visuals while hearing Stardew Valley music made me twitch. Great video, though! I look forward to more content from you!
17:35 Not because no one would want to buy Clover, but because Clover is priceless.
Exactly! Too precious.
ngl watching this makes me wanna play stardew valley again
10:27 Windmills in vanilla Skyrim turn wheat into flour idk what it does in your modded hoop-la tho 😂😅
I love how skyrim tries to have all these quests secrets and all but there's a section of us that go out of our way to mod the game from a big journey to simple life sim and trust me when my PC is fixed imma be playing farming simulator tamerial edition for a long time. Also great content keep it up loved the first apocalypse video love to watch people play skyrim differently always fun
Glad you're enjoying! Skyrim with mods is such a fun sandbox!
My most favorite part of the video? 0:00 - 31:17 . It's that easy. Thanks for this awesome video and all the work you invested into from picking mods and playing, through editing and adding Stardew Valley music. Perfect, just absolutly perfect. Keep up the good work, can't wait for more.
this is giving me some hype for when my khajit lady finally has sold enough pelts and worked enough odd jobs to get the deed. Its gonna be really fun to build it up bit by bit between adventures like I do my player homes
what an amazing video - i love how cosy your game looks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
this video was so lovely to watch and a great mod showcase!
Loved this! Great narration, especially loved the bits you were talking to/about pets. You sound very gentle, this was a very relaxing watch thanks to that
I grew up with a cat named Tiger. Sadly he passed away a few years ago. But it did put a smile on my face seeing you name the cat tiger.
This is great!!! This is literally a question I've had in my head for a few years now. "Can you turn Skyrim into a farming game?" or "Could you play Skyrim as a farmer?" You've done it!
I absolutely LOVED how wholesome this was! Like a real rest for the soul. I've realized that after every nice thing you said I half-expected something bad to happen, like saying "No just kidding fuck you" /punch/, or suddenly turning into murderhobo half-way etc. This video made me realize how tired and jaded I actually am from all the "post-ironic" "quirky" "edgy" "humor". Thank you my guy, I really needed that!
windmills are for turning millstones, millstones grind that wheat into flour. mills also have many other uses, logs into lumber etc
Windmills were and are still used to ground wheat into flour! The wind spins the fans and the fans spin the grinding stones inside the windmill
