I have the softopper. It’s a solid make . Held up well while driving in a wind storm on highway 80 through Wyoming.
Tough decision. The Softopper looks more utilitarian and come in different colors. I’m liking the tan color. But the Supertop has a better frame and rail setup. I like that all the hinge points appear to stay above the rail.
Switched back to a hard shell. The rain was an issue over time. Maybe I didn’t seal it well enough. But I miss it cause I loved the way it looked.
I love the “Twill” option of the bestop. Expensive, but quality is exceptional. I just received mine for the 2021 Gladiator.

@@fistpittingnork drove it 2000 miles to Midwest on hunting trip. 75-80 mph the whole way w zero problems, went trough high pressure car wash with no issues. Now there are a couple of corner points where top meets truck bed that need a foam seal to make truck bed 100% water tight and that will b a very simple adjustment. I’ve had no issues w zippers even in extreme cold temps.

Would love It If one of these companies would come out with a universal kit. Then maybe I can have one for my 77 Dodge Long Bed. I mean there Is a big market that Is being missed with older trucks.

I have a softopper and a friend has a best top, both are great. Pick the one that fits your needs.
Which one keeps out the elements better? I’m most interested in a clean bed as a #1 feature.
How the hell do I know which fits my needs better? No one ever gives a detailed explanation of one vs the others or the pros vs cons of one or the other.

Are either compatible with stake pocket racks? It LOOKS like something like the Adarac would work but hard to tell if there’s enough room for it all to fit.
The Bestop Supertop for Truck 2 wouldn't work with the Stake Pocket Racks, the rails that you mount on the top of the truck would interfere.
I'm in the same boat. I've got an Adarac pro series rack. I think that the Supertruck 2 will fit underneath the Adarac but some rail modifications will need to be done but that's minor.
Does it hold well under machine carwash?
My SoftTopper holds up well with regular car washes using a brush-type wash system. It cleans up nicely.

You get see through windows on the Bestop Truck 2
Having the same concern, I can attest that you don't lose significant visibility with the SoftTopper (Tacoma).

Yes for the soft topper, you can also purchase the mesh windows
How old is this video? I have had both and the windows on the bestop have been the worst because they attached on the top 8n side by a tongue and groove type this with vipers on the sides only. The tongue and groove thing never stays in place and I’ve had to duct tape it from the inside.
Good comments. I'm looking to buy the Bestop. So you're having issues with the windows staying attached in those V rails?
@@rowboat1972 yes I did. I had to gorilla tape them in the last time I used it because even when pulled tight and zipped on the sides they would pop out. I ended up just getting rid of it after about 2 years.

@@michaelrojas9893 softopper was the better one in my opinion. I’ve had just under 2 feet of snow on it and in insane rain storms with very very little water getting in.
Would like some screen windows to camp in or when I take the dogs for a ride.

The Supertop for Truck has side windows, the Supertop for Truck 2 has solid side panels, I can't speak for the Softopper brand, they currently have solid side panels for the side.
How loud is it to drive on the interstate when retracted?
It's not loud. The air flows over and around the truck, swirling in the bed, just as if there was no topper. (SoftTopper)

Will it handle Wyoming wind?
Amen!!! Just had a soft tonneau rip off my truck in the area around Glacier Nat'l Park this week.
There is no wind in Wyoming. Colorado sucks!
No 3rd brake light could be a problem in some states.
You may need to add a 3rd light to the rear of the topper. Easy to do, lights run about $15.

I bought a besttop for my dodge ram.....piece of junk....made in 3rd world mexico.....bars didnt line up....the snaps were off by 2 inches...wasnt even close and they expected a piece of velcro to hold th front window in place while traveling down hiway at 75 mph.....didnt hold up.....a spent hrs fixing their lousy engineering....never again.....im buying a soft topper for my new tacoma... lets go brandon🤡🤡🤡

Yep, I like the bestop for features better, but i have heard one to many poor quality reviews like this one. Leaning toward the softopper
