Thanks Dean, if yours is a HELIX 7 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS G3 2.320 update and the maps are here ;- www.humminbird.com/support/software-updates/HELIX-7-CHIRP-MEGA-SI-GPS-G3-v-2-660 The older update is at the top of the page, the latest at the bottom, but you will have to load the base maps first, both 2.320 and the base maps are at the bottom of second page after clicking on the download button. I took me a little bit of going back and forwards to navigate the page.
Ok, so your update will be different to the one I down loaded for the helix 7 g3. At 4mins 50 secs on this youtube clip it shows how to find your model, if you have already done it click on this link and find your exact model here - www.humminbird.com/support/software-updates I believe yours is the 3rd from the top once you click on the helix 9 down arrow, and the update will be 2.280 and you will have to upload the base maps 1.301 if you have navonics, buy a new 8gig micro sd card and do your 2 downloads with that new card one at a time, and then put you Navionics card back in the unit once finished.
I could do that, but in the mean time, I use colour pallet 2 or 4, contrast on 12, dynamic contrast set to on, sharpening off and set the side imaging range to about 13 meters (40ft) for small rivers and take that out to 30meter in lakes. Matching chart speed to boat speed is the best tip, if you casting have a chart speed of 1, trolling at 2kmph have the chart speed at 3, this way you get to see all the details of the bottom and timber, if you double the chart speed to your boat speed you you will start to stretch out any fish that swim through the transducer beam which can be handy to see fish under timber :)
What transducer are you using to get Mega live with this update. I have the Helix 7 G3N but after this update, there is no option in the sonar settings for Mega Live
Hi Steve, there is no setting for mega live on the helix 7, mega will only work on helix 8 and up sadly, I'll have to buy another sounder If I go mega live :(
It's a great sounder, I've found many new snags with it, and when the fish are up and about its easy to see them, the update definitely made it clearer, better contrast control ect.
As someone who has never turned on a computer what week are you available to come over and tutor me or set it up for me or I will just keep using my old royal paper sounder thanks ray
@@rayjclifford thanks ray mate I live in western Melbourne thanks for the offer this bloody lockdown has screwed everything I’d be happy just to sit on a bank just anywhere again thanks
I did the update in the shed, then set the screens l wanted to see in simulation mode, then hit the water and it worked perfectly. If you not seeing any sonar readings make sure sonar is turned on. Hit the power button, scroll to sonar and see if it's on or off. If it's on, you might have the screens you want to see turned off.
Thanks for making this mate!
Your welcome 🙂
Thanks for update walk through ... just curious, why block out serial number??
Great video Ray. My problem like you is is been a while. Where did you find the earlier update?

That’s a grouse looking sounder Ray.The side scan must help ya find the good snags.Did the update improve the overall performance of sounder?

If the royal paper sounder tells you all you need to know, and your hooking fish, I'd stick with that :)
But If your now to far from Echuca, I'm happy to come around to help you do it :)

@@rayjclifford Did the update and lost basemap, lol. Luckily I have Nav.
@@tnriverbanks oh no, did you do the three updates in order?
Do you lose all your saved tracks that are previously in the unit? Thanks
Not on my helix 12 but a mate lost all his tracks and way points on his solix 12 with the last update.
I should add, I've sold my helix 7 and moved the 12 into its place.
@@rayjclifford thanks. Appreciate it
When I put the SD card in nothing happens has this happened to you?
Once, make sure the card is 32gig or less, if it doesn't start the update within a couple of minutes pull the card and re insert it.
What does Humminbird make-it so DIFFICULT!!! 👎
