EDIT: Hope you all enjoyed the video! Also I just uploaded a video of me FINALLY Playing Morrowind and that was an experience... Surprisingly I didn't find that many bugs in the game. Which is a first for me and Bethesda. Also is the DLC worth getting?
The Shivering Isles expansion is one of the best in gaming, up there with Witcher 3's Blood and Wine, Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty, and Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree. Absolutely recommend you get it.

Same. I’m 33 and these 25 year olds make me feel old daily. I suppose it’s all down hill from here. We all got it coming. Haha I’m replaying Skyrim right now and missing oblivion, it had way better faction quests and writing.

#1 pro tip, make a manual save right before leaving the sewers then you can create a new character anytime from that save without replaying the tutorial/intro.
I’ll never forget walking into a game store, knowing nothing about elder scrolls and buying oblivion based on nothing but the case and then sinking hundreds of hours into it because it was awesome.
My brother bought it for my birthday, knowing his big sister likes fantasy games. So glad he did that. Sadly never really got that far due to bugs (missing mesh). I intend to try it again some day now that I now more about mods. The look of characters and NPCs in the game is the only thing that keeps me from doing that.
@@MrSaviorHD 15 minutes of monologue as you ride towards your own execution while the empire throws the saddest parade ever? vs protecting the emperor from cultists and stepping up to the biggest task in cyrodil? ez answer
horrible opening; just like skyrim, no matter who you want to play as they force you unto a story with so much urgency. Oblivion is the moment in which TES started to suck
Not only that but Martins hand gestures as he cast the spell even seemed the appropriate hand movement in a neck snapping spell 😅 I can’t I’m dying here rewatching it over and over 😅😅
Maybe it’s because it was my first Elder Scrolls game back when it came out, but it still holds up gameplay wise. I like the AI system for NPCs better in this, they feel way more like individual people than Skyrim.
Something I've learned about replaying old games like this....I definitely did not even touch half the content as a child. What I thought I did "everything" turns out I missed A LOT of quest and unmarked content.
@@Timbo360This is factually true. The radiant ai was abandoned in skyrim instead of improved. Skyrim npcs are basically on rails. Oblivions npcs can actually surprise you. So even though oblivion npcs are all special needs, at least they feel organic and unpredictable.
I was 26 when oblivion dropped. I still remember dumping so many hours into it after I got off work. Pack of smokes and a 12 pack with some oblivion was my life outside of work in 06 🤣
Opening mission is amazing and when you first pick up the bow and shoot the well bucket and the arrow sticks in the bucket and gravity affects it and tilts the bucket! My mind was blown, this and the rag dolling such a HUGE advancement. Also Sean Bean and Patrick Stewart as voice actors. I mean come on! In 2006 this was next level! More handholding than Morrowind, which certainly was a bummer.
i will never forget the first time i went out the imperial sewers in 2008. first rpg i ever played. that feeling of freedom and endless possibilities... just magic.
I loved Oblivion. I actual got my first job just to buy an xbox 360 to play Oblivion. This is a great trip down memory lane. Thank you. It makes me consider going back because i never did the DLC's.
Knights of the Nine is pretty good, solid chunk of content all around and fun quests. Shivering Isles is INCREDIBLE, and genuinely one of the best expansions/DLCs of all time.
The first day I had it, it got a line burned into it because my xbox got shook while it was on. Had to borrow money from my Gf to buy another copy. Would ask again.
Imagine thinking you have to force yourself to play one of the best games of the last 25 years. I feel bad for people who have only played modern games as they have declined in quality substantially in order to keep the price the same while spending way more on "pretty" with lots of microtransactions and less on "good story/gameplay"
This was my first Elder Scrolls game way back in highschool. Picked it up on a whim, didn't even know what the series was about. It instantly clicked with me, such fond memories.
As a 44 year old I used to say the exact same thing... then I discovered Kenshi and now 2 games make that list. No promises that it's for you, so don't come back yelling at me. :)
