Teens, young adults, adults and elders are basically the same life stage in this game, and in the beginning there were no toddlers or infants, and babies were objects. We basically only had adults and children as life stages
I mean it was weird, but I wouldn't say it was nightmare fuel as that was exactly what happened in Sims 1. A baby was a baby for a bit and then a child forever. It was less nightmare fuel and more like "and we went back to this why?" Adding life stages makes sense, taking them away after two games with multiple life stages is just stupid.
@TheDawnofVanlife I'd say after playing sims 3 for years and paying a lot for sims 4, it was nightmare fuel. Although I admit not as much nightmare fuel as the mother flirting with her son incident.
That was a total reversion to TS1, IMO. It's why I didn't even bother buying it in 2014. Didn't try it at all until a 48 hour free trial in 2017. Didn't buy in until 2021.
The original map screen really shows that they dare to release unfinished product, at such a high price. And sadly they keep continuing this unethical practice until now.
i have just posted a comment on a disney dreamlight valley videos people are ok now when developers bring out half arsed not finished product and are defended we pay alot of money for the product it should be finished.
the big game companies successfully gaslighted us into paying for unfinished, lacking products. And we keep buying this shit. These are c o m p a n i e s. They don't have any moral, they only operate with one goal in mind, and that is money. They will not change their practice as long as we keep buying their products.
It was a stylistic choice. A very bad one they ended up changing, but still a choice. When you moved your curser over a neighbourhood, you got colour for that neighbourhood. Which means they could have had all of them in colour from release day if they wanted that. I'm not sure if the base game was actually an unfinished product or a deliberately stripped down product. Given the nature of the DLC that's been released since, I favour the latter explanation personally. The goal from the start was probably to milk it for everything they could by parcelling out the smallest possible portions at the highest possible price.
Sims 5 has zero interest for me because we can 100% bet that it will be much worse in terms of monetization. I predict a cash shop that sells small little things like a shirt for $10 or a feature like cats for $20. Mark my words, a cash shop or a horrible version of a “battle pass” will be making its way to the sims so they can monetize every little feature. It’s going to get so much worse 😭
Ooh I never thought of a “battle pass” for the sims, that definitely seems like something they would do. Like the more you play the game the more stuff you unlock but you have to pay for the pass of that season 💀 that would basically make sims 5 a goal completion game and you wouldn’t even enjoy it. I don’t think they would do that but I wouldn’t put it past them/wouldn’t be shocked if they did 💀😭
With the amount of time they're taking on sims 5 , they have no excuse for saying that anything missing at launch was due to time constraints. It's been 9 years so far since sims 4 released. For comparison, there was only 6 years between sims 3 and 4
i vividly remember getting sims 4 for christmas in 2014, installing it, and LITERALLY playing for like 15 minutes, closing it and playing sims 3 for the rest of the day.
I think this is like a universal experience, i actually apologised to my parents and told them i didnt want it and cried cause i felt bad they wasted their money 😅
I actually haven't played Sims for YEARS before I got TS4 about 2-3 years ago. I'm not even sure I had TS4 before that (I didn't have Steam earlier and had access to hmm not bought by me or my family games). So I don't really remember the other games vividly enough to care, but I did grow up playing the older Sims games and have a number of vivid memories with it, since I was 8-10. I'm 26 now. I think one of the biggest problems with TS4 is lack of interesting gameplay and features in the base game. You can just barely do ANYTHING. And the packs are crazy expensive - you can get a whole new game for 40 USD. I usually wait until they're on sale and get 2-3 at a time.
at this point. it almost seems fair 😅one might wonder who is ripping of whom. i'd call it justified. after the cost of the first few packs, the rest shouldve been for free.
The sims 4 is a cash grab disappointment. It's a shame EA has lost it's creativity and had decided to suck the life out of it's best medias for monetisation. The sims team needs to take a step back and let some new people come in or actually bother to fight back against this and protest against the company and strike.
Once these other life simulation games become more popular and they actually have some competition. Then they might actually put some kind of effort into their packs/game.
It makes me so much more sad than it probably should but yes. It's a perfect example for companies not caring about the product they produce and scratching literally every last thing they think they can in order to make it as cheap to produce as possible. They want to save time so they make small packs, they don't really do but testing, they don't care if a Pack really works with any other pack,... in order to get more money for less work.
EA was never creative. It's Maxis whom has lost its creativity. EA only cares about their game studios turning cash to the mother company like a milk cow. Happened to many game studios that EA bought with their money and willingly to discard when they have wrecked everything
I know every one loves the Sims 2 gameplay, but Sims 3 is by far my favorite in the series. Even in the base game for Sims 3 you could customize sooo much more. Even your own swatches! It was a good time to be a Simmer.
