Yes, it's time for another Subscriber Showcase. This time we are going back to drag racing with basically no rules..... just keep in mind the stuff I talked about in the video and what I'm writing here. If there is some sort of confliction then just let me know and I'll clarify.
- Classes: FWD, AWD/4WD and RWD
- Game Version: Alpha 4.2.whatever-is-current
- Send me your Automation Export file on Discord (post it in the showcase submissions channel) before August 27th to be included. Submissions will open up on the 22nd.
- Build whatever you want, just consider that I'll be driving it
- Stream likely to be Saturday September 3rd, possibly before then ( i need time to get things organized)

(I realise that I called the car an Opel a bunch of times... I realise that It's a Holden)
same thing
Thanks mate 👍 I'm Australian so I appreciate when people give our cars some respect
I asked for a drag bugo but I guess that I have to do it myself. Where’s the link for your discord?
Edit: I found it
Edit: it’s done and it’s bosuzoku-ish
You didn't shift manually. The automatic modes were letting the engine bounce off the limiter so much.
Its a vk
Most drag cars only have 2 gears that are spaced way out. When you're making that much power you don't need to worry about not having enough.
Usually 3 or 4 but yea you don’t wanna waste time between gears
I have a 6sp and only use 3 lol
@@isaactrockman4417 usually 2 speed powerglide
I don’t know shit about drag racing but i’d assume it’s because the bigger blown/NA motors have an early power peak and carry the power through to the top end. No reason for torque multiplication other than a launch, when after that you can gear the car to top out right at the end of the strip. that’s what makes sense to me
@@chrisreardon7185 it applies to turbo motors too
My brother in Christ, run 2 or 3 gears max and space those bois out! You’re leaving time on the board hanging those gears on the limiter. Let the torque do the work
💀💀
In automation it takes the 0-60 down by like .4 seconds if you decrease the gears a lot.
You should really have a Turbo and Naturally Aspirated subcategory in each drivetrain category. By not separating them you're guaranteeing that only Turbo cars will be competitive
Yeah I agree, I much prefer tuning na.
I expect this showcase to be almost entirely turbos, not a bad thing
@@automotiveflux anything not turbo won't be competitive at all, I think it'd be more interesting to have classes, but I understand if there won't be enough applicants to justify that
@@automotivefluxWhy no NA class? TBF, I always enjoy using Twin-Turbo V6s, but if you have a freaking F1 engine in the same category as a car with a Honda Odyssey engine, it isn’t going to be very competitive unless you go all street-car on it.
My craziest drag car was a failed LMP that overteered over 90km/h and was a nightmare to drive, but it made some really good times on the strip.
If you're running AWD you probably want a square setup for the wheels. Having smaller fronts is more than likely hampering your traction for the front drive wheels to grab. It's like putting the fat tires on the back of a FWD car.
Not only that, but you're changing the effective gear ratio so in real life you would shred differentials.
No, because when you accelerate, most of the weight of the car goes to the back
@@Ignacio.Romero Go watch an AWD car drag race. They all run a square set up. But I guess the professionals don't know what they're doing.
Hmmm, you could’ve written that analogy a teeny bit better
@@208Concepts Not true unless its a 4x4
The VK Commodore has always been an Aussie favourite for drag cars. As has most of the models before it( The VB to VH) and the VL after it.
it looks SO SICK damn
can't wait for the showcase
Jesus christ "let me shift as late as humanly possible"
blame the game S mode is a glorified auto
Hell yeah, i just got a new pc on which i can game and automation and beamng were some of the first games i installed, i'm gonna be having fun making this. Thank you for your content and for this opportunity/challenge
Make it a 3 speed already.
5:20 when you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about lmao
17:57 Danica Patrick moment
Vk Commodore, I knew I recognised that body shape in the thumbnail!
The gear ratios aren't the issue. Its the shift times.
You need to go manual and shift as soon as it hits the limiter. Put the engine to work.
If its hitting the limiter, it's no longer accelerating.
Even with this much wheelspin?
@@styckykeys2200 yes.
@@antonyaiken no, you shouldn’t shift until your ground speed nears your wheel speed when spinning. Shifting at redline when spinning puts you in a lower point in the next gear leaving you with worse acceleration because you’re bogging the motor in too high of a gear for your actual ground speed
@@justdrifting4749 try it. I promise its faster.
@@antonyaiken maybe in the game, but he's correct IRL. That's why fast FWD hondas often keep clapping the limiter in the low gears, to allow the car to catch up to the wheel speed.