I'm 45, I was waiting impatiently for it. I remember the amazing feeling it was to walk out of the first cave, the first time and looking around at the amazing, green world that was ready to be explored for the first time, after thousands of hours of the quite depressing landscape of Morrowind and the even more depressing last boss there, Dagoth Ur.
@@elvenkind6072 it's a game the allows you to actually role play a story as it doesn't really tell one. You build up a team of 5-15-30 people or so that you create stories for in your head. As hard as you try to keep everyone alive in a brutal post apocalyptic world, you will lose friends along the way and struggle just to survive. The world is huge and diverse and has a lot of organic story telling such as slavers capturing some of your people and then those who weren't caught, rush to catch up and free them, creating a 5 hour sequence of guerilla warfare to save 3 people. I had to chase down 50 slavers and try and rescue my friends and they were just too strong. Then suddenly, a war party of starving peasants attacks the slavers, trying to get food, creating chaos as I jumped in and rescued 2 of my friends but the third was killed in the chaos. Sorry for the long winded story. It's just a perfect game for old school rpg fans, who like not having their hand held.
I'm thrilled you played Oblivion, my first elder's scroll game. Since then I've played Morrowind and Skyrim. I very much recommend Morrowind. Despite numerous helpful mods, I always keep a notebook with open tasks, a page for what I need to level up next/train, and another page where are the trainers. MW holds your hand less, and you will have to learn a lot there but it is very rewarding. Recommend you always carry at least one strength restore potion especially when you visit underground lairs (not fortify potion). Looking forward to your playthrough there.
The number of playthroughs I've done of this game is unrivaled. Even almost 20 years later I still find myself coming back to it. Despite its flaws, I love this game. So many great memories, and the OST never fails to take me back.
As someone who played Oblivion in 2006 (and still plays Oblivion to this day) damn I feel old now, but also I love seeing younger people try it out for the first time and love it. Really shows how special and well designed games used to be to withstand the test of time
I remeber playing this game when it was released. I sunk hundreds of hours into it and loved it. My girlfriend (now my wife) even made herself a shirt with and Oblivion Gate on it withy phrase 'Oblivion Widow' because of how much sleep I was losing to the game. One of the greatest games ever made. Now go back ans replay it midded. And then play Skyblivion when it's finished.
Be thankful you went to Kvatch early. I did practically every side mission before i even looked at the main quest and getting through Kvatch was hell. Pretty much every enemy was a Dremoar of some type
I am CRYING right now!! Thank you sir for helping me relive the unadulterated chaos that is everyone's first run through of Oblivion. I've been playing every few years since 06 and I'd forgotten what it was like to see it all through virgin eyes.😂
Watching your first time playing this has been one of the most hilarious yet nostalgic experiences I've had an a while! Well done lol personally I've sunk at least 200 hours into this game and loved every minute of it. Sadly Skyrim didn't grab me like this one did.
I put hundreds of hours into oblivious in multiple playthroughs, from the age of about 12-15 and i hate to say but I was definitely disappointed in skyrim
I don't know if you went back but the DLC Shivering Isles might be the best DLC I've ever played. Its adds like a 1/3 of the map and a whole new big story. Also the main character is fantastic.
It's definitely in the top 5 of gaming, along with Blood and Wine, Shadow of the Erdtree, Phantom Liberty, etc. Was an incredible amount of content for an expansion, especially for its time.
I put well over 1500 hours into this game back in the day exploring every cave and location and portal on the map + DLC Custom mods like castles and funny commands this game is amazing.
