I will never understand how Marowak still died despite the electric rod. It shouldn’t have worked on her since electric is immune to ground types, making this death all the more sadder
Lucario honestly sticks out to me more because he spent years believing his closest friend betrayed him, only for him to eventually learn the truth and die from the very fate he was sealed away to avoid. In terms of graphicness, Snubbull easily takes the cake, because *holy crap* was its death freaking *brutal.*
Actually it was not years for him. It seems like time's running completely different inside the staff, as he was trapped in there for centuries, but from his perspective barely a few days have passed at most. That's proven twice if I remember correctly. The first time was when he was surprised that the kingdom's celebrating before the enemy attack and then with what he said to Queen Ilene, believeing that he walked through the corridors some days ago. But yeah, he felt betrayed. Badly betrayed.
That cubone running up, crying to his deceased mother broke my heart. That was the moment that made me cry in this video. Them hugging and cubone having to say goodbye was so heartbreaking.
It's okay, it wasn't really Cubone's mother. That was the adopted mother. Cubone's actual mother died a while back because Cubone is supposed to be wearing her skull in old Pokedexes, so since he was wearing it when the mother was sacrificing herself, it was an adoptive mother dying and not his blood mother. :D
Stoutland's death will always be the most impactful, both to viewers of the anime and those who worked on it. Sarah Natochenny, the VA for Ash, went on record saying that when she had to record for that episode, it wasn't too long after her own cat had passed away, so you could imagine the emotions she had to deal with while recording. As a direct result of the episode, both her and Lisa Ortiz, the VA for Litten and director of the dub in general, created Voices for Fosters, a non-profit animal welfare organization. Numerous other voice actors assist with the organization as well, such as Jake Paque (Prof. Sycamore), Jamie McGonnigal (Barry), Kate Bristol (Kalos Nurse Joy), James Carter Cathcart (Meowth and James), Kayzie Rodgers (Wobbuffet), Rodger Parsons (Narrator), Alyson Rosenfield (Bonnie), and Abe Goldfarb (Prof. Kukui).
I cried ugly when I watched Stoutland die... it was a father figure to Litten and even tried to help it learn Fire Fang. Then when Litten woke up from it's uncomfortable dream and I saw that Stoutland was nowhere to be seen, I knew it had passed away. And Kukui's answer to Ash's question "I'm sorry..." broke me. Pokemon are living beings as well and they too are part of the natural order. I'm just glad that Litten would join Ash and then evolve into Torracat and then Incineroar and would also be an absolute powerhouse in Ash's Alola team.
I want to remeber that Ash brought Stoutland to sister Joy. And she told him that Stoutlands condition was something that couldnt be healed/fixed. (pointing to that they where old and had not much more time) And that they "expired" that day at the pokemon center.
Rotom Dex: “Professor, where’s Stoutland?” Kukui: “I’m sorry…” What makes it even worse is that Rotom seemed genuinely confused in the scene, as he didn’t understand the concept of death yet
Ash's Alola Team Was Insane. He Had An Overpowered Rowlet, A Monster Incineroar, A Naganadel, A Melmetal, A Special Lycanroc, And The Son Of Arceus. Pikachu
Stoutland death was very hard to see. My dog, Sofy, saw me crying she just curled up to me. Saying everything is gonna be alright as I hugged her back. To this day, I look back at the episode as a reminder of my dog. I miss her to this day years later.😞
@@eimearmulvihill4827 I still remember her to this day. Heck, I even redid my old LP of Rescue Team DX in memory of her. Sofy meant so much to me and I'll always cherish her
"Latios, you have to open your eyes so Latias can see what's happening" That sentence has been burned into my memories ever since the Latias and Latios movie came out. Also Stoutland's is honestly really hard to deal with, especially when Litten sees him in the clouds and tries to rush him food...that tore at my fucking heart strings
Watching Pokemon die is something that always breaks my heart. I always viewed it as a fate worse than death for any child that saw the series to watch something like that happen. Back when I was growing up, the idea of Pokemon actually dying was Unthinkable to me. But when I found out that Pokemon had even taken part in ancient conflicts and actually lost their lives, it tore me apart Beyond repair. And when I saw the graves of other Pokemon while playing X and Y, it only further reignited that old trauma of mine. Even the concept of death is still present in any Pokemon film or game or TV show
Stoutland’s death was a real heartbreaker, ngl. But the scene from the Pokémon anime that brings me to tears the most is the scene where Ash “dies” in Mewtwo Strikes Back. After Pikachu tries in vain to revive Ash with his thunderbolt, he began to cry once he realized that it’s no use. His trainer is gone. All the other Pokémon began crying as well. Seeing all those Pokemon who were driven to tears makes me cry too. That scene still tugs my heartstrings to this very day. I remember watching that movie when I was younger and my family were on a trip. I first saw that scene while riding in the car back home. That scene really broke my heart and it sure made me cry. And I even saw other Pokémon movies (or at least parts of them… 😅) when I was younger such as Pokémon 4ever, the one that involved Lugia and the 3 legendary birds, the one with Entei and Unown, and the one with Latias & Latios.
that stoutland one REALLY hit home for me... in fact, watching that again just now made me cry for a second even though my tear ducts have long since dried up...