Just causally picks one of the fastest Aussie bodies and calls it too heavy to be fast.
There are F1 bodies in this game, my runs are nothing compared to those if built well
"I'm not going to use Sport on yours but I will for a couple runs on mine."
Proceeds to do all testing using Sport shifting.
You got the calmest voice i ever heard
Yes!!!!!! We need more of this
I haven't played Automation in a couple of years or so. I entered the last drag car showcase, so I might actually try and enter this one.
possibly the most stock VK in existance
manually shifting is faster in this case when you're hanging off the gears that much
00:07; “we will not be taking any turns”
17:47; **turns right in BeamNG**
HELL YEAH I think i finally perfected my drive train to fit this.
DAMMM showcase finally
My fastest car I managed to make had a nearly max size V16 in it, AWD and did a quarter mile in 6.5 seconds
Try cutting down the engine size for a better power/weight ratio
@@automotiveflux It is very heavy, but it's the fastest drag car between my friend and I. I thought 6.4 seconds (I forgot it did a faster time than 6.5) for that beam quarter mile drag strip was good. The car has 6.4K horsepower as well
@@legodude494bro I just set a 6.7 with a steel frame 63’ muscle car with only 1600 hp
been ages since i saw anything from your channel, i miss doing these car builds but i also know nothing lmao
I'm so happy your using a Holden
I would love to see this with an engineering cap and no stress
I will have to remake my 4.8 sec truck
Do you have a mod list for Automation?? I haven't played in about a year but your game looks a lot different than mine.
This car should go on the Car Jump Arena
I don’t know anyone that drives quarter mile with traction control and let the computer shift .
I made a drag car that does 6.1s with rwd and 3500hp, but I heavily modded the jbeam files so I'm sure it wouldnt be legal in this competition.
Had a lot of fun trying to bring the time down lower and lower and eventually reached a point where a wheelie bar was needed, but my lack of knowledge with file editing meant I couldnt add rolling wheels to the wheelie bar. So it scrapes slowing the car down. Without a scrape, I guarantee sub 6 is doable with it.
The DEX DeadLock on the modpage should be a worthy contender. Roughly 3000hp out of a naturally aspirated V10 engine, AWD beast.
Haven't got a drag car, but do have a "Mega" car that does 4000hp 400mph and weighs 4000lbs.
Couldn't conveniently make those numbers even if I tried. XD
I'll submit it as I think it's a worthy contender.
What wheel overlay are you using if u dont mind me asking, I've been trying to look for a clean one for a while.
I built a race car into Formula Vee body, put with a shit load of aero and a 1 litre 2800 hp V10 and it does 1/4 mile in 5.2 seconds. I`m pretty satisfied with that since it wasn`t even designed for drag racing but for track.
sounds funny hearing what I believe is an American saying VK Commodore, really caught me off guard hahaha
Sastava badge? Interesting, is this the Bugo's younger, more successful sibling?
Time to let loose the imagination and see what I can build for this!
(edited for spelling.)
Bugos Australian cousin
The bugo if it grew up fighting spiders daily
Madea 6.3s with a twin turbo v8 AWD, took me days but the process was worth it
use manual gear shift even on gearboxes that have automatic(Dual Clutch and Sequential) so the car doenst hit the limiter and use less gears!, drag cars obviously have way more than enough torque to carry 2 or 3 cars of its own so you don't really need low speed gears, use less gears you can and give it some spacing!
Also another thing i dind't see you mess much was the cam profile which can help alot especially since you were using VVL, dunno if you changed some stuff between cuts though
Great video… how can I get the car you used
I made a 5.8 second car in the 1/4 and it was amazing on the track as well
Did you upload it? It sounds amazing!
What's your current rwd fastest time?
Have to know if my 7.1 is enough or needs to be faster xD
What map are you using here?
that body shape is a vl turbo commodore from here in australia, i didnt even know you could get one of these on here lol
Its a vk brother not the vl unfortunately
That car body is a VK Holden Commodore
Nice 👍
The VK was our family car growing up hehe
How are your engine building controls so different then mine??
heck yeah. miss my vk calais :( this needs a 2speed glide lol

It's a year later so a lot has changed with the game. Best time I've managed after a few minutes with a V10 running RWD on drag slicks gets me 6.4xx. Every automatic doesn't know what to do with the amount of torque I have and hang on gear for no reason. Ended up using the single gear continuous and that works. I've done better with a manual and slipping the clutch carrying the front end past the 60 foot but I have a G27 so I got a clutch pedal.
