Nice recipe a trick my aunt taught me was to mix the roasted geera in a little water so it doesn't clump up.
I always watch your videos your an awesome cook and you always break down everything totally simple keep up the great work

The street food in Trinidad is akin to indian roots like puri chole etc. Even mauritius street foods are almost like trinidad street foods.
In mauritius, you see a guy with bicycle selling dholl purie around the street corners. Behind his biks is a small glass steel trunk which is a mini restaurant by itself.
Your country is greattt....i wish i cud visit but due to the constraints of distance.
best regards

Hi Natasha do you have the measurements for this recipe anywhere? Also what was that green spice/herb that you added to the dish? How long is the cooking time for this dish if the chickpeas are soaked overnight?
The measurements are in the description box.

Love your cooking videos. I always use canned channa for my channa and aloo I’m going to try soaking it overnight to cook tomorrow. Have you ever made curried channa in the instapot?
love it!
I followed your recipe tonight and it was great thanks!
Just add a 1/2 cup of salt and call it a 1/2 teaspoon...OMG my blood pressure rose watching the vid!
Elise Grace the salt that i buy is not as potent as the salt you get in Trinidad.
That was not 1/2 cup of salt..😏
@@sandraboxill1322 I wanted to say that...but thank you for saying it.
question how do you which iron pot to buy ?and btw I love how you explain yourself for each recipe
Ria Edwards imusa
Can you use the channa in the tin?
I just boil some channa❤️
Hi Natasha love ur recipes but how come we never see a pic of u....just curious
Shaliza Mohammed She's camera shy lol
Thank you for video. Van you please say what type of curry to use? There are many kinds. Thanks
Thank you. Use a simple mild yellow curry. Any brand will work.
Hi how to average the potatoes to the channa?
2 potatoes for every one pound
Ok thanks
Delicious.But......where is the peppersauce ? Thats a MUST for this heavenly meal. 😃
frank herzer you can have the peppersauce on the side when you go to eat it.
Good answer 😃
It's probably cause I'm trini but we cook with allot of pepper so most times we don't need to add in pepper sauce at the end. Only if young children are gonna consume the meal we don't put much in the food. If you like pepper you add it at the end to your plate.
Hi Natasha, what brand of curry powder did you use?
Can u do a curry soya chunks video so that I can do it Wednesday for divali please
What is the purpose of the fenugreek
Hi Natasha. Absolutely love your videos. I've learned a lot. I notice you don't cook with masala when you make curry. Any particular reason why?
no particular reason.i like the curry alone sometimes
thank you 😊
Natasha, we do not need to boil the channa first? Help me out here...please.
Cynthia Seecharan it's probably precooked channa
Ys
That was great! Hope when I try it, it will lash! Lol
Are you doing this in America? Can you what the other names are for some of the ingredients you use, please! I’m not familiar with some of them! I’m new to your channel, but I like what I see. I’d like to try some sine I’m a vegetarian! Thanks
Audrey Powell you have to go to the international store
hi Natasha thx for posting these wonderful recipes. can I omit the methi? if I want curry channa only can I just leave out the potatoes? do I adjust the other ingredients?
Yes you can leave out the Methi, you can omit the potatoes also just use 1 1/2 tbsp of curry powder instead.

Fenugreek seed ? Help me out..what is it and where to purchase it. Is it a must in this recipe.
Amazon or publix. Yes you can omit it.
can u season the channa..everything i make channa it tastes funny..
Love that iron pot, where did you purchase?
Marcia jacklyn Daniel kmart/walmart
That is aluminum pot.
there's a "big leaf thyme" would it add to the flavor?
TO BE HONEST i PREFER THAT FOR CURRIED MEAT DISHES BUT IF YOU WANT TO TRY IT JUST A LITTLE.
+Trini Cooking with Natasha oooh right you're correct it's the meat ...thank you n keep up the good work
thank you.
Hi can I omit the methi for whole geera. Would it be in similar taste
hi I don't use methi only geera and it still taste great..
Yes
I tried this, tasted amazing but the channa wasnt soft enough and my roti was tough 😭😭😭😭 life
Oh no. Next time you can boil the channa first then chunkay.
I used canned channa which is already soft and it turned out great 🤷🏽♀️
You have to boil the channa after it soaked from the night before.
Hi tash....where do you get the methi? I've looked a few places and couldn't find any
Kyle Cielto it's called fenugreek seeds you won't find it by that name. Publix and foodtown has it.
Trini Cooking with Natasha by chance do know of any other places that sell it in the eastern/northern areas in Trinidad?
Kyle Cielto any pooja stores or even hilo /Massy stores should have it.
Trini Cooking with Natasha I've checked Massy Westmoorings Diego and Tru Value 😭😭😭😭😭.......I'll keep looking
Kyle Cielto try a pooja store. And if you can't find it that's ok, it will still taste great.
That toasted jeera at the end was black masala??
Imperfectionist Gaming it's geera thats roasted and ground into a powder.
is there another name for geera?
roasted cumin that has been grounded into a powder.
Cumin
Trying this today would tag u a pic on Instagram
DELICIOUS
Those potato too big but ok whatever u like.
She cut it big cuz the channa wasn't boiled
I was born in India in 1950 ...My mother and the hired help were cooking all the recipes you have on your show...I hope you are not trying to claim them as Trinidad cuisine.!!
Hello she's claiming it cuz it's our recipes handed down by our ancestors but we put our own twist to it so get a life and leave the west Indians alone tnx
recipe is different even the curry is different we Indian in Trinidad thinks your curry is too rich although we buy the ingredients from india we make it lighter in the curry factory quite a few curry restaurants from india had to close down there business they was not getting the kind of sale they expected by the way we have innovation in our country to prepare Channa simply boil it down they add the ingredients
No , don't even try to compare east Indian food with west Indian, we have our own recipes from what was pass down from our ancestors. Trinidad food is unique to the bone.
Please go educate yourself on history. Lots of Indians came to west indies years ago and they brought their dishes with them.
That clanking of spoon in metal pot soooo annoying I don't know y people don't use wooden spoon wen making this video
