On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Buddy of mine in the Kyrgz Air Force flew the Mig 21's and 29's. He said the Mig 21's were like death traps that tapped and rattled whenever it was under G load but was an absolute rocket. He called the 29's rust buckets. When the US Air Force came the Bishkek to move their Afghan operations he said he was amazed at the F15's saying they like alien machines.

Man those SA-2 launches are scary. I saw somewhere a pilot call them "telephone poles" flying at Mach 3 towards you. They did a hell of a mess in the ranks of the Israeli airforce
IIRC they got that nickname from the US AIr Force in Vietnam. They were huge because they were intended for use against bombers at high altitude, but they also showed a decent ability against smaller targets at lower altitudes.
One nitpick here: the R-60 wasn't in serial production until 1973. Arab MiG-21s were armed K-13s (aka the AA-2 Atoll)

If you really want support, try increasing your altitude. The SA-2s have a minimum engagement altitude of something like 1,000 feet or so. As long as you fly above that, there's going to be all sorts of missiles being shot at any failed IFF challenge.

Question: What would the comms be like during this battle? Would the AAA have your transponder to differentiate? Would there be a commms channel to talk?
There would be Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) but I'm not sure how reliable it would have been in the 60's.

While in the Navy I was in an A4 Squadron and a F4 Squadron. I love how the F4 smokes just like real life.

The Phantom was a great aircraft in its day for what it was designed for plus the looks with that tiger face, mig 21 hit and run planes, mirage great dog fighter.
I love these larger fights, especially the historical ones.

At 19:27 you actually had 2 on your six and one in front that you see at 19:46. so technically you could have been merged with 3 or 4. Not sure whether the F4 that shot the missle was was the same one that over shot you.
You gotta admire the Egyptian fighters though, the Mig was nice, but it wasn't much of a match for either the Mirage or the Phantom
Egypt ended up getting F-4Es later as well.

the fight for the egyptian side was much harder than that of vietnam when america inveded vietnam . that is because the flat very flat terrain of the peninsula

Indian Air force still flies MIG -21s and there's a lot (A LOT) of accidents that now the ex servicemen, veterans, analyst have named this fighter ' flying coffin box'. I don't know why they (7 squadrons of IAF)still fly this antique machine. Whether it is by choice or by circumstance.