My biggest recommendation if you are going to play Morrowind, is to use cheat command line and set your Speed to 100 right at the beginning. This is literally required to play the game at normal modern speed, it's not even a cheat, otherwise you will literally spend 50% of the game time walking around very slowly. Daggerfall had fast travel, Morrowind was actually the odd one of the bunch that removed the feature. There are in-game "fast travel" such as boat and magic transport. Morrowind do not have quest markers so half of the quests are finding the location, there are online detailed Morrowind game map, I recommend just using it. But I actually enjoy this walking aspect of the game which forces you to explore and it make the game world feel bigger. You should play Morrowind with the OpenMW frontend, it is better than the original launcher and also fixes bugs. Another tip is that you need to play this game with a certain mindset. This game is very open for players choice, you are meant to take advantage and exploit the game mechanic. If you play with modern games mindset where devs lock players into a narrow playstyle it won't feel as fun. That means you can stack attribute potions, such as using Intelligence potion to massively raise your magic points, and create custom spells that does massive area effect or damages, or jump across the game map in one jump (fast travel). If you feel too strong though I would use the difficulty slider.
I am going to second the "look for an actual map" comment. Morrowind is from an era where games came with physical manuals (and paper maps) and it is assumed you have access to these to understand how to play the game. Even with a map, some directions are really obscure, so be prepared. Nothing that a quick google search can't fix though.
There is a single belt mod or something that increases your speed to about the starting speed in Oblivion. Also one that regenerates your magic like Oblivion because in Morrowind you either have to drink potions or sleep to get your magic points back to cast again. (Kill something, run far away, take a nap, then run back to the next group in the cave gets to be a drag fast). Goggle "Lauranas" for these plus one that gives the Scamp more money so you don't have to stand there for 2 weeks "making change" over and over again when selling upscale armor etc.
Always nice to see someone's first reactions to my favorite RPG. :) This was my first Elder Scrolls game way back on the Xbox 360, and I still play it a fair amount to this day.
I love oblivion. Im glad you tried it. Im actually doing my second full playthrough of it currently. I still find it so immersive even nowadays because the atmosphere is so calming. Great comfort game.
Back in early 2000 I started with Morrowind, played oblivion and now still playing Skyrim and I tell you right now because of your video I have to go back and play Morrowind and oblivion again. I love them all three, unique in their own way but the soundtrack never disappoint's
This was definitely my favorite gaming experience of all time. So fun to play, entertaining stories & quests, and the clunky NPCs just make it even more fun & hilarious
Yeah, the NPCs in Oblivion all seemed unique individuals and are so memorable as a result. And humor is an important part of all our lives; so should it be in Oblivion too. These two factors alone raise it above any other game I have ever played.
Stealth archer is great. You can also brew poisons and apply them to arrows. Starts with light boost to the damage, but if you train alchemy, those three effect poisons you can brew eventually will kill anything. And collecting rare ingredients gives you at least some reason to go through Oblivion gates.
It was a random recommend for me, too, but I’m having a lot of fun!! Everything seems like a reference from Skyrim to me (although obvs the opposite is true), and now I finally understand why my Reddit friends get soooo excited about things that are callbacks to the other games! It IS exciting and fun! I’m definitely understanding more about certain CC content!
@@Miss_Camel The first four games of Elder Scrolls all take place within about 20 to 25 years of each other so you feel like you are living a whole lifetime in it. It was really jarring to jump 200 years ahead in Skyrim. I hated that jump. Made all my questing in those first 4 games come to nothing and left me with an empty feeling.
@@greenscheme2040 omg…that would be genuinely upsetting, no one has ever told me that before!! But also, I’m sorry that happened and that Bethesda was an asshole. 😢 (I wish I could say it surprised me, but I don’t think they actually can anymore)
@@Miss_Camel Thanks for the reply. Having played all the games in order I always fight for the Empire in Skyrim because how could I turn on it and it's equality and diversity principles and forget Uriel and Martin or freeing slaves in Morrowind even. Can't ever support a racist side.

