dpulliam101 I swear I just watched an 11 minute video and it was terrible so I get to hers and skip a few times only a minute in is she telling the tips already I’m like dang I gotta rewind
My hair was healthy when I permed it, texturized it, and when I was natural but being natural was the hardest. I loved my curls but I loved when my hair was straight because I could always get it curled. I just think that every woman should do what's best for them and what they feel is right for their hair in the moment.
im a cosmetologist and basically its better to use a keratin therapy smoothing treatment than texurizing (underprocessing) your hair with a relaxer..can be dangerous to not relaxing your hair for the full amount of time in the long run because your hair begin to snap on the hair shaft where a certain part took the relaxer more than others. if you go to sally ask for a Malibu crystal gel to restore the the bond that. have been damage from the uneven process
I'll honestly probably still try it. My hair was to my butt when I used to get relaxers, I think it's at it's healthiest when straightened because I can maintain it's moisture more easily. I want only slight results (almost not noticeable), but if it becomes over processed, oh well...it's just hair lol. Probably time for a chop anyway if that happens 😂
I feel the same way. Since I've been natural my hair has the hardest time retaining moisture. When I had my relaxer it was thick, healthy, and growing.
Aneesa H. i’m texturising my hair tomorrow and i don’t care because like you said i retained more moisture when i was relax and i rarely wore it out so it was very low manipulation going on in my hair an tension. an it was long. i’m lucky i still retain length natural but i just want my “easy” going hair
a huge part of life is making choices and learning from those decisions. ..if you'd never texlaxex your hair then you'd spend yrs wondering if you should. ..at least you've learned which texture you like best. so you learned something new about yourself . ttyl :)
+Ambre Renee thanks for this video. I f-ed up my hair (natural) with weave. now it's uneven, and I've been really depressed, but you're just so optimistic. I need to be now optimistic. It will grow back just like before.
"Starting over" is the best gift from God because you can always "right your wrongs." In fact I wouldn't even call it "wrong" I would say it's just "different" results.
Have you tried bentonite clay from whole foods with apple cider vinegar, olive oil, a little conditioner? It will make your new growth soft and your curls will pop. Don't put too much oil and put a cap on, leave for 30 mins. Deep condition after. Rollersets help as well because you are stretching out the hair. When you have two textures try to not let the hair tangle, brush/comb only on wash day with conditioner in your hair if you can help it.
Thank you for your honesty. I've been completely natural for almost 7 years, however I will be texlaxing my hair tomorrow! I've watched several videos and know the good and the bad. Mine is more for convenience for versatility needed for work. I don't want it bone straight so I will closely monitor the time it's left in. Thanks again.
Yeah but the bad is bad unless you're truly ready to keep up with texturizing the new hair it will definitely break at the new hair especially doing the winter. So be prepared keep getting every so often are be prepared to CUT IT OFF.
Was thinking of texturing my natural hair but had concerns about the cons you've mentioned. You've helped me make up my mind to stay natural. Thank you! Now, if only I could figure out how to keep my natural hair from poofing up and staying moisturized...sigh!
I texturized (texlax) my hair a right after high school. I was natural for two years at the time and I didn't know what else to do with my hair besides using braids. I went on hair forums on how to apply relaxer on hair for a short period of time. I used silk elements with coconut oil and olive oil mixed in for 10 min application time and 5 min baking time. I felt like my hair had the same good side effects as yours. But just like you, I got at one application s curls then c looking curls the next application. It was a mess with the line of demarcation in between applications. I had so much breakage after a year of doing a application of every 3 months. Now Ive been natural for 4 years as of this Halloween and now I think I will be staying that way. Love your videos.
"Secret Perm" or "Baby Perm" was what I was told when I asked about texturizing to reduce fights w/humidity, shrinkage and time spent on my hair in general. So I decided to stay natural after working w/it for so long and if I go back I would go all the way back to perm. The time consumption was a huge factor I had to manage b/c I don't use any heat.