Same here, my introduction to the series was TS2 and I hold that game dear to my heart, but TS3 will always be my favourite. I remember kiddy-me in awe of the open world, being able to explore the neighbourhood and there was so much fun with just the base game, and then came World Adventures where you could explore tombs and fight mummies. I absolutely love that game.
Ambitions was SO good. Not only did it come with a bunch of really fun active careers, it gave us the option to be self employed, so you could make a career out of any skill as well. And it came with inventing and sculpting skills, which were the best. I loved going to the junkyard and blowing stuff up for scrap. Ambitions just came with so much to do. TS4 could never. :(
Ambitions and Generations are considered the best as far as all the reviews go. These were really the meat of the game, and added so much life. It's a shame we have nothing similar in the Sims 4. It's like they THOUGHT about having those packs, but then scrapped the idea and only took 1 or 2 things from these packs, watered them down, split them into 5 or 6 different packs, and called it a day.
I know right? I was so disappointed when I bought Get to Work and all it had was a couple busted careers and locations you can only visit through work. Sims 4 is disappointing. Can't believe EA is going to ruin this series
honestly. the sims 4 horse ranch is one of the worst one yet. i played with it for like 1 day and i have never touched it since. the only good thing that comes with that pack is the build buy. also the build buy from the new pack sucks so much. there is barely any furniture but there are like 5 windows.
I agree. We are getting less for the same price point. EPs feel like game packs, both horse ranch and this new pack could have been a game pack. I also believe growing together could have been a game pack.
It's so sad how we got to this point. I mean TS3 had a ridiculously overpriced store, but they *also* released massive expansions filled with stuff and things to do. Then EA decided they needed to be much less customer friendly than that.
I like Horse Ranch but being a horse girl it’s the horses themselves I like. High-school years was a total waste for me - I couldn’t believe that going to highschool was so poorly executed, I think I sent my Sims twice. Ugh
Getting a basic hot tub for 20th anniversary is such a slap in the face but speaking of hot tubs, I recommend y'all check out Sims 3 Hot tubs that came in several expansion pack/stuff pack. They're so gorgeous and honestly you can use them as decoration alone. Now, Sims 3 stuff pack is so amazing that's nothing new but imagine this, you can build a basic functional world with just Sims 3 basegame + Town Living stuff pack. That pack comes with school building, department store, cafe/restaurant, business building, Library and even laundromat. Some of them like the cafe or school are rabbit hole shell but stuff like library, laundromat and gym is a full building.
Or you could pick and choose what content you wanted based on expansion packs some I never brought like world adventures, now imagine stuff like school being locked behind that expansion pack so you are paying £20 to send your sims to school and content you'd never use
I just want a life simulation game with character and *gasp* adult themes. Give it an M rating I don’t care… I will always say this… Rockstar needs to reskin GTA to make another game that’s a life simulator game 😂
We have that. It's called The Sims 2. Very adult, but appropriate enough for kids to still play and not be traumatized (except by the cow plant and burglars). We just need a modern Sims 2.
The fact that we now accept that new packs are broken and have waaay less gameplay, CAS and build-buy-mode is actually seriously sad. What a wonderful game the Sims used to be. As a child I spend hours and hours and hours into the first Sims game ❤ Ofcourse every game has some sense of cash-grabbyness. But the way the Sims 4 (read: EA) does it is beyond ridiculousness. I refuse to spend a penny on this and coming Sims games until they are worth my money. If that ever happens again…
I remember when HSY came out and this incest/romance glitch happened like it was yesterday. My sim had a teenage son who had a boyfriend, he broke up with him eventually, but then the dad and the TEEN ex were somehow engaged all of a sudden and it traumatized me for good 😭😭😭
Honestly the sims community is to blame for this because despite every pack being a major disappointment people keep on buying them. If we all collectively boycott EA they’re going to be forced to make a difference
This annoys me so much. People are being bamboozled out of their money and you still want to buy these packs? I have 1 expansion pack and that’s seasons. The only other one I’m thinking about buying is cottage living when it’s on 60% sale. The sims team does not care about the community. The past sims games were made with heavy community involvement, the sims 4 claims they reached out to creators but then why did the base game look like it was made in 3 months? The original houses were and are still bland. They rely so much on the community to CC and mod away the problems that they don’t bother to make packs more detailed and inclusive.
@@gigi3978 true asf. The sims 4 is solely relying on the previous games’ popularity and loyal fanbase because if this bullshit excuse of a game came out without the other sims titles backing it up I’m sure it would’ve had barely any sales and only bad ratings.