What version of the game is this? I don't have any turbo options except single
which map in beamng are you using in the video?
saw this video and took it as a challenge. Just pulled a 6.686 with a single cab!
that first shell looked like a vk commodore
The intercooler cools the turbo? Yo what 😅
Fastest I've been able to make is a 5.2 took a few weeks but I didn't do anything outside of what was available in the base games. I'm sure there are faster ones out there
6.46s rwd 1428 bhp but it's a track, really pleased wit the 1/4 mile time
I’ve gotten 6.9 with a massive v12 in a Saab body and even with road flatteners at tyres it’s still has no grip
bro how do i change the fuel mixture??
how can we download this in our game
When it comes to drag tuning in forza your first gear you want the shortest without spinning then you want to stay in the powerband for the rest
Maybe put super glue tires in it? That would eliminate the wheelspin. 🤔
whats the link for the mods
Well, time to test my knowledge on aerodynamics and Engineering. Maybe I can pull off a 10 second or less car.
Not a drag car, but i have made a hyper car that can go from 0-100 km/h in 2,90 seconds, it's top speed is 535km/h.
I would call it an *Ultra* car at that point if it accelerates as much if not more than the average dragster, but drives as fast as a hyper car.
The fictional company that made the car is WK(wariai kaze)and the car model name is Dracon.
IMO it's very impressive even though i have started playing automation like last year(december 17th if i remember correctly)
Make this car more aerodynamic
Your using sport mode on your transmission. It has one more mode and it's m. That's for manual shift. You can shift faster then the game actually shift's.
You actually don’t want your suspension to be so stiff in the rear. Soft is better for acceleration off the line as the weight is transferred to your rear wheels on launch.
ball bearing is powaaa
journal bearing is reliability
haha using one of my bodies again. Though this one was bought, with a licence that allowed me to make it into a mod, but at the time it was too hard for me to make morphs..... so I didn't :P
Where did you buy it? The model is quite nice
@@automotiveflux .... I don't even remember, but I spent a really long time remodelling it, then giving up, then trying it again, then giving up :P it was at least years ago now
You should try to use the manuan shifting more on dct cars...the game's shift logic isnt the best always so yeah
Vk came out in 1984/85 in 1978 that would have been the first commodore the VB
so which mods? delta collection? huh?
I wouldn’t say “historically” because for first 80 years of drag racing, manuals dominated
If you shifted instead of banging rev every gear for 100 feet you’d gain lose some time lol
bruh im saving the vid as if i ever will buy automation or beamng with 0money ;-;
Would love to get into this but I can't make tires that hold up above 300mph and BeamNG literally just breaks. 395mm semi-slick tires and 4wd, 4 speed gearbox (1st goes to 120mph) with traction control.... Automation still complains it wheelspins 100% in every gear, Clicking test track results in lua crashes, Going into BeamNG and the ferrari style bodywork thats slammed in automation gets lifted like a monster truck, accelerating makes the front axels bend and steer all over the place...until it wheelies then the wheels explode.
Some things aren't meant for this mortal realm I guess.
if this is an rwd car maybe just put a little amount of weight to the back for more traction or grip
My crazy drag car Clocked 8secs or under in 1/4mile drag, i tried to make it even faster,
but the engine keeps exploding. That was on an older version tho, so the updated version,
i could probably get 5-6 secs no mistakes, and i'm not really a pro car tuner, but i just get it on the game, you know the stats.
Idk what i do in the game, i just give it a guess mostly.
put the same size rear and front rim & tire diameter, the fronts are spinning faster than the rear because of the surface area.
i just seen the video now and realised the car is actually a vk group a commodore
If you want some immediate power, don't use a turbo, let alone twin turbos. If you insist on using a turbo at all, just compound boost it!
where are the subscriber cars
That car on the Home Screen of the vid is a vk commerodre
Bros made a VL commodore
Are we allowed to submit one for every class?

Higher gear ratios, less gears.
Higher suspension, low suspension rebound, medium pushback.
Most 5000+ hp cars run 2 to maybe 4
If your Suspension is too stiff u loose grip homes
I really wanted to like BeamNG, but I do not have/use a shifter and I do use a 19 button mouse that I wanted to bind each gear to, but in order to play I have to HOLD the key to stay in gear. I had to refund it :( I know I could have just used an upshift down shift, but I wanted the freedom to gear select kind of like having a shifter.
I have a video of my 3 speed manual RWD running a 5.9 with NOS!
how tf do you reach 6000 horsepower like that? the biggest engine i can use has hard time getting to 2000 no matter what tuning i do