Amber Renee you rock I'm a 61 year old woman and I have a Curley hair weave. I've have learned so much from your tutorials on how to care for my hair. Thank you so much for taking out your time to teach women how to take care of there hair. Be blessed you and your family
well at least you tried it! everything doesn't work for everyone! things happen! I transition for 27 months and finally big chop in August I cut 10 inches of relaxed ends off to return natural. I went from MBL to SL, and its just hair! my hair is growing back out so much stronger and healthier so you will be fine beautiful😍😍 and hair journeys are never easy! Good luck to you and don't be so hard on your self we are learning from each other! xoxo💕💕💕
You are on point with the snapping! I texturized my hair and as soon as I did my hair started shedding everywhere. And I'm not talking about fragments of hair. It was literally whole curls. Never again.
Just in time. I thought about you today because I was thinking of doing this and now that you're on your way back to natural I guess I'll keep my natural hair too. We as black women just have to find a way to make it work .
meetme4tlake try banana, avocado, honey, coconut water,or oil or both blend it put on damp hair , at lease once a month, put on a plastic cap about 3 hrs, (condition an oil ) rinse it out, (wash your hair first) do a hot oil treatment every two weeks, a must,
This is why I subsrcibed to you years ago....PURE HONESTY. You had to experience it to know if it would be something you liked or not. At the end of the day, you're still the same person. Its hair...lol. Something that will always replace itself, so you always have another opportunity to do what YOU want with YOUR hair. Ppl need to realize, different things work for different ppl, and ppl dont know what works for them until they have TRIED. And besides, from what I've seen from your hair journey, your hair grows super fast when you found a regimen that worked for you. Thanks for the video. It was super cute how you gave acknowledgement to the ladies who said "you gonna come right back to the natural side". lol. (p.s. I wasn't one of them)
I think she posted just one picture from when she cut it and the picture on the left seemed more like a kinky straight longer length whereas the right her hair is way shorter, silkier ans straighter.
I have texturized hair and I must say I have noticed the same pros and cons as you. I have a UA-cam channel and I always say you have to do what is best for you and your hair. I can't wait to watch your new journey.
I texturized my hair in August.. It gave me more of a loose curl. I get sew ins and my hair leave out has a cuteeeee loose curl but I think that's because I flat iron that part the most idk lol
I want to texturise/relax my hair because I just want it to be easier to maintain (comb, style etc)😫. I don't necessarily want bone straight hair because I know that will damage my hair badly
Different strokes for different folks! Ladies, if your hair is very strong or you have a little girl that her hair is strong yuo Will look for solutions to that natural hair. Natural hair for people that have coarse hair is not funnier at all. Let me give texturiser a try cos, i have tried all natural ingredients you can think of.
I am glad I was able to see this video and I am putting the box back into the bag with the receipt. The pros do not seem to outweigh the cons My daughter has 4c and she had a relaxer put into her hair We grew that out and now I was going to do a texterizer but I decided to twist it out with some conditioner. I love her curl pattern and the strength of her hair so I definitely don't want to change those.
Thanks for sharing! I really was thinking about texlaxing but I think I won't. You reminded me of why I went natural to begin with! Happy trails transitioning out! This was not a setback but a tried experience, so no regrets only regroup and growth! 👌🏾
Hmmmm. To each it’s own...while trying to be on this natural hair journey I feel either way is your choice proper hair care and maintenance is best. My teen daughter love her newly texturized hair, all the tugging, pulling and daily struggle.. I decided to make life easier for her. I don’t regret texturizing her hair. I just feel bad I didn’t do it sooner. I do take her to a professional every 2 months. In between that we do weekly washes and leave in conditioner. The only solution to doing her natural was keeping it braided constantly. She was sooooo tired of wearing braids. Good luck.
i tex for 2 years buoy it was so inconsistent,,, now its all messed up, thin n stringy. . I'm on my way back to natural hope to hang on to both hairs until length increases! Using lovely oil on new growth to keep it soft - while leaving it protective style , it seems to be working. I missed the volume i used to have! Yep my love affair with tex is truly over!
I'm happy for you decision in going back natural... everytime I deep condition my natural I say I'm tired of this and I need to perm this but my hair hasn't been so healthier ... going natural was one of my best decisions ever..... Welcome back my natural hair sister....
i have been relaxed, texturized, relaxed again relaxed again and right back to natural. honestly no matter how annoying my natural hair is I stiller prefer that healthy look.
