A food dehydrator would be perfect, all those fresh fruits, would taste even better.
Also, if you like sun dried tomatoes, there's an easy way to do it in the oven and store in jars with olive oil.
They really taste so good and fresh and keep forever.

Love that you are taking the opportunity to raise Sadie bilingual. It is the normal process to take in the language and understand before producing it. Often, kids will mix the two for a while. Then, suddenly have two complete languages. Bravo!

This little girl is the most precious little person ever. I can’t believe that I watched her water birth and now she is so clever, self entertaining, loving and living a life so many of are kids don’t get to experience. I grew up on a farm, free, animals , understanding our different cultures with the locals. We would go and live with them on weekends in their huts, and just the best experience ever. Sorry my son won’t get to experience that, but watching Sadie growing up on the farm is the best world to bring her up in. ❤❤❤

Squares are inherently unstable. You absolutely need some diagonals to make triangles in each wall. Shear panels work the same way, but are not really necessary. Even 1 foot long diagonals at each corner would make it much more stable. Your glass doors won't slide at all well unless they are in a rigid frame. I would redesign it with 1 foot diagonal braces covered with 1 foot wide fixed glass windows. Then put movable glass doors between those. You definitely should have painted that metal roofing white before you put it up. I think you will want to do that now so it's not radiating a lot of heat from the sun. If you had, it would have not cooked your face during the installation.

You know you guys could put a roof over everything you've got there and you'd have your home. Make the roof bigger than all the buildings there so you could add a few new rooms and space for vehicles. Keep the sides open and you would have a nice big rain/sun protected space to live and work while still being in the open. The second roof over everything will also keep the living spaces cooler in summer.

You need some diagonal bracing in your walls to keep the whole room from racking, Moving, over the years. Horizontal bracing is nowhere as strong as diagonal bracing. Sure it feels sturdy now but over the months of heavy winds it will loosen up.

Your daughter is in the silent phase of language acquisition. She probably understands a lot but she is not quite comfortable talking. She is close. Her age may play a role but kids pick languages up quickly. Just make sure she is able to read and write (I think you have done this) in English. If you cannot read and write in your first language it makes it hard to do so in a second language. 😊

Hey guys, just a thought...... because you are living in an off grid situation. Underneath all that deck space, when it rains, you will get a lot of water going through to the ground, WASTED! May want to think about a rain water harvesting catchment. Put it on a slight slope, run it to rain gutter system and harvest that water.

My (ex) husband is Colombian... when he started teaching our son Spanish, besides talking with him, we checked out Dr Seuss and other children books in Spanish. Rafael would read the text in Spanish, say it in English then read it in Spanish again while Nathan followed along.. Raf did it with the English readers as well so Nath would see/hear word in both languages.

You need to put a gap between the foil insulation and your roof aluminum. I live in Indonesia and this is what helped me the most in reducing temperatures and water inside. Finally the insulation goes on horizontally with an overlap starting from the bottom working up, will prevent leaks as long as you don’t puncture it.GBY

Our daughter was born on Earth Day and had terrible Colic. The only time we could get her to sleep more than short naps was when we went camping or to the botanical gardens. She is now a Marine Biologist involved in helping raise coral that is more heat tolerant to rehabilitate bleached coral beds.
Also, we were in Germany when she was 3-6. We sent her to a German pre-school/Kindergarten hoping she’d learn German. Like Sadie, she REFUSED to speak it. We could tell she knew some but she just wouldn’t speak it. She even had a BFF who was German. The two girls made up their own language, a combination of German and English that neither set of parents could understand. We called it EngDeutch.

Great video…don’t worry about Saidie. We as kids learned 4 languages at once. My mom and dad spoke different languages and we moved to Canada so were surrounded by English and went to French schools. With mom we would speak Flemish, with dad we would speak Danish and when they wear together in the same room we spoke English since they didn’t speak other’s languages and at school it would be French. That started from when we were babies. When we started talking sometimes we would mix words from one language to the next and sometimes my mom would say if she spoke to us we’d respond in English as that is what we would hear the most when we were all together but they didn’t give up and I am so glad they didn’t. I married a Chilean so now I have added Spanish and I am fluent in 5 languages…with no real effort as with kids being sponges it was super easy. Keep up the great work on the house. Love watching you guys.