EA offered a refund scheme though my request was unsuccessful because Origin had my play count of over 24 hours, however it was the Sim window left open. I didn’t play it that long.
it's worse, the Sims 4 was actually $60USD on launch. Which, even given the incredibly favourable exchange rates at the time that we could only dream of today, meant it cost almost $70 here :')
man I still find that rebrand awful, the brown-green-vomit green colors of the logo's plumbob are an insult to the whole franchise's history of brand evolution, the old logo wasn't even that bad apart from the non-sims1/2/3-style font
I remember expansion packs basically being DLC, it would be focused around one new feature or give an existing feature twice the depth plus a load of features on that theme. The expansions now seem like a mix of the old stuff packs (basically cosmetics with maybe one or 2 specific features, like a new map) and old expansions but they dont get why either was popular. The stuff packs could have been phased out with the sims 4 due to custom content which peaked at the realise of the sims 4
I feel like releasing such a barebones basegame really worked out in their favor due to how many packs you have to buy to compensate for the lack of features
Here is the thing, they have been able to do this to us because they have had 0 competition, i have no idea how or why they have been able to enjoy a monopoly on this genre for as long as they have, but now we have like 3 new games on the horizon to challenge EA's Sims. They were able to treat us like ATMs for so long cause they knew, where else are they going to go? so its going to be interesting to see if they still keep the same mentality when they aren't the only game in town for life simulation, and if they don't change, well i guess i will be moving onto other games like, Paralives, Life By You or inzoi
I feel like Sims 4 maps could be so cute if they were like the ones from Sims 1, they feel very 3D while still being a 2D image plus with the moving details like rivers, waterfalls, etc.
I wouldnt mind some stuff like that or some other options that would help on lower end PCS, to a degree I wouldn't mind a limited open world like say your street is the only thing active rn and then use traveling as a loading screen.
the incest glitch STILL isn't fully fixed yet. and they need to fix some familial tags for the step family and stuff they keep trying to romance each other it always is so disgusting
This bug would have never happened in the sims 3, first of all adult sims can't have any romantic actions with teens (without mods) and you couldnt romance anyone that appeared with in one or 2 steps of the family tree
I didn't know about the incest bug, but I remember when they added that npcs can ask your sims to marry them, polygamy became possible. My sim was married, but had an affair, and then the affair asked him to marry her. I said yes because I wanted to see what would happen, and then my sim suddenly had two wives. I think they patched that out, but it was honestly kinda fun. Sometimes, Sims 4 can be fun to play, but a lot of the time it feels like a chore. The game doesn't really throw any challenges at you, if you want something interesting to happen, most of the time you have to actively make it happen. But then, certain game mechanics actively keep you from making things happen. I rarely visit other lots, unless I'm playing in a household with just one sim. Because I don't usually want to bring all members of the household, but when I just bring one, the other ones either waste their day (in the best case) or waste their day AND have low needs when I come back. In Sims 2, time stood still on your home lot when you travelled, so the other family members didn't lose a day because one sim went out, and in Sims 3 the open world meant I could just switch back and forth between my sims. But in Sims 4, I just can't go out a lot of the time, because the kids won't do their homework, or the spouse won't perform the interactions they need to do for their job (which is also weird and annoying, how does my boss know how much time I spent playing instruments?)
I gave up on finding joy in The Sims 4 a while ago. I play sims 2 and sims 3 if I want the sims experience. I wish Sims 5 will be a mix between sims 2 and 3 but with better graphics, CAS and Build/buy mode.
I totally agree with your comments, Satch! And from my experience yesterday I have to add one more. I can't recall the term for it, but the game play is too much without consequences. Too safe. Even with a mod installed my Sims wouldn't stay angry at each other. Bitter enemies that immediately chat friendly conversations. Very vanilla.
just to add another atrocious difference: in sims 3 world adventures you got 3 (!!) open world travel locations with LORE for each townie and immense details. vacations in sims 4 are lacking so much its really frustrating. i get the feeling that future sims titles will never get close to what we had in sims 2 & 3
A minor correction: *A* dishwasher came in the patch corresponding to the Cool Kitchen stuff pack. Pools and ghosts came in the very first two patches, so they were already in the game by the time they were announced. Also, the maps aren't a product of the game being rushed, but they did start a bad precedent of uneditable worlds with few lots. (The only world with more than ten lots not in BG is Windenburg, and that world IS basically cut content from BG...)
I don’t play the sims 4. I was one of those who bought it when it launched and then went right back to sims 3 and just never stopped playing 3. It’s so so so much more in depth than anything I’ve seen with the sims 4
Also I absolutely LOVE that you showed the difference between Sims 3 and Sims 4 expension packs with Late Night of all packs; A pack that a lot of people thought became redundant with later expension packs but which STILL had so much more to offer compared to most Sims 4 packs!
Genuinely so mad that the tattoo artist career never transferred over bc one of my OCs is a goth lesbian tattoo artist and I want all of my Sims to be as lore accurate to their respective characters as possible but they make it SO FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE to do literally anything. You can shell out $1000 on this game and still feel like you have an entirely incomplete experience.