I was 2 years old when this game came out. Started my first play through at 6 or 7 years old. I only played when my older brother watched me cause I was terrified of the dungeons and goblins and he watched my dad play oblivion for hours so he knew every tip and trick to give me. Big bro still hasn’t played his own play through to this day, despite watching me and my dad play for hundreds of hours. Just downloaded Oblivion on my ps5 to change that. Today I’m 20 and he’s 23.
Ngl that’s funny as hell that Bethesda has the same trope in Oblivion as in Skyrim, where triggering the Dark Brotherhood questline either knowingly or unknowingly involves you murdering a character that pisses you off
Happened in Morrowind as well. I've no idea if it was done on purpose, but it seems clear that a metric ton of the NPCs were meant(?) to annoy the sheet out of you. 😂 My favorite thing was when they'd interrupt your action, force conversation, but you were in the midst of clicking rapidly, they'd barely speak, dialog box would cancel, and you immediately slash them. 💪😎✌️ Nice. And then... there was the "forbidden chicken" in Skyrim. You know the one; it was GLOBALLY flagged that if you killed it, absolutely *everyone* on the face of the planet wanted your dumb arse in a sling for poultricide. Actually game-breaking without using the console ("~"). 🤣😂🤣
Could be wrong but I believe in oblivion it happens anytime you kill a character who isn't aggressive against you because I told a gladiator he was the son of a vampire and he begged me to kill him, I have triggered it that way. I think I remember murdering a shop owner and it gave me the dark Brotherhood quest so I think it is just killing that isn't in self defence for oblivion.
Oblivion is one of my favorite games ever. It's just so damn charming, even when it's being a bit buggy. And funny enough, I think the main questline is kind of the worst part of the game. So if you do keep playing (you should) you're in for a wild ride. Also play Shivering Isles (the DLC). It slaps. One of the best ever. Good vibeo happy Savior like game :)
Aw man some of oblivions quests were so funny, like the mage guild where the guy wants you to collect a ring from the well, or the assassins quest where your locked in house 😈 I played the shit out of oblivion as a kid, you need to play the dlc as well.
You make me feel soo old. I was 18 when oblivion was released. Having played Morrowind on the og Xbox, oblivion was a graphics showcase for the new Xbox 360. Also, it was very heavy on PC. At that time, oblivion graphics looked hyper real to me, like looking at cyberpunk overdrive today. Those were the days. For many years I still preferred oblivion to Skyrim, it was that good. Also, I still listen to oblivion soundtrack on Spotify
Came across this video and couldnt help but watch as the nostalgia kicked in... By far the best elder scrolls in my opinion but maybe i'm not being fair, i was young and it might have been my first open world rpg. I remember creating a lot of new characters to do the dark brotherhood quests over and over (much better than skyrim i think its fair to say), and also being terrified to go to kvatch as you did early in the game. So many amazing quests, great features such as the arena, graphics are old yes but you can't tell me it looks absolutely beautiful and immersive, and the DLCs are worth it. Oblivion will forever have a place in my heart.
I still remember the visceral excitement I had sprinting to install this after school in 2006...it was the best graphics I had ever seen at the time, and I had endless adventures and fun playing Oblivion. What great memories.
I started playing it this year too and it is wayyyyyyy better than I imagined it would be. It is beautiful, magical, and so immersive. I don’t know if I like it more than Skyrim, but I definitely don’t like it less. I’m so glad I finally gave it a try!
The longer it goes the better it gets, Skyrim is great for the first 10 or so hours then drops off hard, Oblivion stays interesting longer. It is a better game overall just older
1:30 The lockpicking in this game is weird but I can simplify it a great deal for you. I actually love this games version the most if you dont count morrowinds chance to get caught mid pick. If you just LISTEN instead of only looking when you pick the lock, they make 2 noises when you lift them. A single CLICK sound, and a double CliCLICK sound. The double click sound means the tumbler will stay at the top if you click the mouse. All the skill and perks really do is effect how fast the tumblers "move" (the window of time to click before you are too slow) and keep tumblers up if you fail on the next step. With just very little practice you can pick any lock in this game based on your own skill alone, or abuse auto attempt and let your characters stats determine it. One of the first things I always do as a new player is hit up the arena at night to steal the 500 gold from the chest out front.
Oblivion is an absolute gem. It's the only game I ever got all the achievements for on Xbox 360 meaning I had to complete it 100% twice. I put 5000 hours into this game.
