A very nice security cam indeed! The tracking function and the microphones are really good! 👌 Also battery life is something you can totally forget about as long as you live somewhere sunny! Vera is truly the best assistant! 😄👍 My brother works with security items like this, and I always share, when you showcase them. Good One Chris Sir! ✌
Yes the other solar more with a fixed cameras I have i've never charged it, 2 years now it's always at 100-97% battery it is really install and forget about it. The only thing is the white plastic is now more cream coloured from the sun. Vera loves to help and see what i'm up to, always! Oh cool your bother I hope finds this interesting.
Fair enough! But even with no sun it will go for around 4 months so you will have a few days in tehre to top it up a little at least. Thanks for watching!
Nice video. One question: it has an IPX5 rating. This is rather low. I expect a rating at least IP66 to stand bad weather conditions. What are your thoughts? Thank you!
Does the tele cam not capture more than just that? Doesn't feel helpful if it just captures your chest 24/7, unless you can view that video in full inside the app
Hi, I'm also using this S340 solocam for a few weeks now. It's working is fine, but I think the solar panel is not working suffient because my battery looks like its draining (below 75% now and no signs of charging in the dashboard whatsoever). My setup is just like yours with the panel in early morning sunlight, the power source is external solar panel. Got some insights for me to possibly solve my power problem? [PS: when I set the power source to battery, what is the use of the solar panel right then? Does it charge the battery or somethink like that?]
Well...camera tracking function. But what if the person is out of the frame? Is it going to be detected? There are no sensors around the camera body. The sensor is only inside the frame what the camera sees. So, it can track the person if he is already within the field of view, but not detect it if he is out of sight. I wish next model to have this. It will be perfect scenario with no blind spots.
@@Techtablets thank u for ur response I was just curious if this is worth buying during winter months. I was also looking into AOSU Solar Cam D1 & was comparing between the 2 of them.
Great review. Also liked your review of the S330. I'm trying decide between one of these or an S330 for my back yard (I have a path to the side of my house where I'll put S330 and I'm going to put their E340 doorbell on the front). Will you do a video comparing the S330 and the S340?
I'm curious, when it says 360°, is it 359° degrees (and then have to back it's way around), or is it capable of a full and continuous (endless) 360° rotation?
When the camera tracks a subject across its entire pan range, does it return to its original default position after? Or does it stay aimed wherever the subject left the field of view?
Hi, once it looses what it wsa tracking it will return to the defaults poisitons you have set via the app. In my case that is pointing towards the gate and door to the house where there is the most in and out traffic.
Great video. Nice to finally see some innovation in securiy cameras. I still feel they should be alot better at this point but oh well. They can't be too nice otherwise people will, ironically, start swiping security cams.
I guess as long as it's up out of reach it's probably ok but I'd prefer to keep it stealth like in a tree where people may not notice. IDK. It's interesting in my condo association they voted out individual homeowner cams and had a pro company install them all over. It instantly stopped the rash of disputes between neighbors regarding privacy issues and the idea of someone next door constantly having you on surveillance.
@@bloodybarron Where I have it here it's right off the road and other cameras also over it. Plus no foot traffic either so it will be fine. My other camera in the from gate area has never been tampered with in 2 years so it's all good here!
Yes if it as too flashy and fancy people would go out looking for them to steal them., but where I have it located it will be fine off the street and no foot traffic.
@@wiredspeaker5658 Up out of reach it will be fine but also being visabel they say is a good thing, stops people getting ideas when they see it and makes them think twice. Interesting about the condo situation so people where acussing others of spying on them with private cameras?
I love the idea of this camera. It checks a lot of boxes. Although, I'd like to see a wired version at some point. I just don't trust the battery cameras to catch everything, even with solar panels.
I live on a busy main road where the camera would be active pretty much none stop during the day. Being in the UK.. would the constant use have quite an impact on the battery? We are south facing and the sun is pretty much unobstructed throughout the day but wasn’t sure if this was meant for more back garden use where it wouldn’t be in use as often?
You can draw a custom area in the app I assume, where only you want camera to be recording and the rest of the "frame wont be recorded" that way you will save a lot of baterry :)
Does the colored night vision have to be turned on in order for the spotlight motion to work, because the spotlight wont turn on when motion is detected at night I have the spotlight turned on?
Hi, looking at the setting it just shows detection type human or vehicle and I see no option for it to zoom and track just faces. Right now it will just center on people which is fine for the wide angel but yes the zoom is cutting off my head in the clip.
sorry don’t really understand the purpose of having the telephoto lens that records half of a person’s body, while tracking the person, wouldn’t it be better if it tracks the person’s face as well, otherwise the footage is totally unusable, isn’t it? They should have re-position the telephoto lens higher to capture a person’s face as he moves around
Agree that was pointless unless you wanted to read the printing on the shirt, but I suspect this may have been addressed with an update, as other reviewers I’ve watched you do see the face, maybe it’s a setting you can change would be good to have this confirmed.
This camera is positioned very low,if its positioned at 3.5 -4M height then wont be cutting the image like that. I am thingking of getting one for testing purposes ASAP
@@denisahmed3030 I went out and purchased one anyway, and have positioned it at fence height, and surprisingly don’t have that issue, mine seems to track better and have face in view not body, so may have been a software thing that has been addressed, note if they are too close for the zoomed telephoto then they are close enough for the standard lens to see them in full detail.
I’d give it a year before the camera goes blurry and/or the solar panel fails to work… Don’t be fooled by the weather resistant rating. Anything exposed to the elements in the long run is doomed to fail. I have 3 units of the SoloCam S40, 2 already developed foggy lens, with 1 of these two with a malfunctioned solar panel. The 3rd one is just a ticking time bomb.
I have the old Solocam model and it's in the sun all day, the plastic is now yellow or cream colour but it's working fine. Lens is not blurry. I think I showed it in this video, maybe I got lucky.
@elphidieus No, not inside the lens obviously, just the surface of it is what I meant. If it's inside, you've got a bigger problem. I know they say it's 'weather resistant' , which it is, but so is my watch to 10 metres. But left at that depth 24/7 won't last 24. You get what u pay for. With my exposed cameras mounted on pine trees (I live in Australia where in summer the temperature reaches over 40 degrees) I got them a little plastic shade cover dome thing to protect it from direct sunlight. & rain in winter. Help your cameras longevity where necessary.
Wouldn't storing the footage ONLY locally just mean that a thief could take the camera and all the footage with them? Or is the footage you see in the app stored somewhere in the cloud or on your phone? At some point you should start doing T-Shirt reviews too?
You are correct. You would see it live on your phone but it’s only storing locally without the HB3. You can however download footage onto your phone memory from within the app, but probably not if someone’s taken it!
I am sorry I bought and installed this camera. My Eufy doorbell has the ability to live view when something wakes it but the S340 will only take a video of it and notify you of it so it is actually only telling you after the fact. I wish I had bought a different brand.

Yes that's the best thing about it no hardwiring so palce it whereever you want and at least get the solar panel in the sun a few hours to charge it up (if possible)
So, how does it pick up movement if it comes from any other direction than right in front of where it's pointed? It's not full 360, it will only follow detected movement 360,......right?
Yeah that’s correct. The camera still needs to be pointing towards a main focal point, like the entrance to a garden or driveway etc. It would then follow people that it detects.