Thank you for being honest about your experience with texlaxing your hair. I've been strongly considering tex-laxing my 3 year natural hair for weeks... I think we all go through a phase of wavering with our hair. I've been both natural and relaxed and after a summer of wash & go's, fairy nots killed at least an inch of my ends. Anyhow, your video was a gentle reminder of dealing with texturized/relaxed hair; and helped me make my decision to just clip off that inch or two & stay natural. Thanks for sharing & have a beautiful day! :)
i was natural for 4years i loved it, it was thick and curly kinda dry tho.. one day last year in oct i went off the deep end and texturized it worst decision ever!!! it was thin and brittle and lifeless. i cut it off again in January now im on my natural hair journey again once and for all. gotta embrace what God gave me 😀 good luck
Your honesty was refreshing. I'm very tender-headed, and it's a nightmare when I detangle my really thick, kinky curly hair. So I have been strongly considering texturing lately. But I honestly feel like I would miss my hair and eventually transition back to natural. I already transitioned once, and honey let me tell you that that was an ordeal I will NEVER be willing to go through again. Lol
You got my attention , when you said that the new growth and texture hair snaps off when combing ..... my hair is thick and never shows it true length but I rather be natural than go thru the big chop again . Thanks for sharing.
Your makeup is gorgeous! I think texturizing is for those who like relaxed hair but prefer it not to be bone straight, in this case one is not concerned about a curl pattern and your hair is a little healthier/ strengthen. However I didn’t understand your breakage maybe you would have needed a protein treatment because if you are relaxed new growth is in its natural state which give you two different textures and most won’t experience a complete break at that point long as it’s consistent like every 12-16 weeks. This is for the ladies considering this.
i was transitioning for a few months had soo much new growth but i decided to relax it all in july. i kinda regret it bc i dont like my hair being bone straight. im doing my best to take care of my hair now but if it starts getting damaged i'll start over and texturize it. i love how your hair looks. idont have the time or patience to deal with my naturally thick and coarseeeeee hair.
I learned a lot about my hair after I stopped texturing it. My experience was good from the start, I was having my hair in a wash and go method, but then as soon as my thick hair grew it out, my hair was not having it and so it went down hill - so my old hair would just fall out and I had to cut off the ends cause the textured hair would turn to bone straight.
+kimoni6 it's the smooth infusion line. when you use all the products it really stretches the hair out makes it easier to get straight and it really fights the humidity! I loved it
+kimoni6 I mean the line is a bunch of products... But I purchased 3. I got a travel size of the glossing straightener, and I got the full size of the product called naturally straight and the conditioner. I used the condish when washing the naturally straight and glossing product before blowdrying / flat ironing. Depending on what I was going for. I don't think you need both, the naturally straight is supposed to be sufficient and used longer term the glossing product is meant for one time use but I sometimes used them together sometimes separate. Hope that helps!
Ok I k I'm 10 months late lol but I'm natural and I use the Mizani thermasmooth but it still reverts a little if I haven't straightened it in a while.. But I may check into aveda. I have heard good things about it..
VERY helpful. Thanks for your honesty and clarity of your experience. I was on the fence about this decision because of the time it takes to detangle my 4b hair and the hair that is lost after detangling. I will remain natural. Good luck to you and stay beautiful. :)
Totally unrelated but you remind me of Omarion's wife April ! And so sorry I was considering to texlax my 4c hair just for the hell of it but I get scared of the fact that my hair may thin out again. Glad you're on your way to having healthy hair again!
I was thinking of texturizing my hair again because I want more length. After watching your video I remembered that I had the same experiences the last time that I texturized- my curl pattern changed and my hair fell off quite a lot while brushing. I might let my natural grow a bit longer and see. Thanks girl!