im 22, grew up playing this when i was like 7, my dad had it on the tv at my grandmas house. the reason why its so loved is because its a core memory for so many people, a comfort game basically.
I haven't played Oblivion in a long time. But I remember that after a certain amount of hours in, every Oblivion Gate was predictable and basically the same. It led to my disinterest in the game.
It is everything else in the game and the DLCs (Shimmering Isles especially) that make Oblivion the greatest game ever. Play it again but follow this pattern ... Give the Amulet to Jauffre, close first gate in Kvatch, storm the castle. During this do not, NOT, N-O-T ever open a dialog with Martin!!!!! If you stop after this you are the Hero of Kvatch and NPCs worry about the threat but nothing ever happens regards the main quest ever again. No Oblivion Gates open in the land. Nada. The main quest only re-starts when YOU want it to ... if ever. To do that go to the Kvatch refugee tent site. Martin is there happily living his life peacefully. Talk to him then and the quest starts like it was just hours after you closed the first gate as far as the main quest is concerned. But the real joy of Oblivion is doing all the other quests in the game. "Whodunit" (Dark Brotherhood) and "The Ultimate Heist" (Thieves Guild) are worth a replay just for those two quests alone.
Why would you even do the main quest? Never open a dialog with Martin and after you close the first gate no others appear. Go enjoy the rest of the game instead like everybody else does.
Glad I found this video. Oblivion was one of my favorite games growing up. I remembered if you go to the mages guild in the imperial city, Get one of those grand soul gems filled and, go to the alter of enchanting and apply the illusion spell for invisibility you could make your character 100% invisible. Enemies wouldn’t be able to attack also helps with sneaking too. One of the most broken things in the game but was also my favorite way to play through it.
Invisibility is still balanced since any actions cancel it. The actual broken one is Chameleon. You can apply 20% Chameleon to an armor piece. Five armor pieces and now you're completely and permanently invisible.
@@Wolfos530 sorry I meant to say the chameleon enchantment. Been a while since I played this game. I’m glad there are other people who used this method too lol.
There's something about Bethesda's games, from their older days all tbe way to Skyrim, their games have charm to it, you could see their vision even with the limitations.
Oblivion still holds a special place in my heart as it's the game that made me fall in love with The Elder Scrolls. A friend at the time was telling me all about Morrowind, how great it was and how I should play it. I went and bought it for Xbox and after playing it for a few hours completely hated it. I couldn't understand what the hype was about. A year later I saw Oblivion on the shelf at my local game store and was about to pass it up but something told me to give it a chance. I took that chance and bought it and after escaping the prison and exploring the world I was hooked. This was everything I wanted Morrowind to be. I got it for Xbox 360 and unlocked every single achievement. Of course I played Skyrim and ESO later on but to this day Oblivion remains my favorite entry in the series. If it wasn't for that game I wouldn't be a fan of the franchise today.
It's definitely got its corny ridiculous and hilarious bugs and flaws, but it is a great, fun, and rewarding role-playing game that nails the adventure and questing. I think the exact way you would have wanted, at least at the time for sure.
Imo Oblivion is way better in terms of "RPG" than Skyrim.. Skyrim on the other hand has the best mods to date its not even close, which also means endless playthrough.
Disagree. Oblivion might seem deeper, but it’s really not. Skyrim is more streamlined, but things matter more. Leveling didn’t matter in Oblivion. You never felt any progression, which is why I think Morrowind is the best. You go from being a complete weakling, to a literal GOD!!
@@billywilliams957 no I don’t. I’ve put hundreds of hours into all of them. Oblivion’s leveling is broken. It literally doesn’t matter, you can just go through the game at level 1.
@@ElGaby323 well that's interesting about playing it all at lvl 1. But if you did choose to go past lvl 1 you would lose on points by not working on the right skill so it forced you to do those more. like if you went for being unga bunga but lvl'd magic oreiented stuff you would get a diminishing returns. maybe ill do lvl 1 run lol
@@billywilliams957 yea Oblivion would actually punish you for leveling up lol On paper the RPG elements look much deeper than Skyrim, but in reality it’s not when you realize how broken it is.
I played Oblivion in High School a good bit, but I never finished the main story. I did quite a bit of Dark Brotherhood and Arena stuff, but then I bought Skyrim, and I didn't want to go back from the upgrade in graphics. Now I'm just waiting for Skyblivion to release before I jump back into it.
@@Bdavis2475 I may at some point, but I tend to find it hard to get into games with low res graphics, especially when it's low res because of technology limitations and not stylistic choice.