Great video! I played Sims 1, easily transitioned to Sims 2, but it took me over a year to buy Sims 3, and Sims 4 has never lived up to the previous fun & actively challenging versions of the game. I miss the cake strippers.
Loading screens and even more loading screens…cuz they enhance ,,performance“. Oh yeah, my performance is soooo enhanced by all the interrupting loading screens.
Im so didn't get over the fact that I saw AND PLAYED the HORRIBLE TS4 base game launch! that "world map" + the return of loading screen are the most depressing part of that release! I stopped playing the game until 2018 where there are improvements at least, well... thats I what I thought
I think that you have to have the seasons expansion pack for weather is the mos controversial thing in the Sims 4 And also my first pet stuff is pretty controversial.
The reason why if people asked; Sheeps keep on buying them. They're adding less and less content per release while charging a full price game. I couldn't blame them as they can cut staffing and can make much more money. This is the only game that I still play but pirated. I could've bought 20-30 games if I pay for all Sims 4 DLCs. While each of those games have tons more contents than all of Sims 4's DLCs combined. I really hope they'll do better with Sims 5 or else I'll keep on pirating for the DLCs again. Then again, it's EA. They'll milk you dry.
I was so excited for the Sims 3. I bought a brand-new computer, and I had almost all the expansion packs. When the Sims 4 came out, I bought another computer and was ready for it. Now, I’m not excited for the Sims 5, and that’s sad to me. I’ve been playing the Sims since the very beginning, since Simcity in elementary school 😔
Ah the packs. They do it because they can. Because idiots will always buy it, so why stop? Happy to say I'm still playing Sims 3. When they announced Sims 4 to be free, the first thing I did was go to steam and expand the dlc menu, where even in sale the "add all to cart" was $700+. I laughed for about 2 minutes straight, and closed it all out. Not touching that with a 20 foot pole. I imagine they can release packs for another decade and still not come close to the amount of content in Sims 3.
Thing is i do get some simmers, especially as I see simmers that have started with Sims 4, prefer/like or are used to having full control over the stories in their heads. Sims 4 is a game where basically YOU gotta have a plan on what to do next and what exactly you want your sim to be. Its a blank page you can write anything on it. But with other Sims games, ofc you start with a blank page and perhaps a scenario in your head too, however you dont constantly have to do everything for action.. Maybe you get fired cos you picked the wrong answer in the pop up, or got invited to a party to decided that your sim can choose to party that night instead of doing hw even tho theyre an A student, or found out your sim doesnt have chemistry with the guy you wanted them to be with. Or you saw a rally and wanted to join on campus, or saw art students drawing on grass… Games felt ALIVE without you needing to constantly control everything and command everything. When ur sims was attending a rabbithole class, you could observe other sims and enjoy seeing them interacting with e/o or slapping or whatever.. But in Sims 4, any townie sim is the same as a random NPC. Theyre just there for aesthetics, pack contents are divided into multiple packs so its already easier to be done with its gameplay and start waiting for the next pack after a few days of playing.. In other games things would also happen to you out of your control and your sim would be a townie that is trying to blend in, whereas Sims 4 is more of a dollhouse and anyother sim besides your active household, are there for YOU to fill their lives.. theyre nothing without your sim basically. And honestly having too much control to a degree of having a blank page even if u you start a save file, fits with Sims 4’s “friendly” theme and aesthetics where nothing bad can happen to the player unless they force it. Its cartoonish looks are child-friendly even werewolves look like theyre from a kids book, no burglars, deaths look funnier. And with the game’s initial rate, even if it is smth rushed from a scrapped online project, u can tell the objective was to cater to younger players unlike how older sims games were. Also is the reason perhaps that most simmers that criticize Sims 4 for being an aesthetic dollhouse game, are the simmers that are used to Sims games’ morbid, creepy but also funnily random side
Still to this day Sims 3 Late Night gives me LIFE. I love playing it. I love the world, I love the gameplay. It just gives me all the glamour, fame, city life I always wanted in a life sim
finally got horses in the game after 9 years. i dont need anything else anymore. i can stop gambling now on wether i should buy a pack or not and worrying what might be broken this time. and again. at this point, i feel like only SatchOnSims is the only fair youtuber making content on this. the rest of the content creators i sometimes watch, only talk about how fun the pack is and how they arent being paid for the video but have ONLY got the pack code for free lol. the rest of us can stil pay up. sure. Only Satch is fair.