I had texturized for about 3 years. It's cool but sometimes I feel like it stunts growth. Texturizer free now but I'd say it's better than the perms which probably had more health risks especially for black females.
i can recall you saying that you used just for me products and just for me products are damaging. If you were going to use a relaxer on your hair I would tell you to use an expensive relaxer like Mizani which specializes in all textures. Price matters
Thanks so much for sharing, I really appreciate your openess and honesty. From personal research and your video i can tell i'm looking at a texturizer in the wrong light. And your (and many others) cons are deal breakers for me. I'll be exploring less drastic forms of manageability with my hair. All the best on your new journey. X
I was so close to trying texlaxing but I love my curls...I know I'll miss them because when I do my hair in protective styles I miss my curls lol..just gotta work with what I got....thanks for this video
welcome back ! lol. I know the feeling I texlaxed for a few years until my curls were wavy. SMH ..I transitioned for two years and it was the best decision I ever made my two daughters did as well andoir hair is thicker and longer than it ever has been ! Good luck
Thanks for this video :). I was hesitating between transitioning straight to my natural hair or do some texturising but with your video I feel like texturising much like relaxing and I do not want to harm my hair anymore , so thanks :).
Thanks for sharing this. I could relate to some points as I've been textlaxing my hair for several years now. And I can say I am still seeing major hair growth and I'm not sure I'll ever go natural full time.
I cannot keep an straight relaxed treated hair style, my hair is starting to curl more and I take blood pressure medication, I am strongly considering getting texturized treatment
if you want to texurize,a product that is known in the salon are keratin therapy treatments it gives you a restored healthy look, hair is processed evenly. 10x less damaging as the relaxer method and is versatile. Organix sells one i have used for $20 its called brazillian keratin therapy. You can buy it at local drug stores,Its amazing i recommend it for my clients.
Thanks for the info I've experienced some of these same pros and cons and feel that I'm gonna try to stick with staying natural and try to find another way to manage and moisturize my hair
I texturized my hair but the middle is straight the ends are curly and my roots are my natural waves I love and hate it I just hate my hair wet cause all the the different curl pattern but it's growing but twist outs such now because my hair is growing out and shrinking
It's hard to do my 4c hair so i just wear wigs. I feel like i should just texturize it and be done.😢 My natural hair is really thick and long too, so I'd love to wear it out.
I had my cousin texturized my hair because i didn't feel comfortable with my natural hair , it was short , didn't grow and it wasn't manageable for me or my mother to do. Now that my hair is texturized i hate it so much , how would you suggest i grow my hair out without having to cut it?
Joella Xavier I texturized my hair 2018 in December, because I couldn’t maintain my 4c at that time and afterwards I got the same side effects she mentioned. Well, I chopped it off last year September and since then it’s been growing good, but like everyone I’ve got my good and bad days. I recommend: Rice water (wash rice a little and drain it into a bowl - soak rice again (make sure the rice is covered fully) with orange (orange has Vitamine C, which is good for the hair) - leave it overnight - add the water into the same bowl that is already filled with the other water - keep it in a bottle); a water spray bottle mixed with aloe vera juice (it’s better when you get the plant and mix the aloe vera yourself) and depending on your hair type heating cap method and make sure your hair is either twisted or braided, wanna keep your protected at all times
When you return natural you can go to a natural hair salon & they can tell you what products are good for your hair to retain moisture. You can also Google & see what's good for natural hair that has a hard time retaining natural.
Hello Ambre, Good luck on your new journey! This time around you should try to flat iron less like once every 3 months, you will gradually see a difference in thickness of your hair.
Great video! I'm going back natural too. I've been texlaxing, but it's been breaking off my hair. Right where the new growth and ends meet. I guess I need to go back to natural too
I was 5yrs natural when I texturized my hair in 2012 and I regretted it too,I didn't like my curl pattern as well... So I transition for a yr then big chopped in 2014 and I'm Almost back to where I was before I texturized.I took it as a learning experience.
Thx for d vid. I'm doing my hair right now as I'm texting this. Im natural and been debating about texturing. I have asked a few ppl and they have told me not to do it as well. This was helpful...Thank u!
I'm the same exact way!!!! I'm starting all over as well... I adored my curls when I wore my puffs now it's not the same at all 😔 but cheers to starting over
When you talked about the snapping of the hair... AMEN! that's exactly what happened to me and it caused me to lose 3+ inches of hair in the back of my head. 😢😣 please help! How can I straighten my head with NO harsh chemicals OR lots of heat?? I'm a guy btw.