Still don't understand why they didn't just add this back to blu ray re-release of the first three movies it literally adds so much more to mewtwo's character than the theatrical cut
Yeah, and it could be possibly why that Mewtwo was so hateful towards people because he was so sad and angry at losing his only friends, Amber two Charmander two, Squirtle two and Bulbasaur two to death. 🙁 that'd make anybody sad and angry and hateful towards everyone and at the world. Poor Mewtwo was just lashing out, and nobody even cared about that fact. Cause they only saw a dangerous monster of a Pokémon instead of a heartbroken sad oh so very lost in his sadness and despair and anger and hatred with thoughts and feelings Pokémon Mewtwo I honestly feel sorry for him he lost everything that he knew and his closest friends too. It might explain his anger and hate towards the scientists in the laboratory and why he had attacked them and blew up their base and laboratory in a fiery explosion that destroyed everything in it's path as Mewtwo burst his way out through the roof of said former once base science laboratory building flying up out high up into the sky and outta sight only to then be found by Giovanni who used and abused him and used him like a tool for war and like a machine instead if a living being with thoughts and feelings. When Mewtwo had asked through thought, "Why am I here?" It suggested that Giovanni hadn't told Mewtwo about how he was going to help him to learn to control his powers at all. That might be why he got so angry once he realized that he was being used and said, "This is not my destiny. And a few other things which I don't remember him saying I might need to watch the movie again to find out about what he had said. Towards Giovanni in anger.
The latios death almost made me cry . The lucacurio and the mystery of mew reminds me of Pokémon super mystery dungeon in terms of its story. The ending of Pokémon super mystery dungeon made me cry a lot.
There is also a Pokémon disappearing in Pokémon super mystery dungeon in blobs just like the scene where ash and Brock and may get swallowed in the blob.
#1 is so spot on. I'd argue that Snubbull and Luxray also deserve that spot but their scenes weren't as long (Snubbull's death was pretty grim though).
Veronica Taylor, Eric Stuart, and Rachael Lillis made the original series memorable! And then they got replaced! Unlike Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon lost most of it's voice cast due to a legal issue between the Japanese companies and 4kids!
Is the Stoutland one the most impactful one with how the entire episode was focused on that like how any of us couldn't hear what Nurse Joy told Ash about the conditions of Stoutland which got us to assume the worst and how it wasn't seen after that along with how Litten had to more forward and chose to be with Ash?
The death of Snubble in Pokémon movie the power of us, Luxray in Pokémon the movie I choose you, Stoutland in Sun and Moon and Cuebones mother in Pokémon Origins are of some my saddest moments in Pokémon 👍❤️😢
The montage of Pikachu and Ash in the Bye Bye Pikachu episode of the OG series still brings me to tears at the thought that they would actually split. 8 year old me cried so hard.
Latios hit me hard, man. Like, we expect these kind of movies to end on a "everybody is okay" note, but...damn. Just made me hate Annie and Oakley even MORE. Then Stoutland made me ugly-cry.
I remember witnessing Latios and Lucario's deaths when I was a kid ( maybe not the latter as much as the formal) and I'd imagine I got pretty teared up at those points. I also remember in my teen years when I read somewhere in a World Record book that Pokemon don't die, only faint. I guess that just makes me think that all Pokemon are immortal. But playing Pokemon Sun has made me realize the truth. This video got my eyes watering a bit, but I think the deaths of Mewtwo's friends are the most heartbreaking to me.
The stoutland death was definitely number 1 material. Litten being left by himself in the rain is emotionally brutal because it happens so frequent in real life to strays.