@@peterlewis2178 You do know Skyrim will be considered "low res" sooner than later. Surface glitter fades. Great storytelling and quests last forever. And nothing is wrong with Oblivion's graphics anyway. It looks like a fantasy world unlike the boring, earth-like "realism" world of Skyrim. Realism doesn't belong in a fantasy rpg.
@@greenscheme2040 There's a point of diminishing returns though with graphics. You can reach a point where you objectively can't notice the pixels or polygons very much, and if something reaches that point then, no, it will never be "low res". Yes, you can have higher res, or fancier lighting, or any multitude of things, but the jump in quality is significantly smaller. The base graphics of Skyrim are lower res. They're over a decade old, and the age shows. But they're a massive jump from Oblivion, and for me, Oblivion falls short of the line and Skyrim teeters close enough at the border to be palatable, and is more than good enough with modding.
@@peterlewis2178 Nope. Skyrim will be low res period because graphics improves by leaps and bounds and it will look old foggy whereas Oblivion will continue to shine.
Oblivion has BY FAR the BEST storyline of any Elder Scrolls game and dare I say of any Bethesda game. Don't get me wrong.. I LOVE Skyrim's storyline and I have played it so much since it came out. But I think Oblivion is the better game, the aesthetic, the music, everything makes it the perfect Elder Scrolls game. But I only came around to liking Oblivion more around 5 years ago. If I got asked years ago what the best Elder Scrolls game was, I'd say Skyrim. It was one day I decided to replay Oblivion after many years of not playing the game. I played it again. And it was the best decision I have ever played.
Oblivion is one of my all time favorite games. I can play it over and over and it's a blast every time. I honestly love it more than Skyrim. Listening to this has inspired me to boot it up again...
The reason you can fast travel is because the player character is from Cyrodil. Whatever race you choose doesn’t matter, you were born and raised in Cyrodil. That’s why you “know” how to fast travel there. Champion of Cyrodil is one of my favorite video game characters of all time
I know I cant expect everyone to understand how to manipulate the leveling system for optimal character growth but it truly pains me every time I see someone try to play this game instinctively. I just cant imagine taking anything less than a +5 to my attributes upon leveling. Great game with absolutely busted and unintuitive character growth.
Yeah on a laptop you can monitor how many points you have in any attribute (TDT toggle command shows you the list) so with the help of the limited 5 training sessions allowed at each level (far better than Morrowind's unlimited) you can play a mini game within the main game and always get 5 max in the three attributes of your choice. Endurance first above all else each early level. Strength and Intelligence along with it I'd say as Endurance's wingmen.
I have always told ppl that if you played it you gonna like it there is no hate or boring here and tbh i dont think today's open world games would be the same if it's not for Oblivion and FO New Vegas.. how characters were responding to you and how the world moves with you was something incredible to have 18 years back and i didn't even talk about the story and the designs. You gotta love it bro
Yeah Oblivion is the best. And I put a couple of thousand hours into Morrowind too. (My computer was too old to support Oblivion when it first came out and I couldn't afford a new one then). Morrowind is a great game but Oblivion was greater.
Great video. Really fun to watch. I played Oblivion years ago and I was disappointed with it. Something which you didn't mention, perhaps for avoiding spoilers, with the constant spawning of gates. That felt like a chore than anything else, to the point I forced myself to complete the main storyline just to stop them. Which killed all excitement and desire to keep playing the game for me. Add to that a single, side quest IIRC, quest with the entering of a painting which I found almost impossible to complete. Like seriously for me it was the most difficult part of the whole game. So I got burned out with it and when I finished the story I didn't want to touch it again. Perhaps I should give it another go.
Loved your video of the best game ever made. And yes The Shimmering Isles is the best DLC ever made. Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood are the best guilds though Fighters and Mages are good too. To join Thieves Guild click on a wanted poster of The Gray Fox. One is right in front of you if you fast travel to the Waterfront District in the Imperial City. Also the cheapest house to buy is there and it is great to stash stuff finally. PS: Best attribute to level is Endurance as it adds health points. Have fun, this game never gets old. (Don't forget the Artifact Collector's quest line where you get to be an Indiana Jones type. And finish the Arena so you get the most famous, Iconic (and annoying) NPC companion in any game ever).