I want looser curls but a texturizer ia like a perm amd I had it as a teen and some hair fell out. Luckily it grew back but I don't want to experience that it is. They need a temporary version of a texturizer where with a certain shampoo we can get our normal hair back
I wanna texlax my hair one time because water would run straight off and the water had to be hot for products(shampoo, conditioner) to get into my hair
I’m scared to texturize my hair because I have multi textured hair and some of my hair is straight well now it’s wavy but if I do texturize my hair I’ll skip that section tho, but my hair is thick as heck I just wanna make it more manageable
It's so hard to manage! My hair is in the worst shape it's ever been due to trying to be texlaxed. Now idk if I want to be fully relaxed or transition to natural...
Welcome back to the dark side lol. I wanted to try texlaxing but I know my hair is really sensitive to chemicals and heat. I love my curls but I just need better management lol .You're so lovely and I'm pretty sure you make the best decisions for you. thanks for sharing with us!
My mom basically forced me to texturize my hair(im 12) and i really hate it i never wanted to do it in the first place but now its to late and i dont know how to get it back
Girl I'm sorry to hear that journey you did with your hair and failed. You look like you wanted to cry. Hopefully this next transition will stick! I feel your pain :(

i tex for 2 years buoy it was so inconsistent,,, now its all messed up, thin n stringy.
I went natural in 2014, I texturized my hair a week ago and I regret it! I will never for it again, I miss my natural curls. You live and learn.
You did it wrong that's y
Thank you for being honest about your experience with texlaxing your hair. I've been strongly considering tex-laxing my 3 year natural hair for weeks... I think we all go through a phase of wavering with our hair. I've been both natural and relaxed and after a summer of wash & go's, fairy nots killed at least an inch of my ends. Anyhow, your video was a gentle reminder of dealing with texturized/relaxed hair; and helped me make my decision to just clip off that inch or two & stay natural. Thanks for sharing & have a beautiful day! :)
For some people it works but I've come to realize it's not my thing
i was natural for 4years i loved it, it was thick and curly kinda dry tho.. one day last year in oct i went off the deep end and texturized it worst decision ever!!! it was thin and brittle and lifeless. i cut it off again in January now im on my natural hair journey again once and for all. gotta embrace what God gave me 😀 good luck
Lol
THis is exactly me...
This is for the ladies considering this.
also (Miss Jessie) sells a treatment that restores the elasticity to hair to get the curls back springy ,it worked for my hair
your eyebrows are everything right now
i was transitioning for a few months had soo much new growth but i decided to relax it all in july. i kinda regret it bc i dont like my hair being bone straight. im doing my best to take care of my hair now but if it starts getting damaged i'll start over and texturize it. i love how your hair looks. idont have the time or patience to deal with my naturally thick and coarseeeeee hair.
Thank you for being honest
we appreciate your honesty girl. we support you all the way.
;D thank you
Ambre I can't hear a word you are saying. You are EVERYTHING, like I can't even focus. Beyond beautiful 😍 You should be a MUA on the side.
+Bella Faith Awwwww thank you!
This was so helpful! I was getting so tired of caring for my natural cool but you saved me and reminded me that will miss those beautiful coils!
How did you get your hair to grow so long
Try the Aveda Straightening products! When I was still natural I used it faithfully and the humidity was no match!
hi is it one of those straightening products?
+kimoni6 it's the smooth infusion line. when you use all the products it really stretches the hair out makes it easier to get straight and it really fights the humidity! I loved it
+C Jazmyne thanks for replying. How many products are talking about, like 2 or 3?
I have heard good things about it..
do an update on being a nurse
+MsMsLking I will soon! :)
+Ambre Renee thanks!
VERY helpful. Thanks for your honesty and clarity of your experience. I was on the fence about this decision because of the time it takes to detangle my 4b hair and the hair that is lost after detangling. I will remain natural. Good luck to you and stay beautiful. :)
mslaboria uh
Totally unrelated but you remind me of Omarion's wife April !
And so sorry I was considering to texlax my 4c hair just for the hell of it but I get scared of the fact that my hair may thin out again. Glad you're on your way to having healthy hair again!
Omg She does look like her
I was thinking of texturizing my hair again because I want more length.
Alicia Smith thank you for this comment 😭❤️
Your makeup & lashes are absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!
