Hey bro. Am a cse grad from a tier 2 clg from India. But am not really interested in software or coding stuff and I've been gng through these videos and suggestions abt management consulting and it interested me. Im ready to put long hrs and even learn more in smth am interested rather than the coding stuff which might be not as stressful as consulting but i still wanna do it so am thinking of dng a masters in management degree.... do u think if put good efforts and if i study in a good b school I'll be able to crack a nice paying job??? Coz the masters degree is gng to be a huge deal to me. I wanna be sure before even running it with my parents. What'd u think
hey, thanks for the question! Masters in Management (MiM) is a very hot degree for people wanting to go into consulting. I know quite a few colleagues who did an MiM before joining our firm (e.g. there was a few who did their undergrad degree in India and then did an MiM in UK before joining our firm). I am not sure about the situation in India, but in the UK if you did an MiM in a reputable university (Imperial, LBS etc.) then you definitely have a higher chance at breaking into consulting. But also don't forget that 1). internship and other work experience is also very important, 2). the current economy is quite dire meaning a lot of consulting/banking roles are being cut down, making competition even stronger.
@@Jason_lai thankyou so muchhhh for taking your time to reply to my comment. Its so sweet of u for giving ur time. I'll keep it in mind and plan forward. And also one more question. Yeah like u said, am trying to apply for lbs and I'll conc well on my internships n experiences..... is the pay really good as they say it is..... like is the pay worth the working hrs
the pay is definitely good and very above average! Not as much as something like Investment Banking but the hours are a lot better than investment banking. But I would argue a key reason for people going into consulting is not the pay, but for the potential exit opportunities into other industries (e.g. Private Equity, strategy departments in big companies)
@@Jason_lai yeah am looking for the experience and things i learn and gain from it tooo but u made my choice a better argument with my parents😂 thankyou so much for taking ur time to reply to my comment. Thats veryy sweet of u. Thankyou😊
Fair play brother, don't sweat the small stuff at work, bounce back is the best thing at work, talk to others, find peace and it's all gravy 💯