I was a die hard simmer back in the day from original to The Sims 3. I just downloaded The Sims 4 a few months ago, I took advantage of the black Friday deals and bought some packs and stuff. Then I found Sims 4 drama on UA-cam. OMG I can't even breathe! I needed I am living for this year 😅😅😂😅
You can't release a bug free game, or even a fun game, if you don't put enough time (=money) into thinking, producing, testing, improving, retesting, etc. For a game this old and this big every small altering should result in thorough code review and a large team of testers for every pack, every kit, every feature ever produced in the sims 4. I think that after so many updates and employee rotations no one at EA really knows the code enough to not make a mess, and the developers are not to blame. Any company that has a product that costs more to update than to rebuild from scratch would make the logical decision. Or they can just use their devoted players to test it for free and even get payed for it :)
Basements, terrain tools, toddlers, aliens, ghosts, family trees, bunk beds, story progression, compatibility, painted ceilings, male body hair, fears, favorites, illness/disease… Things that were base game in TS1, 2 or 3 and are still missing: Zodiac signs, burglars, repo man, cemeteries, cars, clothes shopping, grocery stores, private schools, repairman, random deaths, exterminator, pool tables, pinball, inheritance, etc. pp.
Anyone else hit the like button before the video even starts? 😆 Love you Satch! Thank you for sharing your thoughts that we all are thinking and feeling about the Sims 4 😆 The Late Night pack just reminded me of how much I want better dances in the game. I need more options lol. The Sims 4 team has definitely made this into a snowflake version of the series because they're so scared of the cancel mob and god forbid that their feelings get hurt and get triggered because they literally can't handle anything in life that is difficult. It's EA, you won't ever be able to properly cancel them LOL. So thank you for ruining this series for us, snowflakes, just because you're a pansy when it comes to living life 😆
I usually don't use the washing machine and stuff in the sims, but I'm so bored, my sim has nothing to do really so I guess I do that. Oh and last night when I played I forgott to pay the bills and the message popped up that electricity is now dowm, but my sim could use the Pc, the lights, everything worked just fine. Wow what a challenge... xD
I REALLY think a good game pack would be cars. Introduce a whole new world with build able driveways and cars with parking spaces like the sims 3. I really would love an autobody shop that’s NOT a rabbit hole and they could have things like formula racing, derby’s, and smash ups. I know cars in the sims 4 has sooo much potential, I don’t know why they’ve shied away from it this whole time.
Hard to believe it’s been almost 10 years of the sims 4 and it’s missing so much compared to other games! It’s sad when I think of how much I’ve spent on the sims 4 when I rarely have time to even play with my busy life schedule! And to think where it is now… like I am a person that’s fine with no cars and such, but it’s crazy looking back at the sims 2 and 3 in comparison.
Since I am old as the hills, the "the new Sims game has nothing" happens everytime. From Sims2 to Sims3 was brutal aswell as Sims3 to Sims4. You just get used to having all the options.
I literally must have hated the original map screens so much that I forced myself to forget about them like it was a traumatic experience until I got reminded of them again like 2 or so years ago lol.
I honestly feel Sims 4 may have been aimed at builders as a target audience. Would explain the odd choices and majority of expensive packs with little to no gameplay. I do not know all the people who gain early access but from those that I have seen, they are mainly builders. It does not mean they do not play the game sometimes. I mean the amount of bugs that come with the packs and the quality should be questioned. Honestly, I still play the Sims 2 and 3 because they are more fun unlike Sims 4. Another thing is the ceiling, does anyone stare at the ceiling during gameplay? Seems like an odd update. Not saying builders should not get updates but it feels like it is focusing on one group more than the other. Sims 4 should have just been a remake of sims 2 and 3 together. xD Just sharing my thoughts so take it with a pinch of salt. Curious if anyone else feels this way. :3
Released unfinished, and every pack released is put on a system that is already not working...so every pack will be bugged and glitched until the base game is truly finished.
Hi, avid defender of the in game mac make up here, as a person who pretty much only puts eyeliner and lipstick on my sims, the two mac lipsticks, the super shiny one and the one next to it have been LIFE SAVERS for me! They're now my go to lipsticks. But yeah wtf is that irl palette- I've said my piece.
thank god i never paid for the sims 4 remember kids, pirate first, pay later only if they deserve it, otherwise you'll eat more sh'tty products like we all do right now
I pre-ordered sims 4 and loaded in the second it was playable. I returned it in less than 6 hours and happily returned to sims 3 until a couple of weeks ago but I've got so many mods just to make sims 4 playable that it takes literally 4 seconds from when i click to when the pie menu pops up 😂
I am the first person to tell my friends "do not buy anything Sims 4". I have over 1,000 hours in the game and it's because you can tell EA doesn't give a single shit about their players. Until EA cares about their players please if you don't own any Sims 4 content don't buy it. Never buy packs full price and if you are a sailor, even better.
I still have nightmares about babys jumping out of the crib and transforming into a 10 YEAR OLD KID.