I cannot keep an straight relaxed treated hair style, my hair is starting to curl more and I take blood pressure medication, I am strongly considering getting texturized treatment
u look like Monica girl just beautiful
wow she reallly does
malika flowers
malika flowers ing
malika flowers NOT!
if you want to texurize,a product that is known in the salon are keratin therapy treatments it gives you a restored healthy look, hair is processed evenly. 10x less damaging as the relaxer method and is versatile. Organix sells one i have used for $20 its called brazillian keratin therapy. You can buy it at local drug stores,Its amazing i recommend it for my clients.
Can you use this on top of texturised hair then?
I love your voice so relaxing
Don't you mean "so texturizing"😂
You're so pretty & your hair is beautiful!
I so agree with you... I once texlax and I was experience the same... I haven't texlax for about 2 years now..
Thank you for standing on your truth.
Do you think you can do a tutorial on how you get you top knot to stand so tall?
Rafaella Yorke cantu is 1 product that good for u if i was just stick to cantu
Hello Ambre, Good luck on your new journey! This time around you should try to flat iron less like once every 3 months, you will gradually see a difference in thickness of your hair.
+Jazzlynn Marks I already flat iron way less than that bc I'm usually wearing weave
Can you do a top knot tutorial. Your hair is so cute!
I'm also going back natural too! Lesson learned I'm so glad you did this video.Guess it's all wigs this Winter:(
+winnie Chris girl I am in wigs constantly as we speak. Growing my hair out.
Great video! I'm going back natural too. I've been texlaxing, but it's been breaking off my hair. Right where the new growth and ends meet. I guess I need to go back to natural too
Your experience can definitely help others so thank you for sharing. God bless!
What lip color are you rocking ? #GorgeousOnYou
Glad I saw this. I will not put any chemicals in my hair now.
everything you said is too true. I am on the same journey sister. Thanks for sharing and being honest
I'm the same exact way!!!! I'm starting all over as well... I adored my curls when I wore my puffs now it's not the same at all 😔 but cheers to starting over
+Tarah Davis Yea you win some you lose some! Its all about learning!
+Ambre Renee yes ma'am it is
I texturised my hair and the outside layers of my hair are bone straight😩
Cuz y'all are applying it WRONG.
That's ok bc some areas in the hair are straighter
When you talked about the snapping of the hair... AMEN! that's exactly what happened to me and it caused me to lose 3+ inches of hair in the back of my head. 😢😣 please help! How can I straighten my head with NO harsh chemicals OR lots of heat?? I'm a guy btw.
I want looser curls but a texturizer ia like a perm amd I had it as a teen and some hair fell out. Luckily it grew back but I don't want to experience that it is. They need a temporary version of a texturizer where with a certain shampoo we can get our normal hair back
how is your hair today? my hair has been texlaxed for as long as I can remember. I'm going natural too. thanks for the video
I wanna texlax my hair one time because water would run straight off and the water had to be hot for products(shampoo, conditioner) to get into my hair
I have been natural for 12 years and 5 months and i am still natural but i still wanna texturize my hair cause of how thic it is
Makeup Tutorial on this look please??? I love the makeup look!
I’m scared to texturize my hair because I have multi textured hair and some of my hair is straight well now it’s wavy but if I do texturize my hair I’ll skip that section tho, but my hair is thick as heck I just wanna make it more manageable
You saved me...thanks girl!
It's so hard to manage! My hair is in the worst shape it's ever been due to trying to be texlaxed. Now idk if I want to be fully relaxed or transition to natural...
Anyone know her lip brand/color? Love it!
Aww yay welcome back to the club! :)
Welcome back to the dark side lol. I wanted to try texlaxing but I know my hair is really sensitive to chemicals and heat. I love my curls but I just need better management lol .You're so lovely and I'm pretty sure you make the best decisions for you. thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks for sharing your results. This was very helpful.
I feel your pain :(
+Arianantor Brooks I wasn't going to cry lol. It is disappointing but Im actually excited to transition again. Its exhilarating.
Do you know how to strip it from hair because my hair is like straight and shiny not curly
I need help! I texturized my daughter's hair and now the hair is sooo hard! it doesnt feel like hair anymore! what can I do please?!!!
your voice reminds me of draya