You forgot Cleffa which should have made the list. While it is the Japanese version that confirms that Cleffa was unalived by illness, English viewers were confused about what happened. The girl in this episode is trying to find a way to grieve about Cleffa’s unaliving. The older characters aren’t sure how to explain unaliving to a little girl, so they tell her Cleffa became a star. This causes Unown to cause an endless night. Towards the end, the Unown allow her to interact with her Cleffa’s ghost to get in one last goodbye. The other thing that makes this episode really sad is knowing it was a baby Pokemon that unalived. Losing a person or pet really young is really hard. In the least with Lucario and Latios, they both reincarnated. Since Ash was the reincarnation of Sir Aaron, it makes sense the Lucario he had in Journeys was the reincarnation of Sir Aaron’s Lucario. Latios also reincarnated into a Soul Dew.
I actually have a copy of Pokemon The First Movie that includes the prologue featuring Amber Two. I got it when I was in Japan back in 2012. Still have it to this day
R.I.P to all the pokemon in this video. They will be missed. 🌹 Also, here are some honorable mentions you probably left out: Pikachu (Diancee and the cocoon of destruction) Entei (Spell of the Unown) Raticate (from the red and blue game) Xerneas (Also from Diancee and the cocoon of destruction, if turning into a tree counts) All the fossilized pokemon before they got resurrected
Most heart breaking episode for me (Only watched the original series) was the episode Goodbye Pikachu (I think that's what it was called), where Pikachu finds a group of Pikachu and Ash says goodbye so Pikachu can be with his own species
The 3 starter Pokemon along with the girl's death in the laboratory where Mewtwo was born was the most heartbreaking moment for me as it was my first Pokemon movie I have ever watched.
The first two Pokémon sets had the best designs and names imo. It was new and original, and didn't make you wonder "why is a literal pile of sentient trash a pokemon"
@@talesyuki girl, and 90s kid. I don't whine, I just sighed in dismay at what the franchise has become over the decades. "Genwunners?" What kind of spelling is that?
Seeing all of these Beloved Pokémon throughout the years of the *Pokémon* Anime Series Died REALLY breaks my heart. They all really bring out the Waterworks. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔
I remember watching the Stoutland episode when it aired. I also remember having trouble seeing because my eyes were so wet. People can take a dump on Sun and Moon's art shift all they want, but damn if it didn't tell stories well. I don't even like Stoutland or Litten, and it got to me.
Anyone else notice most of these involve a dog like or cat like pokemon in some way? Other than talonflame, latios, and marowak? Even then, talonflame could also be seen as a pet since it's a bird and the other 2 are family deaths.
Bro when I was a kid and watched the Sun and Moon anime, I was not observant enough to see Stoutland was dying. It wasnt until I saw the look on Kuki's face when I realized what happened and I started ugly crying. Like.. i had lost a loved one crying. I literally had to pause the episode for a solid 15 minutes to get my emotions under control before I could continue watching it. Now I have an even bigger attachment to Stoutland
The one that stuck with me as a kid was Celebi from Pokemon 4Ever. Ash tried to heal it with the water and even asked Suicune to purify it. Just the way he was kept trying to give Celebi a berry even though everyone knew it was too late T^T
I just wanna know how electric batons can even hurt Marowak if it’s a ground type? But still, I can’t believe I forgot about Stoutland! That hit me so hard!
5:26 it is theorized that the 3 Pokémon became the 3 legendary beasts. The 3 Pokémon were Jolteon Vaporeon and Flareon. It works because they fit the description of the beasts
Fun fact: Lucario and Aaron's voices are shared with 2 popular characters from 2 other franchises. Lucario being voiced by Sean Schimmel (Goku's English voice actor) and Aaron being voiced by Jason Griffith (Voice of Sonic from 2003 - 2009)
I stopped early in gen 3 and I don't regret it. But it's cool that they added heavy content like this. In gen 1 they only hinted charmander passing if his flame goes out
Just getting started on nuzlockes because of your vids flygon! Wish me luck... Anyone have any suggestions for an experienced pokemon player thatd never done a nuzlocke before.
And the in sun and moon when Ash and Toracat are brought into the veil we thought Ash was brought to meet someone but it was really for Toracat to see Stoutland one more time 😭😭😭
I say all of the things mentioned in the video and more that never showed up in the video, as a lot of moments involving Pokémon deaths tug at the heart strings, I still have memories of Ash's death in the first movie when I saw it in 2012 as well as it's remake

@ShayTheValiant opinions vary, sarcasm isn't needed. Thank you, bye.
@@ShayTheValiant It's been more than 20 years since Gen III debuted. Do you think this guy has been whining since that? xD Ah, genwunners...
@@talesyuki girl, and 90s kid. I don't whine, I just sighed in dismay at what the franchise has become over the decades. "Genwunners?" What kind of spelling is that?
