- Humminbird helix has been a tool that has proved its self to me over the years. This Humminbird Helix 7 chirp gps g3n will be my 3rd helix on the boat. Jeremy unboxes the Humminbird and powers the unit on and explaines in detail the menu options and settings.

In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

I have the G3 chirp 7 new to this fish finder trying to get best setup for lakes
I have a 7 mega si. To switch over to 83 sonar I believe you have to go on and switch the transducer setting from HW over to 83. Is that correct ?
Great content. I have the Helix 7 MSI G3. After I install it can I power it up and put it in simulator mode with transducer connected? How do you put in simulator and turn off demonstration mode? I was planning to learn/save settings from home in simulator.
Whether helix 7 g3n supports follow contour?? I tried with an i pilot link go with cursor to the contour and push -go to- but it dont give to me option follow the contour....
Hey thanks for the video, i recently purchased one of these but as i am in ice mode i am still getting the Nmea and tachs . I cant figure out how to remove them. Any ideas?

No problem man, glad to help. I would switch the sonar frequency to 83 khz and slow my chard speed down to 3 r 4 and u will get much bigger archs

Your welcome. If you are starting out in that marina r launch u can just hit the mark button while u r there. If not you have to be on full screen gps and use the arrow cursor pad to scroll to the desired spot u wish to waypoint and then hit the mark key on your humminbird
Great video, these newer generation devices are loaded with features, I'm currently using a B&W Humminbird unit. I bought a HELIX 7 GN3 unit back in March of 2022 . I've never installed it as I was buying a 'new to me' used boat. I lost the manual , downloaded one heck of a manual but I have few simple questions. From your video I guess I can run this unit in a 'DEMO' mode ? Questions...beside the 12VDC, do you need to hook up the transducer to avoid damaging the unit . I spent over $500 and don't want the unit. Thanks in advance.
They are great units once you get familiar with them amd the best way to learn is at home on simulation mode. U don't need to hook up the transducer. Just hook to a battery up amd turn it on and learn how to navigate the menu. You won't do any damage to the unit

Good video. So many good choices nowadays. I narrowed my search to this unit: Lowrance Elite 7 Ti2: Garmin Echomap Plus G3 73SV or the Ray Marine Element 7 HV. What are your current feelings on this unit after owning it now for a few months? I may get this tomorrow. Any further advice would be helpful. Thank you.
Thanks man, appreciate the positive feedback! I absolutely love the helix 7. Believe it or not I'm considering switching the helix 9 off the dash and installing the 7 up there. It blows my mind how clear the picture is but if you dont get the humminbird I would get the Garmin! Just so u can upgrade to panoptics if you ever wanted

Thanks bud, no I really wish you could. So far the only one that i know that does it is Garmin! With the bluetooth models I wouldnt be surprised if there is an app and update for it in the future

I am considering a Helix 7 to mount next to my 999 CIHD SI (networked together) and use it strictly for GPS mapping but am concerned about its screen size. It would be at the stern on my tiller boat. Would you consider the size of the 7 screen to be big enough for my application?
I think the 7 inch screen on the helix will be perfect for gps and mapping. Exactly what I've been using mine for and love it. If you were looking for a side imaging h it I would increase up to 9
Help! Have a Helix 7 Di and have it messed up. Which video should I watch to get me back. I don't have SI and want it. If I got a 7 SI would use same plug ins to unit? I know would need another transducer. And how to sell old one and/or does Hummingbird take trade ins? Or would an 8 be better? Problem is that I have my trolling motor on a pontoon boat and just want it easy to plug and play. I KNOW this is a lot of questions but you r the man.
If you have it all messed up, hit the menu button twice and cursor over to setup then cursor down yo reset defaults. This will bring it back to how it came out of the box. Wont delete waypoints r anything like that. Any helix will take the same power plug but the transducer will be different. Unfortunately humminbird doesnt take trade ins but should have no problem selling on ebay r marketplace

maybe you know if there is a side scan mode (SI) in the version Helix 7X MDI GPS G3, or only DI ?
That is an di model and will not have si unfortunately

Can you shut the beep sound off as you are working through the menu and different views?
Yes you can turn the sounds off by hitting the menu button twice. Scroll over to set up. Then cursor down to control sound and arrow right to no sound. Hope this helps
Does the helix g2n get side imaging when networked together?
I dont think that humminbird did this technology on the helix g2n but I could be wrong. The helix g3n is def capable of picking up mega si and di while networked with a mega unit. Good question, thanks

Love your channel, I have a helix 7 SI gn2n and a Minn Kota Ulterra w/Ipilot (not i pilot link) and DI. can I hook the Minn Kota up to my helix? not sure how this will work as there are two different transducers.
Thanks Jerry! Yes you can def use 2 transducers on one unit and the best way to do so is with the TS3 - Transducer switch and a ethernet cable and dongle from the trolling motor. They run around 80 bucks and can be switched back n forth with a push of a button to whichever transducer you would like to use
@@HumminbirdHelp Not wanting to be a pest, but I did not mention that the DI on the Minn Kota is a universal DI built in xducer. Does that make any difference>
Yes it will absolutely work of course u just wont get any side imaging while using the built in di transducer

Hey, can you hook up your phone to a helix 7 G3? My phone doesn’t show up under accessories
I actually just got this question the other day where someone couldn't hook theres up. You should be able to and I'll get to the bottom of why its not showing up under accessories
So after doing some research, the g3 models are not bluetooth compatible. Only the g3n units are and networkable and is why the significant price difference between the g3 and g3n

Very nice vid. just purchased this unit as an all seasons. i was under the impression this unit had DI, but cannot find any settings, can DI be added on this unit? you also mentioned jigging, what settings do i need to have to see my jig for open water.
Thanks bud, really appreciate it. The gps sonar unit will not have down imaging unless networked with another helix unit with down imaging. Down imaging has such a narrow cone it is almost useless for jigging. The helix 7 will come stock on 200khz for 2d sonar. Change this to 83khz and keep ur jig relatively close to the ducer and u will see it no problem and fish coming up to it. Hope this helps

Yes this is the gps sonar combo but being a g3n can be networked to a si or di unit and displayed and adjusted off this unit