They did bring back burglars for the Sims 4, it is EA themselves. They are the burglars, we have always have it all this while.
take the best comment batch, deservingly
girl this is the funniest thing i heard this week
That's not burglary, they're robbing us in broad daylight...
gurl this comment said a lot of reality that I'll cry 😭💀LMAO
I was literally commenting on the need for burglars to come back to my husband like 5 minutes ago.... and we proceeded to talk about FIFA24 & EA LOL
The original map screen really shows that they dare to release unfinished product, at such a high price. And sadly they keep continuing this unethical practice until now.
It really set the theme for the whole game between the hood screen and the object babies. 😂 Even TS1 had animated clocks!

I think this is like a universal experience, i actually apologised to my parents and told them i didnt want it and cried cause i felt bad they wasted their money 😅
Same here!
Same I got sims 4 when it came out cause I love sims 2 and 3. Turned it on and hated it
I'm still so pissed about the MAC collab. THEY COULD HAVE HAD A LIPSTICK CALLED "RUBY WOO-HOO" FFS (ruby woo is an iconic MAC color for lipstick)
eliza orange
Bella Goth Red
plumbob green!!!
I never regret every version and packs that I pirated for the last 10 years
Exactly
at this point. it almost seems fair 😅one might wonder who is ripping of whom. i'd call it justified. after the cost of the first few packs, the rest shouldve been for free.
Exactly. U get all DLCs and have access to gallery. It's like as if u paid for it
I started torrenting them about 3 years ago. No regerts.
@@PLazz257what? I didnt get access to the gallery which is why I started buying stuff
@@leilaniphillips4566 If those games will be good competitors. I surely hope they will! I just don't know if we're getting our hopes up too much
EA was never creative. It's Maxis whom has lost its creativity. EA only cares about their game studios turning cash to the mother company like a milk cow. Happened to many game studios that EA bought with their money and willingly to discard when they have wrecked everything
Agreed. I feel like Sims 4 being so cash grab has kinda tarnished the Sims name.
Let us not forget, Late Night was the THIRD expansion pack of the sims 3. And it came with all of that.
I remember when you had to download skin tone cc because all the black skin tones look grey they didn’t fix it until like 2020 mad
You forgot the journey to Batuu mess 😂 I remember people talking about how incompetent and cash grabby EA are in terms of what their costumers want
A pack that was neither good Sims content nor good Star Wars content.
I know every one loves the Sims 2 gameplay, but Sims 3 is by far my favorite in the series. Even in the base game for Sims 3 you could customize sooo much more. Even your own swatches! It was a good time to be a Simmer.
I still play TS3 the game is just that good
Same here, my introduction to the series was TS2 and I hold that game dear to my heart, but TS3 will always be my favourite. I remember kiddy-me in awe of the open world, being able to explore the neighbourhood and there was so much fun with just the base game, and then came World Adventures where you could explore tombs and fight mummies. I absolutely love that game.
Same, I'm an absolute sucker for an open-world and for creating insane decor with a thousand different patterns x)
in 4 i will have a mental breakdown because things like wood don’t match, in 3 i am never hurt in such a way
@@blitzie66 the mismatched wood swatches drive me nuts too!
Plus the consignment shop mechanic
Ambitions and Generations are considered the best as far as all the reviews go. These were really the meat of the game, and added so much life. It's a shame we have nothing similar in the Sims 4. It's like they THOUGHT about having those packs, but then scrapped the idea and only took 1 or 2 things from these packs, watered them down, split them into 5 or 6 different packs, and called it a day.
I know right? I was so disappointed when I bought Get to Work and all it had was a couple busted careers and locations you can only visit through work. Sims 4 is disappointing. Can't believe EA is going to ruin this series
The ghost hunting and firefighter careers were so much fun! Loved when there was an earthquake and your firefighter’s whole shift turned to chaos
I can’t begin to tell you how mad I was after the 20 year anniversary gift. That showed me how little they care about us as a fan base imo
Controversies living as rent free as my tenants in For Rent because a bug makes them not pay rent. 🥰
Even in san myshuno...
Dream home decorate has never worked for me
honestly. the sims 4 horse ranch is one of the worst one yet. i played with it for like 1 day and i have never touched it since. the only good thing that comes with that pack is the build buy. also the build buy from the new pack sucks so much. there is barely any furniture but there are like 5 windows.
I agree. We are getting less for the same price point. EPs feel like game packs, both horse ranch and this new pack could have been a game pack. I also believe growing together could have been a game pack.
For rent is definitely worse. I'm still looking for the gameplay. It's basically a 40 dollar update to city living.
Ugh
I was about to buy the pack 😂😂😂 nvm that now.
The original hood screen being literally WORSE than TS1 will never not be funny 🤣
I just want a life simulation game with character and *gasp* adult themes. Give it an M rating I don’t care… I will always say this… Rockstar needs to reskin GTA to make another game that’s a life simulator game 😂
there are mods for that
Life by you seems like it’ll be pretty adult-oriented
Korea is up to something with Inzoi...