@@RayvenLunaNite yeah, we call that whining. 😂
Oof. I've never actually seen any of these episodes but still my eyes are watering at that last one. Oof. Rest in peace good boi.
All of them are equally sad. 😢🎉
Someone once told me that death is a part of life! So I yelled at them for their insensitivity!
Can you blame me?
@@tarikkash4282yeah kinda xD
@@tunderdiamant8651 You don't get it! That's not what you say to someone who is grieving!
I think it's getting pretty busy in Lavender town with all these deaths. Can they at least say hello to Gary's Raticate?
He didn't kill his Raticate, he swap it for a different pokemon
@@ianhardy9375 His line to the player is literally “do you know how it feels to have a dead pokemon”.
Stoutland proved why it's such a faithful companion.
Seeing Latios death and it “leaving this plane” was devastating
Seeing all of these Beloved Pokémon throughout the years of the *Pokémon* Anime Series Died REALLY breaks my heart. They all really bring out the Waterworks. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔
I remember watching the Stoutland episode when it aired. I also remember having trouble seeing because my eyes were so wet. People can take a dump on Sun and Moon's art shift all they want, but damn if it didn't tell stories well. I don't even like Stoutland or Litten, and it got to me.
Should've included the Minior episode of Sun and Moon instead of the Legendary beasts since the Minior didn't come back to life
The Luxray broke my heart the little smirk smile u can tell he wanted to go out knowing he kept him warm..
This video is very very heartbreaking for all the pet owners in the world. 🥺🥺😢😢😭😭😭💔💔
I was TRAUMATIZED by the Luxray and Snubbull death-
Seeing Harriet's Snubull Get Engulfed In The Flames Absolutely Broke Me When Watching That Movie...I Paused & Sobbed For A Good Hour Before Continuing
Anyone else notice most of these involve a dog like or cat like pokemon in some way? Other than talonflame, latios, and marowak? Even then, talonflame could also be seen as a pet since it's a bird and the other 2 are family deaths.
Stoutland, Luxray and Snubbull were the saddest.
I have speculated that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Greivard and Houndstone were based on the number 1 spots episode.
I should show this video to Salem so she can finally learn how valuable life is
Latios death is heartbreaking and it make cry...😞😢
I don't understand..like Latios is my favorite pokemon :(
I never imagined a show with such cute creatures would actually kill them off 😢
It's even darker in the games
@@terrenceweeks6261 I can imagine
I cried like a baby at Luxray's death when I watched the movie on Netflix 😭 I also bawled at Stoutland's death as well
Pokémon can’t escape a house fire but they can be completely torched by another Pokémon in battle ?
The luxray one istg i wasnt ready for that
11:17 that was by far the most emotional death of a Pokémon
I just wanna know how electric batons can even hurt Marowak if it’s a ground type? But still, I can’t believe I forgot about Stoutland! That hit me so hard!
No, no, no! 😢 I want to forget all sad episodes of the Pokemon franchise!
Lucario given I was just a kid back then and it was such a perfect ending to a great movie
Lucario being voiced by Sean Schimmel (Goku's English voice actor) and Aaron being voiced by Jason Griffith (Voice of Sonic from 2003 - 2009)
All of those were heartbreaking... but the moment Snubbull came back to comfort Harriet one last time takes #1 Spot for me 😭
Im crying this remind me the Golden era of pokemon heartbreaking scenes😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
The Snubbull one is so insane!! And the imagery are you kiddng me?!??! 😢😢
I once heard that the 3 Pokémon were a Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon
Based on the sizes of the "animals" in the episode. This might not be 100%.
Honestly it could be a 3 way tie between Lucario and stoutland and Latios .
That with Luxray hits hard. He was my second Pokémon ever and has the name of my father. These Pokémon are so cute! I would always choose them again.
Saddest moments are charmander on the brink of death, ash letting butterfree go and pikachu getting his ketchup bottle cut
And the in sun and moon when Ash and Toracat are brought into the veil we thought Ash was brought to meet someone but it was really for Toracat to see Stoutland one more time 😭😭😭
To be honest all of the deaths in Pokemon still bring me to tears 😭❤️
😢 The feels hit hard when Pokemon pass away. 💔
The family Luxray sacrificing themselves with a smile, that was rough 😢
I say all of the things mentioned in the video and more that never showed up in the video, as a lot of moments involving Pokémon deaths tug at the heart strings, I still have memories of Ash's death in the first movie when I saw it in 2012 as well as it's remake
Ash losing Jhoto league is saddest moment for me in Pokemon
Surprised to not see Gary's Raticate on here
The legendary beast origin story kind of got overwritten with the past paradox versions now.
