Wish I had the space for a power hammer, nice hardy cutter
Nice work my friend !
Enjoyed the process, and the Tim powered tools!
Excellent work. I have built one of these and they are not as easy as you make it look.
Sir Tim, I ❤️ the 'old school's feel of this one! Excellent work! Be well 👍👍⚒️❤️❤️
Had no idea that you are in Sumner so close to my family; I grew up in the area and still have family in the area. Miss seeing the the mountain when she’s out.
nice job big dog =)
Nice hot cut tim. God Bless
Enjoy watching you using the tools of yesteryears Tim, May the tredition live on in the hands of blacksmiths such as yourself. thank you for the experience cheers.
This was therapeutic and precisely what I needed this evening.
Thanks Big Dog!
Great job Tim hang in there buddy
Enjoyed watching the process using all the tools and methods of yesteryear, good video as usual but I did miss your commentary, your commentary always puts the icing on the cake for me. However a great job, my compliments.
Hey Tim ! Thanks a bunch for the post. It is always a treat to watch your laid back creating at the Smithy. Have a great weekend my friend. Hammer on eh ! Would case hardening be a good idea ?
This is perfect timing for this video for me. College is out fir the semester due to the virus, so i have time to finish my forge set up and the first thing i was going to do was make a cut off hardy
lol loved how you tossed that cut off toll made me laugh
Nice job Tim. Just love all the old tools. Really need to get new bearings on my stone.
Thanks for watching my friend and take care.
Love the treadle hammer!!! Great video and love the use of traditional tools, makes me feel better cuz all i have is a hammer and anvil lol 💪💪👏
Love it! My hardy is getting a bit short and fat now days, with years of sharpening it down.... I think you just motivated me to make me a couple o' new ones for the old banger' , Kudos's for doing it the old tried, tested, and true way!
The same thing seems to be happening to me. Think some forging will help?
Lovin yer new forge, this is a very good vid on making a useful tool minus the electric power!!! Very cool!
Hi Tim sorry I've miss Sunday live I've been busy and not waking up till late
that giant grindstone is awesome, i wish somebody still made something like that.
Swig Swag - I see them all the time on FB Marketplace
@@dwayneburbridge3283 Wow i didn't even think to check there. Honestly i haven't ever been on facebook marketplace. I'm looking at 2 antique grindstones now in my area. Thanks for the tip!
Howdy Tim, cool Hardy tool. Looks to be dang tough and sharp. Am happy to see your vid. Stay frosty.
Nice One Tim. I've been thinking about useing a fork truck tine for that so you just confirmed my thoughts. Cheers
Nice hot cut Hardy tim
I love making tools. Even if it's something you have and thanks and I can make it better
Do you ever worry that you will break the heel off your anvil when doing hardy work?
Not really it's made for this kind of work and if it does break I'll just fix it.
Thanks for watching.
I really like the traditional smithy. Nice work on the hardy. Where do you get your forklift tines?
I have a form lift junk yard near me
Don't stress too much
i wonder if 'fast orange' or lava pumice abrasive liquid soaps would be interesting on the sharpening wheel.....messy for sure
I was surprised that there was no heat treat on the cutoff. What type of steel is it?
Not sure the steel type but it works very well for this application.
I don't heat great because the hot iron would remove the temper anyway.
Thanks for watching.
Tim, are y'all alright? Haven't seen or heard anything from you.
I'll be seeing you soon take care and be safe.
you forgot to shut off your oiler
Holy cow your fast awsome as usual
Nice work Tim, i generaly just use a butcher style hot cut now, i know you can get a fairly neat cut by cutting to centre, i find i can choose between a straight or tapered cut by the way i orientate the tool in the hardy, what are your thoughts on this if any
I do like a butcher cut but both have there application.
Thanks for watching.
Hey big dog idk if you said this in another video ,but I was wanting to know what dimensions this workspace is?
Work space is 10' X 12' .
Thanks for watching.
Noticed you cut away part, Why not just make it wider , As the cut off might just be waste
Thanks
Just the size I was looking for.
Thanks for watching
Did you get a new anvil..larger hardy or jus wanna make a new one?
Just need one that fit better.
Thanks for watching.
Did you heat treat it or don’t you need to?
Don't need to the hot iron would temper the steel anyway..
Thanks for watching.
hey tim! did you stop doing live-streams?
What's up big dog you usually talk or is that just my end
Hey, Tim, where does one get a scrapped fork lift tine? I was just poking around online and see ones that are being offered up after an upgrade but they go for a couple hundred bucks.
Try Ebay I got a pair here in UK for about $125- I know it's a bit expensive but when you consider the amount of steel it's very economical compared to buying that weight of good stock and the shapes will offer themselves to many projects if cut in various ways
I typically go to scrap metal places, they always have some close to where i live. Your best bet is to google forklift repair shop near me and i guarantee they either have some or know where to get some. But only pay scrap price. That has been my experience. Good luck :)
I found two pairs for $50 and $70.