GTA + sims 4 is my dream! Open world + cars + houses… 🤤
As a child I spend hours and hours and hours into the first Sims game ❤
Ofcourse every game has some sense of cash-grabbyness. But the way the Sims 4 (read: EA) does it is beyond ridiculousness. I refuse to spend a penny on this and coming Sims games until they are worth my money. If that ever happens again…
I remember when HSY came out and this incest/romance glitch happened like it was yesterday. My sim had a teenage son who had a boyfriend, he broke up with him eventually, but then the dad and the TEEN ex were somehow engaged all of a sudden and it traumatized me for good 😭😭😭
The sim pulled out a drake 😅
Honestly the sims community is to blame for this because despite every pack being a major disappointment people keep on buying them. If we all collectively boycott EA they’re going to be forced to make a difference
Facts!!
After for rent I’m genuinely not buying any packs for a while, it’s lazy, half baked, and insulting. I hope other people stop as well
This annoys me so much.
I found my original copy while moving house for the ps4. I spent nearly $80 for the game 😭. It's ridiculous
a controversy that caused a big stink was the terrible rebrand back in 2019 that violated several graphic design principles
The blue loading screen that gave everyone migraines before they toned it down 😭
@@Aphelia. ikr, sad that the Sims phone apps still have that bright blue loading screen even though they swapped for Sims 4.
man I still find that rebrand awful, the brown-green-vomit green colors of the logo's plumbob are an insult to the whole franchise's history of brand evolution, the old logo wasn't even that bad apart from the non-sims1/2/3-style font
The change in what we would get in expansion packs from Sims 3 to Sims 4 will forever be the biggest, most impactful controversy in my book.
"If a Willow Creek house and a hot tub had a baby"
😂 eres un genio.
That’s why I don’t buy the sims, i just download it💀
I gave up on finding joy in The Sims 4 a while ago. I play sims 2 and sims 3 if I want the sims experience. I wish Sims 5 will be a mix between sims 2 and 3 but with better graphics, CAS and Build/buy mode.
And let's not forget the whole mess of the changing tables situation from growing together, also my wedding stories in its entirety
The lack of open world pissed me off so much that I went back to Sims3
just to add another atrocious difference: in sims 3 world adventures you got 3 (!!) open world travel locations with LORE for each townie and immense details. vacations in sims 4 are lacking so much its really frustrating. i get the feeling that future sims titles will never get close to what we had in sims 2 & 3
i legit decline every single ‘date’ or ‘hangout’ invitation in the Sims 4 just bc of the loading
The orginal map screens look the the board game Life before you set it up
I don’t play the sims 4. I was one of those who bought it when it launched and then went right back to sims 3 and just never stopped playing 3. It’s so so so much more in depth than anything I’ve seen with the sims 4
One I’ll never forget is the controversy around the Star Wars pack when it first came out 😂😂
Also I absolutely LOVE that you showed the difference between Sims 3 and Sims 4 expension packs with Late Night of all packs; A pack that a lot of people thought became redundant with later expension packs but which STILL had so much more to offer compared to most Sims 4 packs!
As someone whose favorite part of sims 3 was open world and story progression
The change to sims 4 was traumatizing.
I think that you have to have the seasons expansion pack for weather is the mos controversial thing in the Sims 4
And also my first pet stuff is pretty controversial.
I still mourn the Sims 2. If i could just have Sims 2 gameplay with sims 4 graphics...
Ugh, ikr? I want Sims 2 gameplay, Sims 3 world and Sims 4 graphics to have a baby. We can probably assume Sims 5 won't be that
u can still play it!
@@esymootechnically yeah. But the only way to do it is illegally downloading it and even if you do it crashes 24/7 even with fixing the files.
The reason why if people asked;
Sheeps keep on buying them.
It's sad that we need to get excited for one basic item..
Lol you forgot the skintone controversy.
If all the features we do have were fleshed out and deep the game would be sooo cool.
Or you saw a rally and wanted to join on campus, or saw art students drawing on grass…
Games felt ALIVE without you needing to constantly control everything and command everything.
Its always been WILD to me that the sims 4 released horses and bikes.....but no cars...please make it make sense smh 😢
That hot tub mad me so mad. I was expecting so much more I kept expecting it to transform!
Still to this day Sims 3 Late Night gives me LIFE. I love playing it. I love the world, I love the gameplay. It just gives me all the glamour, fame, city life I always wanted in a life sim
It’s so annoying because computers finally have enough power to run Sims 3 and they dare to keep releasing this crap.
It is a tragedy how small the maps and lots are with every new gamepack that comes out. Absolutely criminal tbh
Sims 3 still has a hold on my heart
finally got horses in the game after 9 years. i dont need anything else anymore. i can stop gambling now on wether i should buy a pack or not and worrying what might be broken this time.
and again. at this point, i feel like only SatchOnSims is the only fair youtuber making content on this. the rest of the content creators i sometimes watch, only talk about how fun the pack is and how they arent being paid for the video but have ONLY got the pack code for free lol. the rest of us can stil pay up. sure. Only Satch is fair.