#1 pro tip, make a manual save right before leaving the sewers then you can create a new character anytime from that save without replaying the tutorial/intro.
Every Bethesda game 👌
I don't mind playing the intro , it only gets me more excited about the playthrough to come
That’s fire
Only if you don't play with 1000 mods that you're always switching around.
damnnnn why I never think of that
I’ll never forget walking into a game store, knowing nothing about elder scrolls and buying oblivion based on nothing but the case and then sinking hundreds of hours into it because it was awesome.
Tale as old as time, I’m sure. Or at least the late 80’s. It was the same for me, glad I did.
This was me with Morrowind, possibly my favourite game ever
I did this same thing except I rented it from blockbuster and then bought it from them lol
Me too man ❤
Oblivion opening hour or two is still my favorite in any Elder Scrolls game.

Patrick Stewart may have had the shortest role of anyone in that game, but it was certainly the most impactful! For the Emperor!

I can't speak on how well this has aged. But I played this when it came out and back then it was absolutely amazing.
In 2006 I can see this being an absolute behemoth of a game.
@@MrSaviorHDI've got it on my PS3

Me too! This game is amazing.
I was 10! I definitely do not relate!

That's where my naturally inclined stealth archer started.

I loved Oblivion. I actual got my first job just to buy an xbox 360 to play Oblivion. This is a great trip down memory lane. Thank you. It makes me consider going back because i never did the DLC's.
Glad you enjoyed gamer!
Holy shit you are in for a treat with Shivering Isles!
I’m 41 years old. I played Oblivion when it was released. Till this day, no game has made me go to work in the morning after playing all night. 😄
@@georgekitchen7046 I haven't tried Kenshi. What makes it good? It's a long time since I had a really good RPG experience.
Thanks for the advice and watching the video gamer!
OpenMW is so nice! I also picked Morrowind later on and like to play it vanilla even more so with OpenMW making the engine modern
The number of playthroughs I've done of this game is unrivaled. Even almost 20 years later I still find myself coming back to it. Despite its flaws, I love this game. So many great memories, and the OST never fails to take me back.

I don't know if you went back but the DLC Shivering Isles might be the best DLC I've ever played. Its adds like a 1/3 of the map and a whole new big story. Also the main character is fantastic.
Genuinely, this game is my favorite game of all time. I have spent countless hours beating all the quests, messing with NPCs etc.
Please play the dlc the shivering isles, still one of the best expansion packs ever made.

One of the best DLC packs for any game ever. Before the dark times... before "DLC" (in general) actually became a bloody *joke*. 😕
That is really true - if not the best!
It's definitely in the top 5 of gaming, along with Blood and Wine, Shadow of the Erdtree, Phantom Liberty, etc. Was an incredible amount of content for an expansion, especially for its time.
Sheogorath has always stuck in my head, where if you piss him off he just teleports you up 10,000 ft in the air and you fall to your death.
I put well over 1500 hours into this game back in the day exploring every cave and location and portal on the map + DLC

"Also at some point, I became a vampire " is the quintessential Elder Scrolls gaming experience. 😂
I will be giving Morrowind a shot soon in the future. So I appreciate the tips and help!
Or get the "Boots of Blinding Speed".
Almost 20 years later and I still laugh every time I hear the classic "This is the part where you fall down and bleed to BLAGHHHHGH!!!"
The shivering isles dlc gos so damn hard. Ya gotta go through it it’s insanity

I just started playing a couple weeks ago and got hooked, was not expecting to enjoy such an old game so much.

I have to say I have played oblivion a ton, got it when it first released but your commentary legitimately made me laugh
Appreciate it gamer!
You don't have to kill off a character you dislike in Oblivion. Any old city guard or stray innocent will do.

