I have this camera, it's not perfect as it sometimes misses things, but I really like it.

Funny I just put up 2 of these same cameras today. Disappointed over the Eufy floodlight camera. The detection only works in the direction the camera is facing. The floodlight camera has the sensor on the body of the unit so it can detect motion even when the camera is pointing in another direction.
Can you make a video on installing antenna and running cable?
The must-have features for externally mounted products are theft-resistance and vandalism-resistance. It looks like this security camera lacks those features. Perhaps if it were mounted on the roof, where it would be hard to reach?

The angle for your solar panel - you want to go a little lower than the "average" altitude of the sun - you want to bias toward the winter months when there are fewer hours of daylight and the sun is lower in the sky. If you can cover the winter months, then the longer summer days will have no problem charging the battery.
Unless the pannel actually moves automatically, you will never be optimised.
Good point. Technically in my area 31 degrees is ideal as compared to the 43 degrees set in the video 👍
The easiest way to figure out the proper angle is to use the latitude of your home…
Keep the panel vertical for maximum results.

Do we need to charge before mounting it ?
I had some security cameras and they need unrestricted access to my home router, and used a data storage server run by China. Not good.
Huge red flag if those requirements are not disclosed before purchase in the product description.
I would trust China before Joe the guy , is iPhone your daily companion ? be careful with your privacy , and your house lightbulbs toaster , microwave , tv and utensils you are using , could connect to ……………… who knows what !

Eufy is legendary for their weak security and the forced subscription service. Not what I would choose.

Good, thorough video. I’ve been looking a new home security camera system. I’m leaning towards Ring because they offer them in a black housing and NO subscription fees. In my opinion black is a lot less noticeable. I’m surprised cam companies don’t offer a variety of basic colors for esthetics. Along with white and black, maybe a tan, or charcoal gray housing.
Just mask off the necessary areas and spray paint it the color you want. With plastic best to abrade the surface first with something very fine like a ScotchBrite pad and then clean with alcohol. Rust-Olium make a good spray paint in lots of colors that bonds well to plastic.
Is your house all cinder block?
I live in Michigan and in winter we have days with out sun, would that camera still work?
The camera is chargeable, fully charged without solar apparently it can last an entire year on one charge. Solar is just to keep it fully charged. And if it does drain in winter, one sunny day is enough to charge it up

You need to make sure that you have the system armed. You can change this in the security mode options.
Is the battery easy to replace and upgradable?
Nope, it seems to be integrated into the main housing.

This sort of makes sense from a weatherproofing standpoint, and there is always room for improvement though. I am not totally bothered by it. The tradeoffs do appear to be considerably worthwhile and not malicious.
I have this camera along with 3 e340 floodlight cameras. My only issue is that I constantly get notifications on inanimate objects all day long. Even when sensitivity is turned all the way down.

Solar panels get beat up by the weather, making less efficient each year. $340 for each camera can get expensive when you want to have surveillance all around the home. I have rechargeable cameras for 4 years and I only recharge them ever 3-5 months at 1/3 the cost.
The solar panels for my camera cost $40 and have been working fine for 2 years so far. Very worth it to me to not have to haul out the ladders every few months to charge batteries (and leave the ladders out the whole time the batteries are charging, unless I want to pay more for extra batters and do the swap and take the ladders down then).
I like my solar panels.

Just a heads up, euphys got some serious data security issues, writing data on servers that aren't secured
And if you want remote access, you have to open up certain ports on your router that leave you very vulnerable to hacking.

This cam doesn’t record 24X7
Like all Eufy battery powered camera, it will die in a couple of year. Since the battery cannot be removed, it is basically a throw away.
From my limited experience the battery life of my Eufy doorbell is still going strong 3 years later.
I’ve actually read that every decade they get less productive and by about the year thirty the panels produce poorly

I liked the Funny Comments 😂 !! Listen Kids ,,, I bought a few eufy/s , for there's way more Pros than Cons about them !! Now, 😢 any camera can be stolen, but you at least have a picture of who stoled it !! I have two s340/s under back patio porch. And, l used the included solar panel's extension cables in mounting SP/s in the sun ☀️ light direction . Therefore, the main units are out of the weather. 😅 As for the Security of Network, ?? , 😅 Absolutely No network is Secure 🔐😞.. OMG, my eufy security has been breached, and you know this is true ? 😅 The cameras 📸 are inexpensive and functionally fun !! Now buy some eufy/s , and stop crying about the (What Ifs) 😅😅😅😅 Finally, so he didn't pronounced eufy correctly ?? OMG 😧 !! 😅😅 How many can pronounce Eart guitar 🎸 correctly ??? Lighten Up 🤣
Do not like cameras that connect to the internet, or wi-fi networks.
Just a heads up, Eufy had some issues earlier this year regarding lying about what data they were storing and their encryption or lack thereof.
@@stevenbruning We don't know how resolved they really are considering for months they were denying that such issues even existed. They were still denying the issue even after LTT dropped Anker as a sponsor.
@@stevenbruningidk there's a few good options for local storage. Reolink makes really good systems with local storage
I had looked into the issue. The issue was false advertisement of 100% independence from cloud services. Thumbnails were temporarily stored without encryption, though you still needed your username and password unless you can guess the URL perfectly which is harder than guessing a password. If Eufy just fixed the mistake as soon as it was noticed, there wouldn’t be so much negative press.
There were also claims that there was no video encryption, but I have not found any hard evidence unlike the thumbnail incident. If anyone can find hard evidence, I would appreciate it.

Good tutorial for a terribly untrustworthy device, as many others have said. There are lots of great options this would apply to though, from not-entirely-dodgy vendors.

eufy is a security and privacy nightmare. like when they made user image data publicly available using trivially reverse engineered identifiers. and they have been caught uploading user data to their servers even when supposedly in local only modes.