The previous sims teams laughing at this team and crying at the same time 👈🏾you ruined the franchise we built
We literally pay EA to be the testplayers for the sims 4 at this point
I really regret not keeping my sims 3.
I was a die hard simmer back in the day from original to The Sims 3. I just downloaded The Sims 4 a few months ago, I took advantage of the black Friday deals and bought some packs and stuff. Then I found Sims 4 drama on UA-cam. OMG I can't even breathe! I needed I am living for this year 😅😅😂😅
Your videos always give me a laugh I didn’t know I needed ❤
You can't release a bug free game, or even a fun game, if you don't put enough time (=money) into thinking, producing, testing, improving, retesting, etc. For a game this old and this big every small altering should result in thorough code review and a large team of testers for every pack, every kit, every feature ever produced in the sims 4. I think that after so many updates and employee rotations no one at EA really knows the code enough to not make a mess, and the developers are not to blame. Any company that has a product that costs more to update than to rebuild from scratch would make the logical decision. Or they can just use their devoted players to test it for free and even get payed for it :)
I feel like the romance between lifestages was maybe somewhat intentional(or playtested that way) since the high school pack was euphoria inspired?
i doubt that they'd go there considering the family friendliness of the game tbh. they won't even add real alcohol lol
I really thought after the sims 3 we’d get more advanced looking sims with a lot of traits to have per sims not 3 traits. 😭
It's getting worse & worse 😂😂😂😂😂
anyone who thinks SIMS 2 is the best era of the sims? so much character and you never had to pretend anything all the drama would happen on its own!!!
no pools in base game!!
Basements, terrain tools, toddlers, aliens, ghosts, family trees, bunk beds, story progression, compatibility, painted ceilings, male body hair, fears, favorites, illness/disease…
Things that were base game in TS1, 2 or 3 and are still missing: Zodiac signs, burglars, repo man, cemeteries, cars, clothes shopping, grocery stores, private schools, repairman, random deaths, exterminator, pool tables, pinball, inheritance, etc. pp.
Your laugh is what keeps me going
Anyone else hit the like button before the video even starts? 😆 Love you Satch! Thank you for sharing your thoughts that we all are thinking and feeling about the Sims 4 😆 The Late Night pack just reminded me of how much I want better dances in the game. I need more options lol. The Sims 4 team has definitely made this into a snowflake version of the series because they're so scared of the cancel mob and god forbid that their feelings get hurt and get triggered because they literally can't handle anything in life that is difficult. It's EA, you won't ever be able to properly cancel them LOL. So thank you for ruining this series for us, snowflakes, just because you're a pansy when it comes to living life 😆
Your cackle is the literal best
Shout out to the Star Wars pack pack and the kits who didn’t make the list bc they were so forgettable and bad
Wow what a challenge... xD
Honestly with this game no mods = no gameplay
I REALLY think a good game pack would be cars. Introduce a whole new world with build able driveways and cars with parking spaces like the sims 3. I really would love an autobody shop that’s NOT a rabbit hole and they could have things like formula racing, derby’s, and smash ups. I know cars in the sims 4 has sooo much potential, I don’t know why they’ve shied away from it this whole time.
And it could be based on Monaco
the sims 3 base game did not have hot tubs either. They started with Late Night, I believe
Also, the Starwar one with alien costumes is really messy.
Me who still haven't updated her game since 2015 😂
Since I am old as the hills, the "the new Sims game has nothing" happens everytime. From Sims2 to Sims3 was brutal aswell as Sims3 to Sims4. You just get used to having all the options.
Ikr, this same thing will happen with Sims 5 as well
Really? I played The Sims 2 base game for years obsessively in phases.
I remember when it first came out the clock was broken. My sims would simply walk to another room and an hour passed by.
also why do we have so many bars in the sims 4, but we don't have pool tables.
Sims 4 should have just been a remake of sims 2 and 3 together. xD
Just sharing my thoughts so take it with a pinch of salt.
But yeah wtf is that irl palette-
I've said my piece.
I remember that when the basegame came out it was so dark.
I just started playing sims 4 and keeping it base game. Sims 3 is still loaded and you're able to do so much more
The game so dammit unfinished that minor update and even pack releases include things that should've been in base game. 💀
“you think being 20 is old? that’s a big number.” me, a 23 year old child: 👁️👄👁️
thank god i never paid for the sims 4
remember kids, pirate first, pay later only if they deserve it, otherwise you'll eat more sh'tty products like we all do right now
I like the anniversary hot tub or at least I don't think it's ugly