My favorite quest being the one where you go inside a painting and fight stuff with turpentine. So creative for its era
Oblivion is better than Skyrim so you have good taste.
I remember when they announced Oblivion and showed them walking through the wilderness and it looked absolutely mindblowing at the time.
Morrowind and Oblivion are both vastly better than Skyrim, I’ll die on this hill
I should play them but I have bought Skyrim like 6 times
Oblivion much better for atmosphere and gameplay, Skyrim much better for rp and realism if that makes sense?
Morrowind is still the best entry in the series. Oblivion the worst.
Other way around. Oblivion is best. Morrowind is overrated😊@@einarr7301
Oh hell no buddy. Objectively skyrim is the best. There is no other choice. Oblivion is the funniest tho.
Fun fact the best way to enjoy oblivion is by either never leveling up or just breaking the spell creation system
I did a level 1 playthrough but it was pretty boring to always fight low level enemies with worthless loot.
I still remember the visceral excitement I had sprinting to install this after school in 2006...it was the best graphics I had ever seen at the time, and I had endless adventures and fun playing Oblivion. What great memories.

"Jean-Luc? Is... is that YOU?!"
"...There... are... four LIIIGHTS!"

The lockpicking in this game is weird but I can simplify it a great deal for you.
“I FORCED myself to play one of the best, most iconic, and most beloved RPGs of all time”

2:09 that perspective was too funny.
I haven't played Oblivion in a long time. But I remember that after a certain amount of hours in, every Oblivion Gate was predictable and basically the same. It led to my disinterest in the game.
Oblivion gates are easily the worst part in the game.
@@greenscheme2040 The main quest in Oblivion is really fun outside of the gates actually.
If it wasn't for that game I wouldn't be a fan of the franchise today.
i didn't know that some 2006 games looks that good, it's almost 20y old game, makes me feel old (im 22)

Great Video, it is so funny and captures your experience with the game perfectly.
Thank you for reliving my childhood!
Of course gamer!
It's definitely got its corny ridiculous and hilarious bugs and flaws, but it is a great, fun, and rewarding role-playing game that nails the adventure and questing. I think the exact way you would have wanted, at least at the time for sure.
The last Elder Scroll I've played is Daggerfall. Maybe I should give a newer one a chance.
Try it out!
Bro your narration was hilarious! Loving these videos!
@@ElGaby323 i think you have it switched my man
@@billywilliams957 no I don’t. I’ve put hundreds of hours into all of them. Oblivion’s leveling is broken. It literally doesn’t matter, you can just go through the game at level 1.
@@ElGaby323 well that's interesting about playing it all at lvl 1. @@billywilliams957 yea Oblivion would actually punish you for leveling up lol

Try morrowind! The graphics are even poopier but the game actually looks way cooler.

0:37 Man looking like Ego from Ratatouille.
LMAOO
The reason you can fast travel is because the player character is from Cyrodil. Whatever race you choose doesn’t matter, you were born and raised in Cyrodil. That’s why you “know” how to fast travel there.
Champion of Cyrodil is one of my favorite video game characters of all time
False. No one is ever forced to play this masterpiece.
ridiculous that people talk trash about this game. It was light years after of everything at the time.
I don't understand the FORCED title other than to grab attention. Why did you need to force yourself as if it's a bad game.
The shivering isles is like being able to travel to the storie lands of tolkien that you only hear the main characters whisper about
One of the greatest games of all time ❤
It was pretty nice. Especially for the time when it came out.
@@MrSaviorHD In my opinion it still holds up today bro, a timeless classic.. countless hours after school playing it on the og 360 … pure bliss ❤️
Morrowind and Oblivion were pretty dope. Yes, Skyrim was as well, but there's something about the immersion of III & IV that still rival Sky5's.
It was an amazing experience back in 2006. It hasn't aged well, but still has its charms. Also the soundtrack is among my favorites of all time!
Been playing Oblivion for close to 1k hours and MW probably the same, and never ever felt the need to +5 everything. That's a "you" thing man.
Oblivion is peak Elder Scrolls, I don't care what people say about Morriwind.
Saw a friend play this game, went to EB Games in the mall with my parents, picked up GOTY Edition of Oblivion.
Been addicted ever since.
The commentary for this is really funny. Thanks for the laugh
Glad you enjoyed!
